Strawberry Flavored A Does Not Want To Be In A Relationship - Chapter 3
The moment Fang Zishui spoke, the surrounding classmates gasped in shock, their confusion almost becoming tangible.
Did they hear that right? Fang Zishui, the undisputed class beauty in the first year, a top three student in the entire grade, a future Alpha who excels at all sports, and a wealthy young lady from a powerful family group, was voluntarily offering to take the trashy delinquent to the hospital?
The difference in status, standing, and temperament between these two was like heaven and earth. Furthermore, Ruan Mei had always made things difficult for Fang Zishui in the past, creating an existing feud. Why was Fang Zishui being so kind now, even offering a ride to the hospital?
Students wrestled with various thoughts, no one daring to speak, silently watching Ruan Mei shuffle outward.
Ruan Mei began to cry even more sincerely, dragging one leg while moving forward forcefully, desperate to leave the area quickly so she could bolt once outside!
“Ah, no need, really. Student Fang, you must be busy too. No need at all, I can go to the hospital by myself… Besides, besides, you should stay here and help our team with the match!”
Ruan Mei tried to find excuses, not even daring to look at Fang Zishui.
“I’ll take you.”
Fang Zishui coldly spat out three words, strode forward with her long legs, positioning herself beside Ruan Mei and matching her slow pace as they walked forward.
Ruan Mei quickly turned to look at her teammates:
“Hurry up and stop her! The match isn’t over!”
The classmates shook their heads like rattles. It was better for two people of such unique status to leave; none of them dared to provoke either, and definitely didn’t want to get involved.
Even the physical education teacher smiled and praised, “Student Fang has great team spirit. You two don’t need to come back for the rest of this class. Go to the school infirmary for a thorough check-up!”
Ruan Mei was now on the verge of tears. What did it mean to “lift a rock only to drop it on one’s own foot”? She truly had lost her mind!
She could only walk forward absentmindedly, limping, occasionally stealing a glance at Fang Zishui beside her.
Fang Zishui, however, walked at a leisurely pace, silent, possessing an elegant and aloof aura that seemed to drop the surrounding air temperature by several degrees.
They soon exited the gymnasium doors, and Ruan Mei looked left and right, her brain spinning faster than ever before.
She quickly came up with a plan:
“Um, Student Fang, I… I don’t feel any pain anymore. We don’t need to go to the infirmary, resting in the classroom will be fine. Thank you, I’ll head back now!”
As she spoke, Ruan Mei quickly moved towards the classroom direction, but because she had to perform the limp, her speed was slow.
Fang Zishui easily grabbed her arm and sneered, “You must go. What if it’s a sprain?”
Ruan Mei stopped. Through her school uniform sleeve, she could feel the warmth of Fang Zishui’s hand.
Seeing her walk obediently forward, Fang Zishui released her hand and continued to follow behind Ruan Mei.
Ruan Mei felt like a pig being herded to the slaughterhouse, moving slower and slower with no will to live.
Fang Zishui urged her from behind: “Hurry up.”
Ruan Mei’s limp became increasingly realistic. Just then, they passed the school store, and she quickly said, “I’m thirsty, I’m going to buy some water!”
She feigned a stumble and agilely rushed into the store. This time, Fang Zishui couldn’t grab her and could only follow her in.
Ruan Mei bought a bottle of water in the store, then meticulously browsed the snack area, picking up every snack to closely examine the ingredients list.
She was hoping to stall for the rest of the time until the next class bell rang, forcing Fang Zishui to return to class.
But Fang Zishui’s voice, like a death knell, sounded directly above her: “Let’s go, after the infirmary, you can come back for snacks.”
Ruan Mei didn’t want to go but didn’t dare face Fang Zishui’s warning gaze, nor could she admit she was faking it. She slowly turned and limped out.
She walked with her head down in dejection, while Fang Zishui occasionally patted her back as a prompt to walk faster.
The next class seemed like it would never arrive. Ruan Mei desperately tried to drag out the time, but the infirmary was right in front of them, and she couldn’t think of any other trick.
When they were only ten meters from the infirmary, she turned to glance at Fang Zishui.
Fang Zishui’s expression was half-smiling, her eyes carrying a sinister glint. She clearly didn’t believe Ruan Mei’s excuses and insisted on taking her to the infirmary, meaning she had another motive.
Ruan Mei’s heart skipped a beat. She reacted quickly: although the original story didn’t state it clearly, the original owner would always encounter misfortune after bullying Fang Zishui.
For example, the nail she put on Fang Zishui’s chair mysteriously ended up on her own, puncturing her skirt and causing the whole school to point and whisper; or another time, she forced Fang Zishui to sweep the floor extra times during duty, only to be anonymously reported to the disciplinary teacher a few days later and scolded severely…
In short, the original owner thought she was bullying Fang Zishui, but in reality, Fang Zishui had been secretly retaliating against the original owner. Seen this way, Fang Zishui’s character was simply deep, scheming, and utterly unforgiving!
So, by actively taking her to the infirmary today, was she suspicious and trying to test her true identity?
Ruan Mei didn’t think Fang Zishui had figured out she was an Alpha. She was afraid Fang Zishui had realized that she had a different soul!
She wondered if the medical standard in this strange ABO world had advanced enough to detect souls. She absolutely could not take the risk!
When she was only five meters from the hospital, Ruan Mei suddenly pointed into the distance: “Look quickly, the head teacher is coming!”
Taking advantage of Fang Zishui’s momentary distraction, Ruan Mei spread her legs and sprinted away!
Let her pretend to be a cripple; it was better than being discovered for having a swapped core or for being an Alpha!
When Ruan Mei ran with all her might, her speed was like a shadow. Fang Zishui, who hadn’t differentiated yet, couldn’t possibly catch up even with her athletic ability. She ran two steps forward and then gave up.
She stared at Ruan Mei’s receding back, pursed her lips, and her gaze was deeply contemplative.
Ruan Mei ran about ten meters before realizing she still needed to act. She immediately slowed her pace, running slowly at the speed of a frail girl. She didn’t dare go back to the classroom now, as Fang Zishui would catch her and interrogate her. In the end, she could only go to the restroom and stay there until the next class started.
She felt her life was too hard, burdened with so many secrets, always needing to be careful. She was just an ordinary high school student coming to school, and what should have been a happy physical education class had turned into this! It was all Fang Zishui’s fault for suddenly interfering!
Fortunately, when classes began, Ruan Mei could focus her mind on the ocean of knowledge. She actually enjoyed class time; she could concentrate fully and only needed to study. The knowledge system here was similar to her previous world; Ruan Mei was essentially reviewing old material, making learning easy and stress-free.
After class, Ruan Mei noticed Fang Zishui getting up and leaving out of the corner of her eye, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief, slumping onto her desk like a lazy fish.
A paper ball suddenly hit the top of her head. She turned to look: it was an acquaintance of the original owner, a delinquent named Li Namei.
“Come out!”
Li Namei, bouncing with energy, called Ruan Mei out, her round face furrowed in annoyance: “We agreed to go to the internet cafe yesterday, why weren’t you waiting for me at the school gate? You made me search for you for ages!”
Ruan Mei: “Ah, I forgot.”
Li Namei patted her shoulder: “We’ll make up for it today! Wait for me at the usual spot after school!”
Ruan Mei, however, shook her head: “No, not today… To be precise, not anymore.”
Li Namei’s face showed shock: “What’s wrong with you? What’s not okay? You’re my boss! A boss can’t say no! True man! If you can’t, you must create the conditions to make it happen!”
Ruan Mei was left amused and exasperated: “I need to find a part-time job and also study. I’ll be busy after school from now on, so I won’t have time to hang out with you. You should do the same, Li Namei. We are students now; we must study hard. Don’t mess around everywhere.”
Li Namei’s eyes widened as if she had seen the sun fall from the sky, her expression extremely exaggerated: “Boss? What’s wrong with you? Did someone possess you? Didn’t you always say that bookworms are idiots before! Ahhhh, Boss, are you abandoning me? We agreed to be the worst in the whole grade together!”
Ruan Mei then remembered that Li Namei was apparently the last in the entire grade, even worse academically than the original owner. But Li Namei had always been a fervent, blind fan of the original owner and was essentially her only friend.
So, Ruan Mei looked at her with the gaze one reserves for a doting simpleton for a moment, then affectionately patted her head: “If you really see me as your boss, go back and study hard. Your boss is telling you to study now, you can’t disobey, understand? Stop going to internet cafes and arcades. If I have time, I’ll come to your place, and we’ll study together!”
Li Namei’s family was of modest means, and Ruan Mei selfishly wanted to borrow a desk lamp and some fruit.
Li Namei was confused for a moment but eventually nodded in agreement.
After some more nonsense chat, Ruan Mei walked Li Namei to the end of the corridor and turned back.
When she looked up, in the corner of the wall, Fang Zishui was standing with her arms crossed, looking at her languidly.
Ruan Mei: “…”
Caught in a lie, Ruan Mei felt extremely guilty facing Fang Zishui. She forced a casual smile, wanting to rush into the classroom and hide, but found that Fang Zishui was standing in a strategic spot, perfectly blocking her way into the classroom.
Ruan Mei turned to enter through the front door instead.
Fang Zishui suddenly called out to her: “Ruan Mei.”
Ruan Mei’s legs trembled, and she stopped reluctantly.
Fang Zishui’s footsteps sounded behind her, one by one.
“You’re looking for a part-time job?”
Ruan Mei, with her back to her, dared not turn around, and only hummed a response like a mosquito.
“That Hongfu Mall is currently hiring part-time customer service staff. You can go try.”
After saying this, Fang Zishui turned and walked briskly past Ruan Mei and into the classroom.
The heart that had jumped into Ruan Mei’s throat fell back into place. Fortunately, Fang Zishui didn’t press her about faking the ankle sprain.
However, dare she apply for the job Fang Zishui recommended?
