The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 17
Shi Rui and Her Sister Met Long Ago
Shi Rui chased after her for a few steps but was blocked by Chu Ye. She could only shout loudly, “Sister, where are you going?”
There was no response from ahead. Luo Xiao’s figure vanished into the early morning mist as if she had never been there at all.
“Xiao Rui, why are you up so early?”
Shi Rui’s eyes were red, looking like an abandoned child. She grabbed her mother’s hand and asked aggrievedly, “Mom, why did she leave?”
“She has a busy work schedule and had to rush back.”
“Impossible.” Shi Rui retorted immediately. She didn’t believe it; no matter how busy her sister’s work was, since she had come to see her, it was impossible for her to leave so silently.
Seeing this, Chu Ye sighed. She was on the verge of telling the truth but forced herself to hold back when she looked at her daughter’s face. Not wanting her to suffer, she lied: “She saw you were asleep and didn’t want to disturb you. She told me and then left.”
“Really?” Shi Rui remained skeptical, but since her mother said so, she had no choice but to believe it.
Then, remembering something, she covered her mouth in panic and asked tentatively, “Mom, you know…”
“Yes.” Chu Ye stroked her head and sighed. “How could I not see that you’ve had something on your mind these past two days?”
In fact, she had sensed it during their phone call a few days ago, which was why she and Shi Zi had rushed over.
“When did you two start?” Chu Ye asked carefully.
Shi Rui lowered her head, gripping her mother’s sleeve tightly, and murmured, “Just… two days ago.”
“Two days ago? That means you haven’t known each other long. How can you be sure she’s someone you can entrust yourself to? Do you feel safe giving yourself to her? Besides, her profession is special; she has to interact with many people every day, lives on set with co-stars for months, and has many romantic scenes. How can she give you a sense of security and a guarantee? Are you really okay with that?”
Chu Ye was guiding her daughter step-by-step, hoping she would realize that she and Luo Xiao were not a good match.
“And we are just ordinary people while she is a Dragon. That’s also not quite a match, baby.”
Shi Rui didn’t believe it and didn’t want to hear it. She felt she might naturally be a “love-brain,” but facing her mother’s gaze, she couldn’t find the words to argue. She could only give a soft “mm,” faked a yawn, and pretended to be exhausted.
“Mom, I’m going back for a nap.”
“Go ahead.”
“Yeah, you should go sleep too. It’s still early; we’ll head down the mountain later.”
With that, Shi Rui walked straight toward Rong An’s tent.
Around eight in the morning, people began to wake up one after another.
After Shi Rui and Rong An finished packing, they saw that Ming Qing and the others weren’t up yet. They ran to the entrance and shouted, “Qingqing, Qianqian, time to get up!”
Ming Qing snapped her eyes open. Before her brain could even process the situation, she sat up as a conditioned reflex—it felt like a stress response. After all, back at the dorm, hearing those words usually meant they were about to be late for class.
But just as she moved, the person in her arms pressed against half her body and grumbled Dissatisfiedly, “Not getting up.”
He Qianqian reached out to grab her, acting spoiled in her daze: “Hold my hand.”
Ming Qing naturally placed her hand in hers. Watching her hug her hand and rub against it with squinted eyes, Ming Qing couldn’t help but smile. She softly replied to the outside, “Getting up now.”
Only then did she lean down to pull the sleeping girl entirely into her arms, whispering gently in her ear, “Qianqian, wake up.”
It took a while for He Qianqian to open her eyes. After rubbing her face, she asked dazedly, “Is food ready?”
Ming Qing was charmed by her look. She sat her up and began dressing her, replying, “Not yet. I’ll buy you something delicious once we get down the mountain.”
“Qingqing, you’re so good.”
He Qianqian smiled until her eyes turned into crescents. She snuggled softly into Ming Qing’s arms, mumbling something, then tilted her head and fell back asleep against her chest.
Ming Qing didn’t disturb her again. Looking down at her smooth, delicate skin, she personally unpeeled the thin layer of pajamas and changed her into clean clothes. She then set her aside to sleep properly while she quickly packed both their bags.
After descending the mountain, the group went for a fresh grass hotpot. He Qianqian had a seafood pot to herself. Ming Qing even made a dipping sauce for her, but couldn’t resist adding a handful of minced grass for freshness, resulting in He Qianqian spitting out grass bits as she ate.
Shi Zi kept thanking everyone for taking such good care of Shi Rui. After the meal, she insisted on taking them to a jewelry store to pick out a small accessory each as a gift.
On the car ride over, Shi Rui checked her phone. There was still no reply. She was in no mood for shopping. Once they arrived at the store, she let her mother pick something for her while she sat aside, bored, playing with her phone.
Chu Ye stood nearby, looking at her thoughtfully.
It was as if her phone had suddenly lost its signal; she couldn’t receive any new messages. Shi Rui repeatedly toggled her data on and off and refreshed the app, but the chat box remained empty.
She thought for a moment, sat up straight, dimmed her screen to the lowest setting, glanced sideways to see her mother helping her other mom pick out earrings, and then guiltily tapped on the keyboard.
[Sister, why haven’t you replied to my messages lately? Are you busy?] Little bunny scratching its head.jpg
Long moments passed, and there was still no reply.
Shi Zi walked over cheerfully carrying two large bags and stuffed them into Shi Rui’s arms, saying, “I bought you some clips, hair ties, hats, and some small jewelry.”
As Shi Rui took them, she noticed the three people behind her mom also had bags. Ming Qing was already impatiently putting on a ring she had just picked out, urging the person next to her, “Hurry, put it on.”
“Oh.” He Qianqian was still in a daze. She slowly pulled a ring box out of the bag and opened it at a snail’s pace.
Ming Qing, with her impatient temper, couldn’t wait. She snatched the ring out and clicked it onto He Qianqian’s finger. Afterward, she held her hand up proudly to take a photo, looking down and muttering about posting it to her Moments.
They were matching rings.
Shi Rui’s mood was poor; she felt wilted, and even her fluffy rabbit ears seemed to have lost their luster.
Seeing this, Shi Zi asked worriedly, “Are you feeling unwell? Did you catch a cold on the mountain last night?”
Shi Rui shook her head, forcing herself to perk up and smile obediently. “No, Mommy. Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.”
“How do you look ‘fine’?” Shi Zi remained concerned, saying earnestly, “If something is wrong, don’t keep it bottled up inside. Remember to tell Mommy and Mom, okay?”
“Mhm, mhm.” Shi Rui nodded vigorously, hugging her mom’s arm and smiling sweetly. “Mommy, don’t worry too much, or you’ll grow old.”
“I’m already old; I don’t worry about that anymore.”
“How are you old?”
It was only then that Chu Ye spoke up. After comforting her wife, she turned to look at Shi Rui, her eyes seeming to hold an endless amount of words she wanted to say.
At 2:00 PM, they wandered into a local specialty shop. The owner greeted them warmly, praising his products to the skies.
Shi Zi felt tempted and wanted to buy some to bring back for her relatives.
“We’re taking the high-speed rail back; we won’t be able to carry much if we buy too a lot. Let’s just buy it online,” Chu Ye advised.
“But the online stuff isn’t the same as what’s here. Buying it locally is more authentic and meaningful; otherwise, they could just buy it online themselves,” Shi Zi said, completely brainwashed by the owner.
Chu Ye sighed helplessly, saying, “Alright, alright. If it comes down to it, we’ll just buy a suitcase and drag it all back.”
In her mind, she thought: If I had known, I wouldn’t have taken the high-speed rail; I would have driven here myself.
On the other side, Shi Rui clutched her phone, waiting anxiously. Why hasn’t Sister replied to my message yet?
Shi Zi wanted her to vote on whether to buy things online or buy them here and carry them back, but Shi Rui didn’t respond even after being called several times. It wasn’t until Ming Qing walked over and gave her a playful slap on the back that she snapped out of it.
“What’s wrong?” Shi Rui asked curiously. Ming Qing looked at her with a stern face. “I was about to ask you what’s wrong. You seem so distracted. Your auntie is calling you.”
Shi Rui finally turned around, tucked her phone away guiltily, and called out, “Mommy, what is it?”
“Are you feeling unwell somewhere?” Shi Zi asked worriedly. She had already asked several times, and she wouldn’t believe Shi Rui saying she was fine anymore. She immediately put down the specialties in her hand and grabbed Shi Rui’s hand to lead her outside. “I’m taking you to the hospital to get checked; maybe you’ve caught a cold.”
“Mommy, I’m fine.” Even as they walked out the door, Shi Rui was still struggling and resisting. She didn’t want to go to the hospital, mainly because she wouldn’t know what to say if she went there for no reason.
At this moment, Chu Ye spoke up at the right time. “It’s okay; she’s just reluctant to see us go.”
Chu Ye hugged her wife to comfort her. “She’s just a child, and it’s her first time staying away from home for so long. We’re going back this afternoon, so of course she’s sad to see us leave.”
Hearing this, Shi Zi felt a bit guilty and sighed. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have come. It’s all your fault, constantly nagging at home about coming here, and now our daughter is like this.”
Seeing that her mommy was truly anxious, Shi Rui’s heart was immediately filled with guilt. She hurried forward to coax her, and Chu Ye joined in to comfort her wife as well.
Ming Qing, seeing that it was getting late, thoughtfully suggested, “How about this—let’s find a place to eat first. We ate at ten this morning, and now it’s almost three. It’s time for lunch.”
“Yeah,” Rong An followed up right after Ming Qing finished. “Xiao Rui is probably just tired. She’ll recover after a good meal.”
Since her roommates were helping, Shi Rui quickly played along. “That’s right, Mommy. I’m fine; I’m just a little tired. Let’s go eat.”
Shi Zi looked at her daughter seriously. Seeing that she had regained some spirit, she reluctantly believed her and said, “Alright, let’s go eat at your cafeteria then. Can we get in?”
Speaking of which, they had visited twice but had never actually eaten inside the school.
“Of course you can, Auntie! I’ll tell you which stall has the best food,” Ming Qing greeted them enthusiastically. Everyone then hailed two taxis and headed toward the school.
Once they reached the school cafeteria, Ming Qing praised a certain stall on the second floor to the skies, saying the flavor was absolutely incredible. Shi Zi walked with them and said with a smile, “Is that so? Then I’ll have to try it today.”
Shi Rui followed beside them, agreeing that the food at that stall was indeed delicious. However, Chu Ye, who was walking behind, suddenly stopped and said, “Xiao Rui, why don’t you come with me to buy drinks for everyone?”
The people in front all turned around. Rong An reminded her, “No need, Auntie. They sell drinks upstairs too.”
“I just saw a milk tea shop over there; I want to see if they have any new items.” Chu Ye stared intently at Shi Rui as she spoke, as if she wouldn’t allow her to refuse.
Knowing her wife had something to say, Shi Zi gave her daughter a gentle push and said with a smile, “Go ahead. We’ll head upstairs first.”
Shi Rui nodded and followed her mother to buy drinks without any suspicion. However, after walking only a few steps, she heard her mother suddenly speak: “I know Luo Xiao.”
Hearing this, Shi Rui was stunned for a moment. Then she reacted and thought it was nothing special, saying with a smile, “Many people know her, Mom.”
“No, what I mean is…” Chu Ye stopped in her tracks, turned to look at her daughter, and after a moment of hesitation, spoke decisively. “I knew Luo Xiao much earlier than they did. She came to our home before you were even born. At that time, she wasn’t an actress yet.”
Shi Rui’s heart seemed to stand still. Her intuition told her that her mother’s words hidden a great secret.
“What did she… do at our house?”
Chu Ye’s expression was somewhat sorrowful, looking as if she were unwilling to say more. She simply replied, “She was there to find you. You two have known each other since long ago. Early this morning, I said some very harsh things to her, and I might have already hurt her. Go find her. Just tell her that I was the one who told you. She will tell you the rest.”
