- Chapter 101 - "Mark Me."
Warm light filled Lu Xibie’s vision. The light, like soft, prickly fur, made her lean closer and closer until her face was grasped by a cool palm, making her look up and fall into the shimmering water.
The mechanical warning sound and the urging alarm light had vanished sometime ago. It was as comfortable as floating in the air. The person in front of her felt unreal, leaving her heart constantly suspended.
“Golden House,” Lu Xibie called out.
Her gaze rested on the only grey plot point among the completed ones.
“Plot Point 18 (New): Please deliver Chu Liruo to Tan Ruijing. Reward: 100,000 Evolution Points.”
This plot point was greyed out and crossed with black lines.
De… deactivated?
Lu Xibie reached out to touch the panel, her eyes moving from top to bottom.
“Plot Point 20 completed. Reward: 100,000 Evolution Points.” The mechanical voice of the Golden House promptly sounded in her ear.
She stretched out her finger to tap the exchange button on the panel but was stopped by Chu Liruo, who grasped her hand. “What are you looking at?”
Lu Xibie’s eyes lit up. She stared at Chu Liruo and blinked. “You’re alive?”
“Nonsense, of course, I’m alive. You—” Chu Liruo poked Lu Xibie’s collarbone with her finger. “You’re still here because I saved you.”
Lu Xibie rubbed her eyes and opened them again—
That’s right. The swirling energy outside the protective sphere was stagnant. She had entered the system space.
But, how was Chu Liruo here?
“Why are you staring like a fool?” Chu Liruo pinched Lu Xibie’s cheek between her thumb and index finger. “Why can’t I use energy to shape your body?”
Lu Xibie’s face seemed a bit softer than before. Below the waist, she was still vine-like. She tried several times, but the energy remained fixed and showed no signs of flow. She looked up and saw Lu Xibie’s hand pointing at something in the air.
“This is…” Lu Xibie hesitated before speaking. “The system space.”
After successfully saying it, she was momentarily surprised, and starlight twinkled in her eyes.
“Oh?” Chu Liruo looked around, sensing something was wrong. She glanced down at her light brain. “Time has stopped here.”
“Yes,” Lu Xibie nodded.
Chu Liruo: “Then, how will it start flowing again?”
“Wait for me to finish this bottle of medicine,” Lu Xibie shook the vial that had appeared in her hand out of nowhere.
“This is the medicine you’re taking? It comes from here?” Chu Liruo took it, examined it, and handed it back to Lu Xibie. “This will stop your pain?”
Seeing Lu Xibie nod, Chu Liruo continued to ask, “Then, is this place the origin of your pain?”
“Yes.” With every sentence, Lu Xibie’s gaze toward Chu Liruo grew more fervent. “I was an important character in The Omega’s Evolution Path. No, I wasn’t originally a character in this book. Because I tore up the book, I came to this book after death and exist as the character Lu Xibie. I need to complete a series of plot points and push the plot so that Dan Ruijing, the protagonist of this book, reaches the pinnacle of power and strength.”
“Ah… I understand. That’s why you told me that time what it would be like if I were an actor in a play.” Chu Liruo recalled their past memories. “But you didn’t follow the plot points, did you?”
“Yes,” Lu Xibie replied. She stared at Chu Liruo with a fanatical look. “I have another person in my mind, the ‘Lu Xibie’ from the original plot. Because I tore the book, its intelligence dropped to that of a malicious child, unable to complete the plot, and it constantly nags me in my brain. When I first came to this world, I struggled to sleep every day. This medicine can eliminate its influence on me. With one more bottle, it will completely disappear.”
“How can you get the last bottle?” Chu Liruo asked.
Lu Xibie: “Complete the final plot point.”
She hesitated before asking, “Did you reach SSS-rank?”
Chu Liruo nodded. “What is the final plot point?”
“I don’t know yet.” Chu Liruo’s answer confirmed Lu Xibie’s guess. Her suspended heart slowly settled, and the pain in her nerves had vanished.
The fact that Chu Liruo could move and talk to her within the system space meant she had become the protagonist of The Omega’s Evolution Path.
The future she had once yearned for might truly become a reality.
She swallowed the last drop of the liquid. A whooshing sound reached her ear, and a tingling warmth spread through her abdomen.
With her hand pressed against Lu Xibie’s abdomen, Chu Liruo felt the energy fluctuating in her palm. “How magical. The energy flow is resuming.”
The white vines below Lu Xibie’s waist were transforming into flesh as Chu Liruo touched them, then covered by a layer of clothing that had changed from the white vines.
The joy of rekindled hope turned into shy awkwardness as Chu Liruo continued her actions.
Lu Xibie turned her face away, trying to escape this agonizing “torment” through self-deception.
She was being shaped by the one she had created. This realization made her lean back to subconsciously avoid getting closer.
Her waist was pulled, drawing her forward, and her face was easily turned to look straight ahead.
“Look at me.” Chu Liruo hooked her lips. “I want you to look at me. Every inch is created by me. Your body, your meridians, the deepest part of your soul, must be branded with me.”
Moving from the abdomen downwards, a strange touch brought out a surge of restlessness. Her breathing gradually became heavy. Lu Xibie was almost entirely in human form but seemed unable to stand steady.
“Did you just transform and haven’t learned to stand yet?” Chu Liruo embraced Lu Xibie and tilted her head to ask.
The clear fragrance of honeysuckle and balloon flower should not be so rich, yet it seeped through her nostrils and into her chest and lungs, acting as a catalyst to stir her entire body.
Lu Xibie twisted her neck. It must be because her original body was a white vine; shortly after transforming into a human, she wanted to turn back into a vine and entangle herself around Chu Liruo. The scene of her soul confined within the white vine before she woke up flashed before her eyes—the white vine wrapped around Chu Liruo, so close, as if there was no gap at all.
“It seems so.” Chu Liruo embraced Lu Xibie and smiled helplessly. The scent of fir and moss gave her a fresh breath. Energy constantly flowed from Lu Xibie’s back to her whole body and then gathered in the small core in her abdomen.
The seemingly infinite energy within the light sphere became the energy pool for Chu Liruo to solidify her SSS-rank and for Lu Xibie to reshape her body. Every pore on their bodies relaxed and opened, bathing in the energy, drawing them closer and closer.
The honeysuckle and balloon flower scent grew strangely intense. Lu Xibie looked up. Chu Liruo’s clear and delicate face was tinged with a flush. Her eyes and brows were hazy, and her lips parted as she murmured, “So hot.”
She swayed closer, resting her head on Lu Xibie’s shoulder, almost whining, “Lu Xibie, I’m so hot.”
Her elf-like features made her look like a bone-sucking temptress, causing Lu Xibie to momentarily lose focus. The restlessness surging throughout her body made her clear her throat.
The long, straight neck was close enough to tempt her forward. Her lips brushed past, and the cool touch was like swallowing a jasmine-flavored lozenge.
No, I can’t.
Lu Xibie struggled to retreat, looking up into wet, tender eyes.
The all-encompassing scent of honeysuckle and balloon flower made her head spin, unable to organize her thoughts. Her hands, unsure where to rest, were taken and clasped, fingers interwoven.
“You’re cool.” Chu Liruo pressed her face against Lu Xibie’s and rubbed lightly. Her voice rose at the end, and her pheromones instantly enveloped the protective sphere.
“Are you in your estrus cycle?” Lu Xibie asked, reaching out to feel around Chu Liruo, trying to find an inhibitor on her. Their intertwined hands made the search extremely difficult.
“So what if I am?” Chu Liruo slightly raised her eyes, annoyed by Lu Xibie’s frantic movements. Her beautiful eyes stared at her. “Aren’t you my wife?”
Her normally cool body was surprisingly hot. The breath she exhaled passed by Lu Xibie’s ear, bringing a shiver.
“Yes,” Lu Xibie squeezed out the word through her teeth, still trying to find the inhibitor.
“My wife won’t help me resolve this.” Chu Liruo leaned close to Lu Xibie’s ear, her panting breath drilling into the ear canal like an electric current. “What good are you to me?”
The clear tone, tinged with seduction, was like a pair of scissors “snapping” the tight string in Lu Xibie’s mind.
The Alpha’s pheromones, now completely uncontrollable, poured out and filled the protective sphere. She lowered her eyes and licked the Omega’s presented nape gland. Her clasped hands had prominent knuckles, and their breathing became entangled and undulating.
Treating it like a precious treasure, her small tongue gently swirled, carefully kissing. The intimate whispers brought forth unconscious whimpers.
“Is this okay?” Lu Xibie asked, turning to Chu Liruo to gauge her reaction.
In her arousal, her eyes were slightly vulnerable, her long lashes damp, and her gaze held an unspeakable watery intensity.
Chu Liruo was slightly annoyed. The unmet desire left her feeling an indescribable irritation. She lifted Lu Xibie’s chin and kissed her, their tongues intertwining, their breaths crossing.
Breaking the kiss, she pressed down on the back of Lu Xibie’s neck and lightly kissed her neck. “We’ve been married for so many years, didn’t you ever think about this?”
Lu Xibie let out a muffled groan, unable to maintain stable breathing. She lowered her head and gently bit Chu Liruo’s scent gland. Perhaps because it had never been stimulated before, a few bites were all it took for her to tremble violently. The whimpers that spilled from her lips provoked Lu Xibie to hold her even tighter. The alluring pink shade soaking the scent gland made it impossible for her to look away, and she couldn’t help but tease it with the tip of her tooth.
But she didn’t dare to bite too hard, only giving light, repetitive nibbles. Their trembling bodies pressed closer. The soft protective sphere supported them as they descended. The subtle pink flush on the fair skin stirred an indescribable desire. Their arms and legs became intertwined, and even their fine hair was wrapped around each other.
The agonizing sexual tension ignited fires all over their bodies but could not be completely satisfied. Chu Liruo could no longer restrain herself. She opened her mouth and bit Lu Xibie, leaving a mark on her shoulder, slightly aggrieved, “Do you even know how to do this?”
“Are you uncomfortable?” Lu Xibie blinked.
“Forget it.” Chu Liruo shook her head, her hand running over the back of Lu Xibie’s head and pressing down. “Mark me.”
Lu Xibie: “Doesn’t this work?”
Prolonged skin contact could serve as a temporary mark, easing the emotional turmoil of the estrus cycle.
Chu Liruo: “No, it doesn’t.”
Lu Xibie: “Biting will hurt.”
Chu Liruo resisted the urge to roll her eyes. “Why are you talking so much nonsense?”
The scent gland was enveloped in warmth. The tip of the tooth tentatively bit down, manipulating the senses of the person next to her. The sexual desire surged upward until it reached the critical point when the scent gland was punctured, and the cold pheromones of fir and moss were injected, coursing through the bloodstream. The wildly overflowing pheromones of honeysuckle and balloon flower easily submerged the two, like riding a small boat being tossed in a storm, swaying back and forth, sinking into intoxication and losing all control.
Amidst the bone-deep pleasure, Chu Liruo vaguely bit Lu Xibie’s neck and whispered, “Love me. You’re not allowed not to love me.”
