Stop Eyeing My Pretty Caretaker - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Jian Chen remembered that it was Ye Siting who moved first.
His own feet were frozen in place, his cheeks were burning, and his mind felt like it had short-circuited. After agreeing, he completely forgot how to react or what to do next.
The sound of the man’s footsteps approached him.
They weren’t loud, and the distance wasn’t far, but Jian Chen felt every step as if it were being struck upon his heart thud, thud pounding against his chest.
The tips of his ears felt like they were on fire.
This wasn’t the first time he and Ye Siting had kissed, but the last time was at their wedding. It had been a simple brush of the lips an essential, solemn ritual of the ceremony—without much emotion or meaning attached to it.
But now, Jian Chen admitted, he was panicking.
For a couple only ten days into a contract marriage, the progress seemed… a bit fast.
He could tell that Ye Siting seriously wanted to kiss him.
In a moment of heat, he had agreed. Jian Chen clenched his fists. If he tried to run now, would it be too late?
“Um”
Just as Jian Chen opened his mouth, he felt a hand on his waist.
In the next second, that hand tightened, pulling him into the man’s embrace.
Jian Chen’s heart skipped a beat, and his fingertips trembled: “Mph!”
The man had already leaned down, sealing his lips.
An entirely foreign sense of aggression swept over him.
Ye Siting’s lip line was perfect, leaving almost no gap between them. It was unavoidable, fitting him so perfectly that it felt like destiny. The warm breath conquered his senses, giving him the illusion of being scalded.
Jian Chen’s face was completely flushed.
His brain had crashed entirely; he didn’t know what he was doing, nor what Ye Siting was doing to him.
Behind them, fireworks filled the sky, illuminating the endless night. Beneath that sky, two lovers were kissing.
Ye Siting’s kiss was quite unlike the man himself. Usually, he was cold, taciturn, and even ascetic but his kiss was predatory and irrepressible.
Jian Chen felt he must be going mad. In this situation, his mind had no strength left to think about anything else. Everything he could hear and feel was Ye Siting.
He managed to raise his hand, pushing feebly against the man’s shoulder, protesting softly: “Um… Ye Siting can we stop?”
“?”
Ye Siting obediently stopped, but his expression was different than usual, making one’s heart race just looking at him.
His voice remained steady, but as he looked at him, it had turned much deeper and huskier. He asked: “Why?”
Jian Chen was very grateful that Ye Siting was still holding him, his hand still on his waist. Otherwise, his legs would have likely given out, and he wouldn’t even be able to stand. It was too embarrassing.
Jian Chen was afraid of biting his tongue, so he tried his best to regain his composure and whispered: “Well there are too many people, and it’s a public place…”
Ye Siting nodded, remained silent for a moment, and said: “Okay.”
Jian Chen pressed his feet into the ground, feeling like he could stand on his own now. Even if the man let go, he would be totally fine.
Unexpectedly, after Ye Siting said “Okay,” he directly picked him up.
Jian Chen: “!!???”
And it was a face-to-face carry. With his legs hooked, Jian Chen was forced to reach out and quickly wrap his arms around the man’s neck to keep from falling.
Ye Siting carried him straight back to the car.
The back seat was reclined, and the man kissed him again.
Jian Chen’s cheeks were scalding, and his head began to feel dizzy. The only sober thought left in his mind was a feeling of relief that he had put Dundun in the incubator earlier; otherwise, this would have been a live broadcast…
When they got home, Jian Chen tried to open the car door.
He found it wouldn’t open.
Jian Chen looked at his own hand, then pretended everything was normal and used a bit more strength. The door opened.
After realizing what was happening, Jian Chen secretly pinched his leg in frustration.
To be kissed until his whole body was limp and weak… Jian Chen suddenly felt like his twenty-plus years of life had been lived in vain.
Was it because of the 100% compatibility?
If it were anyone else, surely he wouldn’t be this pathetic, right?
Mhm. Jian Chen silently found a beautiful excuse for himself.
But why did Ye Siting kiss him?
Granted, they had already done that together, so a kiss seemed insignificant by comparison, yet Jian Chen felt there was something different about it. A kiss felt much more…
Taking Dundun out of the box, the red panda quickly climbed up and clung to Jian Chen’s neck. Jian Chen used one hand to support the little panda’s bottom, carrying him as he followed Ye Siting, waiting for the man to open the door.
Dundun: “?”
Dundun climbed up a bit higher, his little paws gripping tighter. He didn’t know what was wrong with Little Papa today—he seemed to have no strength, and his little body kept sliding down uncontrollably.
As they stepped into the house, Ye Siting’s gaze froze.
The first thing that caught his eye was the large floor-to-ceiling window. Outside was the deep ink of night, but the window was covered in a string of small lights. They were meticulously arranged and taped up, following the outline of a Christmas tree sticker, instantly lighting up the entire living room.
Balloons hung from the staircase railing, the tidy floor reflected glimmers of starlight, and even the little robot had been decorated with a bow. Exquisite square gift boxes of all sizes were stacked in the open spaces of the living room.
And surrounding these gifts was a Christmas tree.
This didn’t look like his house, yet it was indeed his house.
It was… the home belonging to him and Jian Chen.
Jian Chen was also stunned because he saw that the little merman—who knows how—had actually come out of the bathtub!!
He was sitting on the living room floor, hanging stars on the Christmas tree. His fish tail was slightly curled, and a red Santa hat sat atop his blonde hair. The little robot stood beside him, holding stars and fish in its hands.
Seeing Jian Chen enter, the little merman looked up, staring at him blankly.
Jian Chen immediately became nervous.
The constitution of a merman is unique; they are better suited for life in the water. Although they can rest on land, they cannot stay for too long. Adult merfolk can come ashore freely, but merman cubs are still weak; staying out of water for too long can lead to dehydration and hypoxia.
Jian Chen quickly took off his shoes and coat, walked over to the little merman, and crouched down: “Baby, why did you come out?”
The little robot displayed a “Guilty.jpg” expression and explained: “Javier said it was boring, so he came out to play with the Christmas tree.”
Jian Chen nodded and patted the little robot’s head.
Javier had lived in a reservoir for his first four months. The reservoir covered a large area and had all kinds of swimming fish, plus Vians’ company. Life for the little merman wasn’t boring.
But now, there was only a bathtub, and the little merman was all alone.
Jian Chen felt a bit of heartache.
Since the turmoil had gradually subsided, maybe he should find a day to bring a proper tank back from the institute and send this temporary little guest back?
After all, staying by his side would be quite dull for him.
Since Javier could talk now, he should be able to gradually understand the meaning of human language. Before sending him away, should he ask for the little merman’s opinion?
Jian Chen reached out and touched the little merman’s tail. It was slightly damp; he hadn’t been out of the water for too long. Fortunately, he was fine.
Dundun copied Jian Chen, silently reaching out a paw toward the little merman’s tail and giving it a “thwack.”
Then he retracted his paw, pretending nothing had happened.
Jian Chen: “…”
Dundun, we can’t be that kind of panda.
