Seduced Me into a Deep Fall - Chapter 29.1
“Sister Song.” Ling Xi initially thought she might have addressed her incorrectly.
But Song Yi called her “little darling.”
Ling Xi tentatively tried the term, watching Song Yi’s gentle expression before growing more confident. “Song .”
“Good girl.” Song Yi couldn’t help the ripple of warmth in her heart.
“You can call me that from now on.” She stood up, glanced around, then headed toward Ling Xi’s bathroom to find a towel.
Ling Xi reached it first, blushing as she draped the towel over Song Yi’s shoulders.
“You’ve seen me so many times already, yet you’re still shy?” Song Yi teased.
“It’s different!” Ling Xi turned away, but her wandering gaze kept flickering back to Song Yi unintentionally.
Only now did she realize just how much she had overstepped.
“Does it hurt?” Once Song Yi had tied her robe, Ling Xi finally allowed herself to look properly.
The marks she had left behind were a mess, and guilt prickled at her.
She didn’t know how Song Yi could forgive her for it.
Those vivid red streaks looked painful.
“It’s fine.” Song Yi studied Ling Xi’s oblivious expression, then pinched her shoulder lightly.
Leaving behind a similarly suggestive crescent mark.
“About like this.”
The slight sting made Ling Xi flinch before she hurriedly went to put on more clothes.
Song Yi surveyed Ling Xi’s bathroom.
No extra toiletries. She’d have to return to her own room to wash up.
“I’m heading back first. See you soon.” At the door, Song Yi glanced back at Ling Xi, who had followed her.
“Little darling.” She winked discreetly before closing the door.
Once alone, Ling Xi covered her face with her hands.
She really, really liked Song Yi.
Every word, every gesture from her made Ling Xi’s heart race and her temperature rise.
She had to switch to cold water when washing her face.
Just to cool down and calm her overexcited heart.
“Sister Song .” Freshly washed up, Ling Xi happened to see Song Yi step out of her room at the same time, and they went downstairs together for breakfast.
Song Yi stayed close to Ling Xi just to hear her call her “Sister.”
Ling Xi would never know how many times Song Yi had opened and closed her door to engineer this “coincidence.”
“She is Ling Xi’s biological older sister. But she was also the first S-rank alpha to participate in that experiment.”
Song Yi knew what Yun Fengzhi was referring to.
“I only found a little more. Their alpha mother used to work at a biotech company. Later, she was imprisoned circumstances unclear. I can pull the records if you need.”
“But don’t you think it’s strange? The sister is S-rank, the mother was A-rank, the other mother had unstable pheromones but was at least upper A-rank at her worst. Do you know Ling Xi’s rank? Only B. Even her college entrance exam records listed her as ‘inferior.'”
Though the four-tier classification (inferior, average, superior, supreme) had been legally prohibited from being disclosed decades ago after discrimination scandals.
Now, with medical advancements and transparency, anyone could find out another’s exact pheromone level if they tried.
“I don’t know her rank.” That was all Song Yi said in response.
She opened the compressed file.
The version provided by her subordinates was quite detailed, yet it still didn’t explain why Qi Zhen, the alpha mother of Ling Xi and Ling Yue, had been imprisoned.
There wasn’t much about Ling Yue either, only that she had changed jobs and was later assigned by her new company to work in Africa.
As for Ling Jingqiu, who had become comatose, the plane crash was naturally classified as an accident.
Song Yi read through the materials several times and eventually identified a few suspicious points.
She needed to know why Ling Jingqiu had boarded that plane, who had been with her, and their identities. She also needed details about Ling Yue’s new company.
As for Qi Zhen’s case, she would probably have to ask Yun Fengzhi to help her retrieve the court records.
Ling Xi really?
Just looking at these three “accidents” was enough to make Song Yi feel deeply unsettled.
As they descended the stairs, Ling Xi noticed Song Yi’s unsteady footing and steadied her.
“Sister Song, lean on me.” After all, it was her own fault from last night, she had to take responsibility.
“Can you just call me ‘sister’?” Adding “Song” made it feel a bit distant.
Ling Xi shook her head. “But I already have an older sister.”
Calling her just “sister” would always make Ling Xi think of Ling Yue.
“I see!” Song Yi couldn’t insist.
Fortunately, things with Ling Yue were progressing smoothly.
In a couple of days, Ling Xi would likely discover the surprise she had prepared.
“Have I never told you about her?”
Ling Xi didn’t realize that, over the course of those two minutes on the stairs, she had gone from supporting Song Yi to being pressed so close that she had no choice but to wrap her arms around her.
“Mhm.” Song Yi was so comfortable leaning against her that she didn’t even want to sit at the dining table.
“Then I’ll tell you about her, but you have to tell me about your family too.”
Ling Xi still let go of Song Yi but only after carefully seating her at the table.
She was treating her like a child.
“The Song family is too big. From birth, I was predicted to develop into an S-rank, so I was chosen as the heir. I didn’t grow up in the same environment as my sister. In a year, I saw her no more than twice.”
Only then did Ling Xi remember that Mu Xie was Song Yi’s niece of course she had siblings.
“That’s such a shame.” It was rare for sisters to be so estranged, and Ling Xi couldn’t help but feel sorry for Song Yi.
“It’s not a big deal. We weren’t close. Later, when she ran away from home, I tried to talk her out of it, but she seemed to hate me intensely.” Thinking of this sister, Song Yi felt nothing but unfamiliarity.
“Then one day, she returned to the Song family with a three- or four-year-old child. All I know is that she had a huge fight with our mother and grandmother before leaving again. You already know that child was Mu Xie.”
Song Yi paused and looked at Ling Xi, who was eating tangyuan. “Do you think Mu Xie and I look alike?”
Ling Xi fell silent. She swallowed the last bite, set down her spoon, and shook her head.
“Not in looks, and not in personality either.” Ling Xi analyzed it seriously.
“You’re much prettier. Her features are a bit off, her almond eyes look like they were pasted on. Even her aura feels wrong. I always thought there was something strange about her. Later, I realized her gentle appearance was all an act.”
Song Yi couldn’t help but laugh at the praise.
“Then you have excellent taste.”
The crisp fragrance of snow-capped mountains and clear streams entwined with her.
Song Yi gripped Ling Xi’s shoulders as Ling Xi kissed and bit her relentlessly.
It was extravagant, as if she didn’t know the meaning of restraint.
“Do you still like it?” Ling Xi had the nerve to ask.
“I never got the chance to ask how you felt before.”
Her tone was soft and obedient.
Song Yi blinked, wanting to give her an answer.
But when she opened her mouth, tears fell first, sliding down to the Buddhist prayer beads resting against her chest.
Ling Xi closed her eyes and kissed away the moisture on the wooden beads.
“I’ll carry you back to the room,” Ling Xi said, looking down at Song Yi, whose eyes were still red. Unable to resist, she lowered her head and gently bumped their noses together.
Song Yi hooked her arms around Ling Xi’s neck. “You still have the strength?”
Her voice was still a little hoarse.
Ling Xi laughed at her self-praise. “You’re really amazing, she couldn’t compare to even one percent of you.”
“Such high praise?” Song Yi raised an eyebrow.
Could Ling Xi actually like her a little?
Ling Xi nodded slightly, suddenly a bit shy.
“What else?” she asked after taking a bite of steamed cake, then turned her gaze back to Song Yi.
Her eyes shimmered with anticipation.
Song Yi didn’t want to refuse but couldn’t resist teasing her.
“You talked about your sister, and I talked about mine. As for other family members let’s save that for next time.”
“Oh!” Ling Xi pouted, momentarily disappointed.
But she quickly perked up. A fair exchange, after all.
Once there was progress with her mother’s situation, she could tell Song Yi then.
At the very least, Yun Danhui had promised to help find her sister.
Maybe in a few days, she’d have news.
Everyone’s pheromone levels were extremely high.
Even with connections and influence, it was nearly impossible to get close to those deranged “Heaven’s Defects.”
After listening, Ling Xi had only one doubt.
“But Mu Xie, isn’t a Heaven’s Defect.” She had even been overwhelmed by Mu Xie’s pheromones before.
In her past life, for those few years, she had been surrounded by Mu Xie’s minty pheromones every few days.
An entire room would be saturated with the scent Mu Xie deliberately left behind, hoping Ling Xi would grow to like her through exposure.
“I remember her medical report, she was also an A-rank,” Song Yi said, finding this detail the most suspicious.
Not only was it impossible for the serum to elevate a Heaven’s Defect’s pheromones to A-rank, but it also couldn’t fool the First Hospital’s equipment.
Ling Xi fell silent, still trying to recall details from her past life.
After thinking for a while, she realized those years had been so traumatic, filled with constant stress, that she could only remember the awful things Mu Xie had done to her.
The only reason she remembered the Gamma serum was because Yun Danhui had mentioned it when they met in her past life.
“It’s okay, you’ve already helped us a lot,” Song Yi reassured, gently stroking Ling Xi’s head.
It was also a relief Ling Xi didn’t know more clearly, she hadn’t endured worse.
Otherwise, Song Yi’s heart would ache unbearably.
Ling Xi gave her a small smile.
“By the way, Sister Song, I can’t have dinner with you tonight. A friend invited me out.”
Before parting after their meal, Ling Xi lingered by Song Yi’s side, reluctant to leave.
“Then, would you mind having lunch with me instead? I’ll send a driver to pick you up,” Song Yi suggested, testing the waters for a date.
“At your office?” Ling Xi considered that her interviews would likely be done by noon.
But the thought of going to Song Yi’s office made her nervous.
She had no idea how Song Yi’s employees would see her.
“If you don’t want the company cafeteria, we can eat somewhere nearby,” Song Yi said, her gaze fixed on Ling Xi.
Ling Xi felt ensnared by that look, drowning in the depths of her eyes, breathless and unable to resist.
“What do you say, sweetheart? I’ll pick the restaurant.” As for the office building, there would be time for that later.
“Okay.” Ling Xi’s ears turned red.
“I might not be home. I have an interview, so I’ll message you later.” Ling Xi lowered her head, speaking softly.
“Alright. Good luck with your interview.”
“I will. Hope everything goes smoothly for you too.” Ling Xi thought this was the perfect moment to give Song Yi a hug.
But she didn’t dare, afraid she’d cling to Song Yi and refuse to let go. Instead, she took a step back and waved.
Only after Song Yi left did she allow herself to relax.
She didn’t dare speculate too much, nor did she dare assume with too much confidence that Ling Xi actually liked her.
But Ling Xi’s attitude, all those little details, made it impossible not to wonder.
Her mind was filled with sweetness, the lingering taste of snow-melt tea.
Song Yi felt like she was floating.
This state lasted until she arrived at the office.
When her secretary came in to report, she was shocked to discover several ambiguous marks on Song Yi’s neck.
Unable to help herself, the secretary stole a few extra glances before quickly averting her gaze.
Song Yi noticed her reaction and, after a thoughtful pause, deliberately tugged at her collar.
The secretary was nearly blinded by the blatant display of affection.
They were going to have a Chairman’s wife soon!!!
After leaving the office, the secretary opened her notes app and screamed internally for several hundred words.
After all, this was Song Yi’s private matter, she couldn’t breathe a word to anyone.
Once the secretary left, Song Yi received a message from Shi Xinyu.
One was a sample design for a custom dress, the other the fifth draft of a ring design.
[The flowers could be a little bigger.] After scrutinizing it, Song Yi offered her revision.
Shi Xinyu sent back an eye roll. [So picky. I’m about to interview that person who used to draw you all the time.]
That finally caught Song Yi’s attention.
[What does she look like?] Was it Ling Xi?
Ling Xi arrived at the office building at the scheduled time.
Located in the heart of the city, the towering thirty-plus-story building was prime real estate, with only three floors occupied by the company she was interviewing with.
With just three elevators, Ling Xi had to wait a full fifteen minutes before she could go up.
Luckily, she’d left early and wasn’t late.
“Hello, I received an invitation from your general manager, Ms. Shi, for an interview.”
Ling Xi entered the office area and spoke to the person sitting at the front desk, scrolling on their phone.
Shi Xinyu looked up, expecting to see some disheveled, unkempt otaku.
Instead, the person before her was dressed neatly, with harmonious colors and clean lines, her features striking peach-blossom eyes bright and lively, with a hint of innocent charm.
“I’m Shi Xinyu.” She now had ten thousand exclamation points to send to Song Yi.
“General Manager Shi, hello.”
“Come in first.” Shi Xinyu could only message Song Yi while walking.
[She’s so pretty! Peach-blossom eyes, willow-leaf brows, great bone structure seems like a little alpha. I love her. She’d be perfect as the model for my winter collection. She’d be a hit for sure!]
Reading Shi Xinyu’s description, Song Yi pictured Ling Xi in her mind.
