Running Away While Pregnant with the Villain’s Child - Chapter 25
A gentle kiss, scented with jasmine.
As Luo Xingran felt this kiss, she felt as if she had kissed a cloud.
It was a kiss carrying the fragrance of jasmine. Luo Xingran felt herself falling onto a soft, fluffy cloud. Her face flushed red, and she didn’t dare look up at Pei Junzhuo.
“Do you hate it?” Pei Junzhuo whispered tenderly against Luo Xingran’s ear.
Hiding in Pei Junzhuo’s arms, Luo Xingran shook her head slightly, still not daring to look at her.
“Have you confirmed your heart’s desire?” Pei Junzhuo asked again. Luo Xingran didn’t answer, feeling a bit at a loss.
“Then shall we try again?” Pei Junzhuo wrapped one arm completely around her and used the other hand to tilt Luo Xingran’s chin up.
Another gentle kiss followed, carrying a hint of the night breeze’s coolness. Luo Xingran’s head felt dizzy and heavy; it was as if she weren’t standing on solid ground.
What was happening? Luo Xingran clutched her chest, looking at Pei Junzhuo. For a fleeting moment, she felt as if she had seen love personified. It was a flower—a pure white, beautiful, and fragrant jasmine.
“I think I like you. Not just as a friend.” As she said this, Luo Xingran’s eyes lit up. “I don’t know much about the conventional rules of love people talk about. But if it’s spending the coming days with you, then I will look forward to every single day.”
Though there was shyness on her face when she spoke, her gaze and movements were full of determination. Clearly, she had completely fallen in love.
Hearing this, Pei Junzhuo was once again struck by Luo Xingran’s confession. The same person, the same words, the same scene—yet different circumstances still made her heart flutter.
“Me too,” Pei Junzhuo said, pulling her into her arms and planting another soft kiss.
The scene alone was stunning. The sight of Luo Xingran and Pei Junzhuo embracing and kissing could even serve as a deceptive trailer for a TV drama.
The only one “shattered” here was the Little Heavenly Dao, currently in the form of a kitten.
She watched the two of them, thinking about the plot she had already written: the fact that Luo Xingran would get pregnant and have to “run away with the ball” (flee while pregnant).
The good news: Luo Xingran wouldn’t have to carry the child of that idiot, Li Dan.
The bad news: Luo Xingran must get pregnant and give birth.
Little Heavenly Dao was extremely worried. What was she supposed to do?! If she really made Luo Xingran conceive Pei Junzhuo’s child, her energy might literally explode. The consequence of such an explosion would be that she might remain a kitten forever. That would be equivalent to withdrawing from the competition to become the Heavenly Dao.
Was it worth doing this for these two?
Little Heavenly Dao hesitated, her pink paws patting the floor. She was agitated because she was actually considering it. She used to never even include such high-risk matters on her list of considerations! What was wrong with her? Little Heavenly Dao couldn’t understand what was going on in her own head.
Hey, I should only be thinking about myself!Just kidding, I’m not some kind-hearted little kitty!
Little Heavenly Dao secretly vowed to be more selfish, to ignore the lives of others, and focus only on becoming the Heavenly Dao.
The next second, she was picked up and fell into a warm embrace.
“She’s so good.”
Along with those gentle words, Little Heavenly Dao felt her head being stroked softly.
“This little cat has stayed with us for so long. Do you think she likes us?”
Luo Xingran held Little Heavenly Dao, trying to hide the shyness on her face.
“She hasn’t left for so long, so probably,” Pei Junzhuo replied, not exposing Luo Xingran’s embarrassment but simply following her lead.
What could she do? No matter when she looked at her beloved, she was always so cute.
On one hand, Little Heavenly Dao felt the embrace was very warm; on the other, these “pink bubbles” of romance were doubling her headache. Their relationship was so good—if she really made Luo Xingran carry Li Dan’s child… what if Luo Xingran couldn’t take it and died?
Thinking of this, Little Heavenly Dao’s gaze became serious. That wouldn’t do. Without the Luo family, an idiot like Li Dan wouldn’t be able to become the “Child of Destiny” of this world on his own.
But what if she helped Luo Xingran instead? Her family background was already established, and Pei Junzhuo, as the original villain in the plan, also had a very good family background. If they joined forces, it would be hard for Luo Xingran not to become the Child of Destiny. Although there had never been a female Child of Destiny in previous worlds, what did that matter? If she became the Heavenly Dao, and the Heavenly Dao was female, then a mere Child of Destiny being female was nothing.
However, Little Heavenly Dao decided to observe Luo Xingran a bit more. After all, Li Dan was a ruthless person. If Luo Xingran was just a simple “Holy Mother” type, she definitely wouldn’t be able to beat him.
Recalling the personality she had set for Luo Xingran in her draft, Little Heavenly Dao hesitated. Though she craved the warm embrace, she chose to escape from Luo Xingran’s arms.
“Ah, kitty!” Luo Xingran didn’t expect the cat to slip away the moment her grip loosened slightly. Watching the escaping kitten, Luo Xingran felt a sense of loss; that cat was really adorable.
“You can look at the cat running away in a positive light,” Pei Junzhuo comforted her darling, pulling her into her own arms.
“A positive light?” Luo Xingran was confused.
“Well, at least Xiao Guai won’t be jealous. If you have the scent of another cat on you…”
Pei Junzhuo looked at Luo Xingran with a serious expression, making Luo Xingran immediately realize the gravity of the situation.
“Then I should take a shower before I go see Xiao Guai tonight.”
Luo Xingran became highly alert, deciding to cover up the evidence of her “infidelity” with another cat.
“Hey, Xingran, Shen Yao and I have something to take care of. We need to go home first.” The caller was Tan Nuannuan. Luo Xingran was a bit puzzled but gave a quick response.
Pei Junzhuo wasn’t surprised. She just held Luo Xingran and asked, “Are you tired of playing? Shall we go home?”
“Back to my house first. I need to shower before seeing Xiao Guai,” Luo Xingran said, her mind immediately jumping to her cat.
Seeing Luo Xingran’s attention diverted, Pei Junzhuo could only sigh helplessly. What could she do? This wasn’t the first or second time Xiao Guai had stolen her attention. Over a long period of time, she had already made peace with that “bastard” kitten.
Then, Pei Junzhuo began to calculate what she could use to distract the silly cat. Where the teaser wand was placed, where freeze-dried treats might “randomly” fall from, and how to maximize the temptation of a cat lickable treat.
When Luo Xingran and Pei Junzhuo arrived at the Luo residence, Pei Junzhuo realized she didn’t need to plan that much.
“Xingran is back! Xiao Guai has been waiting for you for a long time.” Mother Luo’s voice came from inside the house. A cat walked out with arrogant little steps to greet them.
“Meow—” It was a long, drawn-out cry.(Why are you just getting back!)
Xiao Guai’s voice was full of dissatisfaction regarding their late return.
When she was ten steps away from the two of them, Xiao Guai’s cry changed.
“Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow!”
Clearly, Xiao Guai had discovered the scent of another on her owner. The rapid-fire meowing made her current mood very easy to identify.
Luo Xingran felt a bit guilty. Pei Junzhuo took a step forward to shield her.
“Meow meow meow meow meow?” Xiao Guai’s cry was full of disdain.(Pei Junzhuo, you’re showing off your ‘girlfriend power’ now?)
Xiao Guai’s blue cat-eyes were full of accusation and speechless frustration toward Pei Junzhuo.
Pei Junzhuo met Xiao Guai’s gaze calmly, even showing a hint of provocation. As a cat, Xiao Guai was speechless; why did her owner act so much like a dog—the animal she hated most! Truly, a cat’s natural enemy is a dog!
Pei Junzhuo knew she would be scolded by Xiao Guai. She took a protective stance and said, “I was the one who took Xingran out to pet other kittens. Xiao Guai, if you’re angry, just be angry at me.”
Xiao Guai was shocked. She sharply extended her claws and scratched the nearby rope several times. I’ll kill Pei Junzhuo! Today, we go down together!
The furious Xiao Guai rushed over, but just as she was about to swipe at Pei Junzhuo’s pant leg, she slammed on the brakes.
“Want some?” Pei Junzhuo pulled a cat treat out from a gap in the doorway. It wasn’t just any treat; it was Xiao Guai’s favorite salmon-flavored lickable.
“Meow!” Xiao Guai cried out, showing her unyielding attitude.
“Meow nicely, and I’ll give it to you.” Pei Junzhuo raised an eyebrow, clearly not intending to let Xiao Guai have her way easily.
“Meow!” Xiao Guai was furious. She glared at this “poop scooper.” You go out and pet other cats behind my back, and now you dare to make demands? Ha! Is she a cat who yields so easily?
“Don’t be like that.” Luo Xingran indeed felt guilty about the outside petting, so she took the treat from Pei Junzhuo’s hand.
“Meow~” Xiao Guai purred with satisfaction, rubbing against Luo Xingran’s hand as she began to eat. Of course, whenever she caught Pei Junzhuo in her peripheral vision, she still gave her a fierce glare.
Watching the familiar scene, a smile appeared on Pei Junzhuo’s face. It had been a long time since she and Luo Xingran had teamed up to “trick” Xiao Guai like this. How nostalgic those times were.
“Xiao Guai is so angry—did you two go out and pet other cats again?” Mother Luo looked at them both with disapproval. “Next time Xiao Guai shreds your bags or pant legs, you’ll have earned it.”
Mother Luo looked at them with mock disdain and then told the butler to give Xiao Guai an extra meal.
Ding-dong! Ding-dong! Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang. Soon after, a servant walked in and delivered a shocking piece of news.
“There is a seven-year-old girl outside. She says she is Mr. Luo’s illegitimate daughter from outside.”
Mother Luo’s face turned instantly black. Luo Xingran and Pei Junzhuo were also left with a head full of question marks.
