Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Li Ziyu was not a particularly foolish person; in fact, she was quite intelligent.
She used to think Chong Ying was a good person because Chong Ying genuinely acted very well around her, always smiling, smart, and sensible. Even after Chong Ying started acting and became a celebrity, exhibiting some diva behavior, and being overly “strict” with her assistants and staff, Li Ziyu felt she could understand it. After all, if assistants or staff were genuinely incompetent and slowed things down during work and filming, it would definitely affect their work efficiency and increase their difficulty.
However, for some reason, after Zhou Tiantian became her assistant, when Chong Ying treated Zhou Tiantian the same way, Li Ziyu belatedly realized that she really didn’t feel happy. Because that person was Zhou Tiantian—her high school classmate outwardly, but in reality, her first love.
Li Ziyu herself hadn’t realized that Zhou Tiantian was actually draped in the halo of a “white moonlight” in her heart.
So, when Li Ziyu heard Chong Ying speak like this, instead of scolding the assistant as she might have before, she walked slowly toward Zhou Tiantian with a slight, almost imperceptible smile. She spoke to Zhou Tiantian in a tone that sounded like a critique but was actually a defense: “Tiantian, as a personal assistant to a celebrity, even if you are only responsible for my daily life, you need to know that you must keep up with the times. Registering a Weibo account allows you to gather a lot of industry information. If I have any negative news, you are the closest person to me, and you must tell me immediately. Otherwise, if the manager and other assistants discover it and then tell me, the matter might have already escalated beyond control, and you will share some of the responsibility.”
Zhou Tiantian was visibly startled by her.
Zhou Tiantian had always thought her job as a personal assistant was just to take care of Li Ziyu’s daily life. But Li Ziyu’s words now made her think deeply. In the month she had been working, she realized she was indeed the person closest to Li Ziyu. While Li Ziyu was not busy, it was fine, but once she started filming, she hardly touched her phone. When she had free time, she would sit and rest or look at the script. If negative news really appeared online, Li Ziyu herself certainly wouldn’t be able to get the information immediately.
Therefore, her existence wasn’t just about taking care of Li Ziyu’s daily life; she also needed to help monitor online public opinion and deliver this crucial information to her ears immediately.
Zhou Tiantian was deeply remorseful at this moment. She thought she had done a great job as a personal assistant, but now it seemed she was very unqualified. At the same time, another sense of responsibility rose in her heart. Besides daily life, she needed to do her best in other areas as well, after all, she was getting 30,000 yuan a month! So, after the guilt, Zhou Tiantian’s heart slowly firmed up.
Having realized this, Zhou Tiantian looked up at Li Ziyu. Although her features and face were still soft, her eyes were filled with a determined light, and even her voice seemed much stronger than usual. “I know I was wrong before, and I will definitely correct myself. I will register a Weibo account right away, and when I have time, I’ll go online to check if there is any news related to you. If I find anything, I will tell you immediately.”
Li Ziyu hadn’t expected her casual remark to be taken so seriously.
In fact, Li Ziyu had no intention of blaming Zhou Tiantian. Her plan was to promote Zhou Tiantian to a higher position, not just keep her as a personal assistant. That’s why she brought this up—she hoped Zhou Tiantian’s scope of work would broaden, allowing her to accumulate experience faster and eventually have the capital to be promoted.
Looking at the soft and sensible Zhou Tiantian, Li Ziyu couldn’t help but reach out and pat her head. She nodded in satisfaction and praised, “Mhm, that’s my good girl.”
Then she added, “Then hurry up and download and register for Weibo. For your profile description, just write ‘Li’s Assistant,’ and then help me take a picture with Chong Ying and post it on Weibo, tagging both of us.”
Li Ziyu then turned to Chong Ying and said with a smile, “An account just registered by an assistant won’t get much attention, so her posting is the same as not posting. I’ll have her post it first, and then I’ll repost it later. That will be more effective.”
Li Ziyu had matured over the years. She was no longer as reckless as before and sometimes dedicated thought to managing her interpersonal relationships. She said this to Chong Ying to placate her and prevent her from feeling unhappy.
Chong Ying immediately smiled, walked over and linked arms with Li Ziyu, her tone noticeably more cheerful. “Of course, the effect will be great with your repost! Maybe even some marketing accounts will jump on the trend and repost it too.”
Li Ziyu’s Weibo followers were nearly double Chong Ying’s, and Chong Ying’s followers included many fake accounts added through less-than-honest methods. Thus, her posts generally didn’t get many comments or reposts. Li Ziyu was different. For some reason, her fan engagement was much higher than her own, and her posts typically received many more comments and reposts. To be honest, Chong Ying was a bit jealous, but she was happy that Li Ziyu was willing to include her and help promote her, hoping to gain some followers from Li Ziyu.
Li Ziyu subtly pulled her arm free from Chong Ying’s grasp, then walked over to Zhou Tiantian and said, “Do you know how to use Weibo? Do you want me to teach you?”
Zhou Tiantian was currently downloading the Weibo app and replied softly, “I can learn on my own slowly. These things aren’t very difficult.”
Li Ziyu saw that she had finished downloading and was starting to register, so she took the phone from her hand and said, “Who knows when you’ll learn it on your own? Watch how I operate it first, and you’ll learn much faster.”
Chong Ying also chimed in, “Exactly! You should take two pictures now while we have time. We’ll be busy filming later, and it will cause another delay.”
Zhou Tiantian stood obediently by Li Ziyu’s side, watching her operate the phone. At the same time, she politely nodded in response to Chong Ying. “I understand, Teacher Chong.”
In fact, Zhou Tiantian knew that Chong Ying was acting like a diva toward her, but the reason she hadn’t resisted Chong Ying wasn’t because she was afraid to resist like in her previous life. Instead, she was keenly aware that Chong Ying was Li Ziyu’s friend. Her patience was not for Chong Ying’s sake, but because she hoped not to damage the friendly relationship between Li Ziyu and Chong Ying and not to cause trouble for Li Ziyu.
Li Ziyu finished registering the Weibo account for her and gave it the name “Miss Li’s Sweet Sweet Sweet Sweet.”
Zhou Tiantian blushed slightly, looking at the name with embarrassment. She tentatively suggested to Li Ziyu, “I should change the name. This name is too…” It was a little too shameful, but Zhou Tiantian couldn’t even bring herself to say the word “shameful.”
Li Ziyu’s smile held a hint of mischief. She turned to look at Zhou Tiantian and teased, “What’s wrong with the name? I think it’s great! Aren’t I Miss Li? And aren’t you my assistant, Zhou Tiantian?”
Zhou Tiantian knew she couldn’t argue with her, so she decided not to try. Li Ziyu then handed the phone back to her, walked over to Chong Ying, and said to Zhou Tiantian, “Quickly take a picture of the two of us.”
Zhou Tiantian took the picture and showed it to Li Ziyu and Chong Ying. Li Ziyu didn’t say anything, but Chong Ying was a little dissatisfied, pouting and saying, “This picture makes my face look a bit big. I want to take another one.”
Zhou Tiantian had no choice but to take another picture of them. But she didn’t take many selfies or pictures in either of her lives, so she naturally didn’t know how to take a picture that fit current aesthetic standards. Fortunately, Chong Ying’s assistant, Yangyang, walked up to her and said, “When taking a photo, you should lower the camera slightly and shoot from below. That way, the legs will look very long, and the face won’t look big.”
Zhou Tiantian learned a lot from this, and sure enough, Chong Ying was satisfied with the picture this time.
The staff then came over to call Li Ziyu and Chong Ying to film their scenes. Before leaving, Li Ziyu said to Zhou Tiantian, “Write a random caption and post it on Weibo. Remember to tag me. I’ll repost it during the break later.”
Zhou Tiantian nodded, watching the two leave. But she ultimately didn’t write a random caption. Since she didn’t understand these things, she figured a random caption would be ineffective at best, and if she accidentally offended someone else, the gain wouldn’t be worth the loss. So, she walked over to Yangyang and asked, “Brother Yangyang, can you teach me how to write a Weibo caption? I’m not good at it, and I’m afraid Ziyu won’t like what I come up with.”
Yangyang knew she wasn’t just afraid Li Ziyu wouldn’t like it. After all, in the time Yangyang had been back at work, he had only seen Li Ziyu treat Zhou Tiantian very well—not at all like how she used to treat Little Liu. She had bought Zhou Tiantian a phone and taught her how to use Weibo. While Zhou Tiantian’s work was indeed very good, Yangyang could sense that Li Ziyu was different when she was around Zhou Tiantian.
Yangyang patiently explained to her, “Usually, for these kinds of posts, you don’t need to say anything overly sweet. Just casually praise how good they look, but it’s better to use more internet-friendly language.”
Under Yangyang’s guidance, Zhou Tiantian captioned the picture with “Miss Li and Miss Chong look so beautiful today” and posted it on Weibo.
During a break in filming, Li Ziyu picked up her phone and, sure enough, found Zhou Tiantian’s post among countless mentions. She first followed Zhou Tiantian, then reposted the Weibo with the caption: “My Tiantian is also very sweet today.”
Since entering the industry, Li Ziyu hadn’t posted on Weibo very often; sometimes, when busy, she wouldn’t post for ten days to half a month. Also, Li Ziyu’s previous roles were all gentle characters, so at first, everyone thought she was a relatively gentle person. It wasn’t until they followed her for a while that they realized Li Ziyu’s acting was genuinely good, because she, in person, and her characters were two extremes—she wasn’t gentle at all!
The fans who accepted her true personality also slowly accepted her dramatic online comments. Today, when they suddenly saw such a sweet and adorable Weibo post, fans immediately suspected that this post was not made by their idol!
“How could my idol’s mouth be so sweet? The person behind the account must be her assistant!”
“Today’s Li Ziyu is also fake. Where is our venomous-tongued Ziyu?”
“Did Ziyu take the wrong medicine today? She feels a little warm and sweet. She definitely took the wrong medicine!”
Zhou Tiantian secretly scrolled through the comments under Li Ziyu’s Weibo post and silently nodded in agreement: It turns out everyone thinks the same way as me. It seems that after all these years, Ziyu’s temper hasn’t changed much. She definitely hasn’t lost her temper recently because no one has provoked her. I need to be more careful in the future so she doesn’t bully me again. That would be too scary!
