- Surprise! The Fake Heiress is Actually an Ancient Master of Metaphysics!
- Chapter 24 - A Billion? No Problem!
Tan Lingyin spoke calmly, “Of course it can be resolved. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have called them back.”
This matter was related to Chen Qing. Since she had sent Chen Qing into the cycle of the Human Realm, she would naturally resolve any disturbances caused by him.
“Thank you, Master Tan!” Zhao Xingchen quickly said, then shot a meaningful glance at his sister.
Zhao Xingyue also expressed her gratitude sincerely.
Master Xuanqing and Huo Jingyan stood at the door, neither entering the room.
Inside lay two corpses, their deathly aura too heavy—Huo Jingyan naturally couldn’t step in.
As for Master Xuanqing, he simply didn’t want to get involved.
Tan Lingyin turned her gaze to the two ghostly figures floating by the bed and said coldly, “Your lifespans weren’t meant to end yet, but you died due to your own misdeeds. Do you regret it?”
The white-haired old man lowered his head, his voice hoarse as he replied, “I regret it… deeply…”
The female ghost beside him also whispered, “I got what I deserved.”
In their youth, they had been ruthless, treating human lives as nothing. Now, their regrets came too late.
The others in the room couldn’t hear Tan Lingyin’s conversation with the ghosts.
These souls had just died, lacking any cultivation, so their words couldn’t form ghostly sounds audible to the living.
Tan Lingyin couldn’t be bothered to use a Manifestation Talisman—there was no point in letting Zhao Deming and the others see them.
She said coldly, “In life, you committed many wrongs, ruining people’s lives and fortunes. But considering your sins weren’t utterly unforgivable, I’ll send you into the Animal Realm. In your next life, you’ll be reborn as cattle, horses, or livestock to atone for your crimes.”
After death, souls naturally understood the Six Paths of Reincarnation, so the two ghosts actually felt a hint of relief.
“Thank you, Master!”
“We’re willing to enter the Animal Realm!”
Being reborn as animals was far better than suffering in the Hungry Ghost Realm or the Hell Realm!
The Six Paths of Reincarnation were divided into the Three Virtuous Paths and the Three Evil Paths.
The Three Virtuous Paths were the Deva Realm, the Asura Realm, and the Human Realm.
The Three Evil Paths were the Animal Realm, the Hungry Ghost Realm, and the Hell Realm.
In terms of desirability, the Deva Realm was the best, while the Hell Realm was the worst.
Tan Lingyin scoffed and said indifferently, “I don’t deserve your thanks. Honestly, I’d prefer to send you to the Hungry Ghost Realm—but you’re not even qualified for that.”
The Zhao family’s status as the wealthiest in Nancheng was largely built by Zhao Deming’s efforts.
Had their vast fortune been entirely amassed through these two ghosts’ misdeeds, she would’ve definitely sent them to the Hungry Ghost Realm.
Tan Lingyin tossed out a pre-drawn talisman, channeling her mystic energy to make it hover in the air.
The spiritual symbols on the talisman were drawn in cinnabar. Thanks to her powerful soul and the daily exposure to Huo Jingyan’s purple aura, the talisman only needed to be carried on her person for three days to activate.
Normally, high-level talismans required an occult master to carry them for at least half a month—or even longer if the master’s power was insufficient.
The Animal Realm Talisman glowed in the air as Tan Lingyin chanted an obscure incantation, the spiritual patterns on the paper radiating light.
A sudden gust of wind swept through the room, making the curtains sway violently.
Zhao Deming and his wife had seen this before and weren’t shocked, but Zhao Xingchen and Zhao Xingyue were wide-eyed, their jaws nearly hitting the floor.
Tan Lingyin poured mystic energy into the talisman and commanded in a clear, low voice, “Six Paths of Reincarnation—Animal Realm, open!”
In an instant, a crack split the talisman down the middle.
“Leave quickly!” She glanced at the two ghosts, her tone urgent.
Not daring to delay, the two ghosts swiftly floated inside.
Tan Lingyin recited a few incantations, and the pathway to the Animal Realm vanished. The talisman in midair quickly burned to ashes, disappearing without a trace.
“Master Tan, you’re amazing!” Zhao Xingchen immediately flattered, his eyes sparkling as he gazed at her profile.
Tan Lingyin gave him a cool sidelong glance. “Keep staring at me like that, and you can find someone else to deal with your bad luck.”
Zhao Deming promptly scolded him, “Xingchen, behave! Don’t bring your frivolous ways back home!”
Zhao Xingchen hastily retreated behind Zhao Deming, not daring to lift his head again.
Master Xuanqing suddenly turned to Huo Jingyan. “Hmm… did you just laugh?”
Huo Jingyan calmly smoothed the faint curve at the corner of his lips and replied indifferently, “No.”
“Really? I could’ve sworn I heard you chuckle…” Master Xuanqing scratched his ear. “Am I getting old? Hearing things?”
“Yes, you’re old,” Huo Jingyan said flatly.
His gaze lingered on Tan Lingyin’s expressionless face—cold as ice, untouchable.
Tan Lingyin walked toward the door. “Let’s talk downstairs. The smell here is too strong.”
As she passed by Huo Jingyan, their eyes met, and she gave him a faint smile.
For some reason, Huo Jingyan felt an inexplicable surge of joy at her smile directed at him.
Downstairs in the living room, Tan Lingyin sat on the sofa and retrieved two prepared charm pouches from her bag.
She handed one to Zhao Xingyue and instructed, “Keep this on you for three days. Your bad luck will disappear.”
Zhao Xingyue thanked her profusely, carefully clutching the pouch in her hand.
When it was Zhao Xingchen’s turn, Tan Lingyin simply tossed it to him, her tone shifting. “Don’t take it off, even when you sleep. Otherwise, the consequences are on you.”
Zhao Xingchen flushed with embarrassment and nodded meekly. “I’ll remember.”
It felt like Master Tan had already deduced many of his misdeeds.
Oh well. Dating a mystic would make it impossible to keep up his playboy lifestyle.
Tan Lingyin had little patience for frivolous men like Zhao Xingchen.
Helping him dispel his bad luck was merely part of cleaning up Chen Qing’s mess, and Zhao Deming was a generous philanthropist—worth her assistance.
Zhao Deming shot his disappointing son a glare before turning to Tan Lingyin with reverence. “Master Tan, you’ve done so much for us, even helping my children with their misfortune. Name your price—I’ll pay anything!”
Tan Lingyin raised a brow. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll ask for so much that you’ll lose your title as Nancheng’s richest man?”
Zhao Deming laughed heartily. “Money is fleeting. You saved my entire family! I consider our four lives priceless!”
His implication was clear—he wanted her to charge more.
After a moment’s thought, Tan Lingyin held up a single finger. “This much will do.”
She didn’t specify the amount, curious to see what Zhao Deming would offer.
“A billion? No problem!” Zhao Deming agreed readily.
Tan Lingyin was slightly stunned. She hadn’t expected him to assume a billion—that was too much.
Hastily, she corrected, “No, a million is enough.”
Zhao Deming immediately frowned and said, “A million won’t do! Master Tan has helped us so much. It wouldn’t be right if the reward couldn’t even buy a decent piece of jewelry in the end!”
