Snuggling for Survival: A Quick Transmigration Tale - Chapter 11
During those first day or two after arriving, Yu Yu spent her time observing words and expressions. She felt her ability to read people had improved significantly; with just a glance, she knew that Li Yuan was not truly happy.
Although the corners of Li Yuan’s lips were slightly curled up at the moment, her eyes were clearly different. She wasn’t happy at all; she was faking it.
Her gaze falling upon that face wearing a forced smile, Yu Yu cupped Li Yuan’s cheeks, feeling a pang of heartache. She had been clinging to her constantly, absorbing so much energy. Now that Li Yuan’s mood was so poor, Yu Yu felt embarrassed to keep clinging so much. Under these situations, it would not be an exaggeration to say Li Yuan was her provider.
Taking a deep breath, Yu Yu felt her conscience pricking her. She had already seen through Li Yuan’s stubbornness and now wanted her to drop the disguise. “Wife, you can tell me anything. It is not good to keep so many things bottled up inside.”
Yu Yu believed she had exhausted her lifetime’s worth of acting skills here. If she were not unable to squeeze out tears, she could have looked even more worried. She looked at Li Yuan with a very serious expression.
Li Yuan’s mood was not great to begin with, and after hearing Yu Yu’s words, she simply nuzzled against Yu Yu’s shoulder. Her lowered eyelashes concealed her current expression. Her heart felt complicated. Li Yuan did not know if the time she had begged for would be enough. What she feared most was being unable to let go.
“Wife?” Yu Yu felt a bit flustered.
Without a definitive answer, she did not dare to make wild guesses. The atmosphere suddenly became even more oppressive. Yu Yu felt her heart fluttering and habitually called out for the System a few times. Receiving no response, she remembered the System had gone away for an upgrade.
Li Yuan said nothing, but the strength with which she held Yu Yu grew tighter and tighter. Just as Yu Yu felt she was about to be crushed and merged into one with Li Yuan, Li Yuan finally tilted her head up slightly. Her clear, beautiful eyes looked straight at her.
Yu Yu felt a surge of joy and struggled slightly. She thought Li Yuan was about to open up to her and prepared herself to comfort her. “Wife, I,” before she could finish, Li Yuan suddenly shifted her body upward. With both hands propped on either side of Yu Yu, she quickly lowered her head, and her cool lips landed softly on the corner of Yu Yu’s mouth.
Yu Yu froze. The turn of events was slightly beyond her expectations. Li Yuan did not move either, but her expression became somewhat tense. Looking down at Yu Yu from above, Li Yuan carefully observed the expression on Yu Yu’s face. Those indifferent eyes held a hint of cautious, tentative searching.
Seeing Yu Yu frozen and unmoving, Li Yuan paused for a moment, blinked, and lowered her head to kiss her again. Yu Yu’s brain was completely stalled. As a piece of underdeveloped data, she could not immediately process why Li Yuan was acting this way. By the time Li Yuan had kissed her twice, Yu Yu abruptly reached out her hand, blocking the third kiss that was about to land.
She could not analyze this behavior at all; she needed things to stop. Her raised hand acted as a rejection, causing a trace of dark energy to appear on Li Yuan’s excessively pale face.
Her expression turned freezing cold. Li Yuan grabbed Yu Yu’s raised hand and, with unquestionable force, pinned her wrist to the side. Her icy lips landed once more on Yu Yu’s. Yu Yu’s eyes widened. She had not even asked her question or waited for an explanation! Why was it happening again?
Seemingly dissatisfied with Yu Yu’s expression, Li Yuan angrily pinched Yu Yu’s right cheek and took a disgruntled little bite. “Ouch, it hurts!”
Tears immediately welled up in Yu Yu’s eyes. Her mouth pouted, but she stubbornly refused to let the tears fall. “Wife, what are you doing?”
With a gloomy face, Li Yuan pinched her other cheek. “Why did you reject me?”
They had bowed to heaven and earth, and they had shared a bed for so long. Their relationship was perfectly legitimate. She was merely mimicking the intimacy she had seen between her father and mother by kissing her, yet she was rejected.
Yu Yu’s eyelashes fluttered, her eyes still filled with confusion. There were faint tooth marks on her other cheek, but she did not dare cover them. She just looked at Li Yuan with a sense of grievance. “Reject what?”
Their gazes met; one was confused, while the other was angry yet restrained. This innocent, ignorant look made Li Yuan’s expression even more complex. After a long moment, she repeated the kissing motion. Only this time, it was a gentle kiss on the forehead.
“Just like this,” Li Yuan said. Frowning as she stared at Yu Yu’s face, Li Yuan looked at her intently. “I am expressing my affection for you, and you just reached out to reject me.”
Yu Yu thought she seemed to understand a little, yet also not at all.
“Were you lying to me all along?” Li Yuan’s tone carried a hint of resentment. At this moment, she looked at Yu Yu as if she were looking at a heartbreaker who had toyed with her. “Were you playing with my feelings?”
Yu Yu was naturally quite clueless regarding emotions, and this ignorance had not exactly blossomed into enlightenment even after being kissed. Blinking, she stared at Li Yuan who was propped above her. She belatedly licked her lips, her gaze unconsciously falling on Li Yuan’s mouth. “I did not know this was a way to express affection, but if you like it, I can do it too.”
Having received so much from Li Yuan, Yu Yu was not repulsed by this way of showing affection; she had just been startled, making her heart beat quite fast. She did not understand human emotions well, but Yu Yu knew one thing: as long as she did not dislike something, she would not refuse it.
Through this naive way of learning, Yu Yu’s warm breath brushed against Li Yuan’s cheek. A gentle kiss landed on the corner of Li Yuan’s mouth, just as Li Yuan had done to her. After the kiss, Yu Yu looked at her with sparkling eyes.
“I can also learn how to like you.” Reaching out to stroke Li Yuan’s cheek, Yu Yu felt her own face growing hot. However, she did not feel much shame; instead, she told Li Yuan very honestly, “My heart is beating a bit fast.”
Her words were blunt and pure, yet carried a touch of innocence. Li Yuan’s anger vanished instantly, without even leaving a ripple. Though she tried hard to restrain herself, the corners of her lips could not help but turn up. Li Yuan gave a huff and, with a bit of embarrassment, leaned down, pressing her cheek against Yu Yu’s chest. Her cascading hair and slight movements created an unbearable itch.
“It tickles,” Yu Yu complained softly, her fingertips running through Li Yuan’s hair.
The person buried against her chuckled softly and, pushing her luck, nuzzled her head further like a child. Yu Yu could do nothing with her, and she did not want to push her away. After all, the closer they were, the more energy she obtained. She could only squirm like an eel whenever it got too itchy.
This reaction only piqued Li Yuan’s interest. The two of them played around for a long while until Yu Yu’s strength gave out, at which point Li Yuan reluctantly stopped. Resting her head on Yu Yu’s chest, Li Yuan felt very clearly that Yu Yu was different from her; this person had a heartbeat and breath. Having lived so long, Li Yuan had only learned a little about expressing affection from her parents. Her experience was not at all proportional to her age.
“I like you very much too. Even though I do not know how to express it, I just like being with you.” Fearing that Li Yuan would tickle her again, Yu Yu hurried to use the free moment to offer some praise. “But I just learned one of the ways.”
Happiness could not be hidden; Li Yuan was all smiles. “It is okay. It is your first time liking someone, and it is my first time liking someone too. But I have more experience than you. I can learn the way my father treated my mother to express my affection for you.”
“Is it the kissing from just now?” Yu Yu licked her lips, seriously analyzing her recent behavior. “When we kiss, my heart speeds up, and I feel a little bit startled, but I do not hate it at all.”
Li Yuan herself was somewhat confused, but she nodded naively, acting as if she were an expert. It was not until Yu Yu’s stomach gave a loud growl that Li Yuan happily moved her head away and picked her up. “You are hungry, right? Let us go eat.”
“Eat?” Yu Yu rubbed her stomach; she was indeed very hungry, but her brow furrowed. “Did you not say the game has started?”
She had slept so long in a daze that her stomach was empty. While Yu Yu had not gotten involved in the game, she vaguely knew things were not that simple. When it came to emotions, she was completely ignorant and had not studied them much, possessing only a vague concept. However, regarding other knowledge, she had made sure to supplement herself well in the previous world.
Startled for a moment, Li Yuan—who had never intended for her to participate—reached out and ruffled Yu Yu’s hair. It was short but soft to the touch. Her smile suddenly became gentle as she said, “It is almost over.”
“Okay.” Yu Yu nodded innocently, covering her chest. That fast-beating heart had yet to return to its normal speed. Tightly interlacing her fingers with Li Yuan’s, Yu Yu followed her out of the room.
Besides the fast heartbeat, her chest felt a bit heavy. Yu Yu did not know why and simply brushed it off as a side effect of the kissing. When the human and the ghost appeared before A-Yuan and the others hand-in-hand, everyone was shocked.
“You two, what is this?” Even with his vast experience, A-Yuan could not explain why their hands were joined.
“This is my husband.” With a faint smile on her face, Li Yuan brought Yu Yu to the front and introduced her openly. “The meal will take a little longer. I brought him over first so you all could get to know him.”
The protagonist group of four was shocked. This is clearly a woman!
