Spoiled by a Paranoid Big Shot Since Childhood - Chapter 21
Early morning, in the speeding Rolls-Royce.
“…Tuantuan,” Qin Yian lowered his eyes slightly to tidy up his school bag, ensuring all his student manuals were properly packed inside. “We should be picking up our books today. Just follow me when the time comes. Don’t go off with anyone else.”
Xi Bei had been meticulously cared for by Qin Yian for five years. Someone who was already reluctant to move by nature had been spoiled to the point of becoming increasingly “lazy,” and his physical stamina was truly nothing to write home about.
“Of course I’ll follow An’an,” Xi Bei swung his legs. “But why?”
The Rolls-Royce drove into the school zone. On this first day of registration, the entrance to the middle school was crowded with people, and the car slowed to a crawl.
Qin Yian pulled the straps of Xi Bei’s bag and hoisted it onto his own shoulders. He lowered his voice, “They’ll be giving out so many books; you’ll definitely get tired. Just give them all to me when the time comes.”
Xi Bei stopped swinging his legs. His slender, fair calves looked so thin they seemed as if they could be gripped with a single hand.
“No!” Xi Bei countered, “How can I let An’an carry them? There are so many!”
“I can carry them myself! Really!”
Qin Yian glanced out the window, then reached out to grip Xi Bei’s smooth, slender calf, giving the soft flesh a small squeeze. His tone held no mockery, merely stating a fact:
“Oh, how impressive.”
Xi Bei: “…”
The moment the car came to a steady stop, Xi Bei observed the people outside, quickly opened the door, and jumped out, pouting at Qin Yian.
His small lip bead was rubbed by Qin Yian.
“Little pig,” Qin Yian compromised helplessly, “You carry half, okay?”
“That’s more like it.” Xi Bei smiled and reached out to take Qin Yian’s hand. “Let’s go, An’an.”
The two teenagers had no doubts about their class assignment. After all, their grades were excellent, and they were young masters of the Qin family.
A temporary assignment list was posted at the school gate, primarily to distinguish between the Development Division and the Regular Division. Butler Gu accompanied them to the entrance. He had been unusually silent throughout the journey. When he saw that the two of them were heading straight to the Development Division without even glancing at the list, he finally spoke up to stop them.
“Xi Bei!”
It was Qin Yian who turned around at the sound.
His brows furrowed slightly; he was extremely sensitive. He had sensed that something was wrong with Butler Gu since yesterday. After a moment of silence, he took the initiative to step forward.
Under Xi Bei’s bewildered gaze, Qin Yian approached Butler Gu, his eyes sharp as he asked, “What is it?”
Butler Gu faltered for a moment before continuing, “…It’s just that, Young Master Xi Bei…”
Xi Bei hummed, subconsciously asking, “What’s wrong, Uncle Gu?”
“Ah! I see,” Xi Bei seemed to realize something a moment later. He released the hand he had been tightly holding and looked a bit embarrassed. “I can’t hold hands with An’an like this at school, otherwise, too many people will look.”
Qin Yian’s hand clenched at empty air. However, he didn’t enjoy attracting too much attention either, so he nodded. “Got it.”
That was likely what Butler Gu wanted to say. Now there shouldn’t be any issues, right?
But Butler Gu remained hesitant.
“Is there anything else?” Qin Yian frowned.
“No…” Butler Gu seemed to have finally made up his mind. He paused, then spoke hesitantly, “Young Master Xi Bei… is not in the Development Division.”
“Xi Bei is in… the Regular Division.”
The moment the words were spoken, both of them froze.
The air grew quiet; the clamor outside became irrelevant to them.
But Qin Yian reacted quickly. He said calmly: “Oh, I see.”
Without another word, his face darkened. With Xi Bei’s bag on his back and his own things in his hand, he pulled Xi Bei along and headed toward the Regular Division.
Xi Bei’s expression shifted from stunned to dazed, and then to panic.
Butler Gu spoke up again: “Young Master Yian! Wait a moment! You are in the Development Division!”
Qin Yian seemed not to have heard, continuing to drag Xi Bei toward the Regular Division.
Xi Bei, hearing Butler Gu, paused and tried to pull back, tugging on Qin Yian’s arm. “An’an, An’an!”
Only when he heard Xi Bei’s call did Qin Yian reluctantly stop.
Qin Yian’s chest rose and fell. His youthful, handsome face displayed clear irritation as he spun around to face the hesitant Butler Gu who had followed them:
“What does Qin Yueyuan mean by this? Is he bankrupt? Did he only go half-bankrupt, enough to send one son to the Development Division, but not the other?”
Butler Gu felt a pang of regret as soon as he heard Qin Yian’s interrogation. He should have tried to discuss this with Qin Yueyuan, or at least warned him that Qin Yian would definitely be angry if they weren’t kept together…
But to be honest, Qin Yueyuan’s own intention was precisely his fear that Qin Yian and Xi Bei were too close. It seemed to be a vicious cycle.
“Young Master Yian, please don’t be angry,” Butler Gu cleared his throat. “The main reason is that Young Master Xi Bei’s household registration is tied to mine, so the school’s division isn’t technically wrong…”
Xi Bei obediently tugged at Qin Yian’s sleeve and nodded dutifully. “Yes, yes.”
Qin Yian kept his face tense, listening as Butler Gu continued to “make excuses.”
“Young Master Yian, there are too many people here. Let’s not talk about it outside today. Can we discuss it when we get home?” Butler Gu continued. “You can talk it over with Mr. Qin then, and consider having Xi Bei transferred… How does that sound?”
Xi Bei nodded in realization, squeezed Qin Yian’s hand, and continued, “Yes, that’s right.”
“…”
After a moment of silence, Qin Yian let out a scoff: “Little Piggy.”
“Yes… mmph.”
Qin Yian gave Xi Bei’s nose a fierce pinch: “I’m taking you to your classroom.”
Xi Bei nodded with a smile.
…
The noisy Development Division Class A1.
The two seats in the middle of the second-to-last row remained empty, but everyone tacitly avoided sitting in either of them or standing nearby to goof around.
These were the seats left for Qin Yian, but he was late. The teacher had ordered a twenty-minute break.
“…He really has quite the ego!” One person in a small group raised an eyebrow, clicking their tongue. “It doesn’t matter even if he’s late. After all, he’s Young Master Qin. Even the teacher has to go find him.”
The person surrounded at the center of the group paused, looked up, and gave a disdainful “hmpf.”
Another person read the room and chimed in, “Hey, he’s just like that. Probably just used to being pampered because he has some money. I don’t think his family is that powerful; they’re not as good as our Young Master Wen.”
“That’s for sure!” A round of cheers followed. “Our Young Master Wen was just in Jingnan before; he never got the chance to compete with him!”
Wen Li’s lips curled up slightly at the flattery. After a long moment, he waved his hand, stopping the three or four followers from continuing their praise. “It’s fine, after all, our Wen family is currently at its peak. Your family is doing quite well too.”
They immediately began flattering each other.
Naturally, they didn’t notice a girl nearby bright, poised, and so exquisite she didn’t look thirteen scoff and roll her eyes.
Finally, among this group of sycophants, someone who looked timid spoke up hesitantly, “Young Master Wen… um, I was in the same elementary school as Qin Yian.”
“…” Wen Li raised an eyebrow. “And?”
“Back in the second grade,” the person’s voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz, “someone provoked his younger brother. That person’s family was quite wealthy at least wealthier than mine. But he transferred schools the next day, and I never saw him again…”
Wen Li’s expression slowly changed. He let out an “oh.” “And then what? You mean I’ll be driven away by him too?”
“…No, no, no!”
The others interjected, “You’ve got it wrong. How could Qin Yian drive away Young Master Wen?! …You should be telling Young Master Wen if there’s anything Qin Yian is afraid of.”
The person whispered, “It seems to be… fire. Fireworks don’t work either. Someone once brought sparklers to school to play in secret; he seemed extremely angry when he saw them, and he didn’t come to school that day.”
“Afraid of sparklers?! Ahahahaha…”
The air was filled with mutual flattery and foul language. That beautiful girl Jiang Wanjiao could finally take no more.
Trying to be the school bully all day long? Do they think real life is a novel? How annoying.
Although she didn’t really like Qin Yian’s style, she disliked the way these people mocked him even more.
She slammed her book shut, glared at them, crossed her arms, and hurried out of the classroom.
The school was truly massive. After using the restroom, she didn’t return the way she came. She wanted to take a shortcut, but ended up looking around at the surrounding buildings in confusion, forced to face the fact that she was lost.
So annoying! Jiang Wanjiao let out a “hmpf” and continued walking forward, feeling grumpy.
After walking for about another five minutes, she suddenly saw two figures.
One was tall, the other short.
The taller one had a great physique, holding a bag in his hand. With a stride of his long legs, he pinned the shorter person against a nearby wall.
Jiang Wanjiao gasped softly.
But a moment later, she froze.
She took two steps forward to get a clearer look:
The shorter teenager had a smile on his face. His curled lashes, dark and bright eyes made him look like a living doll. His small, upturned nose and soft, full lips made him look lively and cute to the extreme!
Jiang Wanjiao wanted to scream!
She had always wanted a sister or brother like this, but unfortunately, she was an only child, and she had never seen such a cute stranger before.
If this boy were willing, she wanted to “snatch” him and make him her younger brother.
But… who was the person in front of her “brother”?
The boy smiled again, looking even cuter. He reached out to wrap his arms around the taller boy’s neck, patting his back like he was coaxing a big puppy, and whispered:
“An’an, don’t be angry. If Uncle Qin doesn’t agree, it doesn’t matter. We’re still in the same school… mmph!”
Qin Yian pinched Xi Bei’s lips shut.
“You’re still talking?” His brows were tightly locked. “If he doesn’t agree, I’ll just go to your class.”
Xi Bei rubbed against his hand. “Oh…”
“How about this,” Xi Bei coaxed with a smile, tilting his fair, soft neck and presenting it to Qin Yian, “I’ll let you take a bite. You won’t be angry anymore, okay?”
Jiang Wanjiao’s eyes widened.
In her shocked gaze, her long-lost “brother” was pinched on the face by the rumored “Big Devil” Qin Yian.
Then, Qin Yian took a fierce bite of his soft, chubby little cheek, leaving behind an irate-looking tooth mark.
