Chapter 99: Having escaped a calamity, Qiao Xi was still…
Having escaped a calamity, Qiao Xi was still shaken, so she dared not take out her phone to chat with Shen Ya during the meal. At the dinner table, she acted like a perfect little sister, not only resolving her emotional knot with her sisters but also consolidating their sisterly bond.
As the dinner drew to a close, Jiang Yunxi asked if she was returning home with them tonight, but Qiao Xi found an excuse: “I haven’t been back for a few days, and I want to stay and keep Mom and Mommy company. Besides, I plan to meet the Fang family in a few days, and I’m afraid Mom and Mommy might feel sad, so I’ll stay here until school starts.”
Since Qiao Xi used her mothers as an excuse, Jiang Yunxi and Qin Shuyuan naturally couldn’t refuse, and the reason Qiao Xi gave was valid. Jiang Yunxi nodded and said: “That’s good. Spend more time with them these few days.”
“I know.”
Qin Shuyuan also wanted to stay, but Jiang Yunxi pulled her aside to whisper a few words. Jiang Yunxi had her back to Qiao Xi, so Qiao Xi couldn’t see what they were saying.
When they returned, Qin Shuyuan didn’t mention staying anymore.
The family of five arrived at the parking lot. Jiang Yunxi and Qin Shuyuan got into their own car and left first. Qiao Xi, on the other hand, opened the door to her mothers’ car and got into the back seat.
Now she could finally take out her phone to contact Shen Ya. Qiao Xi quickly typed a few words: [I just finished dinner and am on my way back to my mothers’ house. What is Teacher Shen doing?]
[Teacher Shen: Eating dinner at Blank.]
[Teacher Shen went to Blank? Did Boss Fang say anything?]
[Shen Ya: She didn’t say anything. I’ll sit a bit longer and then go home. If you’re tired, don’t wait for my video call. You should shower and go to sleep first.]
[Okay, then Teacher Shen, you continue chatting with Boss Fang. Tell me when you get home.]
After Qiao Xi returned home and finished showering, she received a message from Shen Ya. Five minutes ago, Shen Ya had left Blank. To avoid distracting Shen Ya while driving, Qiao Xi held back from sending any messages.
She sat on the bed, holding her phone, checking various apps. She even opened a game and played two rounds. When a message popped up on the screen, Qiao Xi decisively clicked on it, abandoning the game she was playing.
[Teacher Shen: I’m home. Are you asleep?]
[Not yet.]
[Teacher Shen: It’s very late. Aren’t you sleeping?]
Looking at the message, Qiao Xi’s fingers hovered over the screen. Was Shen Ya telling her this because she was too tired and afraid she wouldn’t have the energy to chat?
Or did Shen Ya actually mean nothing by it and just wanted to ask if she wanted to sleep now?
Qiao Xi checked the time; it was almost past midnight. Shen Ya had to work tomorrow. Should she continue to bother her?
A bold thought flashed through Qiao Xi’s mind. She typed a few words and sent: [I’m going to sleep. Teacher Shen, you should also rest early. Let’s chat tomorrow.]
[Teacher Shen: Okay, good night.]
[Good night, Teacher Shen.]
Qiao Xi turned off her phone. She threw back the covers and rushed into the walk-in closet, randomly grabbing a set of clothes to change into. She grabbed her satchel from the small study and slung it over her shoulder, then picked up her phone and gently twisted the bedroom doorknob.
The house was quiet. After leaving the bedroom, she carefully closed the door.
Qiao Xi tiptoed downstairs like a thief. Only a small nightlight illuminated the living room where Pangpang slept. Hearing the movement, Pangpang, who had been lying on the floor, suddenly lifted its head. It watched Qiao Xi with its tongue out, ready to get up at any moment.
“Shh!” Qiao Xi put her index finger to her lips, making a shushing gesture. Only then did Pangpang not get up and run towards her.
Afraid of startling her two mothers upstairs, Qiao Xi didn’t linger. Under Pangpang’s confused gaze, she sneaked out of the house.
The garden had ground lights on. This was her mothers’ habit, and thankfully, with this weak light, Qiao Xi’s escape from the house was smooth.
This was her first time doing something so daring. Even after putting some distance between herself and the house, her heart was still pounding rapidly.
The community was secluded, and many areas were pitch black, as if opening a door to another world. Qiao Xi tightened her clothes and jogged towards the main gate of the community.
However, she was lucky. Halfway there, she encountered the property management’s shuttle bus for residents. She took the shuttle to the community entrance. The driver, a young woman, even told her: “Next time, you can call us in the resident group chat.”
Qiao Xi nodded and said: “Okay.” Then she politely added: “Thank you.”
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to call, but she hadn’t joined the resident group chat at all. Besides, the shuttle bus made a lot of noise, and stopping at her doorstep would definitely alert her mothers.
There were few people out late at night. She immediately spotted the ride-hailing vehicle parked at the community gate. The black sedan was clean and tidy. The driver was a woman wearing white gloves and sporting neat short hair, looking quite professional.
The car only had the radio playing. The overly comfortable environment could easily lead to drowsiness, but Qiao Xi was wide awake. She had lied to Shen Ya about going to sleep. She wondered what the other person’s reaction would be when she showed up at her doorstep.
The night was late, and the dew was heavy.
There was hardly any traffic at this time, so the journey was smooth. She arrived at her own apartment faster than usual.
The car stopped at the community entrance. Qiao Xi got out of the car and walked into the community. Seeing her building from afar, she looked up and counted the floors. Seeing that her living room light was off, she guessed, Did I arrive too late? Has Shen Ya already gone to sleep?
If she was asleep, wouldn’t she wake her up now?
But since she was already here, she could only go up and make less noise when opening the door.
The elevator door opened. Qiao Xi arrived at her door. After unlocking it with her fingerprint, she slowly pushed the door open. The living room was dark and quiet. Changing her shoes in the dark, she tiptoed inside. Suddenly, she saw two glowing lights approaching her in the darkness.
Qiao Xi was momentarily startled. She paused, and before she could even pat her chest, she felt something rubbing against her calf.
“Meow~”
Qiao Xi rubbed her forehead: “You scared me, Shi Yi.” She bent down and stroked Shi Yi, then said: “Go play.”
Shi Yi sat still, seemingly staring at her. Qiao Xi didn’t look back. She approached the bedroom door and first pressed her ear against it. Hearing no movement, she became more certain that Shen Ya was asleep.
She pressed down the doorknob. A trace of warm yellow light filtered out from the originally dark space. It was the moon-shaped nightlight Shen Ya had bought. Shen Ya only turned the nightlight on when she was awake. It seemed the other person wasn’t asleep. Qiao Xi finally felt relieved.
Qiao Xi was still planning to give Shen Ya a surprise. She thought the other person would definitely look surprised when she saw her. She had already planned to jump over and hug and kiss Shen Ya the moment they met.
She took two steps, and a shadow appeared in her sight. Qiao Xi instantly became alert, but before she could say “Teacher Shen,” she saw the leather black collar in Shen Ya’s hand.
Qiao Xi did see Shen Ya’s surprised expression, but the surprise only lasted for a second. In contrast, her stunned expression was what made Shen Ya laugh.
In the short time Qiao Xi was frozen, Shen Ya approached her, holding the collar. Qiao Xi’s pupils were completely occupied by Shen Ya. The familiar scent brought back her senses, and the moment her vision focused, the collar, which Shen Ya had been holding and playing with, was placed around her neck.
“It really suits you.”
Shen Ya’s index finger was still resting on the leather collar. She rubbed it back and forth with her thumb, then tested the tightness, making sure it wasn’t strangling Qiao Xi’s neck, before gently flicking the small golden bell at the front.
A crisp ringing sound echoed. The restless feeling in Qiao Xi’s body also seemed to be aroused by Shen Ya’s actions. She dared not look at the currently radiant Shen Ya, so she slightly lowered her head, her gaze darting left and right: “Wha-what is this?”
“Isn’t it already around Xiao Xi’s neck?” Shen Ya flicked the small bell again: “A collar. Fang Moyao gave it to me. There’s also a card inside, saying it was specially made for you. Your name and my name’s initials are engraved inside the collar.”
“A co-collar?” Qiao Xi’s mind froze. She pointed to her own neck: “Why would she send Teacher Shen a collar?”
This was the question Shen Ya had been pondering ever since she opened the gift, but before she could figure it out, she received the surprise Qiao Xi brought her.
Shen Ya shook her head, her fingernail tracing Qiao Xi’s chin, then following the jawline to her ear and gently pinching it: “Didn’t you say you were going to sleep? And you even wished me good night. Little liar, lying again.”
“I wanted to give Teacher Shen a surprise.”
“Is that so?” Shen Ya pinched Qiao Xi’s earlobe, applying a little force.
“Fine.” Qiao Xi’s voice suddenly became aggrieved. She raised her eyes upward, stretching out her hand to pull Shen Ya’s sleeve: “Actually, I just missed Teacher Shen.”
Shen Ya wasn’t fooled by Qiao Xi’s sweet talk. She spoke with an almost certain tone: “You didn’t tell your mother you were coming out at this hour, did you?”
“This…” Qiao Xi averted her gaze. Guilt was practically etched on her face.
“Oh, you…” Shen Ya poked Qiao Xi’s nose: “I’ll send a message to your mother. I wonder if your two mothers are asleep.”
“No need. Anyway, the mothers don’t know. When they find out, they’ll surely guess that I came to find you.”
Shen Ya shot her a glance but still decided to text Qiao Xi’s mother. She turned and walked back to the bed, took out her phone from the bedside table, composed a message, and pressed send.
Qiao Xi followed behind Shen Ya, but the bell around her neck kept ringing with her every movement. This sound embarrassed Qiao Xi. She touched the collar, intending to take it off. Shen Ya seemed to have eyes in the back of her head. The moment Qiao Xi moved, Shen Ya turned back and commanded in a low voice: “Don’t take it off.”
This assertive tone instantly reminded Qiao Xi of the time Shen Ya held her hand and taught her last night. Her face was hot. Last night, she was the one teasing Shen Ya, yet Shen Ya controlled the entire rhythm.
“Teacher Shen…”
Shen Ya waited a while but didn’t receive a reply from Qiao Xi’s mother. She guessed that both elders were asleep. Only then did she put her phone down and face Qiao Xi.
She was admiring how Qiao Xi looked wearing the collar. The collar was very thin, more like a decorative piece, but she suspected Fang Moyao, in her irritation, added a small gold bell in the middle.
“It’s very cute.”
Qiao Xi couldn’t see herself, so she didn’t know if Shen Ya’s “cute” was genuine or meant to tease her. She didn’t mind wearing this item. To be precise, if wearing this collar made Shen Ya smile, she could wear it all the time.
To Qiao Xi, this collar was more like an interesting ornament, perhaps even classified as a small toy to enhance intimacy between couples. But being stared at and teased by Shen Ya made her feel equally embarrassed.
Qiao Xi remained silent because she suspected that whatever she said would probably be laughed at by Shen Ya. She decided to close her mouth, lower her head, and feign pitifulness, hoping to gain some of Shen Ya’s sympathy.
“Have you showered?” Shen Ya raised one hand to cup Qiao Xi’s face, forcing Qiao Xi to look up at her.
“Yes.” Qiao Xi’s gaze had just met Shen Ya’s when she immediately shyly looked away, but her head was still tilted up. No matter where she looked, Shen Ya could firmly lock her gaze on her.
Shen Ya let go of Qiao Xi’s face, then pinched the zipper of Qiao Xi’s jacket and pulled it down. Shen Ya took off the jacket, grabbed one of Qiao Xi’s hands, and led her to the hanger, carrying Qiao Xi’s clothes.
The short jacket was hung next to Shen Ya’s coat. Although the temperature had slightly risen in the past two days, it was still cold. Yet Qiao Xi was only wearing two layers. The little sun was young; even wearing so little, she felt warm to the touch.
Shen Ya pinched the hem of Qiao Xi’s top, intending to pull it up, but Qiao Xi tensed up. Although nervous, she remained obedient and didn’t resist. Shen Ya smiled inwardly but eventually released her hand: “It’s late. Take off your clothes and get into bed to sleep. I’m going to get something.”
Watching Shen Ya turn around and leave, Qiao Xi felt a sigh of relief mixed with a strange disappointment. She thought Shen Ya was going to do something to her, but in the end, she just told her to sleep?
But should she take off this collar or not?
Qiao Xi couldn’t decide, but remembering Shen Ya’s earlier reprimand, she decided not to take it off for now.
Qiao Xi didn’t know what Shen Ya was going to get, and she didn’t dare to delay. Although she had already had intimate contact with Shen Ya, the thought of taking off her clothes in front of her made her feel too embarrassed to face anyone.
Qiao Xi quickly stripped herself naked. She was about to look for her pajamas, but she couldn’t find them anywhere. Did Shen Ya throw her pajamas into the laundry basket yesterday?
Then she was really done for. The direction Shen Ya left in seemed to be the walk-in closet. Going there naked now would look strange.
Qiao Xi shook her head. Forget it. If she wasn’t wearing anything, she wasn’t wearing anything. It wasn’t the first time she slept with Shen Ya without clothes.
Mentally prepared, Qiao Xi quickly went to the bed. She took off her slippers and swiftly pulled the quilt over herself, completely covering herself.
When Shen Ya returned, she only saw Qiao Xi’s head poking out, staring at her curiously. When Qiao Xi saw what was in her hand, her whole head seemed to be steaming. Before Shen Ya could get back to the bed, Qiao Xi had already shrunk her head under the quilt.
Shen Ya wasn’t naturally an active person, but Qiao Xi was younger than her, and perhaps more proactive and daring in love. However, when it came to more intimate matters, Qiao Xi would become especially shy, revealing a naive and inexperienced side.
This allowed Shen Ya to experience a different kind of pleasure, making her more proactive and passionate in matters of love.
She climbed onto the other side of the bed, her slightly cool hand gripping the quilt and flipping it open hard. Qiao Xi was curled up, hugging herself. Seeing Shen Ya’s smiling face, her body trembled slightly.
Shen Ya chuckled. Qiao Xi’s reaction made her feel like a gangster. She stroked Qiao Xi’s face, her thumb rubbing the tender skin: “Xiao Xi, how about Teacher Shen continues to teach you how to use the other items today? How does that sound?”
