Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 61
Chapter 61
Zhao Qing thought to herself that this was the perfect excuse. “Right, let’s have a drink. Happy birthday to me.”
She opened a bottle of red wine and, too impatient to let it breathe, poured a glass for each of them.
Dong Minsi breathed a sigh of relief. She thought it was for the best that the wine hadn’t decanted; otherwise, she wouldn’t have known how to contain her own anxiety.
Holding the glasses, Zhao Qing handed one to Dong Minsi and suddenly said, “I’ll go check the fridge to see if there’s anything good to eat.” She headed straight for the kitchen.
Seeing her leave, Dong Minsi quickly twisted open the capsule in her palm and poured the powder into the wine. In the kitchen, Zhao Qing was doing the exact same thing.
After stirring the powder into the wine, Zhao Qing walked out with her glass. “My place is too empty; there’s nothing in the fridge.”
Dong Minsi gave a gentle smile. “It’s fine. This is perfect.”
Zhao Qing returned to the bar and clinked glasses with Dong Minsi. Just as they were about to drink, Dong Minsi suddenly cried out, “Oh! My ring seems to have fallen on the floor. Help me look for it.”
Zhao Qing felt relieved. She set down her glass and bent over to look at the floor, internally planning how to switch their glasses without leaving a trace.
Meanwhile, Dong Minsi, with lightning-fast hands, swapped their glasses. “Found it? If not, forget it. It’s dark and the lights aren’t great; we can look for it tomorrow.”
Zhao Qing stood up. Usually posing as a cool stoic, her eyes were now flickering with uncertainty. “Today is a day worth commemorating. Why don’t we have a ‘nuptial cup’ (crossed-arm toast)?”
Dong Minsi raised an eyebrow. “Sure.”
Zhao Qing pushed the glass in her hand toward Dong Minsi. Seeing Minsi’s confused expression, she forced an explanation. “Since it’s a nuptial cup, we should exchange glasses.”
Dong Minsi’s expression stiffened. “Is that what a nuptial cup means?”
“Yes,” Zhao Qing said firmly. “In my version, that’s exactly what it means.”
At this, Dong Minsi suspected that Zhao Qing had caught her switching the glasses earlier. She figured Zhao Qing had guessed her plan and was defending her “right to be the attacker” by demanding the exchange—a silent warning to stop the little tricks and accept their roles.
She took a deep breath, her gaze softening. Forget it. I’m already head over heels for her. If she’s truly this obsessed with being the ‘top’ and wants me to bear her child, I’ll agree.
If I suffer a little now, I’ll have the right to demand more later, right? She thought. After all, she won’t be able to handle it once I’m pregnant. Maybe I can use the ten months of pregnancy to soften her up and negotiate an ‘up-front’ position.
“Fine, let’s exchange,” Dong Minsi said, as if sacrificing herself for a greater cause.
Zhao Qing also breathed a sigh of relief.
The two exchanged glasses, crossed their arms, and drank the “nuptial cups.” Whether out of synchronicity or spite, both drained their glasses to the last drop.
Zhao Qing muttered to herself that “wine bolsters a coward’s heart” and moved closer to Dong Minsi. Although Dong Minsi had just mentally prepared herself, being a “bottom” for the first time made her so nervous that she accidentally stepped back, sweeping a wine glass off the bar.
With a shatter, the glass broke.
Zhao Qing suddenly remembered a crucial step: cutting a finger.
She immediately knelt to clear the shards, but Dong Minsi knelt at the same time. In their flustered state, both managed to cut their fingers.
As they stared at each other’s bleeding fingers, a strange emotion diffused between them. Zhao Qing suddenly felt something was off. In her confusion, she forgot her disguise. “Why did you cut your finger too?”
Then, it clicked. “Do you know? Do you know about the capsule I asked my mother for?!”
Dong Minsi’s pupils dilated. “You asked your mother for a capsule? The one Zhou Tiantian used?”
“Wait, you didn’t know?” Zhao Qing was stunned, feeling like she had just played herself.
After a few moments of processing, Dong Minsi figured it out before she did. “Was this Li Ziyu’s idea?”
Zhao Qing was completely dazed. “How did you know?”
Dong Minsi gave a cold, bitter laugh. “Because she gave me one of those capsules too. She’s been meddling between us—what on earth has she been doing?!”
Zhao Qing was still confused. “Huh?”
Dong Minsi took Zhao Qing’s hand, looking at the cut finger. “You switched the wine and cut your finger because you wanted to get me pregnant—to ‘cook the rice’ so I could never leave you, right?”
Zhao Qing’s face turned scarlet, her eyes darting around. “No, I…”
Dong Minsi continued, “Li Ziyu gave you that idea, didn’t she?”
Pure-hearted Zhao Qing instinctively tried to protect her friend. “No, no! Don’t misunderstand her, Ziyu isn’t that kind of person…”
Before she could finish, Dong Minsi cut in. “Li Ziyu told me the same thing! She gave me a capsule and said that was how Zhou Tiantian got pregnant. She said if I could get you pregnant, even if I ‘took’ you every day, you wouldn’t leave me because we’d have a bond.”
Zhao Qing felt like her brain was short-circuiting at the information. “Take… me… every day?” There’s such a wonderful possibility?
Dong Minsi cleared her throat, quickly trying to pick up her “gentle” persona. “Actually, we can… take turns? I don’t want you to be tired all the time.” Though she had never imagined being on the receiving end, she was willing to compromise for Zhao Qing.
I don’t want to be the tired one all the time either! Zhao Qing desperately wanted to tear off her disguise right then, but she decided against it. It was a critical moment—what if she spoke up and scared Dong Minsi away?
Dong Minsi looked at Zhao Qing and thought back to what Li Ziyu had said. Her heart sank. Li Ziyu definitely lied to me. All that ‘tough on the outside, soft on the inside’ talk was just because she didn’t want Zhao Qing and me to have it easy!
After some careful thought, Dong Minsi said to Zhao Qing, “Today is your birthday. I’ll give myself to you as a gift. Would you like that?”
Zhao Qing gritted her teeth and forced herself to say, “Of course I would! There’s no better gift!”
The two went to separate bathrooms to shower and do one last round of mental preparation.
Dong Minsi told herself that all power would eventually return to her; as long as she was patient and trained her well, Zhao Qing would eventually accept her lead.
Zhao Qing was also brainwashing herself. From the day she started pursuing Dong Minsi, she told herself she had to be an excellent “top” to give Minsi the happiest life. The day was finally here; she couldn’t let her down!
An hour later, they were in Zhao Qing’s bedroom.
Dong Minsi lay on the bed, looking shyly at Zhao Qing while ten thousand metaphorical alpacas trampled over her heart. Ahhh! What do I do? I prepared for this, but I can’t suppress the urge to pin her down!!
Zhao Qing’s fingers wouldn’t stop trembling. It’s no use… my arms and legs feel like jelly. This night is going to be a disaster!
Nevertheless, Zhao Qing slowly sat down and leaned over to kiss Dong Minsi. Her kiss was innocent and tender, quite intoxicating. Then, following the chaotic tutorials she had read, she began to go further, step by step.
Ten minutes later, the arm Zhao Qing was using to support herself was shaking violently. Finally, she couldn’t hold on anymore and collapsed right on top of Dong Minsi with a thud.
Dong Minsi was nearly crushed!
Hearing Dong Minsi’s yelp of pain, Zhao Qing was too ashamed to lift her head. I must be the most useless ‘top’ in the world! What now? The persona is completely ruined! She felt like crying. Could she cry? Since the persona was dead anyway, why not?
The long-term psychological pressure finally broke her. In that moment, Zhao Qing couldn’t hold it back anymore. She let out a pitiful “Wah!” and burst into tears.
She lay limply on top of Dong Minsi, her head buried in the crook of Minsi’s neck. “What am I going to do?! Sob… I’m so sorry, I can’t make you happy! Waaaah… I’m a useless person. I can’t even receive a birthday gift properly. I’ve been working out for so long! Can I really not be a ‘top’?! You must despise me now! Waaaah!”
Dong Minsi was heartbroken. She immediately comforted her. “No, no, I don’t despise you! I know you’re tired, I know you worked hard. I can wait for the day your stamina improves! We don’t have to rush!”
Zhao Qing cried even harder at the thought of having to keep working out and being a “top” forever. It felt like her life was dark and hopeless.
“But I don’t want to be a ‘top’ at all! Sob… I just want to lie there! I’m sorry, I’m useless! Waaaah!” Zhao Qing cried out of guilt, self-pity, and sheer exhaustion.
Dong Minsi froze. Wait. What did she just hear?
She doesn’t want to be a ‘top’ at all? Zhao Qing just wants to lie there?! Could life really be this good? The “Iron T” Zhao Qing was actually a “soft bottom”?!
Dong Minsi flipped over, pinning Zhao Qing to the bed. Looking at her tear-streaked, pitiful face, her heart raced. “You said you just want to lie there… I didn’t hear you wrong, did I?”
Zhao Qing had already given up on her dignity. “Yeah! I’m just that pathetic! Sob!”
Dong Minsi couldn’t help but laugh. “I absolutely love how ‘pathetic’ you are!” She leaned down and silenced Zhao Qing with a kiss.
Her fierce and dominant kissing technique made Zhao Qing stop crying instantly. She could barely breathe! But the overwhelming “top” energy and aggression sparked a deep excitement in Zhao Qing’s heart.
What… what is happening?! My gentle little lady suddenly turned into a fierce predator?! I… I love it so much! I’m going to go crazy, I’m going to faint!! Happiness came way too suddenly!
Because they were both so excited, they spent the next three hours making up for lost time.
Three hours later, Zhao Qing was snuggled against Dong Minsi’s chest, acting clingy and sweet. “No more… I’m tired, I want to sleep!”
Dong Minsi kissed her forehead dotingly. “Be good. Go to sleep. We’ll talk about everything tomorrow.”
…
The next morning, they didn’t wake up until the sun was high in the sky. They stared at the ceiling for ten full minutes, digesting everything that had happened the night before.
Zhao Qing said, “Do you think Ziyu knew all along and was just tricking us for fun?”
Dong Minsi gave a cold smile, no longer pretending to be gentle. Her tone was now sharp and businesslike. “I think she knew very early on. She’s been playing us! Treating us like a show!”
Zhao Qing got angry too. “She’s been a ‘bad kid’ since we were little. I thought I was special to her, but she even played me like this! I’m never being her childhood bestie or friend again!”
Dong Minsi was charmed by her childlike tone and pecked her hard on the lips. “Sweetie, why don’t you grow your hair out? I don’t like it short.”
Zhao Qing blushed and said shyly, “I can wear dresses too. I love wearing pretty little dresses!”
Dong Minsi’s heart melted. “Good. My sweet girl, we’ll put on a little dress later and go to Li Ziyu’s house to settle the score!”
Zhao Qing blushed even deeper at the word “sweetie,” burying herself shyly in Dong Minsi’s arms. “She’s not at home. Tiantian is due to give birth soon, so she’s at the hospital with her.”
“Then we’ll corner her at the hospital,” Dong Minsi said firmly. “I can’t let this go!”
Zhao Qing nodded obediently.
…
In the hospital, Li Ziyu suddenly had a premonition. “Baby, I think my life is in danger today. You have to protect me!”
