Running Away While Pregnant with the Villain’s Child - Chapter 23
“Why is it like this!” Li Dan could not understand why things hadn’t gone at all the way he imagined. He had returned once again to the pitch-black narrow alleyway.
He tried to demand a clear reason, his eyes brimming with rage. Li Dan stared at the little girl in front of him with a ferocious gaze.
“I did what I promised you. As for anything else, what does it have to do with me?” the little girl said with an air of indifference.
Of course, she also didn’t want to admit that she truly hadn’t fully accomplished the things Li Dan had asked for.
“You’re lying, you didn’t do it at all. You didn’t do it at all, and yet you let me suffer in pain for an entire month.”
Li Dan’s expression was savage; the way he glared at the little girl looked as if he wanted to skin her alive.
The little girl could naturally feel the gaze upon her. She looked at him and sneered.
“I’m playing foul? I advise you not to let me shake out all the facts.”
“Why are you standing here perfectly fine in front of me instead of enduring pain in bed right now? Li Dan, do you take me for a fool who doesn’t know the truth?”
“You used painkillers to dull the pain. The chips you offered were discounted, yet you still want a perfect, non-discounted result?”
Clearly unwilling to admit her own mistake, the little girl exposed the “good deeds” Li Dan had done.
“You can’t! How can you say that!”
Hearing this, Li Dan’s face became even more distorted as he hissed and roared, “You are just a half-finished Heavenly Dao! If you do this, you will never become the true Heavenly Dao of this world!”
“You won’t survive, you won’t survive!”
The veins on Li Dan’s face bulged. The expression of the little girl—or rather, the Little Heavenly Dao—completely changed.
Li Dan’s words were nothing short of a curse to her. The reason she had done so many outrageous things was, put simply, to become the true Heavenly Dao.
For the sake of her own selfishness, she had supported Li Dan all the way on his path to becoming the “Child of Destiny.”
As long as Li Dan became the pillar of this world and then declared that she was the true Heavenly Dao, she would become the world’s actual Heavenly Dao.
But now, before Li Dan had even become the true pillar, he had already started acting against her.
The Little Heavenly Dao felt that Li Dan was an ungrateful “white-eyed wolf.” The look she gave him was filled with disappointment.
After the words left his mouth, Li Dan also realized he had truly said the wrong thing.
What he had spoken of was his final trump card for dealing with the Heavenly Dao, and he had actually revealed it now.
At the thought of this, Li Dan’s face turned pale.
He hurriedly contradicted himself, saying, “I was just babbling nonsense. Of course you are the one and only Heavenly Dao, the ruler of this world.”
“I said the wrong thing. You can punish me however you like. Just please don’t let it upset you. I beg of you, Great Heavenly Dao, please be magnanimous.”
As Li Dan spoke, he endured the pain deep in his bones and knelt down, frantically kowtowing to the Little Heavenly Dao.
Looking at Li Dan kowtowing so vigorously, the Little Heavenly Dao did not continue to trust him.
Humans are cunning creatures. The more they speak without thinking, the more it shows they are speaking their true feelings.
If she believed Li Dan’s apology, then she would be the fool.
“If you’re truly sincere, then don’t use painkillers to get through these remaining few days,” the Little Heavenly Dao said, her eyes flickering with a sense of wicked amusement.
Once a person was marked as untrustworthy in her mind, she would not believe them regardless of what they did next.
Li Dan, of course, did not understand this. Thinking he still had a chance to atone, he scrambled away on all fours.
Watching Li Dan leave, the Little Heavenly Dao couldn’t help but spit in disgust. How had she picked up such a piece of scum? If she had known Li Dan was this kind of trash, she would have swapped him for someone else long ago.
However, it wasn’t too late to switch now.
Thinking this, the Little Heavenly Dao decided to go see what Luo Xingran and Pei Junzhuo were up to.
She still felt that these two “variables” were somewhat strange.
She had to admit, she found these two rather interesting.
When she opened her vision to look, the Little Heavenly Dao saw a completely different Pei Junzhuo.
Looking closer, Luo Xingran and Pei Junzhuo had just come off the ice rink. The two were walking toward the food street hand-in-hand. At the beginning, the Little Heavenly Dao remembered what she was there to do.
She conscientiously evaluated whether the two were suitable to be her next “hosts.”
But the further she watched, the more she realized that she…
Completely couldn’t control her own eyes. The Little Heavenly Dao’s eyes were glued to the food in their hands.
“Grilled squid, grilled mutton skewers, meat burgers, bean sprout pancakes, jasmine milk tea…”
Looking at the things in their hands, the Little Heavenly Dao was about to drool.
If choosing them meant she could eat these things, she wouldn’t hesitate for a single second!
Just by watching, she was already nearly lured away by the items in their hands.
That fellow Li Dan, every time he came to beg her, the most he remembered to bring were a few strawberry-flavored candies.
At this thought, the corners of the Little Heavenly Dao’s mouth sank.
Her disdain was beyond words.
With this thought, the Little Heavenly Dao’s mind instantly became active. She transformed into a small white cat and stealthily followed Luo Xingran and Pei Junzhuo.
“Meow, meow, meow.” Seeing that the two were walking and hadn’t noticed her, the Little Heavenly Dao took the initiative to strike.
“It looks like a stray cat.” Luo Xingran looked at the white kitty by her leg, her heart skipping a beat.
“It looks very clean; it’s probably raised by someone nearby.” After examining the fur, Pei Junzhuo analyzed the situation calmly.
Little Heavenly Dao: Damn it! Why are you like this!
