Chapter 109: Ten Minutes Past Midnight.
Ten minutes past midnight.
The elevator stopped at the fifth floor and opened its doors. A beam of light cut through the otherwise dim hallway. As Qiao Xi stepped out of the elevator, the doors slowly closed, and the beam of light gradually narrowed into a slit before being swallowed by the darkness again.
Although Qiao Xi had only been here twice, she remembered there was nothing in front of door 502 last time. Why was there an empty cardboard box now? Could it have been placed by Shen Ya at the door and blown away by the wind?
But the hallway windows weren’t open much. Could such a big box really be blown away? Could 502 be occupied now? But wasn’t this Zhou Ziqian’s old apartment?
Qiao Xi found it strange but didn’t dwell on it. It was very late, and Shen Ya had to work tomorrow. She wondered if the other party was asleep.
She turned and walked towards 501. Upon reaching the door, she entered the passcode and pushed the door open. Qiao Xi saw no light seeping out from inside. The living room was pitch black and very quiet. She took out her phone, turned on the flashlight, and illuminated the path ahead.
Qiao Xi reached the bedroom door, slowly pressed down the doorknob, and pushed the door open. She only saw a faint light dispelling the darkness in a small corner.
She tiptoed in, rounded the corner, and saw Shen Ya lying on her side, asleep, with her eyes closed. One of her hands rested outside the blanket. Tonight, she was wearing a black long-sleeved pajama top, and her long hair was scattered casually on the pillow.
Shen Ya, with her delicate lips and light eyebrows, had a serene sleeping face that made her seem to have shed her usual defenses. Qiao Xi boldly moved closer. She knelt down by the bed, and no matter how she looked at the person on the bed, she felt happy.
Usually, she was the first to fall asleep. Now that she could finally see the sleeping Shen Ya, Qiao Xi was filled with a mischievous thought. She stared at Shen Ya’s lips and cautiously leaned in. It was a simple kiss, but the added element of “sneaking” made Qiao Xi’s heart pound.
Before their lips met, she already caught the faint fragrance of Shen Ya’s hair. Just three centimeters away from kissing those soft lips, Shen Ya suddenly opened her eyes. A hint of cunning flashed in her eyes, and a beautiful curve appeared on her lips. Qiao Xi was like a rabbit walking into a snare. Before she could react, Shen Ya’s hand, which had been resting outside the blanket, lifted and pressed her head down towards her.
“Mmm…”
The kiss completely slipped out of Qiao Xi’s control. The hand pressing the back of her head continued to exert force. Shen Ya first stuck out her tongue and licked Qiao Xi’s lower lip, then slightly opened her mouth and bit down.
“Ugh…” Qiao Xi cried out in pain. The air near her nose grew thin. Her clumsy kissing technique made her embarrassed. If Shen Ya hadn’t given her some air, she might have passed out from lack of oxygen.
When the pressure on her head disappeared, Qiao Xi finally got a chance to breathe. Letting go of the kiss, she gasped for air. Shen Ya licked the corner of her lips and sat up on the bed. Her legs emerged from the blanket, clean and smooth. One toe touched the ground, and the top of her other foot rubbed back and forth on Qiao Xi’s body.
“Came to play thief late at night?”
Qiao Xi knelt on the ground, looking up at Shen Ya. The teasing made Qiao Xi’s ears flush slightly. Not only did she fail to do the bad thing, but she was also caught red-handed. All she could do was smile foolishly at Shen Ya.
Shen Ya didn’t ask Qiao Xi to stand up. Instead, she reached out, gently pinched Qiao Xi’s cheek, and asked: “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be at school at this hour?”
“I missed Teacher Shen.”
“Oh, you.” Shen Ya let out a slight laugh through her nose: “No class tomorrow?”
Qiao Xi shook her head. She lifted her hand and covered the back of Shen Ya’s hand, rubbing her cheek against it, like a puppy wagging its tail at Shen Ya: “I only have class tomorrow afternoon. I just finished having a late-night snack with Xia Cong’an and Yu Tiantian.”
“So you came straight here without even going back to school. Aren’t you afraid of room checks?”
“No, I’m not. An upperclassman said they won’t check rooms tonight. Besides, even if they do, it’s fine. The school isn’t strict about it.”
If it weren’t for mandatory on-campus housing for freshmen, she wouldn’t want to stay. She had talked to Xia Cong’an and Yu Tiantian before. Both of them planned to apply for off-campus housing in their sophomore year. Yu Tiantian was moving out to live with Ji Lingwei, and Song Wanning seemed to be considering moving nearby to accompany Xia Cong’an for her studies. As for her, she would definitely move in with Shen Ya in the second half of the year.
“Go take a shower first. You smell completely like barbecue.” Shen Ya released her hand and stood up from the bed, walking towards the closet, bypassing Qiao Xi.
She found Qiao Xi’s clothes inside and walked toward the bathroom. After placing the pajamas on the rack, she returned to the bathroom cabinet, pulled open a drawer, and took out a new toothbrush. Qiao Xi followed behind her. Seeing that she had prepared everything, Qiao Xi hugged her arm and sweetly said: “Thank you, Teacher Shen. Teacher Shen is so good to me.”
Shen Ya tapped her nose: “Stop teasing.”
Qiao Xi stood straight with her chest out, smiling as she answered: “Yes, Teacher Shen.”
With that, she turned and ran into the shower stall. Shen Ya looked at her triumphant appearance and shook her head with a smile.
While Qiao Xi was undressing, Shen Ya came out of the bathroom. She had been asleep, and she wasn’t sure when Qiao Xi opened the apartment door, but the moment the bedroom door moved, she opened her eyes.
She initially thought a thief had broken in and was about to get up to find a handy weapon, but she recognized the visitor’s identity from the sound of the footsteps. She closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep, wanting to see what kind of mischief this “little thief” was planning, not staying obediently at school late at night.
Qiao Xi was young after all. She wanted to sneak a kiss but didn’t know to hold her breath. The sweet, warm air constantly breathed onto her face. Shen Ya was already impatient for the little rascal to do something naughty.
Shen Ya returned to the bed. After a bit of sleep, she felt energetic now. Qiao Xi definitely wouldn’t wake up that early tomorrow, and she still had work, so just in case, she picked up her phone and sent a message to Fang Moyao.
When Qiao Xi emerged from the bathroom, her hair tips were still damp. Now, she smelled exactly like Shen Ya, with the same shower gel scent from head to toe. Seeing that Shen Ya hadn’t fallen asleep but was leaning against the headboard waiting for her, she eagerly climbed onto the bed.
“Teacher Shen.”
Qiao Xi straddled Shen Ya’s legs, wrapped her arms around Shen Ya’s neck, and leaned in to kiss Shen Ya’s mouth: “Was Teacher Shen asleep just now?”
“Mm.” Shen Ya wrapped her arms around Qiao Xi’s waist, using her fingers to brush away the stray hair that was blocking Qiao Xi’s eyes.
“When did you notice me?”
“I woke up when you walked into the room.”
Qiao Xi pouted unhappily: “Then Teacher Shen is bad for pretending to be asleep.”
“Otherwise, how could I catch the little thief who sneaks over late at night to do bad things?”
“I’m not a little thief! I walked in openly through the door.” Qiao Xi lifted her chin, looking slightly arrogant, clearly dissatisfied that Shen Ya called her a thief.
“Teacher Shen.” Qiao Xi blinked her eyes, which seemed to hold an entire galaxy. She leaned her face slightly closer, her intentions clearly written on her face: “I’ve come to ask Teacher Shen for my reward.”
“Huh?” Shen Ya pretended not to remember: “What reward?”
Qiao Xi immediately got anxious: “Teacher Shen doesn’t remember?!”
Shen Ya looked calmly at Qiao Xi. Her composed appearance made it impossible for Qiao Xi to tell if she was lying or genuinely couldn’t remember.
But regardless of which it was, Qiao Xi had to reclaim what was rightfully hers: “A couple of days ago, Teacher Shen said she would give me a reward if I was obedient and didn’t sneak away from home late at night. Doesn’t Teacher Shen remember?!”
Shen Ya suppressed a laugh, raised an eyebrow, and countered: “Did I? Did I say that?”
Hearing Shen Ya say this, Qiao Xi’s eyes instantly widened. She looked at Shen Ya incredulously, trying to find a flaw in Shen Ya’s expression. She didn’t believe Shen Ya would forget what she had promised.
But Shen Ya wasn’t afraid of her gaze at all, even allowing her to examine and scrutinize her openly. Qiao Xi grew more flustered and felt increasingly wronged. How could Shen Ya forget the reward she had promised?!
Qiao Xi felt wronged and a little angry, a fire building up inside her. She wanted to lash out at Shen Ya, but looking at Shen Ya’s face, she couldn’t let the fire in her heart burst out.
Damn it, how had Shen Ya completely captured her heart, preventing her from getting angry even when she was annoyed and embarrassed?
The fire in her heart was still burning, but she couldn’t vent it. Qiao Xi’s eyes turned red from holding it in. Just as she was about to slide off Shen Ya and sulk on the side, Shen Ya wrapped her arms around Qiao Xi’s waist, pulling her closer. Her soft lips pressed below Qiao Xi’s right eye.
A fleeting kiss. Shen Ya looked at Qiao Xi, smiling: “Going to cry?”
“You!!” Qiao Xi finally realized she had been tricked by Shen Ya again: “Teacher Shen, you are the biggest jerk!”
Qiao Xi tried to pull away from Shen Ya, but Shen Ya held her tightly, giving her no chance to escape. Shen Ya kissed her cheek again: “Xiao Xi is too adorable. I couldn’t resist teasing you. I’m sorry. Shall Teacher Shen give you your reward now?”
This time, Shen Ya didn’t give Qiao Xi a chance to refuse. She captured Qiao Xi’s hands, pinning them behind her back. Her teeth were already nibbling at Qiao Xi’s neck. She somewhat regretted preparing pajamas for Qiao Xi.
Shen Ya was careful, knowing Qiao Xi still had school, so she only bit gently, leaving no mark whatsoever on her neck.
Shen Ya’s kisses were like a sun shower, intense yet warm.
When she kissed Qiao Xi’s throat, she felt Qiao Xi’s swallowing motion.
(As Shen Ya leaned in, Qiao Xi covered her mouth: No.
Shen Ya looked at her in confusion.
Qiao Xi said: “This is Jinjiang. Nothing is allowed here.”
Shen Ya lowered her eyes, disappointment appearing, but after a moment, she looked up. As their eyes met, Shen Ya opened her mouth and silently spoke a few words.)
Qiao Xi didn’t know if she understood, but her face was flushed. She grabbed Shen Ya’s collar and pulled hard, quickly creasing the fabric.
She seemed reluctant and embarrassed, but a red mark soon appeared on her collarbone. (I’m out of ideas. Pajamas, buttons, and Jinjiang won’t allow it). Shen Ya embraced her waist. While they were kissing, Shen Ya’s index finger was tracing circles.
(Have you tried waiting from dark to dawn? 14 times. Just pity me.)
Every place Shen Ya’s fingertip touched sent a tingling current through Qiao Xi’s body. The sensation made her continuously contract her abdomen.
Qiao Xi’s shoulders were smooth and round. When Shen Ya released her mouth, she intentionally rubbed her nose against Qiao Xi’s shoulder: “Teacher Shen… it tickles…”
Shen Ya looked up, smiling as she asked: “Where does it tickle?”
Her heart tickled.
Her shoulder tickled.
She couldn’t even specify the exact spot. Her hands, now free, gripped the hem of Shen Ya’s shirt. Qiao Xi couldn’t articulate her feelings, only pulling gently at Shen Ya’s clothing.
“Then what does Xiao Xi want Teacher Shen to do?” As Shen Ya spoke, her fingers continued to caress Qiao Xi, her little finger often mischievously brushing against the unspeakable place.
Qiao Xi pulled Shen Ya’s clothes again and knelt straighter, subtly twisting her waist, like a firefly seeking something: “I, I don’t know…”
When the words left her mouth, Qiao Xi realized her voice had turned soft as cotton. She still couldn’t say those blush-inducing words, only pleading with Shen Ya through her tear-filled eyes.
She knew Shen Ya would understand, but she wasn’t sure if the other party would tease her again. She thought that even if she were teased again, it didn’t matter, as long as Shen Ya finally helped her and stopped keeping her in suspense.
“Then will Xiao Xi listen to me?”
Qiao Xi nodded.
“Then Xiao Xi, turn around and face away from me now.”
After Shen Ya released her, she obediently turned around but remained kneeling on Shen Ya’s lap with her legs spread apart.
Shen Ya held Qiao Xi’s shoulders, kissing her back inch by inch, as if savoring a delicious small cake.
Qiao Xi’s shoulder blades were beautiful, but her body was too thin. Perhaps because Qiao Xi was a premature baby, she could never gain weight. Shen Ya hoped Qiao Xi could look a bit healthier.
Unable to see Shen Ya, she could only sense what Shen Ya was doing to her. Therefore, when Shen Ya gently nibbled her back again, the sensation was magnified, and the pain entirely transformed into a finely detailed, tingling numbness.
Shen Ya asked her: “Does Xiao Xi know how a little cat stretches?”
Qiao Xi didn’t know and asked with her eyes.
(A little cat stretches, head forward, tail up. A human strokes its fur, and the little cat meows happily.)
“Don’t move. Didn’t you say you would listen to me?”
(Cats are good. Cats like to stretch. They rub against a human’s hand. What kind of bad thoughts does a little cat have? It’s just a cat. Jinjiang ultimately has no place for a little cat.)
(I have a hairless cat. I bought her many little clothes and wipe her body every day. Because she has no fur, her skin is soft, softer than a human’s. My favorite thing is to hug her and shower her with kisses after her bath, when she smells like pet shampoo, and even give her a couple of bites. Cuddling a cat is stress-relieving. It’s just cuddling a cat.)
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t control my strength. Did I bite you? Does it hurt?” Shen Ya feigned concern, but Qiao Xi, who was facing away, couldn’t see the clear smile on her face. “Teacher Shen will rub it better for you.”
Shen Ya did follow through on her promise to rub, but the position she rubbed was not where Qiao Xi expected.
The emotions rising between them turned into fuel, igniting the intimacy in the room.
(I truly have no choice. Let’s assume Shen Ya was thirsty and wanted water. There happened to be a water bottle in the room. She picked it up and drank from the spout, taking big gulps. But the mouth of the bottle was too small, and the water flow was slow, so she could only nibble the spout and use her tongue to draw out the water. Everything was because of thirst. Humans need water. What’s wrong with drinking water? She just wanted to drink water.)
The room became hot and humid. It seemed a faucet somewhere wasn’t turned off tightly. Intermittent sounds blended into the air, echoing continuously in the small room.
Qiao Xi’s eyes were wet with tears. She didn’t know why her crying had to be edited 17 times. Was she not allowed to cry even in the world of Jinjiang? Shen Ya held her in her arms, brushed aside her damp hair, and lowered her head to kiss away her tears. (Even crying is not allowed? What’s wrong with crying? Everyone cries. Paper characters cry too. Crying produces tears. Why is crying repeatedly locked? Why can’t I cry? I’ll just cry myself to death here today.)
