Chapter 78: Although the New Year isn’t over yet, but…
Although the New Year wasn’t completely over, the holiday was drawing to a close. Jiang Yunyi returned early because she had work to deal with. After a brief period of busyness, she left her quiet and cold home. That day in Zhoucheng, she didn’t get an answer from Shen Ya, but Shen Ya’s silence let her know that her youngest sister was probably going to do something that would make Jiang Yunxi collapse.
She could drive the route to ‘Blank’ with her eyes closed. After a few days’ absence, she could tell from the cars parked outside that ‘Blank’ was as lively as ever.
Jiang Yunyi walked into ‘Blank’ and familiar greeted the young employee at the bar. She didn’t notice that the employee’s expression was a little strange until her phone showed invalid when pressed against the access control. She took two steps back and asked: “Is the machine broken?”
“The boss said, if you come, please pay a 50,000 yuan entry fee first.”
“What?” Jiang Yunyi pursed her lips and frowned. She didn’t know what Fang Moyao was up to this time. She raised her voice, commanding: “Open the door first. Where is Fang Moyao? I’ll go find her.”
The girl shrank her neck, her smile awkward: “CEO Jiang, please don’t make things difficult for me.”
Jiang Yunyi let out a heavy breath, then opened her phone and transferred fifty thousand yuan to Fang Moyao. “Open the door.”
The glass door opened, and the girl reminded her again: “The boss is waiting for you on the third floor.”
Jiang Yunyi walked into ‘Blank’, heading straight for the small hidden elevator behind the stairs. There weren’t many rooms on the third floor. The room with the largest door was where Fang Moyao and Zhou Ziqian usually stayed overnight at ‘Blank’.
She first knocked on the door, then entered the password on the electronic lock. Once verification was successful, she pushed the door open. Before she even got close, she heard Zhou Ziqian telling Fang Moyao a joke. Jiang Yunyi walked in with a dark expression. The noise inside ceased when they heard her. But soon, she saw Zhou Ziqian poke her head out:
“Oh, our CEO Jiang is here. The boss is generous, paying a fifty thousand tip just to enter. What would the boss like to eat or drink? I’ll get it ready right away.”
Jiang Yunyi ignored Zhou Ziqian. She raised her hand to push the other party aside, walking directly to Fang Moyao and sitting on the single sofa next to her. She didn’t waste any words, starting with a question: “What are you doing now.”
Fang Moyao took out a long leather paddle with a black kitten paw from behind her back and, without a word, swung it towards Jiang Yunyi’s face. Facing the sudden attack, Jiang Yunyi’s expression remained unchanged, not even flinching. As expected, the kitten paw paddle instantly slowed down just before hitting her face.
The kitten paw paddle lightly tapped Jiang Yunyi’s face, like a tease. Jiang Yunyi sneered, snatched the paddle, and slapped Fang Moyao’s thigh: “Say what you need to say.”
The slap, delivered through pants, wasn’t strong, just slightly ticklish. Fang Moyao glared at her, then picked up the teacup on the table and drank it all in one gulp. As she put down the teacup, her expression turned innocent and lonely: “Do you remember how many years it’s been since my little aunt passed away?”
Jiang Yunyi remained silent. She used the paddle to point at Fang Moyao’s leg, signaling her to continue.
“A girl came to ‘Blank’ a few days ago. The first time I saw her, I thought I was seeing my little aunt. Tell me, how about I adopt her as my sister?”
Jiang Yunyi had been in the same class as Fang Moyao since primary school. They were inseparable friends and knew each other best. Jiang Yunyi knew Fang Moyao wouldn’t bring this up for no reason, and there couldn’t be a second Fang Lanxi in this world.
“What did you say to Xiao Xi?” Jiang Yunyi tossed the paddle down. “Why did she come to ‘Blank’?”
Fang Moyao looked up, her eyes filled with resentment and confusion towards Jiang Yunyi: “You knew all along that Xiao Xi was my little aunt’s child. Why did you hide it from my family? Why didn’t you let her acknowledge us? She clearly had a family, so why was she adopted by your Jiang family back then?”
After more than ten years, the huge stone hanging in Jiang Yunyi’s heart finally fell. She never thought she could hide this from Fang Moyao forever. This matter was a tragedy at its core. She sighed, “It’s a long story. Back then, Xiao Xi’s custody was not something you or I could decide.”
“Then cut it short! You knew very well that my little aunt was always a thorn in my mom’s and my grandma’s hearts. Even if you decided to adopt Xiao Xi back then, why hide it from our family? Jiang Yunyi, all these years of our friendship didn’t even earn me a single truthful word from you.”
Qiao Xi was completely unaware of the undercurrents at ‘Blank’. After laying all her cards on the table with Shen Ya earlier in the day, she felt much happier. Although she hadn’t completely forgiven Shen Ya yet, the atmosphere between them was gradually becoming intimate again.
After a month apart, Shen Ya seemed to have gone for advanced training. Even though Qiao Xi hadn’t asked directly, Shen Ya guessed the questions in her heart. Before speaking, however, Shen Ya brought her snacks and drinks. After taking good care of her, she took her hand and slowly recounted everything that had happened at ‘Blank’ and what ‘Blank’ was.
In Shen Ya’s words, Qiao Xi felt like she had entered another mysterious world. It turned out that the people at ‘Blank’ had the most niche preferences, preferences she had only encountered online before. Although she didn’t understand why people would enjoy pain and enjoy being controlled, after hearing what Shen Ya said, she started to feel sorry for Shen Ya.
However, when she heard that her two sisters were also members of ‘Blank’, she was dumbfounded, and even the opened bag of potato chips in her hand fell to the floor.
“Wait, Teacher Shen, do you mean my sisters Jiang Yunxi and Jiang Yunyi also like this kind of pain?”
Knowing Qiao Xi had misunderstood, Shen Ya couldn’t help but laugh, but she quickly suppressed it: “Both of your sisters are the active parties; they are the ones wielding the paddle.”
“So Teacher Shen and Doctor Jiang are not a couple? You just have a relationship within this circle?”
“Mm.” Shen Ya added: “But I no longer have any feelings for your sister.”
“This…” Qiao Xi picked up the potato chip bag from the floor and placed it on the coffee table. She then found a wet wipe to clean her hands: “I really didn’t expect my sister to have a side like this. But, Teacher Shen, doesn’t it hurt? I still can’t accept that my sister once did such things to you. In my opinion, my sister was bullying you.”
Shen Ya never thought there would be a day when Qiao Xi would firmly choose her between Jiang Yunxi and herself. She had always heard that Qiao Xi loved her sister very much, but seeing that slightly angry look now, Shen Ya’s heart was filled with warmth.
Her smile carried a sense of relief, “It’s all in the past.” This was her last secret. After laying everything out to Qiao Xi, the weight on her shoulders was significantly lighter. “Xiao Xi, I won’t hide anything from you anymore in the future.”
These words were sweeter than candy and honey. Qiao Xi couldn’t help but grin, but she forcibly held it back, purposely adding: “We’ll have to see if Teacher Shen can keep her word.”
A pouting Qiao Xi was also adorable. Shen Ya couldn’t resist. She pulled Qiao Xi’s arm, forcibly embracing her.
Qiao Xi made a show of struggling, but she wasn’t putting any force into it. Shen Ya’s scent intoxicated her. She thought that perhaps the heating was on too high, which made her feel hot enough to want to take off her clothes just from a simple hug.
Shen Ya’s lips were pressed against Qiao Xi’s hair. Being close to Qiao Xi now, the cells in her body were cheering. A voice kept tempting her in her mind. She wanted to hold Qiao Xi tighter, wanted to taste those soft lips carefully now, and wanted Qiao Xi to stay by her side forever.
She kissed the top of Qiao Xi’s head, her lips slowly moving down. She cupped Qiao Xi’s face, spontaneously kissing the area between Qiao Xi’s eyebrows and eyes. Qiao Xi closed her eyes and tilted her head back, nervously clutching Shen Ya’s clothes. Her lips were full and rosy, like fruit in springtime, always tempting one to take a bite and savor it.
The spots Shen Ya kissed were left with the scent of roses. Countless bright red roses enveloped her, and the most vibrant one was within reach. It seemed that all she had to do was raise her hand, and the rose would be brought to her.
A sticky warmth sprayed on Qiao Xi’s face. Shen Ya had already kissed her nose. She held her breath, but couldn’t control her heartbeat. As she waited for the approaching rose petals, a sense of shame arrived faster than Shen Ya’s kiss.
Just before the kiss landed on Qiao Xi’s lips, Qiao Xi suddenly broke free from Shen Ya’s grasp. Her face flushed red, and her breathing was unsteady. The thought of kissing Shen Ya made her body tingle with embarrassment as if she had been electrocuted.
She had just eaten potato chips; would her mouth taste of chips? She had never been kissed before; would Shen Ya notice her inexperience? And during the kiss, would they go further?
Shyness and anxiety made Qiao Xi fabricate a fake excuse: “I, I haven’t forgiven Teacher Shen yet. It’s not allowed…”
With her arms suddenly empty, Shen Ya hadn’t fully recovered from the ambiguous, fresh, and fruitily sweet atmosphere just now. She was slightly displeased by Qiao Xi’s sudden retreat. The fruit within reach had flown away. Shen Ya’s tone became a little more demanding: “Not allowed what?”
Teacher Shen had become naughty. She clearly knew what Qiao Xi wanted to say, yet she deliberately asked her to say it out loud. Since the beginning of their meeting, the rhythm between them had been completely controlled by Shen Ya. Now, she was intentionally luring her to say something embarrassing.
“Xiao Xi?” Shen Ya reached out to grab Qiao Xi again.
Unexpectedly, Qiao Xi was so shy that she covered her face with both hands, shouting in embarrassment: “Just, just not allowed!”
Shen Ya’s hand paused in front of Qiao Xi. The motion of grabbing turned into a caress. Proactiveness couldn’t turn into coercion. Qiao Xi had given her a month to think, so she should also give Qiao Xi some time to fully adapt and re-accept her.
“Okay, then take a break. I’m going to make some food.”
Shen Ya finally ruffled Qiao Xi’s head before standing up and leaving. Qiao Xi secretly watched Shen Ya’s retreating figure through her fingers. After confirming the other party had turned the corner into the kitchen, she took her hands off her face. She breathed a sigh of relief. Shen Ya’s enthusiasm today had nearly overwhelmed her.
Shiyi jumped onto her lap, rubbed against her, then turned around to find a comfortable position to lie down. Qiao Xi picked up Shiyi and stood up from the sofa, walking towards Shiyi’s cat room first.
In the room, she set Shiyi down. A cat tree and a small cabinet had been added to the cat room. She opened the cabinet, which contained cat food, canned cat food, and various treats.
Shiyi came over and pawed at her pants, as if she knew what was inside the cabinet.
Qiao Xi found a freeze-dried yogurt from the cabinet, opened the package, and squatted down to feed Shiyi. She stroked Shiyi’s fur, “So Teacher Shen didn’t give you away to someone else to raise.”
Shiyi ate slowly, but it was obvious she loved it. Having received a treat, she seemed to like Qiao Xi even more. When Qiao Xi came out of the cat room, Shiyi followed closely at her feet. Qiao Xi bypassed the kitchen, quietly walking towards the bedroom.
She closed the door without making a sound. Qiao Xi first opened the wardrobe to check. The missing clothes were indeed hanging back on the hangers. Shen Ya’s personal belongings were also in the room. There was work that Shen Ya hadn’t finished on the desk.
The toothbrush in the bathroom had been replaced with a new one. The toothbrush cups were now a pair of ceramic cups with cartoon patterns. The towels hanging nearby seemed to be a matching couple’s set. Qiao Xi looked around and saw that the painting of Shen Ya and Shiyi had been framed and was hanging on the wall above the bed. The bedding on the bed was a warm color scheme. The room was no longer gloomy. Every corner had warmth. Shen Ya hadn’t lied; she had truly returned home.
