Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 25
Mo Wang didn’t even glance at him, her gaze fixed on the bruises covering Mo Li’s face, her pale eyes unmoving.
Luo Licheng provocatively pressed the hot barrel of the gun against Mo Li’s head. The metal, still scorching from the recently fired bullet, singed and severed a strand of her hair.
“What’s wrong? Feeling sorry for her? Then raise your hands, step back, and tell your people to get lost.”
Mo Wang finally spared him a glance. “Their ropes have already been retracted. How about you move aside and let them leave through the door behind you?”
Luo Licheng grew tense, snarling, “Then tell them to get the hell back down! Don’t even think about coming near me.”
Mo Wang signaled to the people behind her with a look. “Didn’t you hear? Boss Luo wants you to go down.”
Without hesitation, the men leaped from the high-rise window, devoid of any safety gear, not once looking back.
Soon, a series of dull thuds echoed from outside, followed by waves of horrified screams.
Realizing what the sounds meant, Mo Li’s eyes widened in disbelief. Ignoring the gun pressed to her head, she struggled violently.
Luo Licheng was also stunned, his face ashen.
Mo Wang, however, remained unruffled. “How wonderful. Boss Luo now has a few more lives on his conscience.” Her eyes shifted coolly. “So, with things having escalated to this point, how do you plan to resolve it, Young Master Luo?”
She waited quietly for his response.
Mo Li had understood her intentions from the start. Once lives were lost and in such a public manner, there would be no peaceful resolution. Luo Licheng’s plan to leverage the kidnapping for profit would inevitably crumble to dust.
But as the instigator who had urged the four men to their deaths, Mo Wang would not escape unscathed either. It was a mutually destructive strategy.
Mo Li couldn’t care less about Luo Licheng’s fate, but she refused to let Mo Wang carry the weight of four deaths for the rest of her life, tainted by sin and haunted by vengeful spirits.
“Have you lost your mind, Mo Wang?” Mo Li wished she could shoot Luo Licheng on the spot and flee with Mo Wang to the ends of the earth.
Mo Wang didn’t even blink. “Don’t overreact.”
Her gaze drifted to the restraints binding Mo Li. She winked and flashed a playful grin.
Only for a moment, then her expression instantly reverted to its usual cold detachment. Mo Li almost thought she had imagined it, but then she heard a soft click from the chains. A slight tug confirmed that the electromagnetic lock securing the electronic shackles had been disengaged, leaving behind nothing but fragile plastic handcuffs and binding rings.
She glanced sideways and noticed that Luo Liming had also realized it, subtly signaling from behind his back that the locks were open.
Luo Licheng, frantic and indecisive, remained completely unaware that his hostage was slipping from his control.
With the gun still pressed to her head, it clearly wasn’t the right moment to attempt an escape.
Calmly, Mo Wang drew the holster from her leg. Luo Licheng immediately panicked, aiming the gun at her before swinging it back toward Mo Li and Luo Liming. “Take another step, and I’ll shoot!”
But Mo Wang simply released her grip, letting the holster clatter to the ground in full view, and raised her hands.
“Since neither of us can escape this, why not grant me one last wish?”
Luo Licheng eyed her warily. “What trick are you trying to pull?”
“Madam Li once showed me kindness,” Mo Wang said softly. “I want to know how she died.”
Seeing that she no longer posed much of a threat, Luo Licheng relaxed slightly, letting out a cold, self-deprecating laugh. “Did her a favor? That heartless woman only ever cared about herself. Her condescending gaze was always mocking those she deemed beneath her, every single moment.”
“You’re talking nonsense,” Luo Liming couldn’t hold back, retorting angrily. “Mother just has high standards and can’t tolerate flaws.”
“I judge actions, not intentions, and I don’t really mind either way,” Mo Wang remarked, stroking his chin.
Mo Li listened quietly. She had heard of the original wife of the Luo family’s patriarch, Madam Li. By the time Mo Li returned to the Mo family, Madam Li had already gone abroad. Rumor had it she was a noble and discerning Omega, highly regarded in their social circle.
“Can’t tolerate flaws.” Luo Licheng threw his head back and laughed, but as he laughed, two trails of tears streamed from the corners of his eyes, wild and bitter.
“I was born lowly, the very flaw in her eyes,” he said, dredging up old memories and laying bare the most painful parts of his past, if only to prove his point or perhaps to find an excuse for himself.
“Before I turned four, the freshest thing I ever ate was the milk from my mother, who was just as lowly and flawed as me.”
“I don’t remember what it tasted like. To maintain her figure and make a living by dating others, she only ever fed me a few hurried mouthfuls. Of course…” Luo Licheng smiled bitterly, “it was also to save on formula costs.”
“After that, I ate leftover food from the nightclub, fried rice with cigarette butts mixed in. Occasionally, I’d also get slapped by the Alphas she brought back. Luckily, she was pretty and clever, always able to coax them with sweet talk and lead them to bed, so it didn’t happen too often.”
Luo Licheng’s gaze drifted away, settling on an empty spot in the corner of the room. “I don’t blame her. What choice did she have? For a lower-class Omega trying to survive and raise a child alone, it was too hard. Every time I remember her covered in bruises, her legs trembling and bleeding, I feel like I’m nothing but a burden. I should’ve just flowed back into the womb with that filthy blood.”
“But every time, she pretended nothing had happened. She’d endure the pain, take a bath, and then hold me while telling me stories. My favorite was ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes,’ and it was her favorite to tell, too. She said everyone thought the emperor was ridiculous, but if you thought about it, even without clothes, no one dared to question him, right?”
“Mom wasn’t educated and only knew a few characters. She’d often stroke my brows and eyes, saying my father was an Alpha, and she was an Omega, so I’d surely be one of the two. If I presented as an Alpha, I should work hard to protect her. If I presented as an Omega, I should study well and never have to rely on an Alpha. We could depend on each other to get by.”
Luo Licheng’s expression grew nostalgic. “Back then, I was still young and didn’t know much. Without anything to compare it to, I didn’t think that kind of life was so bad. I wouldn’t have minded staying like that with her forever.”
“But after five years of secretly dating my father, the fact that she had given birth to me in secret was finally discovered by that woman.”
