She Said That Kisses and Hugs Are Needed for Redemption [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 11.1
The small village instantly became as bright as day, yet the dazzling light falling upon the floating spirits did not evoke panic or oppression. Instead, it was like sweet rain from heaven, nourishing their already tattered souls.
Soon, the riverbed’s silt vanished entirely, revealing a massive, eerie circular pattern glowing with a dark crimson light.
Lu Xi knew at once that this was the sinister killing array trapping the villagers. Without hesitation, she traced shapes in the air with her hand. Countless starlight particles gathered in her palm, forming a colossal sphere of divine power that shone even more brilliantly than before.
At the peak of its righteous might, she hurled it violently toward the exposed dark-red killing array.
The clash of silver-white and blood-red intertwined into strange ripples, though no one could see it. The moment the dark crimson vanished, silver radiance burst forth, scattering across every inch of land and every living being that had been corroded by demonic energy.
“Who dares destroy this array?!” A sharp, feminine voice rang out as a figure descended from the sky, intent on annihilating the entire area with a single strike.
Hearing this, Lu Xi glanced at the now-destroyed array, no longer capable of restraining the living souls and lazily withdrew her hand, lifting her gaze to the moon-white figure in the distance.
The newcomer’s face was obscured by swirling mist, making it impossible to discern her features. Yet, her sheer arrogance was palpable even from her stance alone.
The woman first looked at the array, and upon seeing it destroyed, her heart trembled with shock, her eyes widening in fury. Then, her gaze fell upon the only living person present, her icy tone dripping with murderous intent: “Insignificant ant, daring to court death!”
Before her words even faded, her attack was already descending upon Lu Xi’s head.
With a soft scoff, Lu Xi sidestepped slightly, evading the sinister force that blended divine and demonic power.
Having discerned the nature of the newcomer, she abruptly vanished from her spot.
The woman was stunned when her attack missed. Then, as Lu Xi disappeared entirely, her unease magnified infinitely.
A gust of wind brushed past her feet. She quickly looked down, only to find the ground empty. Trembling uncontrollably, her initial arrogance shattered completely. “Who are you?! Show yourself!”
She wanted to flee, but a chilling sensation wrapped around her neck. Stiffening, she slowly turned her head in terror toward the figure who had silently appeared beside her. “Y-you, you!”
A flash of golden light passed through Lu Xi’s eyes, and the woman’s eyelids drooped shut as she fell into unconsciousness.
Letting her collapse onto the rocky ground, Lu Xi wiped her fingertips where she had touched the woman. Brushing off her sleeves, she resumed her serene and noble divine demeanor, walking gently toward the trembling souls of the villagers.
“Let’s continue.” She dispelled the protective barrier she had cast around the villagers earlier and raised her hand once more. “To dispel the resentment clinging to you all, it may hurt a little. Please bear with it.”
Winds and clouds churned as the resentment scattered completely.
Golden rain fell heavier and heavier, washing over each soul, cleansing them of the demonic taint that had polluted them. Their forms grew lighter, and they stretched comfortably, each bowing deeply to Lu Xi in gratitude. “Thank you, Immortal! Thank you, Immortal!”
Seeing that the resentment had been mostly purified, Lu Xi waved her hand casually, splitting open space. A massive, intricately patterned gate materialized before everyone.
The door creaked open, releasing an icy aura that struck every soul present. Beyond it stretched an endless black lake, with a path of crimson flowers unfurling far into the distance.
The crowd realized what this was and, with even greater respect, bid farewell to Lu Xi before lining up to pass through the massive gate that spanned the boundary between life and death.
As the villagers neared the end of the procession, the old village chief remained waiting, sighing repeatedly as he gazed at the distant, low-roofed houses.
Lu Xi also turned to look. She knew what the old chief was worried about.
Though she was a deity, she could not control the thoughts of mortals.
Fortunately, before long, several faint spirits drifted over from the houses where lights had still been burning, swaying unsteadily as they approached the old chief.
Lu Xi recognized two familiar figures, and for a moment, she felt a pang of emotion.
The elderly couple who had taken her and Fu Lancen in walked forward arm in arm, their faces ashen yet faintly lit with hope.
“Thank you, Immortal, for the jade.” The old woman trembled as she held out a carefully wrapped jade pendant to Lu Xi, sighing deeply. “The old man and I we’ve remembered now. We died long ago at the hands of those demonic creatures. We just couldn’t let go of our little grandson, who was taken by them. We deceived ourselves into thinking we were still alive still living with him.”
By the end, her voice had grown hoarse, choked with sorrow.
“You are an Immortal of great virtue, able to save all of us.” The elderly couple’s clouded eyes held a glimmer of hope. “Might you, might you also save our little grandson?”
Lu Xi did not take the pendant. Suppressing the melancholy in her heart, she smiled gently. “Your grandson is safe. Other cultivators have already rescued him. You need not worry, go peacefully to your next life.”
“In the world beyond, present this jade to the Underworld Sovereign. He will grant you one request regarding your reincarnation.”
After seeing off the last soul from Anping Village, Lu Xi flicked her fingers lightly in the air, and the heavy dark gate vanished into the wind.
Standing where she was, she gathered the last traces of demonic energy lingering in the surroundings. When she turned, she saw Fu Lancen hurrying toward her.
“Come and identify someone.” She beckoned to the girl, whose expression was unreadable, then pointed at the unconscious woman on the ground, her voice calm. “Do you recognize her?”
Fu Lancen, her entire being radiating coldness, stopped two paces away from Lu Xi. Her lips were pressed tightly together as she studied Lu Xi with an inscrutable gaze, as though seeing her for the first time.
But in the end, reason prevailed. Slowly, she lowered her head to look at the woman lying face-up on the gravel path.
Her pupils dilated, shock overtaking all else. She gasped, “How is it her?!”
Under Lu Xi’s probing gaze, Fu Lancen gritted her teeth and revealed the woman’s identity.
“She’s Bai Youran’s personal maid, Xia Xin. They were as close as sisters. By all accounts, she should be in the Heavenly Realm right now. What is she doing in this remote village?”
Her delicate nose twitched slightly as an unusual scent reached her. Instantly, her expression darkened with unease. “Why does she carry, the stench of demons?”
Lu Xi crouched down, her slender fingers pressing lightly against Xia Xin’s dantian, where a murky glow pulsed faintly.
The demonic energy grew unmistakable. She withdrew her hand.
“A demon core has been planted within her.”
“What is a demon core?” Perhaps ordinary cultivators and mortals wouldn’t understand, but Fu Lancen, who grew up in Qingqiu, grasped it immediately. Tens of thousands of years ago, before the Demon Lord was sealed away, the demonic race wreaked havoc upon the mortal realm by using demon cores. They would implant these cores into cultivators or low-level immortals to control them and bend them to their will.
So, had a demonic entity used a demon core to take control of Xia Xin?!
In an instant, countless thoughts raced through Fu Lancen’s mind. She even wondered if Xia Xin had struck some deal with the demonic race, bewitching the people of Qingqiu was that why her once-weak cousin had suddenly become a completely different person?!
“She doesn’t have that kind of capability,” Lu Xi saw through Fu Lancen’s thoughts at a glance. “If she could bewitch so many in Qingqiu, why would she personally come to this remote village to handle matters?”
Fu Lancen knew what Xia Xin meant to Bai Youran, so she naturally understood Lu Xi’s reasoning.
She had pondered many possibilities, but having been away from Qingqiu for so long, she no longer knew what the situation there was like now.
After much deliberation, she realized that continuing to evade the issue was no solution. Even if not for Qingqiu’s sake, she had to return for her own to investigate why Xia Xin had been implanted with a demon core and whether someone in Qingqiu was colluding with the demonic race, plotting even greater evils.
“I need to go back,” Fu Lancen steadied her resolve.
Lu Xi shrugged. “Then go back. Rest assured, I won’t let anyone take your essence-blood again.”
With this affirmation, Fu Lancen quietly exhaled in relief. Only then did she belatedly recall the scene she had witnessed upon arriving earlier.
Her narrow, bright fox-like eyes slanted toward Lu Xi, who seemed somewhat exasperated. “Just who are you?”
Originally, when Lu Xi had rescued her from Qingqiu, Fu Lancen had guessed that Lu Xi was likely a reclusive immortal from some mountain. Perhaps her cultivation was quite high, but against the deities of the Divine Realm or the old foxes of Qingqiu, she probably wouldn’t stand a chance.
But just now, she had seen Lu Xi casually tear open the Gate of Life and Death between the mortal realm and the Netherworld, this was no feat an ordinary immortal could accomplish!
