The Aloof Arch-rival Insists On Carrying The Child Of A Useless Alpha - Chapter 7
The original owner’s luxury villa was actually quite secluded, average people couldn’t even find their way here, so logically speaking, it should have been relatively safe.
However, this mansion was simply too massive. Even though it was equipped with numerous surveillance cameras and security personnel, it was difficult to guarantee that no intruders would slip in.
All things considered, it was truly difficult to manage.
On top of that, the original owner’s current situation within the Si family was quite dire, making vigilance all the more necessary.
Yet, why was it that something had gone wrong on Leng Xuelang’s side just now?
Jiu Yi didn’t have time to overthink. She immediately maneuvered her wheelchair to the adjacent room to check on her situation.
Her special assistant, Xin Tang, had already gone ahead of her to investigate, terrified that something terrible had happened.
However, the moment Xin Tang opened the door to Leng Xuelang’s room, she was so startled by the sight inside that she let out a sharp cry. She instantly blocked the doorway, refusing to let Jiu Yi take another step forward.
“President Jiu, it’s dangerous inside! You… you need to leave right away!” Having followed Leng Xuelang through many trials and tribulations, Xin Tang had never experienced a moment like this. Her voice trembled as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing, yet she remained stubbornly planted in front of Jiu Yi, refusing to expose her to danger.
Looking at her fiercely loyal subordinate, who was clearly shaking like a leaf but still shielding her completely. Jiu Yi felt a wave of emotion in her heart. “Step aside first.”
As she spoke, she took hold of Xin Tang’s wrist and firmly pulled her back half a step, revealing the scene inside the room.
To her surprise, a massive python, a full two meters long, had crashed through the window from the outside. It was glaring menacingly at Leng Xuelang, its fork-tongued flicking continuously, its sharp fangs bared, ready to sink into her at any moment!
Jiu Yi recognized this type of snake. It was a five pacer viper, highly common in tropical and subtropical regions. It was extremely venomous, and judging by its size, this particular snake had lived for several decades.
Leng Xuelang was already frozen stiff with terror. Tears streamed down her face continuously. The moment she saw Jiu Yi appear, she cried out tremulously, “President Jiu…”
Tracking the sound of her voice, the snake turned its gaze toward Jiu Yi. Its pupils slit vertically. The scent drifting through the air seemed to make it vastly more interested in her. It almost instantly abandoned Leng Xuelang and slithered rapidly toward Jiu Yi’s position, intent on striking.
“You… go away! Don’t worry about me!” Leng Xuelang’s voice shook violently. Seeing that the snake was about to attack Jiu Yi, she blurted out the words without a second thought.
The moment her voice fell, the snake’s offensive became even more fierce and terrifying, leaving absolutely no time for anyone to react.
Jiu Yi cast a glance at her, and after confirming she was unharmed, she reached out with her bare hands to grab the snake right at its seven inch mark (the fatal spot), pinning it down tightly in her grip so it couldn’t budge an inch.
Leng Xuelang never expected that not only was Jiu Yi unafraid of the snake, but she could also pin it down with such clinical precision. Her eyes widened slightly, and a dark, complicated glint flashed across her gaze, seemingly laced with a touch of resentment.
But all of this… was actually just the beginning.
“Xin Tang!” Jiu Yi calmly pinned the snake down. The creature refused to give up, its eyes filled with a primal hunger for food and fury at being inexplicably captured. It thrashed and writhed, trying desperately to retaliate.
Jiu Yi had very little patience for such ferocious beasts. With a forceful throw, she slammed it onto the floor, then drew the cane resting beside her wheelchair and impaled its seven inch mark into the ground. The five pacer viper began to hiss in agony, its cries full of malice and utterly wretched.
Watching from the side, Leng Xuelang also seemed caught off guard. The snake’s agonizing and miserable cries resonated with her, making her feel as though she were experiencing the same excruciating torment.
She parted her lips to look at Jiu Yi, suddenly feeling that this woman was as terrifying as a demon, and she couldn’t bring herself to meet her gaze.
“Are you alright?” Having subdued the snake, Jiu Yi left Xin Tang to handle the aftermath. She rolled her wheelchair over to Leng Xuelang and asked with concern.
Staring at the flawless, breathtaking face right in front of her, Leng Xuelang’s heart shuddered violently. A wave of nausea washed over her; she didn’t want to look at her anymore.
Yet, refusing to give up, she reached out and poked Jiu Yi’s arm. It felt no different from her own. How could such a sickly body unleash such explosive strength to subdue that snake?
That was a five pacer viper that had lived for at least fifty years. It had devoured countless chickens, ducks, and geese, and had even fought off tigers. How could it possibly lose to a mere human like Jiu Yi?
“What’s wrong? Scared out of your wits?” Jiu Yi looked at her caringly and poured a cup of warm water for her, asking gently.
“I… I’ve never seen such a massive venomous snake… I… why is there such a large snake here?” Leng Xuelang’s hands shook as she took the warm water. She really seemed terrified to her core, the water kept splashing out, nearly soaking her clothes.
“It’s just how things are around here. Don’t be afraid. You’ll get used to it after going through it a few more times,” Jiu Yi said, offering such speechless words of comfort when she saw that the girl couldn’t even hold a cup of water steady. She took the cup back and personally fed it to her lips.
[Host, Leng Xuelang’s favorability… wait, her hatred points toward you just spiked again.]
The system reported in a panic. It was genuinely terrified that this target would black out and force the host to restart the conquest mission all over again.
Jiu Yi was puzzled. “Didn’t I just save her? Shouldn’t she be grateful?”
[You told her she’d get used to it after experiencing it a few more times… Who on earth wants to experience this a few more times?]
“That snake would make a pretty good pet once its venom fangs are pulled,” Jiu Yi replied.
Hearing how utterly serious her tone was, the system grew even more speechless:
[That is a protected species, you cannot keep it as a pet.]
“Wait, do endangered species even exist in an ABO world?”
[Of course they do! Host, please just hurry up and coax Leng Xuelang,] the system practically begged her.
Jiu Yi was in no hurry. After feeding her the water, she asked, “Still terrified?” She could feel her entire body trembling, her eyes rimmed with red, looking quite pitiful.
Leng Xuelang didn’t speak. She just looked at her, the terror still lingering in her eyes.
“I know a method that can make you feel less afraid,” Jiu Yi comforted her softly.
“What is it?”
“Close your eyes and follow me.”
“Can I not close them?” Leng Xuelang was currently like a bird startled by the mere twang of a bowstring, there was no way she could close her eyes.
“Then the effectiveness of this method will be cut in half,” Jiu Yi stated, making it sound incredibly solemn.
Leng Xuelang was half-skeptical, but she wasn’t afraid of her. She closed her eyes and proactively took Jiu Yi’s hand, waiting for her next move.
Jiu Yi led her away from the chaotic room and walked out. They didn’t go very far before Jiu Yi had her sit down. “You can open your eyes now.”
Leng Xuelang opened them as told. Placed right in front of her was a tablet displaying a certain document, flanked by several thick stacks of fresh files. Jiu Yi personally guided her hands onto the keyboard, smiling as she said, “Losing yourself in work can make a person forget all their displeasure and fear. I will also be right here by your side, so you will definitely be able to focus on your work even better.”
Leng Xuelang: ?
System: […]
Help, somebody save me, somebody save me!
[Host, Leng Xuelang’s hatred points toward you are skyrocketing right now! Ahhhh! Take back what you just said right now! Ahhhh!]
“Once she tries this method, she’ll get addicted to it and thank me later. This is the optimal method.”
System: […]
Save me, save me, save me qvq~
“Didn’t you say you wanted to do planning? I originally scheduled your interview for tomorrow, but seeing how terrified you were just now, I was forced to bring it forward.” Seeing her frozen state with a lack of emotion, Jiu Yi explained her intent. “Whenever I am in a bad mood, I throw myself into my work. The results are immediate.”
“I am not you,” Leng Xuelang said with absolute calm.
“It’s paid. I won’t make you work for free.”
“Is there nothing else besides a salary?” Leng Xuelang wasn’t about to compromise that easily. What kind of decent person forces an Omega who just suffered a massive fright to immediately bury her head in work?
Is she some kind of heartless sweatshop boss?
“What do you want?” Jiu Yi asked patiently.
Leng Xuelang looked up to meet her gaze, pursing her lips tightly, but chose to remain silent.
Jiu Yi stared back at her for a long while before finally coming to her senses, seemingly realizing what she wanted. It dawned on her. “Tonight, I’ll arrange for pomelo leaf boiled water for your bath.”
System: Faints completely (I’m going to cough up blood and die, wuuu)
“…That’s not it.” She was completely insulated from romance.
“Then what is it?” Jiu Yi truly didn’t know how to coax people. If you asked her to plot against someone or make money, she would be an absolute expert. But coaxing someone? That was far too difficult.
Leng Xuelang fell silent again, lowering her lashes. A faint blush seemed to creep onto the tips of her ears.
Jiu Yi watched her for a moment. Seeing that the Omega’s fingertips were still trembling slightly, proving she really was terrified but stubbornly refusing to show it, compassion finally won over. She slowly pushed her body up from the wheelchair, leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Don’t be afraid. It’s just a snake. It’s already been dealt with.”
Leng Xuelang never expected that she would proactively kiss her forehead. She froze completely, her eyes widening slightly as she looked at her, seemingly in disbelief. “What did you… what did you just do to me?”
“Just a touch on your forehead. How is it? Feel any better?” Jiu Yi remained perfectly composed from start to finish, while Leng Xuelang’s mind was thrown into total chaos. “Why did you kiss me?”
“Am I not allowed to kiss you?”
“I didn’t even agree to it.”
“Fine, then you can kiss me back to call it even.”
System: …My ancestor, please stop talking, wuuu~
“Not going to kiss me? If you’re not going to kiss me, then start writing the proposal. It doesn’t need to be too detailed, just a rough draft will do.” She paused before adding, “Around 2000 words should be about right.”
Leng Xuelang: This is infuriating!
For the rest of the time, Jiu Yi truly stayed by her side to keep her company. First, she listened to Xin Tang’s report. The snake seemed to have been drugged or something, even though it was locked securely in a cage, it remained in a hyper-frenzied state, which was quite alarming.
“Have a professional veterinarian come take a look. Release it back into the wild only after figuring out what’s going on,” Jiu Yi instructed.
“Understood.” Xin Tang still had lingering fears as she asked Jiu Yi, “President Jiu, did you get hurt at all?”
“I’m fine.” A snake like this was nothing to Jiu Yi. “Bring breakfast up. What time is the auction?”
“In the afternoon.”
“Prepare an extra set of formal wear, and get a few sets of other clothes ready too.”
“President Jiu, we have already brought over Miss Leng’s luggage,” Xin Tang replied, assuming the request for other clothes was meant for Leng Xuelang.
“Then give them to her so she can choose for herself, but make sure to prepare an extra evening gown regardless.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Considering that Leng Xuelang’s current state could easily trigger a stress response, Jiu Yi personally brought the luggage over to let her choose her clothes. She couldn’t very well keep wearing a nightgown that was held together by just a few straps.
However, the moment she helped her open the suitcase, before she could even see what was inside, something suddenly shot out from the depths of the luggage, flying straight toward her face.
