She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 13
Mr. and Mrs. Qiao looked at their precious daughter with mixed feelings, never expecting that the first thing she would do after awakening her supernatural ability was to use it to amuse her girlfriend.
Exchanging a glance, they concluded their daughter was beyond saving. How did they end up raising such a love-struck fool?
They couldn’t figure it out, but they were also thrilled by this outcome. Having supernatural abilities meant Gaogao would have a higher chance of survival in this chaotic world!
“Perhaps the world truly is beginning to change,” Mr. Qiao said gravely. Due to some magnetic field influence, some people had mutated into zombies. To survive in such an environment, humans had to enhance themselves, which could lead to the evolution of supernatural abilities.
“If it changes, it changes. Since it’s here, we’ll adapt,” Qiao Muyi said indifferently. As long as their family stayed safe, it was merely a shift in their way of life.
“Exactly, no need to worry!” Qiao Gaogao didn’t bother with such concerns. To her, being happy was all that mattered.
“Alright, since you’re fine now, let’s get going!” They had originally planned to set off early for H City today, but Gaogao’s sudden condition had delayed them. Now that she was awake and, to their surprise, had gained supernatural abilities, there was no reason to wait any longer.
“Okay! We’ll freshen up now and head out soon,” Qiao Gaogao quickly agreed.
After her parents left the room, Qiao Gaogao carried Yinxi into the bathroom to wash up. She swiftly got both of them ready, and after changing clothes, she stared eagerly at Yinxi.
Yinxi tilted her head, puzzled about what Gaogao wanted.
Gaogao’s pretty features drooped, and she pointed indignantly at her own lips. “Good morning kiss!!!”
Wasn’t that standard for couples?
Yinxi’s eyes widened slightly, as if surprised. Was this part of the routine?
“Hmph!”
Gaogao pouted stubbornly, determined to get her good morning kiss today.
The two of them stood there in a stalemate, staring each other down, until Qi Ji’s urging shout came from outside. Gaogao was the first to give in. Grumpily, she stood on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on Yinxi’s lips. “See? I got my kiss!”
Though what she really wanted was for her senior to take the initiative.
Gaogao felt a bit aggrieved. Would her senior never take the lead from now on?
Yinxi was left dazed by the kiss, blinking slowly. Before she could react, Gaogao had already hoisted her onto her back and was running outside.
“…” She was a zombie!
Qiao Gaogao brought Yinxi to join the main group. With over fifty people now, the convoy stretched out in a row, an impressive and spectacular sight.
Mr. and Mrs. Qiao led the way at the front, while Gaogao brought up the rear. This arrangement allowed her to familiarize herself with her abilities along the journey and also kept her less conspicuous.
Although everyone was eager to move quickly, the roads were clogged with vehicles that had collided during the zombie outbreak. Previously, they had chosen to detour, but now, with Gaogao’s help, this problem could be somewhat resolved.
Later, Gaogao and Yinxi moved to the front vehicle, with Mr. and Mrs. Qiao taking up the rear.
Gaogao and Yinxi sat in the back seat, while Qiao Miao drove upfront. Gaogao leaned against the car window, using her ability to move obstructing vehicles out of the way and hurling them at zombies, clearing a path for the convoy.
Qi Miao was utterly stunned by her actions. “Gao Gao, that’s amazing! This is so cool! Absolutely badass!”
Envy practically dripped from Qi Miao as she watched being able to manipulate objects with just a wave of the hand felt incredibly satisfying!
This kind of thing perfectly catered to Qi Miao’s chuunibyou tendencies!
Qiao Gaogao couldn’t help but feel a little smug. “Keep it low-key, keep it low-key~”
When the road was clear, Qiao Gaogao would take out the medicated oil and apply it to Yinxi, massaging gently while feeling heartbroken. The previous injuries hadn’t even healed yet, and now she had taken another fall today.
“Growl, growl!” It’s fine!
Being a zombie had its perks. The old Yinxi had extremely sensitive pain receptors and was terrified of pain, but now, without any sensation of pain, she found it incredibly comfortable!
As Qiao Gaogao massaged, she carefully examined the wounds from the previous day. Gradually, her brow furrowed, and she began to panic.
Why weren’t these wounds healing? Apart from turning darker, there was no sign of scabbing at all.
She glanced outside the car window at the other zombies, and her expression grew grim.
The wounds on those zombies outside weren’t healing either.
This realization made Qiao Gaogao deeply uneasy. If that were the case, did it mean that once her senior’s body was damaged, it stayed damaged? That it couldn’t be treated like a normal person’s?
Yinxi had no idea what Qiao Gaogao was thinking. She let Qiao Gaogao continue applying the medicine, twisting her body to make eye contact with the zombies outside, trying to communicate with them.
“Growl, growl!” Hello!
“Growl, growl, growl!”
Yinxi tilted her head and growled several more times. The other zombies growled back, but she realized she couldn’t understand what they were saying.
So, do zombies actually have a language? Or are these growls just meaningless noises?
In the end, Yinxi was the first to give up. Those zombies outside were just too filthy and hard on the eyes!
After finishing the application, Qiao Gaogao suppressed her worries and turned her attention to dealing with the zombies outside. The more she could eliminate, the better the chances of survival for the other survivors.
But as she used her abilities more and more, Qiao Gaogao began to feel mentally exhausted. It seemed her powers weren’t something she could use endlessly.
“Growl, growl!”
Yinxi noticed her fatigue and handed her a bottle of yogurt.
“Thank you, Senior!” Qiao Gaogao happily accepted the yogurt, though she felt a slight regret that it wasn’t chilled. If only their team had more evolved ability users preferably one with ice powers, they could chill these drinks and enjoy them even more. The taste would be elevated to a whole new level!
Up front, Qi Miao suddenly sneezed and said, somewhat bewildered, “Is someone talking about me?”
“Maybe it’s someone whose heart you broke,” Qiao Gaogao replied offhandedly.
After all, her senior was quite popular at the martial arts school! With her tall, striking, and captivating appearance, she attracted both men and women alike. Many students had joined the school just because of her.
“Well, there’s no helping it. Senior’s charm is just that powerful,” Qi Miao said, puffing up with pride.
Seeing Qi Miao act this way, Yinxi thought that this kind of prideful demeanor might just be a tradition passed down in their martial arts school.
However, their relief didn’t last long. When they saw the noticeably more agile zombie leap onto their car’s hood, Qiao Gaogao immediately sensed something different about it.
This one was stronger than the others.
The zombie swiftly scrambled to Yinxi’s window and let out a fierce roar at her.
“Roar?” Yinxi was utterly bewildered.
