Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 28
Once the horror movie ended, it was about time to leave. The group tidied up the room and headed out. Since the mall wasn’t far from Shen Yiyi’s house, they decided to walk, chatting and laughing along the way.
The only exception was Qi Yuan and You Cheche, the communication between those two was sparse at best.
As soon as they stepped into the hot pot restaurant, they saw Tan Qing sitting right in the center, surrounded by a few Omega classmates. When he saw the six of them arrive, he smiled and waved them over.
One of the Omega girls spoke up, “Hey, did you guys see that post yesterday? There was a small thread saying You Cheche was kidnapped by Lin Ruonuo yesterday, is that for real? Cheche, are you okay?”
You Cheche gave her a reassuring smile, “I’m fine, the other five rescued me, so it wasn’t a big deal.”
“Oh… that’s good then…” The girl nodded.
At the mention of Lin Ruonuo’s name, Tan Qing looked as if someone had grabbed him by the throat, making it hard to breathe. His face turned a sickly shade of green.
Shen Yiyi noticed and asked with concern, “Tan Qing, are you alright?!”
Only then did the others remember the toxic history between Tan Qing and Lin Ruonuo. For a moment, the atmosphere became heavy and stifling.
Tan Qing forced a smile, “Cough! I’m fine, guys, let’s keep going!”
By around 6:30 PM, the whole class had arrived, and Lin Qian had joined them too.
Qi Yuan asked playfully from the side, “Qian, when is the school anniversary celebration?”
Lin Qian chuckled, “You’re already thinking about the anniversary? Finals are right around the corner!”
Qi Yuan acted spoiled, shaking his head, “Aww, come on, just tell us, “
“I really can’t do anything with you. This year’s anniversary is set for the end of November. Since we have to start reviewing in December, they moved it up.”
“Huh? That’s still a month away…” Qi Yuan said, sounding dejected.
Lin Qian tapped the table, “Is a month really that slow? It’ll pass in the blink of an eye!”
Qi Yuan thought about it and conceded, sitting down obediently to eat.
After the dinner finished, Qi Yuan and You Cheche headed back together since they lived next door to each other.
Under the streetlights, since the weather was neither too cold nor too hot, both were wearing white shirts. The shadows of the trees around them were hazy, making them look like the leads of a youth campus romance drama from a distance.
“About that… today’s confession…”
You Cheche’s body stiffened, “Ah! It’s okay! I didn’t take it to heart! We’re still best friends!”
Qi Yuan sighed, “No… I like you, I really, truly like you. I hope you can think it over seriously. I’ll confess to you one more time when we graduate. Until then, I want to pursue you, but you don’t need to feel burdened or give me an answer. You can still just treat me as a best friend. It won’t be too late to reject me when graduation comes.”
You Cheche was stunned once again by the sudden confession. After hearing him out, he nodded in agreement and then walked silently ahead, keeping his head down without saying a word.
Qi Yuan looked up at the boy in front of him. His heart was full of a love he couldn’t fully express yet, so his restrained feelings turned into honey, melting into water, a steady stream flowing toward the future.
He chuckled softly, his gaze tender. He quietly released a tiny bit of pheromones, daringly letting them settle on You Cheche. Since You Cheche couldn’t smell them, he inadvertently permitted this possessive behavior.
Perhaps the future… would be just like this.
The poor Beta would eventually be lured into the Alpha’s embrace, step by step, until forever.
The night was long, the light silhouetting their two figures. From behind, they seemed to be walking far apart, yet their shadows clung together, inseparable.
“Qi Yuan… what are you planning to perform for the anniversary?…” You Cheche broke the silence, taking the initiative to ask.
“Singing, obviously. Don’t I know how to play the guitar? Your big brother here is going to show you guys a love song performance!” At the mention of the show, Qi Yuan was instantly excited. Forgetting that he had just confessed, he strode forward and threw an arm around You Cheche, laughing enthusiastically.
“Oh, right! Aren’t you a month younger than me? From now on, call me ‘big brother’! No more using my full name!” The boy was pushing his luck, using childish tactics to tease the person beside him.
You Cheche rolled his eyes, “And what’s in it for me?”
“How about I bring you breakfast every day?” Qi Yuan asked with a smile.
“Deal, big brother! You’re the only brother I’ll ever need in this life!” You Cheche surrendered instantly. It felt a bit like the oath of brotherhood in the Peach Garden… no, more like two idiots from Middle School No. 2 becoming blood brothers.
