She Comes Into My Dreams Every Night - Chapter 51
Chapter 51: Don’t Admit It
【I had a wet dream】
【When do you not? Is this even worth discussing anymore?】
【This time is different】
【Don’t your dreams have different themes every night?】
【Sigh, you wouldn’t understand even if I told you】
【I wouldn’t understand? I know exactly what kind of crap you’re trying to pull the moment you drop your pants! You probably just had too much fun last night and now you’re scared you’re going to get more and more perverse】
【Could you please not be so crude】
【Better than you being all secretly horny, lol】
Su Huaiwang sighed and turned off her phone screen.
Tu Zhizhuo was crude but not wrong; this was indeed her biggest concern right now.
She never thought that one Lin Jue would no longer satisfy her; now, her small dream had to accommodate two.
If this continued, she was afraid she really would become repressed and perverse.
Su Huaiwang tossed over on the sofa, hugging Mimi, who was grooming herself, and sighed again.
Mimi looked at her strangely, not understanding what she was thinking.
“If only I could get sterilized too…”
Su Huaiwang looked gloomily at the healthy, well-fed, neutered cat. The cat shuddered and wriggled out of her embrace.
The doorbell rang again. Su Huaiwang weakly stood up.
The doorbell, which hadn’t been used much for two years, had practically been working overtime in the past two months.
Outside was the victim who had appeared in her dream last night.
Lin Jue smiled. “Good afternoon, have you eaten yet…”
Before the girl could finish her sentence, a shout flew in from afar:
“Waaah—! Little Grey! Slow down!”
In an instant, two dogs and a person materialized before them.
Lei Yinyin cleverly avoided the treacherous dark energy trying to trip her and stood in front of Su Huaiwang, her smile very bright.
“Is it usually your family’s lunchtime? Why is it running so fast?”
Su Huaiwang first stepped aside, allowing the two thoroughly excited dogs to rush inside.
The tense atmosphere between the two women instantly dissipated the moment Su Huaiwang looked up.
Su Huaiwang opened her mouth, feeling something was amiss, but couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Were they… that free?
She felt like this scenario had occurred quite a few times recently.
When sketching or taking a walk with Lin Jue, she would inevitably bump into Lei Yinyin. When playing with the dogs with Lei Yinyin, she would inevitably encounter Lin Jue. Even when coming to visit her, the two arrived together.
And… they seemed to have no sense of distance from each other?
Su Huaiwang fell silent.
“I’m sorry, I’m not feeling very well today.”
A polite dismissal.
Lin Jue’s already poor mood darkened further.
It wasn’t until the door, which had always been open to her, closed mercilessly that her face turned sour.
The Celestial Master, on the other hand, smiled happily. Her original goal was to prevent Lin Jue from getting close to Su Huaiwang. As for being rejected by Su Huaiwang herself, honestly, it wasn’t that important.
“Ha, even a ghost of your caliber can’t enter a door where the owner says no, can you?”
“Do you want your arm broken again?”
Lin Jue narrowed her eyes. The sky inexplicably turned gloomy, and a faint mist began to spread.
Lei Yinyin remained calm. “Someone’s watching, you know.”
She subtly pointed to the floor-to-ceiling window facing the yard.
Su Huaiwang thought she was being secretive, but for a Celestial Master, prying was easy to detect.
The mist dissipated, and sunlight streamed down once more.
“My hand just healed. If it gets broken again, do you think she’d become suspicious?”
“There are many ways to inflict torment.”
Lei Yinyin raised an eyebrow. “You could endure decades without killing, but you can’t tolerate a small joke like this?”
Lin Jue didn’t look at her. “I don’t like jokes.”
“You boring ghost. Humans don’t like your type.”
At these words, the girl’s aura became more dangerous.
Her amber eyes rotated stiffly, carrying a deep threat. “Then what type of human do they like? Your type?”
Lei Yinyin knew she was repeatedly dancing on Lin Jue’s nerve-line and didn’t dare to provoke her further. She merely shrugged.
“I don’t need anyone to like me. I’m not looking to date.”
Having said that, she walked away without looking back.
Lin Jue rotated her neck, shifting her gaze from Lei Yinyin to the floor-to-ceiling window.
The window curtain moved nervously. The sense of being watched vanished, which was disappointing.
Looking at the tightly shut door, Lin Jue’s expression was unreadable. After a long moment, she finally sighed and turned to leave.
…
【…】
【What’s wrong? Bad mood?】
【No】
【Then are you sending me a bunch of ellipses for fun?】
【A little bit】
【Relationship trouble? Finally planning to go after her? Ha! You got it coming! Tell me, tell me, tell me! Let me be your faithful strategist!】
…
She was already annoyed, and seeing what Tu Zhizhuo sent made her even more irritated.
Tu Zhizhuo’s messages were flooding the screen, bothering her eyes.
If it was relationship trouble, it definitely wasn’t.
Su Huaiwang irritably tossed her phone.
She was just slightly uncomfortable seeing Lin Jue and Lei Yinyin being close.
She was the one who started interacting with Lin Jue first…
Undeniably, friends could be possessive too.
So, it wasn’t…
It wasn’t because she had different feelings for Lin Jue.
The sharp sound of the doorbell broke through Su Huaiwang’s current internal self-justification.
She dragged her tired body off the sofa.
Standing at the door, she instinctively looked around twice.
The Celestial Master, whose senses were sharp, immediately asked her, “What are you looking at?”
Su Huaiwang pursed her lips. “Nothing. It’s just that you usually come with Lin Jue.”
The moment Lei Yinyin’s expression changed, Su Huaiwang realized how much possessiveness was in her last sentence and quickly tried to salvage the situation.
“Well, you two have been seen together often recently, haven’t you?”
The more she tried to cover it up, the stranger Lei Yinyin’s expression became. Su Huaiwang simply shut up and resignedly ushered Lei Yinyin into the house.
This was the second follow-up visit. Unlike the last one, Lei Yinyin had already confirmed the time with her on social media.
The Celestial Master held the electronic file, sitting in the same spot as last time, her brows slightly furrowed as if she were contemplating something.
Su Huaiwang placed a cup of tea in front of her. Only then did Lei Yinyin snap out of it and thank her.
With a light swipe of her finger, the pre-prepared questions in the electronic file were closed.
Lei Yinyin took a sip of tea and casually asked, “Shall we begin then?”
Su Huaiwang nodded.
“May I ask if you are currently… still single?”
Su Huaiwang’s eyes held a momentary flash of panic. Lei Yinyin couldn’t miss this instant of confusion, and her heart sank.
The woman avoided her gaze and nodded.
“Do you have any plans to start a close relationship in the near future?”
Su Huaiwang frowned, wondering why the other person kept asking these kinds of questions today.
“I… I would have answered no, but for some reason, Tu Zhizhuo’s words flashed across her mind.
“I’m not entirely sure,” the answer ultimately became.
“Then what are your expectations for a future partner? Or, what do you think your close relationship partner should be like?”
A barrage of questions shot out of Lei Yinyin’s mouth.
Su Huaiwang, who had been hesitant at first, gradually sensed that something was wrong.
She didn’t answer Lei Yinyin’s questions. Instead, she asked, “What do you mean by asking these? Is this really part of the follow-up content?”
Seeing that she had been found out, the Celestial Master stopped pretending, turned off the screen of the electronic file, and tossed it aside.
She looked into the woman’s eyes and asked, word by word:
“If one day you discover that the person you love is not actually who you imagined, what would you do?”
Su Huaiwang was stunned. “What are you talking about…”
Lei Yinyin took a deep breath. “I’m saying—”
You can’t fall for Lin Jue.
She couldn’t utter those few words.
An invisible large hand clamped around her throat, preventing the air she had already recycled from being exhaled smoothly.
Lei Yinyin’s face flushed crimson. She struggled desperately, startling Su Huaiwang.
“W-what’s wrong with you?!”
Su Huaiwang picked up her phone, ready to dial 120, but was stopped by Lei Yinyin’s voice.
The invisible large hand had receded. Lei Yinyin slumped on the sofa, her chest heaving up and down.
“N-nothing, just an old problem. Don’t worry…”
Su Huaiwang looked at her, her eyes showing unconcealed worry. She wanted to say something but couldn’t.
Lei Yinyin waved her hand, her breathing still ragged. “The follow-up ends here. What I said earlier, if possible, please seriously consider it.”
Su Huaiwang stood up from the sofa. “Do you need me to help you up?”
“No, no, thank you.”
She was fully aware of her own physical condition.
The restriction placed upon her had only acted because it sensed she was about to reveal the truth; it wouldn’t be fatal.
One of the conditions for her to live here was that a restriction had to be placed on her to prevent her from revealing or hinting at Lin Jue’s identity.
“Are you really okay?”
After that ordeal, Su Huaiwang’s initial slight discomfort had long vanished, leaving only concern.
Lei Yinyin rubbed her nose, feeling a little guilty.
“Really.”
Despite her assurance, Su Huaiwang still walked her to the door and even planned to open it for her.
The moment Su Huaiwang pressed the doorknob down, Lei Yinyin raised her hand, pressing the door shut before it could open.
Su Huaiwang was confused.
Lei Yinyin turned to her, speaking earnestly:
“Actually, all I wanted to say was that choosing a partner is a major life decision. You must be cautious, extremely cautious. Don’t be fooled by some people’s beautiful appearances and lies. They might be gilded on the outside but rotten within…”
She spoke very quickly. Su Huaiwang only caught the gist of it. Before she could react, there was a knock on the door.
The knocking was unhurried and controlled at a level that could be heard by both of them without being too loud.
Lei Yinyin, leaning against the door, suddenly froze.
Su Huaiwang cautiously suggested, “Should we open the door first?”
A vein twitched in Lei Yinyin’s temple. Finally, with another knock, she took a step back and moved her hand.
Seeing the door open, Lin Jue lowered her knocking hand.
Her gaze swept over Su Huaiwang, then casually shifted to Lei Yinyin’s flushed face.
“What, another episode?”
The ghost’s smile carried a threatening connotation.
Lei Yinyin remained silent, saying nothing. She simply gave Su Huaiwang a slight nod and quickly left her house.
Su Huaiwang watched her retreating back, completely bewildered.
“What are you looking at?”
Lin Jue suddenly spoke.
Su Huaiwang snapped out of it, just in time to see the corners of her mouth turned down.
She was a little surprised and opened her mouth but didn’t say anything.
Lin Jue, however, noticed her confusion and spoke up. “I don’t like her.”
Su Huaiwang instinctively asked, “Why…”
“There’s no ‘why,’ I just don’t like her.” Lin Jue shrugged. “In short, she doesn’t like me, and I don’t like her.”
In an instant, Su Huaiwang felt as if a heavy stone had dropped from her heart. She felt relieved, yet subtly guilty.
Before she could fully process her complex emotions, Lin Jue spoke again:
“Aren’t you going to welcome me in?”
The coldness she showed toward Lei Yinyin was completely gone, replaced by a pitiable look that hung in every detail of her face.
Su Huaiwang swallowed what she wanted to say. “…I never said you weren’t welcome.”
“That’s good.”
The moist, red lips curved upward again, and that beautiful face once more glowed with charm.
Su Huaiwang looked at her, feeling dizzy. Her body unconsciously ushered the person into the house.
