Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 10
Mo Li grabbed Mo Wang’s arm in disbelief. “Have you lost your mind? Kidnapping someone from the Lin family?”
Mo Wang waved her off. “What’s the big deal? Didn’t you kidnap someone just the other day?”
Mo Li didn’t let go. “It’s not the same. I kidnapped a lackey. She’s the sister of the Lin family’s matriarch, Bai Wu!”
Growing impatient, Mo Wang shook off her grip. “I’m not going to do anything to her. I’m having you return her. Call Zhu Wen over first, or the Lin family will get suspicious when they come to pick her up.”
Mo Li was puzzled. “It wasn’t you who kidnapped her?”
Mo Wang replied calmly, “It was me.”
“After teaching her a lesson, of course, she has to be returned.”
With that, she walked away to speak with her secretary, Zuo An, ignoring Mo Li further.
Since the plan was to return the woman, Mo Li felt slightly relieved and made a call to summon Zhu Wen.
Zhu Wen arrived quickly. Though he usually worked as an enforcer, he had never been in such a high-stakes situation. The moment he stepped into the room, he froze, not daring to make a sound. After a long pause, he tentatively asked Mo Li, “Boss, aren’t we law-abiding citizens? We don’t do illegal stuff, right?”
Before Mo Li could respond, a commotion erupted behind them.
Mo Wang abruptly said to Zuo An, “Punch me in the face. Hard.”
Zuo An hesitated for a moment, then rolled his shoulders and threw a fierce punch that landed squarely on Mo Wang’s left cheek.
“What are you doing?” Mo Li rushed over, turning Mo Wang’s shoulder to face her. Blood was already trickling from her nose and mouth, unstoppable.
Mo Li prevented Mo Wang from tilting her head back to stop the bleeding and turned to order Zhu Wen, “Quick, bring a basin of cold water.”
But Mo Wang interjected, “No, just tissues. If I wash it off, this punch will have been for nothing.”
Mo Li frowned deeply. “Have you gone mad?”
Mo Wang grabbed some tissues and gently dabbed her cheek, leaving behind faint, dried bloodstains.
“I’m not mad. The Lin family holds grudges and seeks revenge for the slightest offense. If Zuo An hadn’t hit me, they would have done it themselves later.”
Mo Li fell silent for a moment.
“All for Mom’s 20 million?”
Mo Wang replied vaguely, “Yeah, money can make the devil push the millstone.”
In that short time, her face had swollen completely, adorned with mottled bloodstains, a truly dramatic sight.
After checking the effect in a mirror, Mo Wang nodded in satisfaction. “When they arrive, tell them you rescued Bai Wu from me and, to teach me a lesson, punched me yourself.”
No sooner had she spoken than the sound of the front door being kicked open echoed into the room.
Mo Wang quickly covered her face, leaned back on the sofa, and turned her head stiffly toward the window, perfectly mimicking the sulky demeanor of someone who had just been beaten.
A flurry of footsteps halted outside, followed by a loud crash as the room’s door was violently flung open, hit the wall, and collapsed along with its frame.
From behind a group of burly bodyguards in black suits emerged a slender, petite Omega. Her tone was light, but her eyes were fixed coldly on Bai Wu on the sofa, devoid of any warmth.
“Good evening, everyone.”
It was Mo Wang who responded first. “To what do we owe the honor, Director Lin Qianying? I am both honored and terrified.”
Lin Qianying’s gaze shifted and locked onto Mo Wang. Mo Li, sensing her expression darken even further, quickly stood up to block her line of sight.
“Fortunately, Miss Bai is unharmed. I’ve already dealt with Mo Wang. Another day, I will personally visit to apologize.”
When Lin Qianying’s gaze shifted to Mo Li, it took on a faintly mocking kindness. She bent slightly, offering a perfunctory bow.
“Not at all. We owe it all to President Mo for stepping in to help. The Lin family will remember this favor.”
After speaking, she seemed unable to wait any longer. She sidestepped Mo Li and walked toward Bai Wu, who lay collapsed on the sofa, carefully examining her.
Seeing that the woman truly had no visible injuries, Lin Qianying straightened up, hooked an arm under Bai Wu’s shoulder, and pulled her into an embrace.
Her tone was casual, as if making small talk: “They say every debt must be repaid. Mo Wang, you’re clever, but you owe me twice.”
She slowly raised two fingers. “First, the engagement agreement between my family and the Luo and Li families, wasn’t it ruined because of you? Though my fiancé wasn’t exactly impressive either.”
She lowered one finger. “This time, you laid hands on someone from the Lin family, my aunt.”
Mo Wang turned her face away and sighed. “Keeping such a detailed account, you really are petty.”
Lin Qianying shook her head. “I just don’t like the look of you.”
She grinned. “So, that punch to your face can count as repayment for the engagement matter.”
Mo Wang didn’t respond. The uninjured side of her face was pale and stern.
In the blink of an eye, before anyone could react, Lin Qianying’s right hand slipped into her coat, drew a silenced pistol, aimed at Mo Wang, released the safety, and pulled the trigger.
Bang.
Even with the silencer, the gunshot echoed loudly through the room.
A patch of red slowly bloomed on Mo Wang’s left side. Lin Qianying smiled triumphantly and withdrew her arm.
“And for laying a hand on her, you need to learn your lesson properly.”
No one had expected Lin Qianying to suddenly draw a gun, nor had they imagined she would actually dare to shoot someone.
By the time Mo Li reacted, she had already grabbed Lin Qianying by the collar and slammed her hard against the wall.
Mo Wang’s blood, mingled with her pheromones, slowly seeped out, tugging at every one of Mo Li’s nerves. As an Alpha, she felt an almost instinctual urge to protect the Omega she had just marked. Mo Li had never felt such rage.
“How dare you!”
Her eyes wide with fury, she roared the words repeatedly, her arm tightening until Lin Qianying’s feet nearly left the ground.
The two bodyguards at the door moved to rush in but were stopped by Lin Qianying’s raised hand.
“How could we raise a hand against our great benefactor?”
Unconcerned about her own predicament, she taunted, “Mo Wang, you really have a way with training dogs.”
Mo Li grew even angrier. She raised her hand and slapped Lin Qianying hard across the face.
Just as she was about to throw another punch, Mo Wang’s groan of protest came from behind.
“Stop. I’m not going to die.”
Mo Li released her grip almost instantly, rushing back to Mo Wang’s side.
Mo Wang pressed on her wound, her forehead beaded with cold sweat. She slowly curled forward, lifting a bloodstained hand to rest on Mo Li’s shoulder, her voice reduced to a whisper.
“If you take me to the hospital now, I might not die. But if you keep fighting, it’s hard to say.”
Mo Li made her decision instantly. Suppressing her boiling rage, she wrapped one arm around Mo Wang’s shoulders and the other under her knees, lifting her as gently as possible before striding out of the smoke-filled mansion without a backward glance.
Zhu Wen and Zuo An hurried after them.
The two bodyguards turned to Lin Qianying for instructions, but she ignored them. Wiping the blood from her lips and spitting out a broken tooth, she staggered to her feet.
She gently drew Bai Wu into her embrace, closed her eyes, and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
