Revenge Comes with Interest - Chapter 85
The two shared their love all through the night. The love that began with fluttering excitement surged like a storm, eventually leading them to ecstasy and a peak of bliss.
After sharing her love with Terran, Leah was swept by a strange emotion. She had once thought that physical relationships were merely a pursuit of pleasure and held no great meaning. But as their hearts and bodies became one, she felt her love for him deepen even further. It was as if a sense of overflowing joy and solidified trust had been born.
It’s mysterious. I feel like Terran has completely become my man.
She wondered if he felt the same way. It wasn’t just about possessing each other’s bodies; it was as if she had realized the true depth of their emotions through this physical communion.
Leah did not want to open her eyes. She wanted to savor the small waves of delight rippling through her body a little longer. However, at the touch of his hand gently stroking her hair, she reflexively opened her eyes. She turned her head toward Terran.
“Are you awake?”
“I never slept.”
At Terran’s words, Leah’s face turned red. She felt embarrassed, as if she had asked a question he already knew the answer to. In times like this, the best move was to burrow deep into his embrace.
Terran gathered her into his chest, as if he had been waiting for her to snuggle in like a cozy rabbit.
“It feels like a dream. Being with you all night long.”
“It’s not a dream.”
Leah’s heart ached at Terran’s words. Not long ago, they had been desperately searching for each other in pain. Because the road to their reunion had not been easy, many emotions crossed her mind.
“Forget about what happened in Brassel. That way, we can return to our daily lives.”
“The old me would have still been trapped on the battlefield. But not anymore.”
“Why is that?”
“Because I have a home to return to, and people who welcome me.”
“That’s right.”
Leah felt a lump in her throat. She was happy that Terran finally considered the ducal mansion his home and regarded her and the employees as family. He was no longer the Terran who suffered and endured everything alone.
“I am happy that you broke through your barrier and came out.”
“Mm, I think so too. I can finally see the world outside.”
Terran kissed her forehead. He knew very well that she was the one who had broken that barrier for him.
“There is so much to do. I have to check the Galdenzia Crown Princess dress immediately.”
Leah complained, hugging Terran tighter as if she didn’t want to think about her real-world chores. But Terran remembered something he had briefly forgotten. He felt he had to tell her this.
“Grace, I have something to say.”
Terran pulled her slightly away from his chest and spoke in a serious tone.
“What is it?”
The two sat up slightly in bed and faced each other.
“You said Allen McDowell’s younger sister is also participating in the Crown Princess selection, right?”
“Yes. She commissioned a lace dress from Chenera. It’s finished, and truly, it is fantastic,” Leah replied with a bitter tone.
“Grace, the person who bribed Anna to damage the riding habit was Allen McDowell.”
“What? Is that true?”
Leah already knew, but she pretended it was her first time hearing it. To think he would commission a dress for his sister while instigating such a malicious act. She had known for a while, but the more she chewed on it, the angrier she got.
Allen, you really are the worst.
Thinking of Allen made Leah feel as if her internal organs were twisting; she felt nauseous.
“Still, since we took the commission, we must do our best.”
Leah’s voice wavered. Doing my best, my foot. In her heart, she didn’t want to do anything good for such trash.
“Yes. I told you because I thought you should know. He has ill feelings toward me. We have been badly entangled since I took over the general store.”
“Why didn’t you tell me then?”
“At the time, fixing the situation was the priority.”
Terran hadn’t wanted her to be swept away by angry emotions. Of course, he didn’t doubt that she would handle it well.
“You are right, Terran.”
Terran’s consideration brought fresh tears to her eyes. Looking back, she didn’t know how she had managed to finish the riding habit in that state of mind. She had endured solely on the will not to fail. But the future was the problem.
Rivette must not be selected as the Crown Princess.
However, as it stood, Rivette was certainly the most likely candidate. Every newspaper speculating on the Galdenzia Crown Princess mentioned Rivette. Some papers even published articles as if Rivette’s selection were already a certainty.
I won’t let Allen gain wings.
To prevent that, Adele—the younger sister of Terran’s friend—had to be selected. Looking only at her photo, Leah wasn’t sure of her charm. Still, she had to do her best until the end.
“I think it would be a good idea to ask the Empress for advice.”
Terran gave Leah hope with an unexpected suggestion. He said that because Vivian was a distant relative of Emperor Teresa, she knew the atmosphere of the Galdenzia Imperial family better than anyone.
“I should do that. I’ll take the dresses to the Empress, show them to her, and ask for her advice.”
Only then would she have an answer on how to plan for the future.
“Terran, what if Allen McDowell’s sister is selected by some chance?”
Leah spoke worriedly. If that happened, Allen would have power in his hands and would surely pressure Terran even more.
“That, too, would be fate.”
He answered calmly.
“Fate.”
On the contrary, failing to be selected even while wearing Chenera’s perfect dress is also fate.
Leah continued to smile at Terran, but a fire was rising inside her. In her heart, she wanted to trample Allen right now. She wanted to reveal to the world what a despicable man he was and make him pay the price for his sins. No, she was definitely going to make that happen.
I’ll return the revenge with interest.
Terran introduced a new secretary to Grace. However, she was quite surprised as it was someone she already knew.
“Greetings, Young Lady Vizak.”
“And you are?”
“Yes, I am Louis Valliere.”
She was curious about how the son of a Marquis came to work as Terran’s secretary. Terran told her about what had happened with him before.
[Shall I use words? Or shall I use my fists?]
The moment Terran grabbed Louis by the collar, Louis surprised him with unexpected words.
[We committed a rudeness to Lady Vizak last time. So we met her earlier, apologized, and even borrowed a carriage so she could get to the ducal mansion.]
[What?]
[We made a mistake then. She wasn’t someone to be spoken of so carelessly. We will be careful in the future.]
Terran had thought Louis and his friends had harassed Grace and Chenera again. He was incredibly relieved to hear they had apologized and sent them to the mansion in a carriage.
“Now that I think about it, you lent a carriage to me and Chenera, but I didn’t get to thank you properly.”
Leah offered a belated word of thanks to Louis.
“Not at all. I am the one who is more grateful to the Duke.”
“Pardon?”
Her gaze shifted to Terran. Her expression asked what on earth had happened. Terran had been about to rush back to the mansion at the time, but Louis had chased after him with an odd request.
[Duke, could you please hire me as a secretary?]
[What kind of sudden nonsense is this?]
[Ha! You have no idea what a torture it is to listen to His Majesty’s philosophy lectures every day at the palace. Please, save me.]
Even in a serious situation where he was facing a reunion with her after regaining his memory, Terran couldn’t help but chuckle at Louis’s words. He wouldn’t want to listen to Karl’s tedious speeches either.
[Come to the ducal mansion when you have time.]
As it happened, the Bertan project had grown quite large, and he needed another secretary besides Luke. He just hadn’t expected Louis to actually show up.
Just then, Chenera and Pauline came to find Terran. More accurately, they came because they knew Leah was in the office.
“Oh? That man?”
Chenera recognized Louis and looked surprised. After Leah briefly explained the situation, Chenera and Pauline nodded. But Chenera surprised everyone again with her eccentric words.
“Mr. Louis Ballerina will become a great person later.”
“It is Louis Valliere, Young Lady.”
“Eh? Why is the name so hard? Anyway, Mr. Louis Ballerina will be a great person in the future.”
“Thank you for the kind words, Young Lady.”
Louis saw Chenera in a new light. It wasn’t because she said something nice to him, but because up close, Chenera was an innocent and lovely woman. In particular, her clear eyes, which held no hidden intentions or schemes, were very pretty. He felt ashamed of his past self, who had looked down on her as a dim-witted gypsy.
“Grace, I don’t think I can go to the Imperial Palace with you today. What should I do?”
Terran apologized to Leah, saying he had a lot of backlogged official business. Since he had set the bait to hook Allen through the Bertan railway business, he had to hold an emergency meeting with the relevant officials.
“Do not worry about it, Terran.”
“Louis will go in my stead.”
“Understood, Duke.”
Louis looked excited about the first mission the Duke had entrusted to him.
“Hey, Mr. Louis Ballerina, let’s go quickly. We are very, very busy!”
Chenera said with her hands on her hips.
“It is not Ballerina, it’s… never mind.”
He tried to correct his name again but ended up laughing helplessly.
Cute.
He found Chenera, who was acting as if she were the senior, quite adorable.
Vivian marveled at the two dresses Leah had brought. However, because the dresses themselves had completely different atmospheres, it was difficult to make a judgment.
“Empress, which outfit do you think the Crown Prince and His Majesty of Galdenzia would prefer?”
When Leah asked point-blank, Chenera, Pauline, Sonya, and Marie all stared at the Empress’s lips. Everyone looked stiff with tension.
“I heard this selection is entirely up to the Crown Prince’s judgment. If that’s the case…”
“If that’s the case?”
Everyone was engulfed in tension, holding their breath.
“If I were the Crown Prince, I would probably…”
Vivian teased them, waving her finger in a taunting circle.
