Xu Chi hit the entertainment headlines that very night. Of course, he was featured alongside Gu Jingxuan.

“Shocking! Popular Idol Xu Chi Acts Like a Diva on the First Day of Filming; Rumors of Discord with Movie Star Gu!”

Xu Chi crunched on his potato chips with a loud snap, as if he were biting off the head of the person who spread the fake news.

“I am definitely not on bad terms with Brother Gu,” Xu Chi muttered. He was sprawled on the bed playing with his phone, a hint of grievance in his eyes. Seeing this, his manager, Lin Tao, felt an urge to go teach the rumor-monger a lesson. He quickly chimed in, “Yes, yes. Anyone with eyes can see that you’re obsessed with him. The moment he stands next to you, you don’t even know where to look, and your face turns bright red.”

As Lin Tao spoke, Xu Chi covered his face. He could still feel the heat in his cheeks from that afternoon when Gu Jingxuan had leaned in close during their scene.

“Brother Lin, you didn’t see it. Brother Gu was so handsome today; he looked amazing in that outfit.” Xu Chi looked at Lin Tao with stars in his eyes, giving his manager goosebumps.

“Stop looking at me like that! If you want to gaze at someone, go gaze at your Brother Gu. You’re creeping me out.” Lin Tao organized the script Xu Chi needed for the next day. “You really should change your name to ‘Gu Jingxuan’s Number One Fanboy.’ It’s a waste of all those notes you took while reading the script because the moment you run into Gu Jingxuan, you freeze up like a corpse.”

Xu Chi laughed and took the script, beginning to study it closely while ushering Lin Tao out. “Brother Lin, you’ve had a long day too. Go back and get some rest. I’ll call if I need anything.”

With that, he rolled over, leaned against the headboard, and began reading.

Knowing that Xu Chi didn’t like to be disturbed when he was focused, Lin Tao placed some washed fruit on the table and left with a smile.

Just as Xu Chi was deep into his reading, a knock sounded at the door.

“Doesn’t Brother Lin have my room key? Why is he knocking?” Xu Chi grumbled to himself as he climbed out of bed to open the door.

To his shock, he opened the door to find Gu Jingxuan wearing nothing but a down jacket thrown over his shoulders. Xu Chi was so startled he almost slammed the door shut. Gu Jingxuan held the edge of the door to keep it open, and Xu Chi had to use every ounce of self-control not to stare directly at Gu’s abdominal muscles.

“Gu… Brother Gu, is… is there something I can help you with?” Xu Chi stammered. He felt like he could sense the heat radiating from Gu Jingxuan’s body.

While Xu Chi was dazed, Gu Jingxuan slipped into the room, pulling his open jacket tighter and shivering. “The water heater in my room suddenly broke. I was halfway through a shower and nearly froze to death. Since you’re right next door, I came to borrow your bathroom.”

Gu Jingxuan was holding a bath towel, his bare legs exposed. Despite the air conditioning being on in the room, he still looked cold.

Xu Chi touched his nose to make sure it wasn’t bleeding and nodded frantically. “Then… then hurry up and go wash, Brother Gu. Don’t… don’t catch a cold.”

Even after Gu Jingxuan entered the bathroom, Xu Chi remained frozen in place, still clutching his nose.

I just saw Brother Gu’s abs!

The realization finally hit him. He immediately grabbed his phone and typed a string of gibberish into his group chat with his friends.

[Chi-Chi]: jjxisjndlslqlndjixbdkqpskj

[Your Grandpa]: Chi, did you just roll your face across the keyboard?

[Brother Cai]: Something happened! There’s definitely a situation!

[Your Father: Jin]: Report to the organization immediately.

[Big Brother]: Same as above.

Watching the messages scroll up, Xu Chi buried his face in his quilt and let out a muffled squeal.

[Chi-Chi]: I… I… I saw my idol’s abs!

[Brother Lin]: Gu Jingxuan? Where are you two?

[Your Grandpa]: Details, please!

[Your Ancestor: Yuan]: Same as above.

Xu Chi watched with a grin as the messages flew by, then he turned off his phone, leaving them all in suspense.

A moment later, his manager called.

“I say, Chi-Chi, you guys haven’t moved that fast, have you?” On the other end of the line, Lin Tao held a glass of water, prepared to pour it over his phone for some peace and quiet if the answer was yes.

Xu Chi glanced at the light in the bathroom and could hear the sound of the water hitting the floor. He said shyly, “Brother Lin, what are you thinking? It’s just that Brother Gu’s water heater broke, so he came here to shower. Don’t overthink it. Go get your beauty sleep.”

“Hey, wait… wait a sec…”

Before Lin Tao could ask anything else, Xu Chi hurriedly hung up.

“Honestly,” Xu Chi whispered. “He has a crush and suddenly the manager is forgotten.”
