Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 19
Learning truly is a pain in the ass.
The next day, the sky was clear.
“Hey! You Cheche, come here and help me move this desk!”
“Oh, okay!” Cheche called back, walking over to help the girl move the desk to the back of the classroom.
Qi Yuan had just finished arranging the chairs. He leaned against the back doorframe, chatting idly with Song Chaolian.
“Father Song, your mom is going to be praised again this time.”
“Well, there’s no helping it. Having grades that are too good is its own kind of trouble,” Song Chaolian said without a hint of modesty, putting down the rag he used to wipe the tables.
At that moment, Tang Yuwei and Shen Yiyi walked into the room carrying a few more desks. All the Omegas in the class had gone to the study hall, so Li Yuyu wasn’t there.
“Going to the internet cafe later? The one outside the school?” Qi Yuan asked with a smile.
“Are you even of age?” Song Chaolian raised his eyebrows.
“Nope, but the owner knows me, it’s fine!” Qi Yuan joked.
You Cheche laughed. “Sure thing, our resident school bully really has the best connections.”
Tang Yuwei, who was busy messaging Li Yuyu on her phone, chimed in after hearing them. “Xiao Yu and I are down.”
“Alright! Yiyi, what about you?” Qi Yuan asked, tapping a few things on his phone.
“If you guys are all going, how can I not? Count me in, I’m going too,” Shen Yiyi replied casually, rubbing her nose.
Song Chaolian frowned. “What’s wrong with you?”
Shen Yiyi glanced at him and said, “Rut period.”
“Did you take suppressants?” the former asked, concerned.
“Are you asking nonsense? How would I be at school if I didn’t?” Shen Yiyi said irritably.
Alphas in their rut period are exceptionally short tempered and much ruder than usual.
You Cheche and Qi Yuan exchanged a look: Are Alphas in rut always this terrifying?
Qi Yuan: Yes.
You Cheche: You too?
Qi Yuan: ^_^ You bet, dear.
After their silent exchange ended, You Cheche felt a quiet shiver run down his spine.
By the time he snapped out of it, Song Chaolian had already pulled Shen Yiyi away, leaving the other three staring at each other.
When they returned, the parents had already arrived. You Cheche went to meet them, saw Pei Yun, called out “Mom,” and immediately stuck to her side.
Qi Yuan walked in behind him. Without thinking, his first instinct was also to shout, “Mom!”
Realizing his mistake, he awkwardly corrected himself. “I mean, Auntie.”
Pei Yun nodded with a beaming smile and asked him if he wanted to come over to their house after school.
After Qi Yuan politely declined, he walked over to his own mother.
As Mrs. Jian looked at the report card her son might as well have written with his feet, she let out a sharp huff of anger. “Qi Yuan? Do you even have a brain? A 12 in Math? I couldn’t even dream of a score that low!”
“Mom, don’t be mad. You only scored a 50 in Math back in the day,” Qi Yuan muttered, rubbing his nose before adding provocatively.
He left Mrs. Jian so frustrated she had to pinch her pressure points to keep from fainting.
Lin Qian walked into the classroom and clapped her canshands, signaling for the students to head to the study hall.
The five of them walked briskly toward the hall, then used the excuse of a bathroom break to swap Li Yuyu out. From there, they climbed over the wall at the back of the school, right in the security camera’s blind spot.
“Old Chen! Six seats in a row!” Qi Yuan shouted with a wave of his hand as they entered the shop. He then ordered a luxury bucket of instant noodles with extra sausage.
You Cheche sat down next to Qi Yuan and looked around at their seating arrangement:
Tang Yuwei / Li Yuyu / You Cheche / Qi Yuan / Song Chaolian / Shen Yiyi.
Shen Yiyi sat against the wall, where it looked quite cool. But it was autumn, who cared about staying cool?
Song Chaolian looked at Shen Yiyi and asked if he wanted to switch seats.
Shen Yiyi, with half his head buried in his coat, shook his head. Since he was in his rut, a cool spot made him feel a bit more comfortable.
