Zhang Yang watched as Chu Jingtian hurriedly chased him out, and he could not help but sigh.

“With the way you are now, it is no wonder you have no romantic feelings left. You are practically turning into a cold machine. I remember back when you were in love, you were so devoted. I thought you would give up everything for love, but I never expected you to work this hard after returning to your career.”

Although Zhang Yang spoke with a joking tone, he was also quite sentimental. Back then, seeing Chu Jingtian give up so much for that relationship had been shocking. Now, seeing him just as resolute for his career made Zhang Yang admire him. He did not understand why the current Chu Jingtian was so desperate to succeed in everything; as long as Chu Jingtian set his sights on something, he would work tirelessly to achieve it. Thinking of this, Zhang Yang shook his head helplessly.

Once the room fell silent, Chu Jingtian stared at the documents on his desk and thought about everything he had once abandoned for a so-called relationship. Now that he had returned to all of this, he would certainly work hard for his career. He considered the severity of these issues. Hearing what Zhang Yang said made him wonder. He was indeed the type of person who, once he stabilized a situation, would keep it firmly in his hand. He would not let it vanish quickly. Facing all of this now, he could only keep his feelings to himself, not knowing how else to face them. Sometimes he was quite willing to listen to others, as their perspectives allowed him to hear different views and change if necessary. He could listen to good criticism and simply forget the bad.

In this way, he slowly controlled his emotions, no longer allowing himself to be distracted by past feelings. While Chu Jingtian was busy working, a knock came from the door. He stopped and looked toward the entrance with curiosity.

“Come in.”

A man dressed in a professional black-and-white business suit walked in. He looked like a high-level elite. With a serious expression, he walked up to Chu Jingtian and handed him a folder.

“Manager Chu, these are the documents I prepared. Please take a look.” The assistant spoke with a serious gaze.

Chu Jingtian nodded at the assistant’s professional manner and took the folder to review the contents. “Does this mean I need to set aside some time this afternoon to accompany everyone to the interviews?”

“Yes,” the assistant replied with a nod. Chu Jingtian understood the arrangement. After discussing the specific timing with the assistant, he quickly returned to his work.

Aside from work, he had nothing else. He did not want to touch any romantic feelings right now. After returning home, he had already made up his mind; he could not be trapped by those emotions again. Having finally escaped the vortex of one failed relationship, he could not enter another. He would not give up his career for love. Being back at work made him truly happy; the excitement of finishing a task was much greater than anything a relationship offered.

He must have been under some kind of spell from Zhou Nian when he was younger to be played like that. However, he was wide awake now and would not overthink things because of past feelings. By keeping those feelings locked away, he could remain calm. He would not waste his emotions on such things; if he did, he would lose.

Chu Jingtian continued working until the interview time arrived. When he entered the interview room, he saw a large group of people waiting. He had not forgotten that they were a talent agency; being a talent agency meant they needed to recruit stars. Thinking of this, he began to lazily browse through the files while looking at the aspiring stars who had applied.

As he looked at them, he checked their educational backgrounds and character. Although Chu Jingtian was not an expert in everything, he understood the complexities of the entertainment industry. As a manager in an entertainment agency, he knew these things by heart and felt confident in his grasp of the situation. While inspecting the applicants, he looked at them seriously and asked several questions. He did not believe that a lack of emotion on a person’s face meant they had high commercial value.

Currently, the core issue was not just profit value, but the character of the actor. If an actor’s character was poor, they would eventually be exposed for scandals after entering the industry, which would negatively affect the company. To prevent this, he made them answer several difficult questions.

Several hours passed. When he looked up again, he saw a familiar face. Looking closer, he felt a sense of helplessness in his heart.

“Su Jingyang, why are you here?” Chu Jingtian was genuinely shocked. He never expected Su Jingyang to appear here. Su Jingyang had studied abroad for so many years, yet he had come to this company to enter the acting industry.

Thinking about Su Jingyang entering the entertainment industry, Chu Jingtian knew he would have to endure a lot of verbal abuse. He understood the trends in the industry; once you become a star, you are mocked and scolded by the public. Regardless of whether you do well or not, once fans target you, you become a thorn in their side. Considering these problems, Chu Jingtian looked at Su Jingyang very seriously.

“If you want to enter the entertainment industry, have you considered that you might be verbally abused in this profession? You have to be prepared for that if you join.”

Su Jingyang listened to all of Chu Jingtian’s concerns. He took them all in but remained firm in his decision, agreeing with Chu Jingtian’s perspective. “I already knew this when I chose the acting profession. If I join this industry, I will certainly face some scolding, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Being judged by others and by professionals is an essential part of being an actor.”

Indeed. To become something great, scolding and voices of doubt are inevitable. If one could walk this path without those voices, it would be far too easy. Every industry follows the same concept: it is impossible for things to be easy at the start; only later do things become a bit more comfortable.

Chu Jingtian sighed after hearing Su Jingyang’s words. He agreed with his view. Rather than letting Su Jingyang suffer at another company, it was better to have him here so Chu Jingtian could personally guide him. If Su Jingyang went elsewhere, he would surely be oppressed. Thinking about what Su Jingyang might encounter made Chu Jingtian feel helpless, but he suppressed those emotions and stopped overthinking.

Once the interviews were over, Chu Jingtian finished processing the applicants. When he walked out, he saw Su Jingyang waiting for him at the door. Seeing Su Jingyang standing there obediently, Chu Jingtian nodded with satisfaction. He led Su Jingyang to another area and looked at him seriously.

“You now know the severity of these issues. Now, tell me properly: why do you want to join the acting industry? Do you realize that if you want to become a star, you will face things you have never experienced before? You will also have to hide your identity as a wealthy heir and slowly work your way up.”

Chu Jingtian spoke seriously. He knew the strength of Su Jingyang’s family. If Su Jingyang wanted to be a big actor, the family could certainly handle it instantly. But to do that properly, one must accept that people will mock you for having resources and “using the back door.”

“If you want to enter this world, I advise you to think it through carefully. If you haven’t, I don’t want to say more. If you aren’t sure, go back and think. The most important issue is what I said at the start: this is up to you, and I cannot make the decision for you.”

Su Jingyang listened to Chu Jingtian’s long lecture. A smile remained on his face throughout, and he remained poised and unyielding in the face of it all.
