Savage Kiss - Chapter 30
Shen Yanzhou was sound asleep or rather, she had taken control of her dream, willing him not to wake up.
He had only stirred slightly when she fell onto him earlier, and now he remained deep in slumber, unresponsive to her touch.
Xu Qingyi had intended to get up from him, but he seemed like a magnet with an inexplicable pull.
Irresponsibly, she thought to herself, since this was just a dream, would it really matter if she kissed him?
Her body longed to be close to him, needed him, just for a little while.
At first, Xu Qingyi restrained herself, pressing only light kisses along Shen Yanzhou’s neck.
Slowly, she moved to his Adam’s apple.
Had he taken a shower after she fell asleep last night? He smelled faintly fragrant, clean and refreshing.
Like an anteater that had tasted sweetness, she wanted more after just a little. Finally, her lips found his.
Xu Qingyi had always thought Shen Yanzhou’s lips were beautifully shaped. They looked thin but felt full and textured when kissed.
If he weren’t so good-looking, perhaps she could have restrained herself even if her skin hunger acted up around him. So, it wasn’t entirely her fault, right?
They were too good to resist, and she was far from satisfied.
Shen Yanzhou seemed to stir slightly, his eyes cracking open for a brief moment to look at her before closing again.
Xu Qingyi paused for only a fraction of a second, meeting his gaze fleetingly before shutting her eyes once more.
And continued kissing him.
Before the intruder had broken in last night, she had already changed into her sleepwear, a nightgown. Sleeping naked, she felt Shen Yanzhou’s large hand land on her waist the instant it touched her.
The rhythm gradually shifted under his control.
The kiss grew long and deep, teetering on the edge of overwhelming desire.
Xu Qingyi suddenly didn’t want this dream to end. Since the last time, she hadn’t had any release, and her work had been suffering as a result.
Just as the thought crossed her mind, her eyes flew open.
Staring at Shen Yanzhou’s face mere inches away, she still questioned for a moment whether this was real or a dream, her gaze darting over his features.
“Shen Yanzhou?”
The overwhelming sensation told her this was no dream. The next second, she shoved him away, rolled off him onto the floor, and bolted.
Xu Qingyi didn’t even know how she managed to gather her things, wash her face, or throw on her trench coat.
By the time she slung her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her small suitcase to leave, Shen Yanzhou was still on the floor, his expression drowsy but unmistakably frustrated and restless.
She wasn’t faring much better, in fact, she was worse off, given her condition.
This state was like being sick, with the medicine already in her mouth, only to spit it out.
Xu Qingyi could only slam the door behind her and leave.
She didn’t stop to catch her breath until she had hurried five hundred meters away from the repair shop.
She sent Shen Yanzhou a message: [Thanks for letting me stay.]
Shen Yanzhou replied instantly with just a single period.
Most hotels had checkout times around 2 PM, so she didn’t plan to ask about room availability this early.
Breakfast first.
The roadside stalls were too cold, and the only place open for dine-in this early was a seaside restaurant.
When Ma Xu spotted her approaching, he looked surprised. “Back to your hometown?”
Xu Qingyi smiled politely, offering no further explanation as she ordered breakfast.
The owner even brought her a complimentary drink.
Ma Xu stepped outside for a smoke and called Shen Yanzhou.
The moment the call connected, the other end was already laced with irritation: “Disturbing someone’s sweet dreams this early in the morning, why don’t you go dig for coal in Africa with that kind of enthusiasm? No wonder you’re single.”
Ma Xu: ?
Wait, bro… “Says the guy who’s also single?”
“Xu Qingyi is having breakfast here. She mentioned going back to her hometown for a blind date. Are you keeping her or not?”
There was silence on the other end for two or three seconds, followed by the sound of fabric rustling, and soon after, the sound of a door closing.
That was quick.
Ma Xu raised an eyebrow and hung up the phone, then turned to instruct the kitchen to prepare Shen Yanzhou’s breakfast.
Xu Qingyi was killing time, enjoying the free air conditioning, and hadn’t decided where to go next, so she ate slowly.
Her gaze wandered aimlessly out the window, and when she spotted Shen Yanzhou, she froze.
Then she buried her head in her food, hoping he wouldn’t see her.
She really thought it had all been a dream earlier, something no one would believe if she tried to explain.
But Shen Yanzhou sat down directly across from her.
He wasn’t wearing the same clothes as yesterday. His outfit was clean but casual, generously described as Japanese-style layering, less generously as a complete mess, saved only by his good looks.
Shen Yanzhou’s breakfast arrived quickly.
He glanced at the golden fried egg and immediately called Ma Xu out: “Did the chef fall asleep? Change this to a soft-boiled egg.”
Ma Xu put on an apologetic smile and dutifully apologized, “Sorry, Brother Zhou! We’ll get that changed right away!”
Just as he was about to take the fried egg away, Ma Xu looked at Xu Qingyi. “Miss Xu, would you mind eating this fried egg for me? It’s on the house.”
Everything in their restaurant was expensive. Xu Qingyi hadn’t ordered the fried egg, though she’d been craving one.
Ma Xu set it down in front of her. “Consider it helping the chef avoid a bad review. Thanks!”
Xu Qingyi: “…”
After Ma Xu left, she noticed Shen Yanzhou staring at her.
Out of nowhere, he asked, “You’re going back to your hometown?”
She was confused. What hometown?
The next second, Xu Qingyi suddenly grew wary. He inexplicably knew a lot about her, could he also…
“Do you know where my hometown is?”
Did he also know about her family situation?
Her family… Xu Qingyi had always felt it was a festering wound of shame, something tattered and broken that made her feel inferior, suffocating.
She worked and saved money desperately, all to have the confidence to completely change her background.
In just two seconds, her face had paled slightly.
Shen Yanzhou studied her for a moment before replying calmly, “How would I know?”
She finally swallowed the bite of food in her mouth, then slowly sipped from her cup to steady herself.
“I thought you were going back. Your apartment won’t be fixed for a few days, and you can’t stay in a hotel, everything around here is expensive,” Shen Yanzhou said between bites.
That was true.
Luxury hotels cost thousands per night. If the apartment took ten days to repair, that would be at least ten thousand.
She couldn’t afford that.
Shen Yanzhou casually suggested, “If you don’t mind, you can stay on my yacht at noon. I’m not using it lately.”
“At night, you can go back to the repair shop. I’ll stay at Liang Fanglin’s place.”
Xu Qingyi stayed silent because she had no reason to keep troubling him.
She’d seen the yacht in his social media posts, it wasn’t cheap. It looked so new she was afraid she might damage it.
After a long pause, she asked, “Any conditions?”
Shen Yanzhou paused mid-bite, trying hard to think of a condition that would make her feel less indebted.
They locked eyes for a moment before she looked back down at her fried egg.
“Pay rent. Seventy a day,” Shen Yanzhou said.
Xu Qingyi was a penny-pincher. She was happy to earn money through her own efforts, and equally happy, even eager to use money to solve problems.
Xu Qingyi: “Are you talking about the yacht or the repair shop room?”
Shen Yanzhou: “Then let’s make it one-forty for both.”
She was calculating in her mind, “If I choose to stay on the yacht at night too, would it only cost seventy a day?”
