The Abandoned Princess, Yet She Is Loved - Chapter 110
The metallic clash of spears and swords echoed across the plains. At the same time, a flash of blue mana streaked across the sky with a crackling sound.
Wherever the cacophony passed, blood and screams followed.
Frederick leaped over five corpses without hesitation and charged at the enemy. With a flash of his blade, four heads flew in succession.
“Huff…”
Letting out a quiet sigh, he counted the enemy forces.
They had been in a fierce battle for several days. The Imperial Knights led by Frederick and the forces of Vladimir were locked in brutal combat, yet the conflict had not reached a conclusion.
Frederick cut down enemies like a madman. The Imperial Knights were skilled, but Vladimir’s private army, along with the nobles supporting him, and reinforcements from the Bahorne Empire—including their mages—were simply too numerous. Especially troublesome were the Bahorne Empire’s cavalry, whose combat power was formidable.
‘This is tougher than that time.’
Compared to previous battles where Frederick had distinguished himself, the enemy was both more numerous and more capable.
Though they weren’t on the verge of defeat, subduing and forcing most of the rebels into surrender would take more time. It wasn’t easy holding them back with just the mages and the Imperial Knights.
Rubens had sent requests to noble houses for reinforcements. They promised support soon, and the goal was to inflict maximum damage until then.
Frederick steadied his breathing before moving again.
Regardless of victory, the rising death toll among the Imperial Knights weighed heavily on him. He wanted to preserve even a single life, and to do so, he needed to push the tide of battle faster.
‘At this rate, we should be able to suppress them in a few more days. Especially if the reinforcements arrive…’
Thankfully, the situation wasn’t entirely dire. He believed they could handle the rebellion with a bit more time.
That’s when it happened—a brilliant white light exploded in the sky.
It burst in the middle of the heavens, expanding outward like a shockwave before vanishing in a sudden flare.
“Wh-what is that?!”
As the light faded, the knights gasped in horror.
A man was floating in the air.
He was much larger than the average person, with long white hair and dressed entirely in white garments.
He looked less like a human and more like some divine being from legend.
That man—Felixius—slowly opened his eyes and looked down. His pupils were pure white and empty.
It was a change brought about after accepting the Quantum, gaining a divine body and power.
“It was worth coming to help my friend.”
Seeing the fear and terror in the eyes of the Imperial Knights gave him a rush of excitement from deep within.
He had always longed for this—not just to rule his empire’s subjects, but to see the world look up at him with utter dread.
To be watched helplessly by all.
“Then I suppose it’s time to give them a taste.”
Smiling, he gathered energy into his hands. A pure white aura swelled within his palms.
“W-what is that…?”
“Fall back.”
Frederick snapped the dazed knights out of their stupor.
‘It’s the same power Grace uses.’
He recognized immediately that Felixius was the ruler of the Bahorne Empire.
‘He sacrificed children, drew their blood, and absorbed Quantum to gain this power.’
No one had said it outright, but the truth was obvious.
Vladimir had kidnapped children from the temple orphanage and extracted their blood, but he himself did not take the Quantum—instead, he drew in the Bahorne Empire’s military. The one who gained the power had to be its emperor.
“An enemy in the sky…”
“Prepare to attack!”
While the knights stood frozen in shock, the mages quickly formed ranks and prepared to strike.
Herbenton, master of the mage tower, coordinated them to channel and merge their mana together.
Just as a massive orb of mana flew into the air, a similarly enormous sphere of Quantum swelled in Felixius’s hand and began to fall.
The two forces collided in midair, with a sound like thunder. Sparks flew at the edges of the impact, the two energies grinding against each other.
The mages poured in more mana, desperately trying not to be overpowered.
Meanwhile, Felixius, utterly unfazed, simply raised his hand. As he did, the mana dispersed in midair—disintegrated.
The Quantum sphere continued to fall.
“Dodge it!”
The mages screamed and scattered in panic.
With a deafening crash, the Quantum struck the ground. The blinding white flash forced everyone nearby to shut their eyes.
When the light faded, those on the battlefield were horrified by the sight.
A massive crater had formed where the Quantum had hit. Those who failed to escape in time were torn apart, their bodies strewn at the crater’s edge.
Such destruction—mana had been shattered in an instant, and the earth itself broken apart.
Even the Armento Earth Manipulators couldn’t shatter the ground this wide or this deep.
“A god… is it a god?”
“No—it’s a demon!”
One by one, panic spread among their ranks. Cries of terror erupted.
Felixius launched more attacks across the battlefield. Thousands of blades flew at once, and enormous Quantum bombs rained down and exploded. Those hits were skewered or blown to pieces.
‘So this is the power of Quantum.’
A power gained by sacrificing countless children’s lives—its destructive might was undeniable.
This was Vladimir’s ultimate weapon.
Frederick’s gaze darkened as he assessed the situation. Vladimir must have known that reclaiming the capital and taking the throne would be impossible as long as Frederick and the elite Imperial Knights remained.
For him, foreign aid wasn’t a choice—it was a necessity.
And military support was only part of the help he had received. He had allied with a monster born from divine essence. That monster had come to destroy everything.
‘Taking down that creature is the highest priority.’
Frederick began cutting through the enemy even faster. If they didn’t stop that monster soon, friendly casualties would skyrocket.
Clearing a path through the enemy, Frederick mounted his horse and charged toward Felixius.
“……”
Slashing down anything in his way, he raced straight for him.
“Haha! These weaklings!”
Felixius, still gleefully raining destruction, suddenly felt a sharp, focused killing intent heading his way.
“…What? Who the hell is that?”
Felixius scowled.
Most ran from him in fear or stood frozen. But now, he saw a man on horseback, helmeted, charging directly at him without an ounce of hesitation.
“The Duke of Winstaine…”
Only after seeing the blue aura surrounding his blade did Felixius realize who it was—Frederick Winstaine, the strongest Swordmaster on the continent.
“So what? It’s meaningless.”
Felixius floated above the battlefield. What could a swordsman possibly do?
“He won’t even be able to strike me. Why bother?”
Was his brain made of muscle too? No common sense at all?
“A fool like him deserves to be taught a painful lesson.”
Felixius sneered and fired thousands of Quantum arrows at him, intending to turn him into a pincushion.
“Wh-why isn’t he—?!”
But the result was not what he expected. Frederick struck down every arrow with his sword. His arm moved so fast it was almost invisible.
Mana itself had crumbled under Felixius’s power—but against Frederick’s blade, his power was what was being nullified.
Seeing Frederick calmly cut through the hail of arrows and press forward, a flicker of shock crossed Felixius’s face.
So this was the true strength of the war hero and Swordmaster—Duke Frederick Winstaine.
“But… he still can’t be my match. I have the power of a god.”
Felixius narrowed his eyes and muttered. No matter how strong Frederick was, he couldn’t surpass human limits.
“Unlike that woman, who got divine power and didn’t know how to use it… I’ve spent nearly ten years learning to wield it.”
