- Reincarnated as a Sickly Princess, She was Kidnapped by the Evil Dragon Lady
- Chapter 13 - Silver-White Long Hair?
Led by the maid, Aria reluctantly followed her to Illycia’s new room.
As Aria puzzled over the situation, the moment the door opened, she understood why the maid had been so urgent in summoning her.
Illycia had changed into a thin new nightgown, clutching herself tightly. Even through the flimsy fabric, Aria could see Illycia’s excessively frail frame.
Large expanses of her pale skin were now visible, resembling nothing so much as milk ice cream.
However, Aria’s attention wasn’t focused on this. Instead, her gaze was drawn to Illycia’s silver-white hair, which lay spread across most of the bed.
Yes, what should have been black hair had transformed into long, silver-white strands.
Aria clearly remembered capturing Illycia, and even during their initial encounter, the girl had possessed black hair.
“My Queen… Following your instructions, we used a powerful Cleansing Spell to thoroughly wash her hair… This is the result…”
Aria listened to the maid’s honest report, her mind already forming a hypothesis.
At that moment, Illycia finally raised her head, her gaze locking onto the culprit before her, the hostility in her eyes undiminished.
“You… your hair was originally this color, wasn’t it?” Aria asked calmly, her tone even.
“I don’t know…” Illycia replied with equal detachment.
Illycia wasn’t lying to Aria. She genuinely didn’t understand why her hair had turned silver. She had assumed Aria had some peculiar fetish for silver-haired beauties and had transformed her accordingly.
After all, having heard in her previous life that dragons were inherently lustful, Illycia had subconsciously applied that logic to this world.
As it turned out, Illycia herself didn’t seem to know why her hair was this color.
Aria quietly observed Illycia, sensing that she wasn’t lying out of spite, and decided not to press the matter further.
“It doesn’t matter. Even if the rumors are true, the Dragon Race has nothing to fear…”
Aria spoke these words before turning and leaving Illycia’s room without lingering.
“After all, has the Dragon Race ever lacked misfortune or curses throughout history?”
As Aria departed, she left behind only this parting remark, which prompted Illycia to ponder deeply.
“Farewell…”
The two maids respectfully saw Aria off, then followed her out, closing the door behind them, leaving Illycia alone in her newly furnished room.
Having taken a bath, Illycia’s mind felt much clearer. Though she still resented how she had been treated, her current circumstances no longer allowed her to act as she had in the Roland Empire.
In the Roland Empire, if Illycia felt unhappy, she could confide in her sister or mother, who would comfort her with face wash. But here, that wasn’t an option.
Just like what had happened earlier, if she angered Aria again, her fate might resemble that of the shattered wall.
However, what did Aria mean by her parting words?
Illycia couldn’t help but ponder this.
From ancient texts, Illycia knew the Dragon Clan was immensely powerful, but there was no mention of any curses or misfortunes afflicting them.
Yet, upon reflection, this made sense. Human understanding of the Dragon Clan was woefully limited. After all, how could one claim to comprehend a race so rarely seen, perhaps only once every few centuries?
As she mused, Illycia’s gaze drifted to her silver-white hair, which cascaded down her chest.
She reached out, lifting the strands that grew from her scalp, and tugged them tentatively. Only when a sharp sting ran through her scalp did she finally accept that this hair truly belonged to her.
Even with the memories of this body’s original owner, Illycia had no idea she was born with white hair.
As she spoke, she lifted all her white hair with both hands.
It had to be said, this hair was ridiculously long. If she stood up, it would reach her heels.
The scene reminded Illycia of Rapunzel, the long-haired princess from her past life who had been kidnapped by a dragon and imprisoned in a castle.
Both had been abducted by dragons, and both had impossibly long hair. The only difference was that Illycia doubted any knight or prince would come to rescue her.
Even if someone did come, Illycia figured they wouldn’t even be able to defeat the two maids guarding the entrance, let alone face Aria, the queen of the Dragon Clan.
But even if someone did come, Illycia wasn’t particularly interested. Compared to princes and knights, she’d much rather have a dashingly beautiful older sister…
Lost in thought, Illycia gradually grew drowsy. She sprawled out on the bed, staring at the ceiling, her consciousness slowly fading away.
While Illycia slept, the Roland Empire was buzzing with a completely opposite, boisterous scene.
Thanks to Aria’s deliberate manipulation, the common folk believed the Dragon had been successfully vanquished, and most had erupted into cheers.
Of course, this celebration excluded those who knew the truth.
For instance, Isabella and Emilia, who had witnessed Illycia’s capture firsthand, and the rest of the family who had heard their account.
Rodas listened to Isabella’s description of Illycia’s abduction, his heart twisting with anguish, on the verge of collapse.
As for Rosalia beside him, her distress was beyond words. Her child had been snatched away by the Dragon, her fate unknown. No loving mother could accept such an outcome.
“Little Illycia…”
Rosalia gazed at Rodas, her voice trembling uncontrollably, her eyes instantly rimmed with red.
Rosalia wasn’t the only one struggling to contain her emotions; the others present were equally distressed.
After all, in their eyes, Illycia’s abduction by the dragon could only lead to grave danger. Throughout history, they had never heard of dragons communicating with humans or showing any friendliness toward them.
At that moment, Rosalia suddenly threw herself into Rodas’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
They all knew too well what Illycia had endured since childhood. In truth, if not for them, Illycia would never have become the person she was today.
By comparison, they wished the dragon had taken them instead of Illycia…
