She Comes Into My Dreams Every Night - Chapter 70
Chapter 70: The Power of Friendship
Stepping out of the restaurant, the cold night wind instantly sobered Su Huaiwang’s mind.
She pulled at her thick coat, wrapping herself up tightly.
Today was an important day, and she had fought a considerable internal battle to wear the beautiful, off-season dress underneath. Now, as the cold wind rushed in, her body shivered, and she couldn’t help but regret it again.
Who was she even dressing up for?
Lin Jue would only ask if she was cold, and Tu Zhizhuo was even worse; it didn’t matter what she wore in front of her.
Perhaps her thoughts were too strong. Tu Zhizhuo, beside her, actually leaned over, looking dissatisfied:
“Are you talking bad about me?”
Su Huaiwang gave her a look: “Did you figure it out?”
“I knew you were full of dark thoughts! Truly ‘gilded on the outside, rotten on the inside’!”
“I didn’t realize I even had a ‘gilded’ layer on the outside in your eyes.”
“Ah, I know,” Tu Zhizhuo’s eyes flashed with ridicule, as if she had suddenly understood something: “Did you get secretly mad because I didn’t compliment you on dressing so seductively today?”
Su Huaiwang glanced at her: “When will your vocabulary be a little more civilized?”
Tu Zhizhuo completely ignored her complaint: “I figured Lin Jue had already complimented you. With our relationship, do I need to pretend and say ‘Bao bao mi mi du’ to you?”
Su Huaiwang imagined Tu Zhizhuo speaking in a cutesy voice, saying “Bao bao mi mi du,” and shivered violently.
“Shut up.”
“Got it.” Tu Zhizhuo was amenable, opening the car door: “Come, your old servant will open the door for you.”
Su Huaiwang let out a short ‘hum’ from her nose and got into the car without ceremony. Tu Zhizhuo also squeezed in.
“Where to next?” Su Huaiwang asked her inside the car.
“A bar, of course. Haven’t been to one in ages because of the competition.”
Su Huaiwang hesitated: “What kind of bar?”
Tu Zhizhuo rolled her eyes: “A chill bar! The kind with live singers!”
Su Huaiwang relaxed, leaned against the window, and scrolled through her phone, lost in thought.
Tu Zhizhuo was extremely bored. She leaned her head over to peek at the screen, only to find that her friend was reading through her chat history with her little girlfriend.
She read a section out of curiosity, then became dissatisfied: “What are these messages? They don’t look like people dating at all. It’s more like a daughter reporting to her mother.”
Su Huaiwang sighed: “I told you…”
“I’m saying you look like the daughter.”
Su Huaiwang fell silent.
It was true in the chat history. The phrases Lin Jue sent most often were things like “Where are you,” “What do you want to eat,” and “I’m taking the dogs out.”
She and Lin Jue were currently in this bizarre, conjugate mother-daughter relationship.
The chat history stopped at the message she had just sent to Lin Jue.
【Su Huaiwang】: I went to a bar with Tu Zhizhuo
【Su Huaiwang】: [Store Recommendation]
Su Huaiwang sighed again and put away her phone.
“I told you a long time ago to stop being so repressed. Put more of the energy you use for fantasizing into your girlfriend, and things wouldn’t be this way now.”
They would have been completely in sync and utterly overwhelmed by passion a long time ago.
“I know, but…”
The angel and the demon secretly crept out to fight again.
In the past few months, she and Lin Jue had not been intimate again.
She could actually feel that sometimes Lin Jue wanted to follow the mood and proceed.
But her enthusiasm would always come to an abrupt halt—the thought that Lin Jue might be forcing herself just to satisfy her desire made her feel uncomfortable.
Moreover, upon reflection, it had always been Lin Jue catering to her, but she had never noticed any needs from Lin Jue herself.
Perhaps Lin Jue genuinely didn’t have any, after all, the other person was no longer human.
As these fragmented thoughts ran through her mind, her nose twitched. By the time she snapped back to reality, she had already pushed Lin Jue away.
This scene had happened countless times in the villa.
Compounded by Lin Jue moving in, the occasional inconvenience due to her menstrual cycle, and her prohibition against Lin Jue entering her dreams again, she had been completely celibate for the past few months.
Unexpectedly, this feeling wasn’t as unbearable as her previous attempts at abstinence.
She was even starting to feel that continuing this way with Lin Jue might not be so bad.
“So what exactly are you ‘butting’ about?” Tu Zhizhuo’s voice jumped out, interrupting her thoughts.
“Sigh, it’s nothing. You wouldn’t understand.”
“Is she sexually inept?”
“Why don’t you suspect I’m sexually inept?”
“Who would believe that?”
“…” Su Huaiwang believed it herself.
She turned to look out the window, refusing to argue about the pointless question with Tu Zhizhuo.
The car stopped on the brightly lit bar street. When she got out, Tu Zhizhuo grabbed her arm, leaning close to her ear:
“I think the outfit you’re wearing today is perfect. Flirting a little is guaranteed to work. It’s time to unleash your mature woman charm and make her lose all sense of direction.”
Su Huaiwang pushed her away: “Does twenty-five count as mature? Didn’t you just tell me two days ago that the woman who tried to pick you up recently was only twenty-nine and shouldn’t pretend to be a mature type?”
Tu Zhizhuo raised an eyebrow: “Hey, she’s her, you’re you. It’s different.”
As she spoke, her fingers gently brushed against Su Huaiwang’s cheek, flirting: “Don’t waste that gorgeous face of yours…”
Unfortunately, the act didn’t last, as it broke upon seeing Su Huaiwang’s solemn, disgusted expression.
“Hahahahahaha! Can you please stop making that sour face! It’s too funny!”
“Is it very funny?” Su Huaiwang looked at her expressionlessly.
Tu Zhizhuo wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes: “Not funny, not funny. Okay, let’s go in.”
Su Huaiwang nodded slightly, instinctively looking around.
For some reason, she felt like someone was watching them.
It must be her imagination.
She opened her phone again. Lin Jue had already replied.
【Lin Jue】: Okay, I understand. Do you want me to pick you up when you’re done?
【Su Huaiwang】: Yes
Her phone was abruptly pressed down. In front of her was Tu Zhizhuo’s unrestrained and flashy face.
“When you’re out with friends, stop constantly thinking about your little girlfriend!”
Su Huaiwang smiled: “Sorry.”
Their figures disappeared into the bar entrance. A few minutes later, another figure slowly emerged from the crowd, looking at the bar sign in silence.
A drunkard on the bar street accidentally glimpsed her face and immediately widened his eyes, whispering to the person next to him:
“Woah! A beauty…”
Lin Jue ignored the few people who came over to talk to her. She lowered her gaze and disappeared into the shadows behind the lights.
Although she was stunningly beautiful, her disappearance didn’t draw anyone’s attention.
Like a drop of water, she simply melted into the ocean of people.
Inside the bar, Su Huaiwang had already downed several drinks.
She and Tu Zhizhuo were chatting happily, even temporarily forgetting about Lin Jue.
Su Huaiwang’s first time at a bar was three years ago, shortly after her parents’ accident.
She was desperately looking for something to fill the emptiness in her heart. Tu Zhizhuo took her to experience every form of entertainment she could manage.
So, strictly speaking, the reserved Su Huaiwang had even been clubbing before, she just didn’t enjoy it.
As the clock approached eleven, Su Huaiwang was starting to feel a bit dizzy.
She waved her hand: “Let’s call it a night.”
“Ha!” Tu Zhizhuo was happy from the drinking: “Going back to cuddle with your little girlfriend, are we!”
“If you’re so jealous, why don’t you find one yourself?”
“Too much trouble.” Tu Zhizhuo downed the rest of her drink: “Let’s go, let’s go!”
“Oh, wait a moment. I’ll send her a message. She said she was going to pick me up.”
So Tu Zhizhuo sat down and ordered another drink.
Su Huaiwang seriously typed on her phone. Just as the message was sent, a reply came instantly.
【Lin Jue】: I’m already outside. You can come out.
Su Huaiwang’s brain was slightly cloudy.
【Su Huaiwang】: That fast?
【Lin Jue】: Mhm.
Su Huaiwang looked up: “She’s here. Let’s go.”
Tu Zhizhuo, who hadn’t received her drink yet, was just as surprised: “That fast?!”
“Yes, yes. She’s very efficient,” Su Huaiwang tried to bluff.
“Then let’s go.” Tu Zhizhuo turned around: “Hey, I’m leaving. Could you please give the drink I didn’t get to the lady over by the bar?”
The bartender nodded, casting his gaze toward the lady she mentioned at the bar.
The woman with the heroic features awkwardly pursed her lips and asked: “What did she order?”
“‘See you tomorrow’,” the bartender honestly replied.
Lei Yinyin scratched her face with her index finger, leaning her elbow on the bar.
This really was a coincidence… Would they believe her?
Outside the bar, Lin Jue was indeed waving at them.
Tu Zhizhuo poked Su Huaiwang with her elbow, tipsily malicious:
“Do you feel like a puppy is wagging its tail at you?”
Su Huaiwang squeezed her face with both hands, pulling it sideways: “I said, treat! people! as! people!”
“I knooow…” Tu Zhizhuo cried out in pain.
Lin Jue, having rejected several attempts to be picked up along the way, walked up to them. Seeing their current intimacy, her eyelashes cast a shadow over her amber eyes, lost in thought.
“Let’s go. The car is parked over there.”
The two drunkards obediently followed behind her.
Lin Jue started the car and first drove Tu Zhizhuo home.
Su Huaiwang rolled down the passenger window and waved to her: “Bye-bye.”
Her voice was uplifted, showing how happy she was.
Tu Zhizhuo also waved back: “No goodnight kiss for me?”
Su Huaiwang laughed: “Haha, go to hell.”
The atmosphere of friendship was so harmonious and moving.
Closing the window, the person in the driver’s seat spoke unexpectedly: “Were you happy today?”
Su Huaiwang, somewhat numb from the alcohol, replied: “Happy, yes.”
“I want to kiss you.”
Su Huaiwang suddenly opened her eyes, wondering how the other person had steered the conversation to this topic.
She swallowed, choosing her words carefully: “It’s not safe…”
“No one will notice.” Lin Jue stared at her intently, mist clinging to her fingertips: “I still remember the last time you were in the car…”
Su Huaiwang herself might not want to face it, but Lin Jue remembered her grasping her hand, panting “just once” in her ear.
Su Huaiwang quickly interrupted her: “I was too muddled last time. I am a mature adult now!”
Lin Jue lowered her gaze, her face expressionless.
“Besides, what if you kiss me, and a sobriety check shows I’m over the limit later?” Su Huaiwang was still explaining.
Lin Jue was choked by her words, hesitating to speak: “I’m a ghost…”
Her tone was utterly wronged.
Seeing that she couldn’t argue her way out, Su Huaiwang resorted to another method.
She stroked Lin Jue’s head: “I’ll let you kiss me when we get back to the hotel, okay?”
Lin Jue looked up: “Can I kiss you any way I want?”
There was an unusual flavor in her tone, but Su Huaiwang didn’t notice it.
The woman readily agreed: “You can do anything you want.”
The girl finally smiled, whispering: “That’s good.”
With a roar, the car started, leaping forward with lightning speed.
Su Huaiwang gripped the seatbelt, looking at the smiling person in the driver’s seat in disbelief.
She belatedly realized the danger.
But unfortunately, it was too late.
