- Chapter 26 - The Peach Blossom Calamity Turns into a Deadly Attraction
Tan Lingyin explained, “It means that once you enter someone else’s peach blossom calamity, you’ll also fall in love with that person. When the time comes to resolve it, you’ll resist it fiercely.”
“Fall in love?” Huo Jingyan narrowed his eyes slightly, his fingertips rubbing together. “Is it certain?”
“Not necessarily…” Tan Lingyin’s expression suddenly changed. “Oh no! The peach blossom calamity has turned into a deadly attraction!”
Just then, the red aura between Huo Jingyan’s brows abruptly turned black.
“What!?” Master Xuanqing widened his eyes and immediately looked at Huo Jingyan. “This is bad, this is really bad! Once you’re caught in a deadly attraction, you’ll be deeply entangled, loving with your very life!”
“Jingyan, you absolutely must not leave the house tomorrow!”
Tan Lingyin, however, shook her head slightly. “No, once a deadly attraction forms, something will inevitably happen tomorrow that forces him to go out.”
“I never expected the other party to be so capable, even capable of scheming against Mr. Huo.”
Xuan Qing added, “There’s no helping it. Jingyan’s life calamity is approaching, and his luck has weakened. If anyone targets him, manipulating him would be effortless!”
Tan Lingyin sat beside Huo Jingyan and reached out. “Give me your hand.”
Huo Jingyan clenched his fingers and asked in a deep voice, “What for?”
“Drawing a talisman.” Tan Lingyin directly grasped his wrist and pulled his large hand toward her.
The man’s hand rested on her thigh, and even through the fabric of her skirt, the warmth of her skin seeped into the back of his hand.
That soft sensation was something he had never experienced before.
“Open your palm,” Tan Lingyin said as she gently smoothed his fingers with hers.
Her slender, fair fingers lightly pushed against his, the motion almost as if she were about to interlace them with his.
The coolness of her fingertips sent a faint electric current through him upon contact, making him tense up again.
Tan Lingyin traced her fingers over his palm twice. “Tomorrow is Friday, and I have a weekly exam. I can’t skip class or leave school. I’m going to draw a Divine Light Talisman on your hand now.”
Master Xuanqing asked curiously, “You can draw it on a hand?”
Tan Lingyin nodded. “Yes, but don’t speak for now.”
Her fingertips gathered mystical energy, and a golden light slowly brightened.
The cool touch of her fingers glided lightly over Huo Jingyan’s palm.
He lowered his gaze to watch her fair, delicate hand, the tingling sensation in his palm making him want to seize her fingers.
The long hair she had tucked behind her ear slipped forward as she bent her head, the ends brushing against his forearm.
It tickled.
Like an electric current, it traveled from his palm to his arm, then spread throughout his body.
His heartbeat quickened involuntarily.
His gaze lingered on her profile, tracing the delicate curve of her nose, her slightly pursed pink lips, and the long, curled lashes that remained still in her concentration.
The surroundings seemed to fade into blankness—his eyes held only her.
Once the talisman was complete, Tan Lingyin recited an incantation.
A golden spiritual symbol slowly glowed to life on Huo Jingyan’s pale palm.
“Mr. Huo, activating the Divine Light Talisman requires a spell. I’ll teach it to you now—you must memorize it well.”
Tan Lingyin turned her head and met Huo Jingyan’s gaze.
Their eyes locked, and Huo Jingyan’s lashes trembled slightly.
He cleared his throat softly. “Please go ahead, Miss Tan. I’ll remember it well.”
“Heaven’s law is clear and pure, Earth’s law is bright and keen. Divine light’s mirror, reveal the true form swiftly…”
Tan Lingyin recited the incantation once, then reminded, “When chanting, you must be fast—no need for clear enunciation, just recite it quickly once.”
Huo Jingyan nodded and repeated the mantra.
“Not a single word wrong!” Tan Lingyin smiled approvingly and added, “Whenever you feel something is off, just point your palm at the person in front of you and chant the incantation quickly. They won’t dare come near you.”
Huo Jingyan clenched his palm, feeling it grow warm. “Thank you, Miss Tan.”
“Why thank me? I said I’d protect your life, and I meant it!” Tan Lingyin grinned and patted his shoulder.
Master Xuanqing hurriedly interjected, “Young girl, you still haven’t explained how the spirit talisman can be drawn on a hand!”
“Moreover, Jingyan has no mystical energy. Even if he chants the incantation, he can’t activate the Divine Light Talisman!”
Tan Lingyin raised an eyebrow, her pretty face full of smugness. “That’s a secret. If you want to know, you’ll have to take me as your master!”
“You!” Xuan Qing huffed in indignation, his beard bristling. “I am the 59th-generation heir of the Purple Cloud Sect! The abbot of Purple Cloud Temple! How could I possibly take you as my master!”
Seeing his anger, Tan Lingyin chuckled. “Alright, I was just teasing you.”
“It’s because I’ve already activated the Divine Light Talisman. Mr. Huo only needs to chant the incantation, and the mystical energy I left within the talisman will naturally make it glow.”
“As for why I can draw a spirit talisman on his hand—it’s simply because my cultivation is profound, that’s all.”
Xuan Qing’s eyes widened. “You? Profound cultivation?”
This little girl really knew how to boast!
Even if he admitted she had some skills, how could “profound cultivation” possibly apply to her?
Tan Lingyin smiled. “Believe it or not, I’m going to sleep. I have an exam tomorrow!”
She winked at Huo Jingyan. “Goodnight, Mr. Huo~”
With that, she tiptoed away, hopping like a little rabbit until her pale pink skirt disappeared around the corner.
Huo Jingyan watched her leave before lowering his gaze to his palm.
There was nothing there—as if the glowing talisman had vanished without a trace.
Master Xuanqing warned, “No matter the reason, if you go out tomorrow, you must take me with you!”
“Mm. You should rest early too,” Huo Jingyan replied in a low voice before standing and returning to his room.
Xuanqing sat alone in the living room for a while, frowning in worry, before finally retiring as well.
Early the next morning, Tan Lingyin rose and began practicing Tai Chi.
Xuanqing was also an early riser, and soon the old man and the young girl were performing the slow, deliberate movements together in the courtyard.
Their motions were synchronized, as if they had trained side by side for years.
Huo Jingyan, tense and restless, had woken early as well.
He leaned against the windowsill, sipping coffee while Li Heng briefed him on work matters.
“President Huo, would you like to personally inspect the project we won in the bid?”
Huo Jingyan replied indifferently, “No need. You go take a look.”
Li Heng nodded, then glanced out the window. “President Huo, don’t you think Master Xuanqing’s Tai Chi isn’t as good as Miss Tan’s?”
“You noticed that too?” Huo Jingyan raised an eyebrow slightly, praising, “As expected of my assistant.”
“Ah, don’t tease me.” Li Heng scratched his head with a grin. “It’s just that Miss Tan’s movements seem so real—like she’s actually sparring with an invisible opponent.”
Huo Jingyan nodded. “Indeed.”
After breakfast, Tan Lingyin was ready to head to school.
Before leaving, she made Huo Jingyan recite the incantation once more to ensure he hadn’t forgotten it. Only then did she let Zheng Han drive her.
She absolutely couldn’t miss today’s exam.
