Chapter 85: The first day of work after the New Year…
The first day of work after the New Year, there wasn’t much work, and not all the students had returned. In class today, she merely handed out test papers for the students to take, wanting to see if they had diligently reviewed during the short holiday.
After class in the afternoon, she was temporarily held back for a small meeting. The attendees were few, so she couldn’t slack off. It wasn’t until the meeting was over and she returned to her office that she saw a message from Fang Moyao.
[Xiao Xi is here with me.]
The message was sent half an hour ago. She immediately called Fang Moyao. The other person answered quickly, seemingly knowing what she was going to ask. So, when Shen Ya opened her mouth, Fang Moyao had already told her: “Xiao Xi is still here. Are you coming over, or should I take her home later?”
“I’m coming over now. I was already planning to pick her up for dinner.” Shen Ya tucked the phone between her neck and shoulder, quickly tidying up her desk.
Fang Moyao stared at Qiao Xi, who was practically slumped over the bar not far away. She let out a short chuckle: “I’m afraid you won’t be able to take her out to dinner today.”
“What’s wrong with her?”
Fang Moyao spoke in riddles: “You’ll know when you get here.”
The call ended. Shen Ya tucked her phone into her coat pocket. With her desk tidy, she grabbed her bag from the chair and quickly left the office.
It was rush hour. She was stuck in traffic for over ten minutes after leaving work. The winter sky darkened quickly. While waiting at a traffic light, she sent a message to Qiao Xi. Unfortunately, Qiao Xi hadn’t replied by the time she parked in the lot outside ‘Blank’.
When Shen Ya got out of the car, the sky had already pulled on a black curtain. There were still no stars today, but the moon peeked out from behind a corner of the dark clouds.
Walking into ‘Blank’, even without deliberately searching, she spotted Qiao Xi right away. The other person had taken off her jacket and was wearing only a white shirt. Her upper body was completely draped over the marble countertop, but her right hand was still holding a wine glass, ready to pour the drink into her mouth.
“Oh, my little ancestor, stop drinking!” Zhou Ziqian didn’t expect Qiao Xi to become so difficult when drunk this time. She was so well-behaved last time; why was she so troublesome today?
Fang Moyao stood behind Qiao Xi, trying to take the wine glass from her hand, but Qiao Xi suddenly straightened up, bumping directly into Fang Moyao’s chin. It had been a long time since Fang Moyao had felt such pain. She inhaled sharply, struggling to maintain her usual composure.
Seeing Fang Moyao stumble back two steps, Zhou Ziqian quickly rushed to support her: “Your sister actually gets drunk and acts out. Wonder who she takes after.”
Fang Moyao rubbed the bumped spot, her peripheral vision catching Shen Ya as she approached. She seemed relieved: “That’s enough. Shen Ya is here; let her handle it herself.”
Only then did Zhou Ziqian notice Shen Ya. She didn’t bother greeting Shen Ya and was instead tense and worried, her eyes full of Fang Moyao: “Let’s go, let the young couple figure things out themselves. Hurry, let me see if it’s bruised. I remember there’s swelling medicine upstairs. We can go to the hospital if necessary.”
“I’m fine,” Fang Moyao whispered to Zhou Ziqian: “Carry me up.”
Zhou Ziqian picked up Fang Moyao without a second thought. As they passed Shen Ya, Fang Moyao gave her a slight nod: “If you’re hungry, ask Mumu to make you something to eat. Your room has been cleaned; feel free to stay.”
“Thank you, but how much did she drink?”
While they were talking, Qiao Xi had slumped back onto the stool. Her cheeks were flushed like she had smeared rouge on them, and she was swaying, looking like she might fall off the stool any second.
“That’s the third glass.” After Fang Moyao said this, Zhou Ziqian hurriedly carried her away.
Shen Ya took two steps forward to support Qiao Xi. She hung her bag on her shoulder and tried to take the wine glass from Qiao Xi’s hand, but Qiao Xi resisted. She hugged the glass to her chest, shaking her head and mumbling: “No snatching.”
“Xiao Xi, you’re drunk.” Shen Ya placed her palm on Qiao Xi’s head and gently stroked it. Qiao Xi slowly tilted her head up to look at her. Qiao Xi loosened her grip on the glass slightly, allowing Shen Ya to slip her hand in and retrieve the cup.
This time, it was surprisingly smooth. Qiao Xi stared intently at Shen Ya, but her eyes couldn’t focus and looked very lost, as if a mist obscured her vision, preventing her from distinguishing who the person in front of her was.
Shen Ya tried to help Qiao Xi up and take her upstairs. As she reached out, Qiao Xi suddenly leaned in like a puppy, pressing her nose against Shen Ya’s arm and sniffing. Her nose was cold, brushing back and forth on Shen Ya’s skin, making her feel ticklish, but she didn’t withdraw her arm.
Just as Shen Ya was about to put her arms around Qiao Xi to help her stand up, Qiao Xi, who was sniffing her arm, suddenly opened her mouth and bit her.
Qiao Xi didn’t bite hard, just gently gnawing with the tips of her teeth, as if Shen Ya’s arm were a teething bone.
Shen Ya patted Qiao Xi’s head with her other hand: “Xiao Xi, let’s go back to the room.”
Qiao Xi was obedient. She let go after Shen Ya spoke, but in the next second, she dove into Shen Ya’s embrace: “Teach-Teacher Shen… I recognized you. Teacher Shen smells… smells so good.”
Qiao Xi’s words were slurred. She hugged Shen Ya, constantly rubbing her head against Shen Ya’s abdomen, like Pangpang seeing its owner, and she couldn’t be pulled away.
Shen Ya let Qiao Xi hug her: “Why did you drink so much?”
Qiao Xi was already drunk and could barely comprehend Shen Ya’s question. She just tried hard to look up when she heard Shen Ya’s voice, attempting to distinguish the words by lip-reading.
But the Shen Ya in her eyes multiplied into several, shimmering like stars. She shook her head and rubbed her eyes, yet still couldn’t see Shen Ya’s face clearly.
“So many, many Teacher Shens…”
“Hm?” Shen Ya grabbed Qiao Xi’s arm and lifted her up with force, but a drunk person couldn’t support herself. Qiao Xi was as soft as water, leaning all her weight onto Shen Ya.
Shen Ya had no choice but to lift Qiao Xi into a bridal carry: “Don’t move around.”
Qiao Xi’s hands loosely circled Shen Ya’s neck. Looking at the face so close to hers, Qiao Xi, driven by pure instinct, pressed her lips against Shen Ya’s face, deliberately making a loud smacking sound.
But Qiao Xi soon lost the strength to hold herself up and rested her head on Shen Ya’s body. The spot where Qiao Xi had just kissed was now quite wet, and the kiss carried a heavy smell of alcohol. It felt like a deep brand seared onto Shen Ya’s heart.
This brand morphed into a hot, sticky accelerant, igniting a small flame in her abdomen. Her inner peace was disturbed, and her steps quickened.
Shen Ya lowered her gaze, looking tenderly at Qiao Xi and soothing her: “Good girl, we’ll be in the room soon.”
Taking the elevator behind the spiral staircase up to the third floor, Shen Ya walked straight to her own room. Arriving at the door, she had to momentarily put Qiao Xi down. But Qiao Xi had no strength and couldn’t stand steadily, so Shen Ya had to press her against the wall, holding her waist with one hand.
After entering the password, Shen Ya pushed the door open. She held Qiao Xi and slowly guided her into the room. Changing the environment made Qiao Xi wary. She looked around, only feeling this was an unfamiliar hotel, and immediately struggled to break free from Shen Ya’s embrace.
“Where, where is this… I, I don’t want to…”
Shen Ya had to use force to keep her wrapped in her arms: “Xiao Xi, this is ‘Blank’. You stayed here for one night before, remember?”
“‘Blank’… ‘Blank’, ‘Blank’.” Qiao Xi mumbled, and her struggling weakened.
Shen Ya helped Qiao Xi lie down on the bed. Qiao Xi was thinly dressed, and her shirt was already wrinkled. Once she lay down, she started pulling at her clothes, continuously muttering: “Uncomfortable…”
“I’ll undo a few buttons for you, don’t move.” Shen Ya sat beside Qiao Xi. She stroked Qiao Xi’s face to soothe her. When Qiao Xi calmed down a little, she grabbed both of Qiao Xi’s hands and pinned them above her head.
Shen Ya unbuttoned Qiao Xi’s shirt with one hand. When she undid the button at the chest and saw the white lace bra, she turned her slightly flushed face away and released Qiao Xi’s hands.
Newly freed, Qiao Xi became restless again. She was still very hot. The clothes felt like chains binding her, and she just wanted to tear them all off. Qiao Xi rolled over. Seeing the pristine white bed and smelling the faint scent of Shen Ya in the air, her wariness had largely diminished.
Qiao Xi propped herself up on the bed to sit up. Sensing her movement, Shen Ya reached out to offer support: “What’s wrong?”
Having finally sat up, Qiao Xi realized she had no strength to sustain herself. She went limp and leaned against Shen Ya, but she grabbed Shen Ya’s clothes, her mouth still pressed against Shen Ya’s neck. The irrational Qiao Xi was completely releasing her long-suppressed instincts.
She pecked at the area above Shen Ya’s collarbone repeatedly, then stuck out her tongue and licked back and forth. Shen Ya frowned. An itch turned into a little snake inside her body, slowly crawling up from her chest towards her lower abdomen.
Shen Ya wrapped her arms around Qiao Xi’s waist and patted her: “Xiao Xi, be good, lie down first.”
Qiao Xi opened her mouth and latched onto Shen Ya’s skin, sucking and nibbling mischievously. Shen Ya gasped. She slightly tilted her head back, still indulging Qiao Xi.
The tip of Qiao Xi’s tongue was slick, and every lick on Shen Ya’s neck made her uncontrollably tremble slightly. Qiao Xi, as if tasting a delicacy, absolutely refused to let go. She wanted to kiss lower, but the bothersome clothes blocked her way. Qiao Xi was annoyed. She lifted her head, grabbed Shen Ya’s collar, and said sternly: “Take, take it off.”
“Xiao Xi.” Shen Ya called Qiao Xi’s name again.
Qiao Xi looked at the pair of red lips opening and closing. Without thinking, she leaned in and kissed them. The lips were soft, like kissing a rose petal covered with a thin layer of frost. Qiao Xi had never kissed before. Her technique was clumsy. She didn’t know how to make both of them comfortable, only gnawing like a puppy at the spot she liked.
The drunk Qiao Xi could be so bold. This was unexpected for Shen Ya, but it also showed Shen Ya the genuine feelings Qiao Xi held for her. Qiao Xi was probably not truly angry. Her refusals were just a child’s tantrum. What Qiao Xi wanted, perhaps, was nothing more than her initiative, her closeness, and her tenderness.
Realizing all this, Shen Ya’s eyes softened. She no longer blocked Qiao Xi’s audacity, even actively guiding Qiao Xi to penetrate her last line of defense.
Shen Ya’s tongue was nimble. She found Qiao Xi’s tongue tip, poking it teasingly. Qiao Xi, like a little fish taking the bait, easily chased her tongue and invaded her mouth. Shen Ya wrapped around Qiao Xi, using retreat to advance, keeping Qiao Xi by her side.
Just as Shen Ya was about to use action to teach Qiao Xi how to kiss, Qiao Xi let go and turned her head, gulping for air: “I can’t breathe.”
Shen Ya let out a soft chuckle from her nose. She pinched Qiao Xi’s earlobe and rubbed it, then deliberately teased her: “You don’t know how to kiss, yet you dared to come and kiss me?”
The lack of oxygen made Qiao Xi even less capable of thinking. She only felt from the tone that Shen Ya was laughing at her. Qiao Xi was unconvinced. She started to lose track of whether this was a dream or reality.
Could her Teacher Shen really be so playful, indulging her recklessness?
Qiao Xi placed both hands on Shen Ya’s shoulders. She stared at Shen Ya’s face, carefully trying to discern if the person in front of her was real. But the Shen Ya in her eyes was blurry, like a veil, or the moon in the sky. She couldn’t see her clearly, nor could she seem to grasp her.
She asked innocently: “Are, are you Teacher Shen?”
“Of course.” Shen Ya looked at the full, crimson lips she had just kissed, and couldn’t help but lean in and kiss the tip of Qiao Xi’s nose: “Can you recognize who I am now?”
Qiao Xi was like a stuck machine. She nodded first, then suddenly paused: “Then why, why did Teacher Shen turn into, into so many, I can’t see clearly… can’t see clearly…”
“Because you’re drunk.”
“Drunk?” Qiao Xi released Shen Ya and tapped her own head: “Mm, I think I’m drunk.” She stopped her hand and then foolishly asked: “Then am I asleep? Am I dreaming right now?”
Shen Ya was about to reply, but a different thought arose in her mind. The current Qiao Xi was adorable and unguarded. This was a perfect opportunity to hear Qiao Xi’s true thoughts.
She took off her coat and tossed it aside, then asked: “Then what if you are dreaming right now? What would Xiao Xi do in a dream?”
A dream…
So this really was a dream. That’s why Teacher Shen didn’t stop her, and why she allowed her to misbehave. But if it was a dream, could she do more outrageous things? Could she finally stop restraining herself?
Knowing it was a dream, she leaned in and bit Shen Ya’s cheek fiercely. Hearing Shen Ya gasp in pain, she released her mouth and smiled somewhat naughtily: “I can bully Teacher Shen in a dream.”
“Hm?” Shen Ya’s fingertip caressed the spot where Qiao Xi had bitten her. She felt a distinct tooth mark: “You can bully Teacher Shen in a dream, so why can’t you bully Teacher Shen outside of a dream?”
“Because Teacher Shen outside of a dream is a coward.” Qiao Xi pouted. She was a little wronged: “If I bully her, Teacher Shen will run away again.”
Qiao Xi shook her head: “Can’t bully Teacher Shen.”
Hearing Qiao Xi’s words, Shen Ya’s smile became a little bitter. Her retreat had indeed become a thorn in Qiao Xi’s side. Qiao Xi was a little sun, but the little sun was also sensitive. Beneath her cheerful exterior, her mind was more delicate than anyone’s. That’s why she hadn’t dared to fully believe in Shen Ya’s feelings after realizing them.
Shen Ya’s hand moved to Qiao Xi’s face. “I’m sorry.” She cupped Qiao Xi’s face, leaned in, and kissed the tip of Qiao Xi’s nose. She slowly moved down and placed a kiss on the corner of her lips: “Teacher Shen won’t run away again.”
A beam of light suddenly appeared in Qiao Xi’s drunk eyes. She asked cautiously: “Really?”
“Really, I swear to you.”
“Then…” Qiao Xi extended her pinky finger: “Pinky promise.”
This childish gesture amused Shen Ya, but she held back her laughter and complied, extending her own pinky finger.
Qiao Xi didn’t overthink it. She actively hooked Shen Ya’s finger, then recited a childish oath. When they reached the final step, which required a seal, Shen Ya stopped her: “Xiao Xi, do you want to seal it somewhere else?”
Qiao Xi tilted her head. At that moment, Shen Ya used her other hand to press the back of Qiao Xi’s head, bringing those soft lips closer to her own.
Their lips met. This time, there was no biting, only a tender kiss left in the light and shadow, filled with the aroma of wine and roses.
