- Chapter 21 - The Collision
“Excuse me.”
A soft, supple body fell into Si Xuan’s arms. The scent of clean, crisp mountain spring water filled his nose, with a faint, chilling fragrance in the base notes.
Si Xuan’s first reaction was that he had collided with a girl. His second reaction was that a girl is indeed a girl—her waist felt different from a man’s, being so slender. However, he wondered if she was perhaps a bit tall.
He looked up, and his pupils dilated instantly. What came into view was the cold, beautiful face of the Second Young Master Shen. A light flush tinted his delicate, refined features, clearly betraying his simmering anger.
Shen Jiayu had been looking down, rummaging through his bag for his earphones, when he was suddenly knocked over by a force like a bull. His bag fell, and his belongings scattered all over the floor. The hand on his waist tightened even further. He shoved the revolting, penniless brat away, brushed off his clothes, and glared at Si Xuan with sharp, phoenix eyes: “What, do you want to lose your other hand too?”
Si Xuan finally came to his senses. He composed his expression and said calmly, “Classmate Shen, I apologize.”
“Do you think a simple apology is enough?” Shen Jiayu crossed his arms and stared at him.
Si Xuan squatted down and picked up the scattered items. “I’m sorry, Classmate Shen. I will pick them up for you.” He placed everything back into the bag and handed it to Shen Jiayu.
Unexpectedly, Shen Jiayu swatted the bag away, causing the items he had just retrieved to spill onto the ground again.
Nearby students clearly noticed the scene and began whispering among themselves; some even took out their phones to secretly record. The crowd was waiting for some gossip about the school heartthrob, but unexpectedly, the bell rang. Forced to leave, they cursed under their breath and reluctantly headed to class.
The corridor was left with only Shen Jiayu and Si Xuan facing each other.
Si Xuan picked up the bag again and said indifferently, “Classmate Shen, what do you want? I bumped into you, but you were also bumping into me.”
“Keep the bag. I want everything inside disinfected and delivered to me.”
Shen Jiayu bypassed him and walked into the classroom.
Si Xuan was left standing there, completely baffled. Did Shen Jiayu have mysophobia? He hadn’t heard that from any of the school’s fan clubs. He had no choice but to take the bag to the infirmary, buy two bottles of alcohol, and disinfect every single item.
There were very few things in the bag: a few professional books, a pair of earphones, a pack of tissues, a wallet, car keys, and a bottle of water. There wasn’t even a pen.
Si Xuan looked at the wallet, his thoughts drifting. After a moment of internal struggle, he couldn’t suppress his urge to pry. After all, one must know oneself and the enemy to be victorious. This Shen Jiayu clearly looked like an angel, yet his personality was like a demon. The corners of Si Xuan’s mouth curled up, his eyes flashing. Angel or demon, he would make him submit.
The black wallet looked expensive and still carried Shen Jiayu’s scent. Opening it, he found an ID card, several bank cards, and a photo. The photo showed a family of four—a man, a woman, and two children. The shorter one was smiling brilliantly, hugging the arm of the taller child, looking like a little jade doll, while the older one held a stern, expressionless face.
This must be the Eldest Young Master Shen, Si Xuan thought. He looked back at the ID photo; even in a government-issued photo, the Second Young Master Shen exuded cold arrogance and disdain, reminding Si Xuan of the game protagonist model he had discussed with his classmates a few days ago. If that model were to step into the real world, it would probably look exactly like this.
Looking at the birth date on the ID card, he realized it was exactly the same as his own! What a coincidence!
Si Xuan’s expression flickered. He took out his phone and snapped a photo.
Back in the classroom, he saw Shen Jiayu sitting in the last row, the seat beside him empty. Si Xuan walked over, sat down, and placed the plastic bag on Shen Jiayu’s desk.
Shen Jiayu was still looking down at his phone, frustrated by the lack of his earphones, when he suddenly felt a shadow fall over him. He looked up to see a plastic bag sitting on his desk.
He looked momentarily stunned.
Seeing the expression on the Second Young Master’s face, Si Xuan felt the corners of his mouth twitch into a smile.
When realization hit Shen Jiayu, it was followed by fury. He was the young master of the Shen family—every bag he owned cost tens of thousands, and every bottle of water cost hundreds. When had he ever been exposed to such low-end things? He felt completely insulted.
He asked with a darkened face, “What is this?”
“Didn’t you say you didn’t want the bag? So I threw it away. Don’t worry about the bag; I have disinfected it inside and out.”
Shen Jiayu radiated a low pressure. With a wave of his hand, the plastic bag was swatted away. The contents scattered everywhere, making a thud loud enough to echo through the classroom. He stood up abruptly and strode out of his seat.
The commotion naturally drew the attention of hundreds of people in the large lecture hall. They all turned to look, and the professor stopped lecturing, looking toward the back. “Students in the back, what are you doing?”
“Teacher, I dropped my things. I’m sorry, please continue with the lecture.” Si Xuan then turned to Shen Jiayu and said, “Second Young Master, calm down.”
Shen Jiayu ignored him completely. Facing the gaze of the entire room, he strode away with his long legs.
Si Xuan resignedly picked up the items, grabbed the bag, stuffed everything back inside, and chased after him.
He caught up and grabbed Shen Jiayu by the forearm. “Second Young Master, your bag.”
Shen Jiayu had a foul expression. He shook off his hand and hissed, “Get lost!”
“Take your bag, and I will get lost.”
“I don’t want it, damn it. Take it and throw it away!” Shen Jiayu walked straight ahead.
The commotion in the hallway was significant. Students sitting by the windows turned toward them, and even the teacher’s voice faltered.
Si Xuan noticed the faces watching the show. He grabbed Shen Jiayu and covered his mouth, dragging him toward the stairwell.
Shen Jiayu, with his mouth covered, was stunned by the strange sensation on his lips—a situation he had never encountered before. It wasn’t until he was pulled into an embrace and forcibly dragged away that he began to struggle violently.
However, the difference in height and build, combined with Si Xuan’s unnatural strength, made it impossible for him to break free. He could only make muffled sounds.
When they reached the stairwell and Si Xuan let go, Shen Jiayu’s face was beet red, whether from being smothered or from anger, it was hard to tell.
The moment he was released, a slap landed across Si Xuan’s face.
Smack.
The sound even echoed in the stairwell. A clear, five-fingered handprint appeared on Si Xuan’s face.
“You are looking to die!”
Shen Jiayu’s chest heaved violently, like a volcano about to erupt. The air around him became stifling with his rage, sending chills down one’s spine.
The next second, his clenched fist swung toward Si Xuan’s face with a whistling sound.
Si Xuan dodged, grabbed Shen Jiayu’s wrist, and with a reverse motion, pinned his arms behind his back, locking him against the wall in a combat hold.
In all his life, Shen Jiayu had never suffered such humiliation. His phoenix eyes widened, seemingly erupting with flames. The sheer fury swept over him, making his entire body tremble.
He gritted his teeth. “Bastard!”
“Second Young Master, I wanted to speak to you properly, but you wouldn’t listen. You have hit me and cursed me; you should be satisfied now. Take your things back.”
Si Xuan was pressed against Shen Jiayu’s back. At this distance, he could clearly smell the crisp, sweet scent of Shen Jiayu’s hair. From this angle, he could clearly see his perfect profile, his flushed face, his long, raven-feather-like eyelashes, and even the tiny red mole at the corner of his eye.
His breath puffed against Shen Jiayu’s delicate earlobe, instantly turning it a soft red.
“Get away!”
Only when the revolting scent of male hormones dissipated did Shen Jiayu feel like he could breathe again. Then, something was shoved into his arms.
“Second Young Master, keep your bag safe. If you throw it away again, I will just bring it back to you.”
After saying this, Si Xuan spread his hands and disappeared into the stairwell.
“Damn it!”
Left alone, Shen Jiayu was still like a keg of dynamite ready to explode. He slammed the bag in his arms down hard.
What an absolute insult! When had he, Shen Jiayu, ever been treated like this? He would definitely make that bastard pay!
With his chest heaving, Shen Jiayu took several deep breaths. He stood there for a long while before taking out his phone to make a call. “Send me another bag. What kind of bag? A backpack, a shoulder bag, a handbag—anything! Just hurry up! I want to see it by noon.”
Just as he hung up, Wang Yue rushed over, panting. “Second Young Master, I heard you and some guy got into a big fight in class? Who was it, being so arrogant?”
Shen Jiayu was speechless. In such a short time, it had already turned into a “big fight.” It was ridiculous.
“It’s all just rumors. It wasn’t that serious.”
“Second Young Master, don’t hold back if you have been wronged. If anything happens, you must tell your brothers. I will help you vent your anger.” Wang Yue looked determined.
“Is there anyone who could make me feel wronged?” Shen Jiayu rolled his eyes.
Wang Yue laughed. “That’s true. Who would have the heart to wrong you? By the way, Second Young Master, are you eating at home today? If not, come eat out with me. It’s rare for you to eat at school.”
“Let’s go.”
The two walked toward the school gate, meeting a few other friends along the way, and headed off to eat together.
The restaurant was in the food plaza outside the school, only a few hundred meters from the main entrance. When they arrived, the place was packed. Wang Yue, an acquaintance of the owner, exchanged greetings and set up a table outside.
“Second Young Master, you have never eaten in a place like this, right? Don’t let the environment fool you; the taste is absolutely top-tier. The chef is from the southern border; he can’t even speak Mandarin, but the food is incredibly authentic.” Wang Yue wiped the table and chairs, and began disinfecting the utensils.
The environment was indeed poor—the kind that would make Shen Youlin drag him to the hospital for a full physical check-up if he saw it. In normal times, he probably wouldn’t have stepped into this food plaza. The air was filled with greasy smoke, the tables were old, the walls were yellowed with a thin layer of oil, and although the ground looked clean, it was visibly shiny with oil.
Soon, the dishes arrived.
The owner, a stout middle-aged man with a potbelly, personally brought the dishes over, greeting them warmly. “Classmate Wang, I haven’t seen you in a few days. You should have given me a heads-up so I could have reserved a table for you inside.” As he set the food down, he noticed Shen Jiayu at the head of the table. His expression turned to one of surprise. “Oh, is this a new student? I haven’t seen him before—he is incredibly handsome.”
