Seduced Me into a Deep Fall - Chapter 57
Song Yi carried Ling Xi into the car, unfazed by the question.
It was as if there was nothing left to hide.
Her thoughts were laid bare, waiting only for the right moment to reveal all her feelings to Ling Xi.
“If I didn’t like you, why would I squeeze into bed with you every night?” Song Yi closed the car door and poked Ling Xi’s cheek as she sat in the passenger seat.
“Ow.” Ling Xi flushed slightly at the gesture.
A little over a week was enough for the Song Yi in her memories to be replaced by the one before her.
Ling Xi had also come to understand the thirty-year-old Song Yi better.
This Song Yi was more composed, her tone different from when she had been the long-standing chairwoman gentler, more attentive, and with better stamina.
Her workload wasn’t as heavy, and her hobbies had shifted slightly—now she enjoyed fantasy-themed dramas and novels.
Despite all these changes, Ling Xi still loved Song Yi, transcending timelines, forever devoted to that unique soul.
Song Yi’s core would never change.
A little cold, yet infinitely kind and tender, capable of reciprocating Ling Xi’s fervent love with equal warmth.
So what if some of her preferences had shifted slightly?
It wouldn’t affect Ling Xi’s feelings in the slightest.
“Sweetheart, I’m thirty now. I know the difference between a friend and the person I love. If I let you hold my hand and hug me all the time, what else could it be but love?”
When the car stopped at a red light, Song Yi glanced over to find Ling Xi still grinning foolishly.
“That happy, huh?” Though Ling Xi knew Song Yi well, this version of Song Yi was still somewhat unfamiliar to her.
The two months they had spent together remained vivid.
At the very least, in this timeline, they should have a proper wedding, right?
Song Yi kept stealing glances at Ling Xi from the corner of her eye.
Then she noticed the faint melancholy in Ling Xi’s expression.
It seemed being locked away for so long really had regressed her emotional age.
Ling Xi now resembled a child who had just gotten a new toy and couldn’t wait to show it off to a friend.
She was genuinely serious about marrying her.
Seizing the moment, Song Yi reached over and pinched Ling Xi’s cheek.
“Jiejie, stop teasing me.” Ling Xi swatted her hand away in protest.
Jiang Yuyang nervously clutched Ling Yue’s sleeve.
Ling Yue simply pulled her closer, mimicking Song Yi’s manner, and whispered, “Be good.”
Jiang Yuyang’s neck turned crimson.
This was the first time she had been so intimate with Ling Yue after years of secret longing.
Ling Xi had been right to recommend her as Ling Yue’s fake girlfriend.
From a distance, Qi Zhen watched the four youngsters enjoying themselves, warmth filling her heart.
Once everything was settled, she could finally bring Jing Qiu home.
“Did you have something to say?” Song Yi remained unmoved.
“Pity you’re not interested. Then again, an S-rank born into privilege could never understand the pain of inferior pheromones.” Mu Xunzhi opened the car’s trunk.
Ling Jing Qiu tumbled out.
“Mom!” Ling Xi panicked in the car, yanking at the door handle repeatedly before finally bursting out.
Song Yi’s bodyguards tried to hold her back, but she fought desperately through the crowd to get closer.
Song Yi had no choice but to hold her tightly.
“Jiejie, jiejie… let me go, that’s my mom!”
Watching the commotion, Mu Xunzhi curled her lips into an indifferent smile.
“Enough. There’s no point in tormenting you. What’s truly amusing is watching you get betrayed by those you trusted and beaten down by those who were once beneath you.”
“Take Ling Jingqiu, the traitor, with you. And pray that my daughter’s report doesn’t implicate her.” Mu Xunzhi heard the approaching police sirens.
According to the plan, Mu Jie should have finished speaking by now and provided her location to the authorities.
Mu Xunzhi slowly raised her hands in surrender.
“What else do you know?” Only then was Ling Xi released to help Ling Jingqiu.
After helping Ling Jingqiu up, she glared at Mu Xunzhi with reddened eyes.
“Who knows? Don’t you have the antidote to save her? Wake her up and ask her yourself.” Mu Xunzhi stared back at Ling Xi, her gaze unreadable.
Soon, the two of them would be sitting on a cool mat, sipping tea and fanning themselves, watching their children play together just like before.
Who knows? Maybe their eldest daughter would find a partner soon too.
With the intelligence support, the police didn’t keep them waiting long.
Around 3 a.m., Ling Xi received a call from Tan Nijun.
Ling Yue ended her livestream immediately. Even though late-night was peak traffic time, she couldn’t let personal matters interfere with serious business.
“How did it go?” Ling Xi didn’t put the call on speaker. Her voice was barely above a whisper as she answered.
Song Yi leaned in close—only she could hear the conversation clearly.
Qi Zhen and Ling Yue tensed up, sitting beside Ling Xi, their anxiety palpable.
Jiang Yuyang was still out of the loop.
She had only been brought along by Ling Yue for the livestream tonight.
The signal on Tan Nijun’s end seemed unstable.
Ling Xi couldn’t make out the first two things she said.
“Tan-jie, what are you saying?”
Tan Nijun paused, followed by two minutes of silence.
No matter the timeline, Song Yi’s teasing nature never changed.
“Let’s go home.” Song Yi stayed quiet the whole way, only speaking again once they reached the basement.
Once inside, Ling Xi, her legs aching, tried to cling onto Song Yi.
“Honestly, how old are you, little Ling Xi?” Song Yi scooped her up and carried her to the sofa.
“Hmm… early twenties?” Ling Xi answered earnestly.
She had lost count of how many lifetimes she’d lived. Might as well pick an age at random.
“Alright then, my twenty-year-old baby. Let’s talk about marriage.” Song Yi patted Ling Xi’s head.
Ling Xi sat up straight, suddenly serious—as if she were about to negotiate a business deal.
“I still think we should take things slow. Start with dating first. What do you think?”
Song Yi couldn’t help but laugh at Ling Xi’s solemn expression.
“Explain why you stood me up, and then I’ll date you.” She pulled Ling Xi into her arms.
At first, Ling Xi was confident. Song Yi liked her—she wouldn’t press too hard.
But when Song Yi’s expression shifted for the third time, Ling Xi couldn’t hold back. “What’s wrong, jiejie?”
“Nothing.” Song Yi finally exhaled, then hugged Ling Xi tighter.
“I’m just envious of the me from that timeline.”
To never have endured the experiments of the Tiancan Organization, the desperate escape attempts, the hardships of daily police work…
Just sitting in an office reviewing documents, with the person she loved most by her side.
And managing to trick that little girl into marriage and marking her so quickly.
The more Song Yi thought about it, the more jealous she became.
Her usual composure was on the verge of crumbling.
“Little sweetheart…” Song Yi sounded almost pitiful.
The voice suddenly reminded Ling Xi of Song Yi from the rebirth timeline. “What’s wrong, sister? What are you upset about?”
Song Yi lowered her head, her breath brushing against Ling Xi’s scent gland. “Promise me you’ll like me more.”
“What are you talking about, sister? Of course I like you. You’re my favorite person,” Ling Xi replied, feeling slightly ticklish.
Only then did she remember in this timeline, the medication suppressing her scent gland should already be wearing off. No wonder she felt so sensitive.
“Not that… I mean, compared to that ‘Song Yi,’ you should like me more.” Song Yi’s nature hadn’t changed, only her concerns had multiplied.
She pressed close to Ling Xi, gently kissing her hair, her restless fingers trailing down to her earlobe.
“Once you’ve recovered a bit more, we can also…”
“Tomorrow, you’ll get the divorce certificate with Mu Xie, and the day after, we’ll get married.”
Song Yi’s competitive spirit had been roused by her alternate-timeline self.
“Then I’ll take you to have a grand wedding. I’ll take leave, and we’ll travel the world.”
“When we come back, we’ll have two children.”
“W-wait a minute.” Hearing this, Ling Xi finally sensed something amiss.
“Sister, you’re not jealous of yourself, are you?” Ling Xi was well aware that Song Yi was the jealous type.
“Mhm.” Song Yi admitted it outright. “I am jealous. She had it so easy. No setbacks in her career, no betrayal from family, and her lover reunited with her so quickly. My dear, I found you three years later than she did.”
“That’s over a thousand whole days. Do you know how I lived through those thousand-plus days?”
“But that was still you.” Otherwise, Ling Xi wouldn’t have accepted this Song Yi as her lover so quickly.
“I know.” Song Yi sulked before pinning Ling Xi down on the sofa.
“But our experiences diverged slightly. On the day you were reborn, the world split into two possibilities—one with me, one with her. She had it so good, and she had such a wonderful you. How could I not be jealous?”
Song Yi spoke with such conviction.
Ling Xi listened in a daze.
“But…” Ling Xi still wanted to reason with her.
Song Yi leaned down and caught Ling Xi’s lips between her teeth.
“Now I know why you tried to kiss me the other day,” Song Yi murmured after the kiss, gently licking the spot she’d bitten red.
“I refused you then because I thought we weren’t familiar enough. I thought you didn’t remember me, and your affection felt a little strange. I wanted to take it slow and build our relationship first.”
As if anticipating what was coming, Ling Xi’s heart rate skyrocketed.
Like a speeding car, there was no stopping it now.
Ling Xi clutched the sofa cushion.
“Seems our relationship is already quite deep,” Song Yi said as she slowly undid Ling Xi’s collar.
“My dear, I really regret not continuing to kiss you then.”
The kiss she’d waited so long for had been wasted just because she wanted to take things slow.
“I want to kiss you now. May I request some closeness?”
Song Yi rested her head on Ling Xi’s chest, then pecked her chin.
“I-I… I haven’t washed up yet.” After her rehab exercises, Ling Xi had showered, but she was so nervous now she’d broken out in sweat.
“And I can’t move yet!” Ling Xi couldn’t say she didn’t want to.
She was also curious about what thirty-year-old Song Yi would be like.
“It’s okay.” Song Yi lifted the last piece of Ling Xi’s clothing.
Ling Xi pressed down on the hem of her skirt. “I’m too thin now, all bones. It’s not pretty.”
“It’s fine. I have many scars too, and I never bothered with scar removal surgery.”
Song Yi took Ling Xi’s hand. “Would you stop loving me because of these scars?”
“No…” Ling Xi’s face flushed crimson.
She had thought, at the very least, she should wait until she’d gained some weight, looked prettier, before undressing or turning on the lights.
But Song Yi had gone straight for it.
Ling Xi felt Song Yi was unusually domineering today.
Probably from jealousy.
“Then that’s that. Sweetheart, is this okay?” Song Yi’s fingers lightly traced over a red jelly-like mark.
“Ah…” Ling Xi finally realized something. So today wasn’t about her , “You and the other version of me from that timeline never tried this, did you?”
Song Yi didn’t wait for an answer, sealing Ling Xi’s lips with a kiss.
“Good thing you don’t have much strength right now. This way, you won’t need to exert yourself.”
Before they began, Song Yi whispered into Ling Xi’s ear.
Ling Xi simply wrapped her arms around Song Yi’s neck.
“Big sister…” Her breathing grew heavier.
“Sweetheart, I love you! “Let’s start dating now, then quickly take care of the paperwork and get married.” Song Yi spoke as they reached their peak.
Going deeper inside.
Ling Xi froze, her eyes wide and unblinking.
Then she sniffled, her ears turning so red Song Yi could see it.
Song Yi wiped away some makeup, only then noticing Ling Xi had put on cosmetics.
Looking down, she also saw Ling Xi was wearing a necklace.
Her outfit was lovely too—a floral dress with a cardigan, paired with a denim-blue leather bag, perfectly highlighting her youthful energy and charm.
“Do I look nice?” Ling Xi, noticing Song Yi’s gaze, forgot her earlier embarrassment and asked in a tearful voice, straightening her posture.
“Beautiful.” Song Yi’s eyes curved into crescents. “The dress suits you—so youthful, light, and lively. The necklace is lovely too. White pearls, but they make your skin glow.”
She then brushed Ling Xi’s cheek. “You even put on makeup.”
“Mhm…” Ling Xi, flustered by the praise, tugged at Song Yi’s sleeve and lowered her head.
The two went to sit under their usual tree.
“Did you come here just to see me today?” Song Yi patted Ling Xi’s back soothingly.
After that embrace, the awkwardness between them had faded.
Ling Xi nodded vigorously. “I came specifically for you. But, but I was a day late. Big sister Song, don’t be mad. I’ll make it up to you.”
Song Yi had meant to say she wasn’t angry.
But hearing Ling Xi’s offer, she pretended otherwise.
“I am a little upset.” She squeezed Ling Xi’s hand tightly.
Everything condensed into a single point.
Ling Xi was carried back to the room by Song Yi.
This was truly her first time experiencing such a thing.
Now she understood why Song Yi had reacted so strongly before.
Dazed, Ling Xi fell asleep almost instantly again.
Song Yi arranged the bedding and lay down beside her.
She also took out her phone to schedule their marriage registration.
Of course, the most important thing was making sure Ling Xi finalized her divorce with Mu Jie as soon as possible.
The next morning, Ling Xi woke up, took a moment to process everything, and finally let out a soft “Ah.”
“What’s wrong?” Song Yi pressed close from behind Ling Xi, wrapping her arms around her.
“My marriage with Mu Xie hasn’t been dissolved yet?” She mentioned that she hadn’t reacted to something yesterday and Song Yi had pushed her.
“…Yeah.” Song Yi sighed helplessly.
“Even though I know there’s no love between you two, thinking about it still makes me really upset.”
Song Yi buried her face against Ling Xi’s back, confiding in her.
“If it weren’t for her, if it weren’t for the Tiancan Organization, you wouldn’t have forgotten your promise to me. We could’ve started dating much earlier.”
The fact that Ling Xi had never shown up for their meeting and hadn’t even recognized her had been Song Yi’s deepest regret.
Yesterday, that knot had finally been untied.
But it would still take a long time for the wound to fully heal.
“Yeah. I was coerced into marrying her.”
Ling Xi patted Song Yi’s head. “You’re the only one I’ve ever loved.”
“Mmm…” Song Yi nuzzled against her slightly.
Ling Xi lost her balance and toppled over from the motion.
Song Yi took the opportunity to press against her, like a child listening to the heartbeat of someone dear.
Ling Xi ran her fingers through Song Yi’s hair, soothing her.
“Is she in prison now or what?”
“She’s in prison, sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve. But your marriage wasn’t automatically dissolved just because she was convicted.” Song Yi showed Ling Xi the information on her phone—it was Mu Xie’s court verdict.
“I’ll find you a lawyer. I looked it up—your situation requires filing for divorce.”
Ling Xi listened in a daze. This was something she’d never dealt with in any of her lifetimes, so she could only follow Song Yi’s lead.
Song Yi loved her, wanted to marry her, and would never harm her.
The lawyer met with Ling Xi that very afternoon.
“Mu Xie’s case is an extremely severe criminal offense. I can guarantee that we’ll succeed in filing for divorce on your behalf, Miss Ling.”
After reviewing the documents Song Yi had prepared for Ling Xi, the lawyer made his judgment swiftly.
Mu Xie’s crimes had made national headlines—almost everyone in the country knew about them.
If the court still refused to grant the divorce, it would be outright unjust.
Besides, Song Yi’s documents included evidence of Ling Xi being illegally confined and abused by her spouse.
Hearing this, Ling Xi felt reassured.
On the day she finally completed her rehabilitation and could walk freely without crutches or a wheelchair, the divorce lawsuit went to trial.
Mu Xie was escorted into court by several prison guards.
When she saw Song Yi standing beside Ling Xi, her eyes turned venomous, and she lunged at Song Yi like a rabid horse that had slipped its reins.
The guards, of course, didn’t let her succeed, restraining her firmly in her seat with multiple layers of security.
“Behave! Haven’t you done enough harm to innocent people? How could you treat your own wife so viciously? If it weren’t mandatory for you to appear in court, do you think you’d ever see daylight again?” One of the guards berated her outright.
Ling Xi overheard the exchange and exchanged a glance with Song Yi.
Mu Xie’s fate in both timelines was more or less the same.
The only difference was that in the timeline where Ling Xi had been reborn, Mu Xie had only been sentenced to a few years.
Ling Xi had no interest in witnessing Mu Xie’s downfall.
She just wanted to finalize the divorce as soon as possible so she could marry Song Yi.
The divorce case was straightforward and resolved quickly.
Only when she held the divorce certificate in her hands did Ling Xi finally feel at ease.
Outside the courthouse, Ling Xi threw herself joyfully into Song Yi’s arms.
“When can we get our marriage license?”
Song Yi held her close, her lips curling into a faint, imperceptible smile as she watched the guards escort Mu Xie back to prison from the corner of her eye.
“I’ve calculated that tomorrow at 1 PM is an auspicious time. We’ll register our marriage then.”
“Great, great. I can’t wait.”
Seeing Ling Xi able to run and jump again, Song Yi felt much more at ease.
Now, the only task left was to nurse Ling Xi back to her previous condition.
After all, according to the hospital’s earlier test results, Ling Xi’s body was practically riddled with injuries.
The thought made Song Yi wish she could personally execute Mu Xie.
That evening at home, Ling Xi sidled up to Song Yi, insisting on cooking together.
“You know how to cook?” Song Yi was surprised by how skilled Ling Xi’s movements were.
“Of course. Mom and Mama were always busy with work, so my sister and I used to handle the meals.”
“Speaking of which?” The two spoke in unison when Ling Xi’s family came up.
“Let me go first,” Song Yi said, taking the sliced potatoes from Ling Xi and continuing the conversation.
“I’ve asked someone to look for Lingyue overseas. The Tiancan Organization has been captured, so there might be a chance to overturn your Mama Qi Zhen’s case.”
“You’re always so thoughtful,” Ling Xi said, hugging Song Yi tightly.
“You’ve already taken care of everything before I could even ask. How can I ever repay you?”
“Maybe I still have muscle memory?” She even wiggled her fingers teasingly.
Song Yi swatted her mischievous sweetheart lightly.
When they finally found Lingyue, she had already climbed to the position of vice president at a local company.
Over the video call, seeing her sister’s gaunt and unrecognizable face, Lingyue was heartbroken.
“It’s okay, sis. If you get the chance, come back home. The Tiancan Organization has been taken down. We’ll need your help to provide some evidence to clear Mama’s name.”
Ling Xi marveled at Lingyue on the screen.
She’d already made it to an executive position so all that worry had been for nothing.
Lingyue even gave Ling Xi a virtual tour of her office.
“I’ll try to return as soon as possible. But a transfer isn’t that simple it might take another six months.”
“That’s fine. As long as you’re safe, that’s what matters. Just make sure you’re back before my wedding.”
“Sure—wait, what?” Lingyue snapped to attention.
“You’re getting married? Didn’t you just divorce that scumbag?!” She nearly jumped out of her seat.
“I’m coming back tomorrow. Ling Xiaoxi, you’d better have a good explanation ready.”
“No, sis, listen!” Before Ling Xi could finish, Lingyue hung up and started packing.
“…” Ling Xistared blankly at the phone before looking up.
“Song-jie… I think I messed up…”
Having overheard the whole conversation, Song Yi was also sweating. “Is your sister scary?”
“Not really, but if she’s this worked up, she’ll definitely interrogate me over and over, not believe a word I say, and then come after you.” Ling Xi had a strange sense of déjà vu.
In any case, her relationship with Song Yi had begun reasonably enough, and they had history.
As for the tangled timelines in her memories, Ling Xi decided not to burden her family with them.
Just seeing them safe was enough.
The next evening, Ling Xi and Song Yi waited at the airport for a furious Lingyue.
“Who is she? What does she do? How did you meet?” The moment she saw Ling Xi, Lingyue pulled her aside, separating her from Song Yi.
“Sis! Stop dragging me around, I’m 25!” Ling Xi broke free and quickly hid behind Song Yi.
She didn’t have the strength to wrestle with Lingyue right now.
“This is Officer Song, the one who rescued me.”
Ling Yue’s gaze toward Song Yi instantly changed. “So, it’s Miss Song, what an honor to meet you. Thank you for saving my younger sister.”
Ling Xi secretly watched Ling Yue’s sudden change in expression and nearly burst out laughing.
“Nothing, it’s my duty.” Song Yi paused, then opened the car door and gestured for Ling Yue to enter with a polite “after you.”
Ling Yue had initially wanted to say she could drive, but her domestic driver’s license had expired, leaving her no choice but to trouble Song Yi.
“Your spouse actually didn’t come with you to pick me up? I’ll settle this with you when we get home,” Ling Yue whispered to Ling Xi after they set off.
Ling Xi nearly lost her composure.
Though Song Yi was indeed Officer Song who had saved her.
But couldn’t Ling Yue tell something was off between them?
Since when did officers who rescued people follow them to meet family members?
But since Ling Yue already believed it and thought Song Yi and her wife were two different people, Ling Xi decided to play this joke all the way through.
