Suddenly and without warning, she locked eyes with a pair of fox-like eyes shimmering with a hint of craftiness.

The person before her was tall. Although her complexion was pale and lacked color, her features were so exquisite that Yu Yu momentarily found herself at a loss for words to describe them. Even though there was a faint smile on the woman’s face, it felt as though that smile did not quite reach her eyes.

Yu Yu blanked out for a moment, staring dazed. It took her a good while to realize she had been looking at the stranger for far too long. Feeling embarrassed, she silently pulled the red bridal veil back over her own head.

Li Yuan: “What is with the person they bought back this time?”

“You, you can lift the veil now.” Sitting upright on the bed with her head lowered, Yu Yu felt a sense of helplessness. This was her first time getting into the bridal sedan, her first time ever, and she was currently playing the role of a son-in-law marrying into the bride’s family. She had absolutely no idea what the next steps of the process were.

She also did not know when Li Yuan had appeared at the door. It had been so quiet just a moment ago, with no sound at all from outside; how had she suddenly pushed the door open and entered? Yu Yu had not made any preparations yet.

“Husband seems a bit impatient.” Many thoughts flashed through Li Yuan’s mind, but she ultimately translated them into action. She stepped forward and, bit by bit, lifted the red veil covering Yu Yu’s head.

Even though she had caught a glimpse just now, the sight of the figure before her with a lowered head still made Li Yuan purse her lips.

Those moist eyes were filled with anticipation, looking at her so obediently and softly, without a trace of fear. She had seen this kind of expression on other men before; after all, so many men had been sent here, of every variety imaginable.

But a girl seemed just a little bit different.

Although the little liar had short hair and was trying very hard to act like a boy, those rounded almond eyes gave her away. It was not just the eyes; her body, her hands, and her head all looked soft and supple, lacking even a hint of a boyish appearance.

She wondered how the little liar’s family had the courage to let her take that man’s place.

Pursing her lips, Li Yuan felt a moment of gloom, but she did not let it show. It did not matter; the final result would be the same anyway. Whether they were arrogant, obedient, or submissive, after staying for a few days and touching the benefits they could never obtain before, they would all become greedy.

Completely unaware of what was going on in the other’s mind, Yu Yu looked at Li Yuan as if she were a giant power bank. If the System had not been constantly reminding her that this person was quite dangerous, she would have clung to her recklessly.

Tensing her nerves in her helplessness, Yu Yu looked at her cautiously. “I, my, My Lady, is that what I should call you?”

She originally wanted to say “Wife,” but thinking about how the other person called her “Husband,” Yu Yu felt a bit shy. Although she did not know if Miss Li had discovered she was a girl, since the other had not exposed her, Yu Yu was not going to admit it herself. There was no need to confess; staying close to her was the most important thing.

“You can call me whatever you like.” Little liar.

The smile on Li Yuan’s face did not reach her eyes. She slowly removed her outer layers until she was down to her undergarments. Her tied-up hair was let down, the shiny black tresses cascading like a waterfall, silky and soft.

As she sat down beside her, Li Yuan turned her head only to find that Yu Yu’s gaze was fixed on her, seemingly never having left. It was a bit different from the lecherous looks those men used to give her.

“I, can I stick to you? A little closer?” Asking such a question made Yu Yu feel quite shy, but she only had seven days to live. If she did not seize the opportunity, she would lose out too much.

Li Yuan nodded stiffly, allowing Yu Yu to lean in against her.

Even through a layer of fabric, Yu Yu felt that the arm she touched was somewhat cold, but the surge of energy value made her let out a sigh of comfort. Greedy for more, she gripped Li Yuan’s arm tightly with both of hers; Yu Yu even closed her eyes.

So hungry, but it feels so good.

That tiny little thing was just stuck to her arm, very warm and very soft. Li Yuan’s mind could not quite process it. In this second, she felt that despite having lived for so long, she had not quite seen through everyone’s psychology.

On a wedding night, the “grooms” who were bought usually behaved in all sorts of ways. Some were forced by their families, whether they tried to escape halfway or the next day, or whether they joined the family happily only to be scared out of their wits after discovering the truth. She had seen every type.

Except for this type of Yu Yu.

This little liar clearly knew she was a girl, yet she dared to lean in close without any guard. She had clearly heard so many things inside the bridal sedan, and there were so many abnormalities during the wedding ceremony, yet she still looked completely trusting.

She could not tell if the girl was planning something or was just plain stupid. If it was a plan, she had to admit the girl’s acting was excellent. If it was stupidity, then she was far too foolish.

Outside the closed door, the servants huddled together, discussing.

“It is my first time seeing a girl marry in. I wonder if she will wail and cry tonight!”

“Then are we still going to play games with her? I have never played games with a girl before. The game starts tomorrow. Will she be scared to death?” The servant speaking was deathly pale, but his movements were a bit fidgety, even carrying a hint of shyness.

“If she dies, can she be my wife?” He was only 18 when he died, in the prime of his youth; he had never dated or married. For all these years, the Eldest Miss had always married grown men. This was the first living girl he had seen.

Yu Yu could not hear the clamor outside, but every single word fell into Li Yuan’s ears.

Her attention shifted entirely to the person beside her. As if she had gained some great benefit, the person clinging tightly to her arm looked soft and irrepressibly happy; the corners of her mouth were turned up, unable to hide it.

Is marrying me something that makes her this happy?

“Are you very happy?”

Hearing this, Yu Yu blinked. The smile in her eyes could not be hidden, nor did she intend to hide it. Instead, she expressed her emotions quite openly, though she was nervous enough to stutter slightly. “I, of course I am happy. I am, I am very happy to be able to marry in. I will be truly good to you.”

Clinging tightly to Li Yuan, energy values continuously poured into her body. Being so close, Yu Yu could even smell a faint fragrance emanating from the other woman. She did not know what kind of high-end perfume it was, but it felt incredibly comfortable.

There was a hint of shyness in Yu Yu’s tone, making Li Yuan want to suspect that the girl was deliberately trying to please her. However, she could not see any hypocrisy on the girl’s face. That excessive sincerity made Li Yuan’s chest feel a bit tight.

It was a very strange feeling. It was a sense of novelty she had not felt in all the time she had been dead. A touch of warmth seemed to appear on her habitually ice-cold face.

She turned her head away unnaturally but did not pull her hand back, forcing herself to calm down. She is just a twenty-year-old little liar. She will not live past the seventh day anyway. For these few days, I will, I will just be merciful and play along with her.

Seeing her stay silent, Yu Yu could not guess what the other was thinking. She licked her lips and rubbed her cheek against the woman’s arm with a bit of infatuation, saying seriously, “I am serious. Since I have married in, I am your person. I do not want to be apart from you for a single second.”

It would be best if we could be together forever, Yu Yu added internally.

This little liar was full of sweet words, yet Li Yuan surprisingly found herself quite happy to hear them. Unlike the words from those men, what came out of this little liar’s mouth seemed more sincere.

Staring at her, Li Yuan tried to find a flaw, some evidence that this person was lying. But Yu Yu’s face was flushed red, and she held onto her arm in a death grip. Could she really not feel that her arm was cold and different from her own?

She could only attribute this to great acting. Li Yuan thought to herself that she wanted to see how long this person could keep up the act.

“I am also very happy that Husband could marry into the family. It is just that my health is poor; I wonder if Husband will mind.” With a gentle expression, Li Yuan reached out and pinched Yu Yu’s cheek.

Despite being a country girl, her skin was delicate. When the person was originally chosen, it was a dark, ugly boy; how could this twin sister be so different?

As the icy fingertips brushed her cheek, Yu Yu shivered, thinking that this person’s body was truly cold. Even in this weather, her hands were like ice.

Without even speculating about Li Yuan’s true nature, Yu Yu obediently rested her chin in the woman’s palm, tilted her head, and continued to farm favorability points. “My Lady, I will listen to everything you say. I will take good care of you. We will slowly nurse your health back.”

“Alright.” Li Yuan smiled, feeling as though her own hand was becoming hot. She had to admit this little liar had some tricks. But so what? No matter the tricks, one could not survive in the Li Family Mansion.

Treating it entirely like playing with a pet, Li Yuan withdrew her hand. “Then, Husband must not despise me.”

“Mhm, mhm!” Yu Yu nodded with a beaming smile, feeling a sense of relief. She felt that the Eldest Miss of the Li Family was not that difficult to talk to, and her courage instantly grew. “As long as I can stay by my Lady’s side, I am willing to do anything. Just do not drive me away. I want to be stuck to you.”

Her obedient appearance made Li Yuan’s palm itch with the urge to pat her head, but she suppressed it. With her faked gentleness, Li Yuan asked, “You want to be stuck to me?”

What she got in response was Yu Yu’s firm nod, followed by the loud growl of her stomach.

“I am hungry. I have not eaten all day.” Yu Yu freed a hand to rub her stomach. Her courage had grown, but she was still a bit shy. “My Lady, can we have a late-night snack? I am so hungry.”
