Savage Kiss - Chapter 42
Why was he here too?
On the same route, she wondered… had Shen Yanzhou figured out what her profession really was?
Xu Qingyi hurried back to her room and checked her phone, only to find that Shen Yanzhou hadn’t contacted her.
Then, in the next second, she suddenly realized, there was no signal at all?
What kind of place was this?
Standing on the island, Shen Yanzhou squinted slightly against the sea breeze as he watched her retreat.
He pulled out a satellite phone and dialed a number.
As soon as the call connected, Zhou Shengjing laughed, “Brother Zhou, aren’t you on vacation? Miss me already?”
Shen Yanzhou rested one hand on his hip and took two steps back with the receding tide. “Who booked Tian Island?”
Zhou Shengjing teased, “Why do you care? Looking to lose your virginity too? I can send someone your way!”
“Those folks next door aren’t exactly clean, they’re into some wild stuff. Not your scene.”
Shen Yanzhou cut him off. “Cut the bullshit.”
Zhou Shengjing immediately sobered up. “It’s the members of the Quan Summit.”
The Quan Summit, true to its name, was an exclusive circle of elites at the pinnacle of power and wealth.
When these people wanted to unwind, they had to get far away from the capital. International waters were their playground, and “Tian Island” was a renowned resort… the obvious choice.
Shen Yanzhou pressed, “How many yachts? What are their registration numbers?”
Zhou Shengjing sounded puzzled. “Just one. Bro, did I mess something up? You suddenly taking an interest in business is freaking me out.”
Shen Yanzhou hung up.
He glanced up at the Yacht S05, his brow furrowing slightly.
“Boss!” Liang Fanglin had been running around like an excited kid with a new toy ever since he got off the yacht. “Already cozying up with Miss Xu? You just got here, satellite calls aren’t cheap, you know.”
“Huh?” Liang Fanglin noticed the yacht nearby. “Didn’t Tian Island already have a group of tourists on another yacht? There’s another one now?”
There were only two islands. They had booked one, while the other had been occupied early that morning by a group of wealthy-looking men, accompanied by plenty of women.
Was this new yacht also full of women?
Liang Fanglin clicked his tongue. “Rich people really have no limits. Don’t they worry about dying from overindulgence?”
Annoyed, Shen Yanzhou shot him a glare. “Go grill your damn chicken.”
Liang Fanglin theatrically covered his crotch. “Bro, your tastes are too-”
“Get lost.”
…
Xu Qingyi had just returned to her room when the yacht steward called everyone to the dining hall for dinner.
The design team consisted of ten women, varying in height and build.
The steward had assigned each of them a number… Xu Qingyi was No. 7.
After dinner, the steward announced, “We’ve booked the natural pool at the resort island next door, but there are quite a few of us, so we’ll split into two groups. Numbers 2, 4, 6, and 7 will go first. The rest can stay and chat for now.”
As they disembarked, Xu Qingyi asked the steward, “Why is there no signal here?”
She remembered there had been signal the last time she went out to sea with Shen Yanzhou and the others.
The steward pretended not to hear. “Watch your step! Head that way… see the ‘Tian Island’ sign?”
One of the girls in their group gasped. “Wow, the company really went all out this time?”
As night fell, the lights on Tian Island illuminated the area, transforming it into a dazzling palace on the sea.
Xu Qingyi couldn’t help but think, how much had Ke Yan spent to get her this gig?
The four of them walked along the beach, and Xu Qingyi realized their group consisted of the most conventionally attractive women.
The remaining women on the yacht included some who appeared to be married.
The steward led them to the entrance, where someone came out to greet them. The steward stopped. “Just follow him inside.”
Xu Qingyi was about to enter the electronic gate of the front hall when a strong force yanked her back from behind.
She turned around, it was Shen Yanzhou.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
Xu Qingyi struggled slightly. “Let go. I need to go in.”
Shen Yanzhou’s expression darkened. “Do you even know what kind of place this is before barging in?”
Xu Qingyi replied matter-of-factly, “I’m here for work.”
Shen Yanzhou’s expression shifted.
“What kind of work?” he pressed directly.
Xu Qingyi pursed her lips, gave him a faint glance, and made no move to answer, stepping toward the gate again.
Once more, he pulled her back. “I asked what kind of work. Can’t you say?”
Xu Qingyi took a deep breath. “Our relationship hasn’t reached that point yet.”
He always seemed overly eager to know everything about her, and it made her uncomfortable.
Shen Yanzhou watched as her attitude cooled. “This is international waters. Do you understand what that means?”
“You were perfectly fine sitting on that yacht, but the moment you step off, anything could happen.”
Xu Qingyi: “My boss wouldn’t harm me.”
“And I would?” Shen Yanzhou’s brows furrowed tightly.
She pressed her lips together.
“Let’s talk after I come out. My colleagues have already gone in…”
“You sure you’ll even make it out,” Shen Yanzhou said coldly.
The more Xu Qingyi listened, the more baffled she became.
Instead, Shen Yanzhou asked, “Give me your ID details and your colleagues’. Names, ages, professions. Be thorough.”
Professions again.
Xu Qingyi didn’t want to tell him.
Seeing her uncooperative expression, Shen Yanzhou didn’t overthink it and simply remarked, “Can’t say? Something shady?”
Xu Qingyi let out a self-deprecating laugh. “Exactly. Something shady.”
Shen Yanzhou studied her, she truly didn’t trust him at all.
“What are you doing?!” Xu Qingyi thought he would just leave, but instead, he grabbed her firmly and forcibly dragged her toward the “Heart Island” sign.
Uncle Pang, Liang Fanglin, and several other mechanics she didn’t recognize were all there.
Shen Yanzhou directly ordered Liang Fanglin to keep an eye on her.
Then he turned and left.
Liang Fanglin looked surprised. “Miss Xu, what are you doing here?”
Xu Qingyi, holding a mask, didn’t look pleased. “What’s that ‘Tian Island’ over there for?”
Liang Fanglin grinned like a gossip. “Ever heard of the Quan Summit? A bunch of big bosses come here to ‘vacation’, specifically to play around.”
Obviously. “Who vacations without playing around?”
Liang Fanglin coughed. “Playing with women.”
Xu Qingyi’s frown deepened.
Liang Fanglin: “Hey, don’t misunderstand! This is Heart Island… a mental retreat. The boss’s private spot. Brother Zhou has a good relationship with the boss, so we get to tag along! We’re very proper!”
Shen Yanzhou called Zhou Shengjing a second time. “Three girls just went in. Tell them to send them out, or I’ll make sure they’re front-page news tomorrow.”
What could Zhou Shengjing do? Comply, of course!
He immediately called the person in charge at Tian Island tonight. “Did three girls who aren’t from your yacht just go in? Don’t mess around, let them go… This is international waters, bro, not no-man’s-land. I’ll be held responsible!”
When Shen Yanzhou returned, Xu Qingyi was nowhere in sight.
Liang Fanglin pointed in a direction.
Xu Qingyi stood there, trying to contact someone on her phone.
“No signal in international waters,” Shen Yanzhou said, handing her his satellite phone.
She didn’t take it.
“I’m going back,” she said, heading toward the Yacht S05.
Shen Yanzhou called after her, “Did you come alone, or… What exactly does your boss do?”
Xu Qingyi was particularly sensitive when he asked about her profession, subconsciously afraid of being looked down upon.
She took a few steps, only for Shen Yanzhou to grab her wrist once more and pull her back.
