- Chapter 16 - I Am Almost Starting to Ship You Two
It was peak mealtime, and the food street outside the school was packed with university students hunting for food.
Yan Mingyue, squeezed into a fried skewer stall with Jin Xi to enjoy a private meal, suddenly felt a chill run down his back. For some reason, his conscience felt a bit uneasy. He swallowed a piece of pork tenderloin and looked around cautiously, fearing that Gu Yuebai might appear behind him at any second. He looked at Jin Xi, who was buried in his food, and whispered, “Let us bring some food back for Gu Yuebai later. Otherwise, I feel a bit guilty.”
Hearing this, Jin Xi looked up with a chicken wing hanging from his mouth. His expression shifted through a series of changes before settling on a smile that could only be described as maternal.
Was this the legendary “Auntie Smile”?
He freed a hand to pat Yan Mingyue’s shoulder lightly. With an expression that said “I understand you” and the tone of a wise hermit, he said, “Good brother, I understand! Do not worry, I support you!”
What on earth was he talking about?
It was just bringing some food to Gu Yuebai. What was there to understand?
With a face full of confusion, Yan Mingyue felt like his thought process could no longer keep up with Jin Xi. Was it possible that he already had a generation gap with others at such a young age? Although he did not know what Jin Xi was thinking, he knew the guy was definitely overthinking it.
Seeming to find the chattering Jin Xi too noisy, Yan Mingyue grabbed a crispy chicken leg and stuffed it into Jin Xi’s mouth, effectively blocking any further words. He then looked up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle and began his performance. “National Day starts tomorrow. For seven whole days, one hundred and sixty-eight hours, I will not be able to see Gu Yuebai. That is more painful than killing me. So, I want to buy him something. I hope he thinks of me when he sees the food.”
He was in top form now and would not miss any chance to gain favorability points.
Jin Xi was moved to tears by Yan Mingyue’s “intense emotions.” Already a bit tipsy, he took a large bite of the chicken leg and suddenly felt his nose tingle. He lunged forward and hugged the bewildered Yan Mingyue around the waist, sobbing hysterically. “Waaaaah! Brother, my life is so hard! Why has no one liked me since I was a kid? Am I not good-looking? Waaaaah!”
Jin Xi looked up at Yan Mingyue with an expression that suggested if Yan Mingyue dared to say he was not handsome, he would pull out a gun and end him.
Yan Mingyue clumsily put his arm around Jin Xi’s shoulders and patted him firmly. “What are you saying, brother? If they do not like you, it is because they have no taste!”
Jin Xi was mixed-race, with slightly curly hair and sky-blue eyes that radiated a sense of pure, innocent stupidity. His features were not as sharp as his mother’s but possessed a bit more of a local softness.
Both were handsome in their own ways, so hugging like this naturally attracted a lot of attention. Someone, drawn by Jin Xi’s crying, looked over and saw two handsome young men clinging to each other. They could not resist snapping a photo and posting it on the campus forum with the title “Socialist Brotherhood.”
Their high visual appeal immediately drew in many curious onlookers who flocked to the post to investigate.
“Coke and Lele are Hard to Distinguish” commented: “Help! A mixed-race wolf pup and his delicate kitten!”
“Swallowed a Child” replied: “No, no, no, I think it is a mixed-race wolf pup and his black-bellied kitten!”
“Coke and Lele are Hard to Distinguish” added: “Holy crap, sister, this is top-tier stuff!”
Regardless of how those onlookers saw it, Yan Mingyue and Jin Xi could not escape being compared to cats and dogs.
Lu Renjia, having just finished playing basketball, wiped his sweat as he walked toward a park bench. A girl was already sitting there, so Lu Renjia sat quietly on the corner of the bench. His eyes accidentally caught a glimpse of her phone screen.
Likely due to regular exercise, his eyesight was excellent. He recognized at a glance that the two people in the photo were his good brothers. However, as the straightest man in the entire book, Lu Renjia completely failed to understand what the terms “Top” and “Bottom” in the thread meant. In his mind, it simply meant his two brothers were finally no longer at each other’s throats!
Naturally, he had to share such a good thing with Gu Yuebai. He took out his phone, quickly screenshotted the post, and sent it to Gu Yuebai along with a “thumbs up” emoji.
Having finished his work, Gu Yuebai rubbed his temples. He had intended to go out to eat, but he happened to see the message from Lu Renjia. He sat back down and opened the message. Someone had added an exaggerated filter, so Gu Yuebai saw Yan Mingyue and Jin Xi surrounded by bright red roses, accompanied by ridiculous background music.
He looked down at his phone screen, watching the two hugging tightly. His slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk, and his gaze turned dark. Finally, he spat out a short sentence through gritted teeth. “This is great. I am almost starting to ship them myself.”
Of course, he was not jealous. He simply felt that it was not quite right for someone like Yan Mingyue, who had just confessed his love for him, to turn around and hug someone else. Furthermore, that other person was his cousin. He truly just felt that this was inappropriate.
It was for that reason and that reason alone!
“Oh man, why is this guy so heavy after drinking? I am exhausted!”
Yan Mingyue, dragging Jin Xi with one hand and carrying food in the other, struggled to make his way back to the dormitory. He likely never imagined in his wildest dreams that a simple meal with Jin Xi would almost get him labeled as a scoundrel.
