Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Zhou Tiantian couldn’t understand Zhao Qing’s words—Dong Minsi and Ziyu? The two of them were going to be together?
Zhao Qing continued to whisper in her ear, saying, “Don’t be so careless. Many people develop feelings for each other through collaboration, so you must be careful not to let someone else steal her away.”
Zhou Tiantian looked at Zhao Qing blankly. She truly hadn’t considered the possibility, and she didn’t even know what her relationship with Li Ziyu was supposed to be.
Seeing that she was finally taking the issue seriously, Zhao Qing let out a sigh of relief. Zhou Tiantian was originally Ziyu’s ‘first love.’ Although that first love had been a rather tragic experience for Li Ziyu, if Zhou Tiantian was willing to accept her for the sake of the child, the likelihood of Li Ziyu straying—whether for their feelings or the child—would be much lower.
Zhao Qing could finally leave the set with peace of mind, no longer worrying that her childhood friend would try to steal her own wife.
Zhao Qing’s words indeed took root in Zhou Tiantian’s heart. She touched her belly, which was already starting to show, and felt that she really should think this over. However, she didn’t bring it up with Li Ziyu yet because she first needed to figure out what her own thoughts were.
…
Lately, Li Ziyu’s workload had been intense. In addition to filming, she had a makeup livestream.
When Li Ziyu signed the contract for the cosmetics she endorsed, they included a livestream agreement requiring her to do a makeup tutorial on Weibo to promote their products. This livestream had been teased for several days through various announcements.
Not only were Li Ziyu’s fans curious, but many passersby were also intrigued: was there anything different about how a female celebrity did her makeup compared to a normal person? Were celebrities like those internet influencers who looked like two different people before and after makeup?
While the promotion was ongoing, many “keyboard warriors” were already making skeptical comments:
“Is it really starting from a bare face? I don’t believe a celebrity would show their true bare face to an audience.”
“Don’t we all know how livestreaming apps work? The beauty filters are insane!”
“It’s just a gimmick. Celebrities have makeup artists. Besides, their on-camera makeup is totally different from our daily lives. What’s there to watch?”
Despite the opposition, many people were waiting under Li Ziyu’s Weibo on the day of the stream, urging her to start early.
In the hotel, Li Ziyu was organizing the beauty products with the brand staff. The video needed to show her makeup process while showcasing the brand’s products. Fortunately, though the brand was new, the quality was excellent.
Zhou Tiantian stood by her side, reading out the negative comments from the internet. Hearing them, Li Ziyu turned to look at herself in the mirror, her lips curling into a confident smile. “These people actually dare to doubt my looks and skin condition? Tonight, I won’t use any beauty filters. I’ll let them see what ‘crystal clear, fair skin’ actually looks like.”
…
Chen Hong was a fresh graduate. After interning for a few months, she had started learning how to use makeup. But because she had never touched it before, her application was clumsy and the results looked rough. She had watched many tutorials, but it always felt “off” when she did it.
When she saw that Li Ziyu—who had been on the trending searches recently—was doing a livestream, her thoughts aligned with the skeptics. Celebrities had professional artists; even if they didn’t, they would naturally be better at it than a commoner. She didn’t think it would be very practical.
However, she had nothing to do that night, so she figured she might as well watch—maybe she’d even witness a “fail” moment for the celebrity.
When the livestream began, Chen Hong joined the room. She saw Li Ziyu give a standard greeting before raising an eyebrow and saying with total confidence: “My assistant tells me you guys aren’t too optimistic about tonight. You think I’ll use filters to hide flaws. Today, I’ll show you that even without filters, I can blow you away.”
Then, Chen Hong saw Li Ziyu reach out and tap the screen. In an instant, the overly smoothed “beauty-filtered” skin vanished, returning to its natural state. Even without the filter, Chen Hong had to admit Li Ziyu’s skin was incredibly good.
Li Ziyu leaned in close to the camera and hummed. “That was the filter. Now, I’ve turned off all beauty effects and filters, using only the phone’s original camera. Take a close look—is my bare face really ‘unpresentable’?”
Li Ziyu’s features were naturally exquisite. Even without makeup, she didn’t look washed out. Her skin was fair, translucent, and free of visible pores or acne. The bullet comments exploded:
“The people hating on Ziyu’s looks just got slapped in the face!”
“A true beauty isn’t made of makeup and filters.”
“She’s so pretty, why even bother with makeup? The bare face is already killing me!”
Chen Hong felt her face flush. Although she hadn’t commented, she felt embarrassed for having doubted her.
Li Ziyu then began the tutorial. Her approach was different from typical influencers. “I suggest you use contouring/shadows sparingly,” she said while applying eyeshadow. “I know everyone uses it now to make the nose look sharper or the face more 3D. But remember: that only works on camera. We celebrities use it for filming because it looks better in a lens.”
“But you must realize that life doesn’t exist inside a lens. From the front, contouring makes your nose look tall, but the moment you turn your head, people will see a smudge of black on your cheek and nose. It ruins the clarity of your skin and makes the makeup look ‘dirty.’”
“Of course, some makeup pros can handle it perfectly. Those ladies don’t need to watch my video.”
“In daily life, the main point of makeup is to improve your ‘qi’ (complexion/aura). As long as your features are clear, your lips are rosy, and your skin looks bright, the makeup is a success.”
Chen Hong finally understood why her makeup always looked weird—she had focused too much on shadows, making her face look dirty. After the stream, she washed her face and followed Li Ziyu’s steps. To her surprise, she looked vibrant and refreshed.
The next day at the office, her colleagues noticed the change immediately. “Your makeup looks so much better today!”
Chen Hong smiled. “I watched Li Ziyu’s livestream last night and followed her tips.”
“I watched it too!” another colleague chimed in. “I thought she was just looking for attention, but her tips are so practical. I’m going to buy the products she recommended after work.”
…
The livestream was a massive success for both the brand and Li Ziyu. Her follower count jumped by hundreds of thousands. Many young women began flocking to her Weibo, begging for more tutorials.
Old fans told the newcomers: “Asking Ziyu for things on her own Weibo is useless. Go to her assistant’s Weibo. The assistant is adorable and soft-hearted; she’ll actually get Ziyu to do it.”
So, the fans swarmed Zhou Tiantian’s Weibo. When Tiantian mentioned it to Li Ziyu, Ziyu was busy peeling an orange for her. “You’ll post whatever the fans ask for? You’re pregnant; can’t you focus on your own health?”
Tiantian wasn’t just doing it for the fans; she had thought it through. She grabbed Ziyu’s wrist and said softly, “But this is a great chance to build a ‘beauty expert’ persona for you. It builds a female fanbase and increases your ‘traffic’ (popularity).”
Li Ziyu stared at her with deep, dark eyes. She turned her hand over to interlock their fingers, her tone turning suggestive. “So you’re thinking about me that much? Since you’re being so dedicated, I’ll film another one.”
Zhou Tiantian looked down, shyly trying to pull her hand away, but Li Ziyu held on tight. Ziyu leaned in close to Tiantian’s ear, her warm breath turning Tiantian’s earlobe bright red. “I can film the video, but I have one condition.”
“What condition?” Tiantian’s eyes darted away.
Li Ziyu placed her other hand on Tiantian’s belly. “I want to kiss our little baby.”
Tiantian blinked, confused. “I won’t stop you once the baby is born.”
Li Ziyu shook her head. “I don’t mean later. I mean now.”
Before Tiantian could process how that was possible, Ziyu’s eyes flashed with mischief. “I’ll show you how to kiss our baby now.”
She lifted Tiantian’s cashmere sweater and knelt on one knee. “Watch closely. I’m starting the demonstration.”
Then, she leaned down and pressed a kiss against Tiantian’s warm belly.
Zhou Tiantian stared at the top of Ziyu’s head. Feeling the hot, soft lips against her skin, her heart began to race. Her hands subconsciously gripped the bedsheets, her breathing grew heavy, and even the baby inside seemed to give a little kick.
Li Ziyu felt the movement and let out a low laugh. The sound vibrated from her chest into Tiantian’s ears, tugging at her heartstrings. Ziyu stood back up, bracing her hands on either side of Tiantian. They were so close they could hear each other breathe.
“If you let me kiss our baby every day,” Li Ziyu whispered, “I’ll do the video. In fact, I’ll do whatever you want me to do from now on.”
Tiantian’s heart was in chaos. She didn’t feel repulsed by the act; instead, a surge of sweetness was bubbling up. She bit her lip and gave a small, soft nod.
Ziyu laughed, triumphant.
Embarrassed, Tiantian blurted out, “You already kissed today, so… no more chances.” She immediately felt silly for saying it.
To move past the awkwardness, she urged Ziyu to film. That night, a second video was posted. It was a “cool/cold” look.
“The previous look was daily. Today is something special,” Ziyu said in the video. The result was sharp and “high-end.” “This look is for women who want a high-cold (aloof) vibe—like a female boss in the workplace. It gives you an edge so you aren’t easily led by others.”
The fans went wild:
“My ‘husband’ is so handsome it’s breaking the sky!”
“The Alpha energy is leaking out of the screen! I’m an Omega, please mark me!”
“I’ve been turned gay by Ziyu. I can’t go back! Ziyu, you have to take responsibility!”
“Am I the only one who noticed the assistant is the real boss? We cried for days and Ziyu ignored us, but the assistant asks once and we get a video!”
“The assistant is so soft and cute. I guess Ziyu really has a soft spot for her!”
“You guys… I’m starting to think the assistant and Ziyu are a perfect match!”
Watching the comments on her phone, Zhou Tiantian couldn’t help but blush.
