The Aloof Beta Transmigrated as the Pretty Wife [Transmigration] - Chapter 18
Su Ren fought back a wave of dizziness and the sudden weakness in his legs, listening as Xie Chouqiu negotiated with Qi Chen.
“Professor Cao, would you like to take off your coat so I can wash it for you, or should I just give you some cash to take it to the dry cleaners?” Xie Chouqiu asked, his expression earnest as he eyed Qi Chen’s clothes.
Qi Chen, unwilling to lose his composure, replied, “That won’t be necessary, I’ll handle it myself. And for the record, my surname is Qi, not Cao.”
“Oh,” Xie Chouqiu let out a short sound, flashing a handsome grin. “I just assumed you were a descendant of Cao Mengde, given your apparent hobby of going after other people’s wives, ouch!”
Xie Chouqiu clutched the back of his head where he’d just been smacked, looking at Su Ren with a flash of indignation. “What was that for?”
Su Ren shot him a glance, too irritated to even find the words.
With a cold, displeased look at the students who were trying to sneak photos and videos with their phones, Su Ren turned and walked away. Qi Chen followed closely behind, leaving Xie Chouqiu standing there.
Xie Chouqiu had no choice but to order the students to delete their footage before feeding the beef dumplings to a stray dog.
Then, a thought struck him.
This wouldn’t do.
Su Ren hadn’t eaten yet.
In a rare moment of charity, Xie Chouqiu stopped by the convenience store next to the cafeteria and spent five yuan on a rather shriveled-looking croissant.
Since Su Ren had given him twenty yuan, he still had fifteen left. Consequently, Xie Chouqiu bought three more, planning to feed them to Su Ren one day at a time.
But while his plans were grand, reality was underwhelming. By the time Xie Chouqiu rushed to Su Ren’s office, Su Ren was already eating a homemade lunch provided by Ms. Ding, a married Omega colleague.
Xie Chouqiu felt a twinge of anger.
His somewhat slow brain couldn’t quite wrap itself around why Su Ren was so popular.
Looking like a desperate soul at the end of his rope, he sat outside Su Ren’s office with a dark, handsome scowl and proceeded to eat all four croissants himself.
When Su Ren finally stepped out and saw the “stray dog” crouching by his door, he didn’t even bother giving him a second glance.
Yet, for some reason, Xie Chouqiu thought Su Ren’s gait looked odd, almost as if he were struggling to keep his legs together.
Today, Su Ren was teaching a lab practical.
As the students sat with their heads tilted up, watching Su Ren in his white lab coat as he performed experiments with a stoic face and meticulously explained each step, who could have guessed that their Professor Su was so weak in the knees he could barely stand?
