The crab shell might have already pricked her hand. Worried about infection, she needed to disinfect it quickly.

Without paying attention to Shen Yanzhou, she pushed past him and left the private room.

Finally, she found iodine at the front desk.

Shen Yanzhou arrived just as she was opening the iodine. Without a word, he took it from her and held her hand to disinfect the wound.

Xu Qingyi had been busy all night without eating a bite. Exhausted and hungry, she wasn’t in the mood to talk.

The two of them stayed silent like that.

Only when they were heading back to the private room did she speak to his back, “I was too harsh with my words that night. I apologize.”

Shen Yanzhou’s footsteps didn’t falter, and he gave no response.

“It’s because it involved my work,” she caught up to him. “If you caused trouble, it would affect my job.”

He finally turned to look at her and said, “You have a job?”

Xu Qingyi froze for a moment.

That remark stung her pride a little.

The moment Shen Yaoyao saw her, her brows furrowed. “What are you doing here?”

Xu Qingyi smiled, sometimes silence was more infuriating than words.

Shen Yaoyao couldn’t just let it go. She was more distressed about it than he was and glared at Xu Qingyi with extreme hostility. “Do you even know he’s allergic to pineapple?!”

Xu Qingyi was momentarily stunned, then remembered how he had coldly insisted on throwing away the pineapple Swiss roll she had given him.

So, it was because of an allergy.

Shen Yaoyao turned to grab her bag, pulling out an allergy pill and shaking one into her palm before handing it to Shen Yanzhou.

Shen Yanzhou didn’t take it, so Shen Yaoyao grabbed his hand and shoved it in. “Or do you want me to feed it to you?”

“Have you forgotten how you barely made it back from death’s door last time? And you still dared to eat it!”

Xu Qingyi stood there, listening to Shen Yaoyao’s words, and could clearly deduce that their past relationship had indeed been far from ordinary.

If it weren’t for deep love, who would carry the other person’s allergy medication with them?

Standing there, she suddenly felt a little superfluous, an outsider who couldn’t possibly fit into their dynamic.

Shen Yaoyao barged in without hesitation, and Shen Yanzhou moved to stop her.

Xu Qingyi felt it was time for her to leave. It was quite cold, so she turned and walked into the night, not immediately hailing a cab.

Shen Yanzhou watched her silently, his gaze dark.

Xu Qingyi pushed past him and pulled open the door.

He blocked it before it could close and followed her inside.

Xu Qingyi didn’t stop him. She pressed the elevator button and finally heard him say, “Shen Yaoyao has never stayed here.”

Xu Qingyi smiled. “Oh.”

Then, with some curiosity, she asked, “How many years were you two together?”

Shen Yanzhou remained silent.

When the elevator arrived, she stepped out and turned to block him from following.

Thinking back to what had just happened, she couldn’t help feeling a little irritated.

“Why didn’t you say you were allergic?” She looked at him. “Did you do it on purpose to make me feel guilty and stay away?”

But the elevator doors closed and descended before she could finish.

Her words stuck in her throat. She wanted to say that if he was upset, she could give him a couple of days before reaching out again.

Xu Qingyi knew this feeling all too well. When she was particularly angry, she hated it most when others tried to approach her. But if they let her calm down first, then came to reason with her or apologize, she was much more likely to accept it.

If he didn’t finish speaking, then so be it, they could talk another day.

She returned to Room 601. Just as she was about to close the door, Shen Yanzhou suddenly appeared, bracing it open while panting heavily.
