Running a Food Stall to Support My Deceptive Omega - Chapter 39.2
A larger courtyard?
Mu Jinyu thought it over and felt it was tentatively feasible. At worst, it would be like the courtyard she was currently using at home, moving back and forth, busy and active, which was quite convenient.
Since she was going to rent a courtyard, she first decided it should be within or near the night market.
This way, it would be close to her home, and no time would be wasted traveling.
The agent clapped his hands upon hearing this. “That’s perfect. I happen to have two courtyards for rent right in the night market!”
He spread a map of the house distribution in the night market on the table and pointed them out to Mu Jinyu.
Mu Jinyu looked and found that those two houses were exactly on the left and right sides of the courtyard where she lived.
So it was her neighbors who were renting out their houses.
Having lived in the night market for so long, she had never even met her neighbors.
With such a coincidence, Mu Jinyu immediately asked the agent to take her to see the houses.
On the way, the agent told her that these two houses belonged to the same landlord. The requirements were the same: the fennel planted in the courtyard must not be damaged.
The landlord would also send someone daily to take care of the fennel.
If she couldn’t accept this, then they wouldn’t be rented out.
Mu Jinyu didn’t find this requirement excessive. She planned to see the courtyard first; if the fennel didn’t obstruct her movements while working, then there would be no problem.
Returning to the familiar night market, Mu Jinyu specifically called Rong Heng from home to have her accompany her in viewing the houses.
The group of three first arrived at the courtyard on the left.
The layout of the courtyard was identical to Mu Jinyu’s; there wasn’t much to say about that. Mu Jinyu focused on checking various tools in the courtyard for any damage.
Finding no damage, she began to inspect the large patch of fennel garden that was enclosed in the courtyard.
The garden and the kitchen were located on opposite sides—one on the left and one on the right—occupying the space usually used for drying clothes.
It wouldn’t block her path, and she had no clothes to dry there anyway.
Mu Jinyu was satisfied with this courtyard, but she still went to see the one on the right.
She intended to make a comparison, but to her surprise, these two courtyards were exactly the same, even down to the placement of various decorations.
She didn’t know if the landlord had deliberately arranged them this way.
Since that was the case, Mu Jinyu began to discuss the rent for these two courtyards with the agent.
They were unexpectedly cheap. Not only was it a one-month deposit and one month’s rent, but the rent was only one tael of silver per month.
In this way, her financial pressure could be considered small to the point of non-existence.
Without hesitation, she rented both the left and right courtyards, spending four taels of silver.
After renting the courtyards, Mu Jinyu had to worry about finding people to work.
However, she had no more time today; she could only barely squeeze out fifteen to thirty minutes each day to handle these matters.
As for finding laborers, she would have to find time later.
While working with Rong Heng, Mu Jinyu mentioned her plan to hire laborers to help.
Originally, she just thought that since Rong Heng was a member of this household, she should be aware of these things, and she didn’t expect Rong Heng to be able to help her with anything.
But the other, after hearing this, suggested: “Find people of slave status to do the work.”
Upon hearing the words “slave status,” Mu Jinyu suddenly remembered that this world had slavery.
Her mouth hung open, unsure of how she felt.
If she had people of slave status help her with the work, then even if they learned the method of making noodles, it would be of no use. As long as they remained of slave status, they could not escape her control.
She also wouldn’t have to worry about how to handle things if her skills were learned by regular laborers.
Thinking this, Mu Jinyu also felt that finding people of slave status was feasible.
At night, reaching the night market, Mu Jinyu distributed the square wooden tokens to the diners waiting by the small cart.
There were a full two hundred square wooden tokens. The first thirty tokens only had numbers; from the thirty-first token onwards, the time was also engraved.
Every eighty-five tokens represented one time slot. After the diners received their tokens, they only needed to come to her stall at the corresponding time on the token, and they would receive their food without waiting long.
In this way, it prevented the area in front of the cart from becoming overcrowded. It also didn’t waste the customers’ time; they could go and have fun, as long as they remembered to come back at the right time.
There were similar tokens at Rong Heng’s stall, except her tokens were circular, so they wouldn’t get mixed up.
Also because of these tokens, the efficiency of Mu Jinyu and Rong Heng was much higher. They even had time to catch their breath after selling all the food for a particular time slot.
They would no longer be busy for an entire night without even a moment to stretch their stiff bodies.
Thanks to Vendor Li next door, before they even got busy every day, they would be given mutton soup to eat.
Mu Jinyu drank it for several days in a row, feeling warm and energized every day. She worked with great vigor and didn’t feel tired at all!
But she forgot again that she was a Qianyuan, and she had a monthly rut period…
The next morning, Mu Jinyu should have woken up immediately and gone to work.
But her cheeks were flushed, her forehead was damp with moisture, and her body emitted a faint, drifting woody fragrance.
She felt as though she were lying upon the earth, with the scent of soil and the fragrance of green grass surrounding her.
She was covered with many clothes, but none of them were her own.
Her amber eyes were half-open, her gaze unfocused as she looked at the sky, which was so bright it caused a stinging pain, making tears inevitably well up in her eyes.
Her nose twitched slightly, smelling the scent of the clothes on her body; it was a floral fragrance so faint it was almost about to dissipate.
That was a scent familiar to her.
She felt that from the green grass beside her, countless golden, red-and-yellow-mingled brilliant flowers had blossomed.
The emerald-green stalks of the flowers grew straight upward, with flower buds standing only at the very tips.
The flower buds had not yet bloomed, and not a trace of fragrance was released.
Mu Jinyu felt a distress that left her somewhat at a loss. She couldn’t help but hold the clothes on her tightly in her arms, wanting the scent lingering on them to be released a bit more.
But it wasn’t enough; that scent was too faint. No matter how tightly she held them, it still wasn’t enough.
Mu Jinyu’s body was hot enough to burn. The scent of Parasol Wood emanated from her, and her arms tightly encircled the person in her arms as the fragrance enveloped them without mercy.
It seemed to want to plunder.
Rong Heng, who was lying in her arms, woke up immediately, smelling the Parasol Wood scent she didn’t like.
She furrowed her brows, covered her nose, and sat up in disgust.
“Heh.”
Qianyuan were just like this, always unable to stop themselves from emitting such an unpleasant smell.
Rong Heng unceremoniously pinched Mu Jinyu’s burning cheek, wanting to pinch her awake.
To her surprise, Mu Jinyu only moved her head slightly, showing no sign of waking up.
The conscious Rong Heng was not at all afraid of Mu Jinyu’s pheromone scent. Even being enveloped by it without a single gap, she acted as if nothing were wrong, brushing against Mu Jinyu’s eyelashes.
Her eyes were dark as she said hauntingly, “Eating so much mutton, it finally hasn’t gone to waste.”
She had done it on purpose—purposely letting Mu Jinyu eat mutton every night, purposely letting her go to sleep with heat every night.
Day after day, the heat accumulated, finally forcing out her rut period.
Her finger moved to Mu Jinyu’s ear, cupping that fair ear and slowly rubbing it.
Leaning down, her thick, heavy black hair like mud pressed against Mu Jinyu. Her eyes, which were slightly hidden with a deep red, surveyed the person whose forehead had long since been seeped with sweat.
She asked in a soft voice: “Tell me, what do you want?”
Her voice carried a lure as the budding Phoenix-Vibrated Feather slowly unfurled its petals, one by one falling downward and entangling around Mu Jinyu’s fingers.
Her slender, cold-white fingers unceremoniously drifted into the gaps between Mu Jinyu’s fingers, bit by bit interlocking their fingers and pressing Mu Jinyu’s hand firmly against the bed.
She lay prone over Mu Jinyu like a ghost, wanting to control her.
In her sleep, Mu Jinyu shook her head, wanting to break free from the dream of blooming flowers—a dream that seemed beautiful but one she could not wake from.
“Do you want touch, red marks, or kisses?”
Rong Heng smiled, her upturned eyes narrowing slightly, the red mole beneath her eye shimmering. How could she let Mu Jinyu refuse her?
She was simply controlling Mu Jinyu.
For someone who dared to refuse her, there was a punishment.
Rong Heng lowered her head and bit down on Mu Jinyu’s cheek, which was as plump as a peach, continuously exerting force to leave her tooth marks amidst that burning redness.
The tooth marks were slightly circular, hanging clearly on Mu Jinyu’s cheek, as if representing that this person had been branded by her.
The pheromone scent belonging to the Phoenix-Vibrated Feather spilled out, entangling with the scent of Parasol Wood, just like their interlocked hands—blending together like water and milk.
The pheromone scents in the room were mixed into one. Mu Jinyu wanted to envelop Rong Heng with her scent, and Rong Heng was also enveloping Mu Jinyu with her own.
But, the scent of a Kunze was fatally attractive to a Qianyuan; its power was no less than that of an aphrodisiac incense.
In her dream, Mu Jinyu only held the countless clothes in her arms tightly, wanting to rely on the scent in the clothes to give herself solace.
Outside the dream, her entire person became damp. Her back was soaked with sweat, and the water droplets on her forehead slowly slid down, disappearing into her hairline.
She was too hot; her body temperature was still steaming, roasting the last shred of her sanity.
Rong Heng knew what would happen next, but she still buried her head in the crook of Mu Jinyu’s neck. While emitting her pheromone scent and moving over Mu Jinyu’s body in a manner that could be called teasing, she bit down on Mu Jinyu’s neck.
A muffled groan sounded, and a hint of metallic, bloody sweetness flooded into her mouth.
The two red moles beneath Rong Heng’s eyes became even more enchanting. She was smiling, seemingly very satisfied with Mu Jinyu’s reaction.
Mu Jinyu, trapped in her nightmare, was startled awake by the pain. The corners of her eyes were flushed, and there was a glimmer of water in them.
This made her pair of golden-honey eyes look like the moon in the water—something to be seen, but not captured.
Her hands suddenly encircled Rong Heng’s waist. With just a slight exertion of force, their positions were instantly reversed.
Mu Jinyu pressed Rong Heng against the bed, her fingers sliding into her black hair and her palm stroking her cheek.
The unconscious Mu Jinyu lacked her usual gentleness. Her hand used heavy force, turning the person’s head to one side.
Revealing the slightly reddened gland on her fair neck.
Mu Jinyu, who had experienced marking once before, seemed very experienced as she lowered her head. Yet she still stumbled slightly before pressing her lips to Rong Heng’s gland.
She did not hesitate and bit down on this spot with great force!
“Ugh.” Rong Heng’s lips pressed into a straight line, her dark hair spreading across the entire bed. Her eyes were as black as ink, and her face was as white as paper.
Yet her whole person was as soft as if she had no bones. She used both hands to encircle Mu Jinyu’s neck, her hands stroking her head, seemingly encouraging her to continue marking, to continue releasing a large amount of pheromone to possess her.
But from her mouth came words like those of a poisonous snake.
“Driven by passion.”
“When you wake up, how will you face me?”
“Jinyu, Qizhu.”
