Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Li Ziyu’s career wasn’t very long, so her personal resources weren’t extensive. She only had a few TV dramas and rarely appeared on variety shows.
Normally, fans could only re-watch her dramas, or edit her video clips for their own entertainment, with not much else to keep them occupied.
But all of that was about to change because Li Ziyu now had an adorable little assistant who posted about her daily life.
And the first video posted by this little cutie was so full of content! They had never known that the usually serious and unapproachable Li Ziyu had such a cute side in private, even talking to a cat with such seriousness!
As a result, Zhou Tiantian’s Weibo comments section instantly became a gathering place for fans.
“Ziyu is so adorable! Talking to a cat so seriously, is she planning to open a pet training school if her acting career doesn’t work out?”
“I can tell Ziyu has no affinity with animals. Seeing the kitten being so sweet and docile with its owner, but so aloof with Ziyu, Ziyu is too pitiful!”
“I’m wondering if the cat would like Ziyu more if she changed her name to ‘Little Fish’ (Zai Yu)!”
“Her looks aren’t even outshone by a cat! She can even compete with a cat. Our Ziyu’s beauty is truly unbeatable!”
“The commenter above is poisonous. Why is Ziyu being compared with a cat in terms of looks? But how come I feel I’m not as pretty as that cat!”
“This comment section is poisonous. Why compare Ziyu’s looks with a cat!”
Many people also focused their attention on Li Ziyu’s last few sentences.
“Oh my god! Why do I think Ziyu sounds so flirtatious when talking to her assistant!”
“She’s so doting, okay! I thought Ziyu wouldn’t agree and would scold the assistant!”
“Ziyu didn’t give a cold shoulder, my goodness! Is it because the assistant’s voice is too sweet!”
“Agree that the assistant’s voice is sweet +1”
After rewatching the video countless times, fans immediately showcased their talents, creating many screenshots and turning them into meme packages, which they then posted in the comments section of the assistant’s Weibo, asking the assistant to show them to Li Ziyu.
Once the video was posted, Zhou Tiantian immediately gained tens of thousands of followers, and the Weibo interaction rate was very high. She saved all the memes the fans sent her, finding Li Ziyu’s fans truly adorable.
That night, after Li Ziyu finished filming, Zhou Tiantian went to her room as agreed. Li Ziyu had just finished showering and was about to go to sleep. Seeing Zhou Tiantian, she asked her, “Why did you come? Is something wrong?”
Zhou Tiantian replied, “Didn’t you say you had a headache? I came to give you a massage.”
Li Ziyu laughed, “I was just joking with you. You don’t have to take it so seriously, and you must be very tired after working all day.”
Zhou Tiantian looked at her worriedly and asked, “Does your head really hurt that much?”
Li Ziyu rubbed her forehead, “Maybe I’ve been too tired these past two days, and the weather is hot, so I might be catching a cold.”
Zhou Tiantian walked up to her and raised her hand to touch her forehead. The slight heat scorched her palm. Zhou Tiantian’s fingertips trembled, and she said to Li Ziyu, “You seem to have a slight fever.”
Li Ziyu herself didn’t seem too concerned, “It’s just a low fever. I’ll sleep it off and be fine by tomorrow morning.”
But Zhou Tiantian insisted, “Since I am your life assistant, I should take good care of your daily life, including when you are sick.”
Having said that, she didn’t wait for Li Ziyu to respond. She opened the door and walked out of Li Ziyu’s room.
Li Ziyu had wanted to tell her not to bother, as she felt Zhou Tiantian’s workload was already very heavy. Because Zhou Tiantian was much more diligent than all her previous assistants, Li Ziyu felt very protective of Zhou Tiantian.
But Zhou Tiantian was fast and disappeared in a flash. Li Ziyu returned to the room, sat on the sofa, and sighed, but her heart felt warm.
Since being admitted to the film academy, she had gradually started taking on jobs. Although the management company always assigned assistants to her, Li Ziyu often felt lonely and isolated after exhausting work, sometimes even suffering from insomnia late at night. She didn’t know what she was working so hard and diligently for.
She knew she was being sentimental. Working alone away from home, without family or friends to confide in, made her feel very miserable.
This was one of the reasons why she developed a fondness for Chong Ying. Because Chong Ying had been close to her since they started school, and the two would occasionally talk about work, Li Ziyu slowly grew to rely on her a little. She would tell Chong Ying when she had complaints or felt unwell at work.
But now, Zhou Tiantian had replaced Chong Ying, giving her even more meticulous care, and her heart slowly tilted toward Zhou Tiantian.
While she was thinking, Zhou Tiantian returned with a first aid kit and said to Li Ziyu, “It’s a good thing I prepared a first aid kit before coming. Take a fever reducer first, and then I’ll massage your head. You should get some good sleep. If you’re not better by tomorrow morning, how about we take a leave of absence and go see a doctor?”
Li Ziyu herself felt that her illness was nothing serious. She had occasionally experienced low fevers and colds like this when filming before, and often just gritted her teeth and powered through.
Being cared for by Zhou Tiantian like this, her heart softened, and she nodded, “Okay.”
After taking the medicine Zhou Tiantian handed her, Li Ziyu was led into the bedroom by Zhou Tiantian and lay down on the bed.
Zhou Tiantian sat beside her, her fingers gently pressing and rubbing her temples. The precise pressure slowly relaxed her previously tense mind, and even her breathing calmed down.
She gradually drifted off to sleep, not even realizing how exhausted she was.
Zhou Tiantian was relieved to see her slowly falling asleep. She stood up, ready to leave, but her gaze was caught by Li Ziyu’s sleeping face.
Li Ziyu had been beautiful since childhood. In junior high, she was the prettiest girl in their grade. If it weren’t for her short temper, she might have been crowned the campus beauty.
The adult Li Ziyu was even more stunning. Her baby fat had receded, her eyebrows were well-defined, her skin was flawless, and her lips were rosy. Some say people with thin lips like Li Ziyu are naturally heartless, but Zhou Tiantian felt that Li Ziyu was one of the most emotional and loyal people there could be.
In the past, Zhou Tiantian also thought the entertainment industry was an industry of exorbitant profits, but since following Li Ziyu, she felt there was a reason why celebrities earned so much money—because it was too exhausting. It was so exhausting that even she felt sorry for Li Ziyu.
Zhou Tiantian gazed at her, becoming lost in admiration. She reached out and gently touched Li Ziyu’s face. The soft, warm contact suddenly startled her awake. She immediately withdrew her hand, stood up from the bed, and took a few steps back. Seeing that Li Ziyu hadn’t woken up, she breathed a sigh of relief, quietly left Li Ziyu’s room, and returned to her own.
The next morning, Zhou Tiantian brought breakfast to Li Ziyu’s room and asked her if she felt better when she woke up.
Li Ziyu walked up to her and gave a soft laugh, raising her hand to pinch her soft cheek, “I’m much better. Our Tiantian is really amazing.”
Zhou Tiantian’s face turned red, whether from the pinch or from shyness: “I’m not amazing at all. Anyone would get better after taking medicine when they’re sick.”
Li Ziyu said, “But without you, I wouldn’t have taken the medicine. So this credit still goes to you.”
Zhou Tiantian felt encouraged by these words and worked even more enthusiastically. At noon, she even traveled a long distance to buy lunch for Li Ziyu because Li Ziyu had previously mentioned that the food from that particular restaurant was delicious.
Chong Ying, who was also eating takeout lunch with Li Ziyu, noticed that although both their meals were takeout, they were completely different. Li Ziyu’s meal looked and smelled much more appetizing than Chong Ying’s.
So, Chong Ying put down her lunch box after only a couple of bites, looked at Li Ziyu, and said, “I won’t comment on Tiantian’s other work, but she truly puts her heart and soul into preparing your lunch and dinner every day.”
Li Ziyu smiled, “She does very well in her other work, too.”
Chong Ying smiled faintly, resting her chin on her hand, and sighed, “Seeing your food is better than mine, I seem to have lost my appetite for my own.”
She then glanced at Zhou Tiantian. Zhou Tiantian immediately put down her chopsticks, picked up her food container, and said to Chong Ying, “Teacher Chong, why don’t you eat mine? I haven’t touched it much.”
Li Ziyu frowned. Seeing that Chong Ying was about to accept, she immediately interrupted Zhou Tiantian, “Even if you haven’t touched it much, you’ve still eaten from it! How can you give it to someone else?” She turned back to Chong Ying and said, “How about I have Tiantian tell you the location of this restaurant, and you can ask your assistant to buy you a portion?”
But it would take too long to buy another one now. Chong Ying definitely wouldn’t be able to eat today, so she smiled faintly, “No need. I just thought yours looked delicious.”
Li Ziyu nodded as if in deep agreement, “Right, it only looks delicious, but the taste isn’t particularly great.”
Chong Ying then picked up her own lunch box and took a couple more bites, but even though Li Ziyu said the taste wasn’t particularly great, Chong Ying saw that Li Ziyu’s meal was indeed much more fragrant than her own. She didn’t eat much before feeling full, then turned and walked away, giving Zhou Tiantian a look before leaving.
After Li Ziyu finished eating, Zhou Tiantian went to clean up the meal containers. Li Ziyu frowned at Zhou Tiantian and said, “Are you lacking common sense? Why would you give your perfectly good food to her? Did you want to eat the boxed lunch from the crew?”
Zhou Tiantian felt a pang of grievance after being scolded by Li Ziyu, “I was just thinking she’s your good friend, so I should let her have it. What if I caused trouble for you otherwise?”
Li Ziyu glared at her, “So what if she’s a good friend? A good friend hired an assistant too! If her assistant didn’t do her job well, why should my assistant give her food? While the crew’s food isn’t bad, it’s ultimately not as good as what you buy outside. You’re already tired enough as it is. Don’t you know to eat well? If you collapse from exhaustion, who will take care of me?”
How could Zhou Tiantian not hear the protection and care in her words? The grievance in her heart slowly faded, and a faint smile played on her lips, “I understand.”
Li Ziyu sighed, raised her hand, and poked her forehead, “So, don’t be so foolish in the future, understand?”
Zhou Tiantian nodded, feeling warmth in her heart.
