Chapter 51: The Blind Date
Wen Yan was silent for a moment, then spoke, “I’m sorry, Miss Chen, I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you. I think we should just be friends. That would be better for both parties…”
Halfway through her sentence, Wen Yan’s blind date abruptly interrupted her.
Chen Sili’s expression remained unchanged, she just smiled, “Miss Wen, don’t speak too soon.”
“Our two families have been on good terms for generations. I believe you understand the cost of being born into a wealthy family better than I do.”
Chen Sili said tactfully, “Many times, our marriage is not something we can unilaterally decide.”
Wen Yan pursed her lips. Chen Sili stared intently at her expression, refusing to miss even the slightest change in her eyes, and finally captured a hint of hesitation after a struggle in those dark eyes.
Chen Sili immediately spoke, adding, “If we get engaged, I will manage the enterprises of both families, and you—”
“You can also break free from the constraints of your family and do what you truly enjoy.”
Wen Yan looked up, staring into those brown eyes, seemingly doubting whether she was telling the truth or a lie.
“I’m serious.” Chen Sili saw through her thoughts, extended her hand, and smiled sweetly. “So, Miss Wen, would you like to try dating me?”
After a long time, Wen Yan gently held her fingertips. “Okay.”
All their dates were arranged by Chen Sili. Wen Yan was only responsible for following her, acting as a human pendant. Both parties were quite accustomed to this arrangement.
Before their trip, Chen Sili brought many suitcases, which the bodyguards were diligently moving onto the helicopter. Wen Yan looked at the luggage all over the ground, wanting to help, but Chen Sili stopped her, raising her head slightly.
Chen Sili blinked, stating matter-of-factly, “We’re here to enjoy ourselves. How could I let you move the luggage?”
Chen Sili clapped her hands. A few of the Chen family bodyguards immediately walked over. “Miss Wen, we’ll take care of it.”
Wen Yan released her grip. The bodyguards carried both their luggage.
The helicopter landed on the lawn of the Chen family manor. Wen Yan followed Chen Sili and sat beside her. Through the window, she looked outside.
In the distant garden, roses were everywhere.
Wen Yan felt a sense of distraction. It wasn’t until Chen Sili reached out and waved her hand in front of her that she snapped back to attention. Chen Sili smiled. “What are you looking at? The garden over there?”
“I remember Auntie said you seemed to really like roses.”
Wen Yan put on her earplugs, took out her eye mask, and nodded carelessly. “Mhm.”
“You play the piano very well too. Speaking of which, we even had the same introductory teacher. How about we try a four-hand duet sometime?”
Wen Yan’s lips moved, but she ultimately chose to remain silent. She pretended to be asleep, ignoring Chen Sili’s invitation.
Chen Sili smiled, not taking offense at her coldness.
Rishka Bay.
This place is spring-like all year round and is a well-known tourist destination.
The helicopter landed on a private island, purchased by an unnamed wealthy person, where many seaside villas were built for sale.
Wen Yan was carrying her luggage when she stepped off the helicopter, but unexpectedly, Chen Sili stopped her again.
Chen Sili looked at Wen Yan holding her own luggage and sighed. Her tone was a little helpless. “Wen Yan, just leave these to the servants. We’re here to have fun.”
Wen Yan: …
Wen Yan lowered her eyes, staring at the luggage in her hand. The Chen family bodyguard walked over and reached out to her. Wen Yan slowly looked up, her gaze falling on Chen Sili.
Even the most oblivious person could tell that Chen Sili had carefully dressed up for this date.
Chen Sili originally had a sweet appearance, but tonight she wore a short, custom-made dress. Her slender, long legs were covered in black silk stockings, making her particularly sexy.
Chen Sili noticed her gaze. Her eyes flickered. She tilted her head, revealing a confused expression. “Miss Wen, did I say something wrong?”
Wen Yan glanced at the bodyguard, pushed his hand away, slung her bag over her shoulder, and shook her head. “No.”
“That’s good. Tonight, how about we…” Just as Chen Sili was about to change the subject, Wen Yan suddenly said, “I don’t particularly like the sexy style.”
Chen Sili was startled. Wen Yan pursed her lips. “I just casually made up an ideal type to deal with my family pressuring me to marry, so…”
Wen Yan took off her jacket and wrapped it around the other woman’s waist, covering the woman’s subtly shivering legs beneath the mini-skirt. “You don’t need to deliberately cater to my preferences.”
Chen Sili was frozen in place.
Having said what needed to be said, Wen Yan didn’t linger and walked quickly toward the illuminated villa.
Chen Sili tightly clutched the jacket wrapped around her waist, her forearm trembling slightly. The bodyguard looked at the retreating figure, momentarily unsure whether to follow, and hesitated. “Miss.”
“Wen Yan seems to be heading towards the property her family owns here. Should we follow her?”
“Madam instructed that Wen Yan is Wen Li’s only child and will definitely inherit the Wen family in the future, so you must secure her, even if you don’t like her. It would be best if you could seal the deal tonight.”
“…”
Chen Sili slowly released her fingers from the jacket.
She didn’t answer the bodyguard, but instead murmured, “What should I do?”
The bodyguard looked confused. “Miss?”
Chen Sili untied the jacket from her waist and draped it over her shoulders, letting the cold wind lift her skirt. She gave a self-mocking smile. “I think I might actually like her a little.”
In the early morning, Wen Yan opened her eyes. As soon as she drew the curtains, she saw a figure standing outside the villa, waving at her.
It was Chen Sili.
Wen Yan rushed downstairs, out of breath. Chen Sili took out a handkerchief, intending to wipe the sweat from her forehead, but Wen Yan tilted her head to dodge. Chen Sili was startled, but quickly recovered and handed the handkerchief to Wen Yan.
“Why the rush? I wasn’t going to run away. Wipe your sweat.”
“I don’t have a habit of making people wait for me.”
Wen Yan casually wiped her forehead. When she looked down, her movement paused for a moment.
Her gaze fell on the woman’s exposed legs. After a long moment, Wen Yan slowly spoke. “Where are we going today?”
Chen Sili smiled. “The golf course.”
Wen Yan nodded, not paying much attention. The golf course was indeed a common place for dates.
The golf course.
Wen Yan held her club, standing aside, listening carelessly to the conversation between the two.
“CEO Li, thank you for your trust in me.” Chen Sili extended her hand with a smile. “I hope we have a pleasant cooperation.”
CEO Li, as Chen Sili called him, was a real estate businessman in his fifties. Before shaking Chen Sili’s hand, he subconsciously glanced at Wen Yan, who was standing silently on the side.
CEO Li spoke. “This must be the young boss of the Wen Group.”
Chen Sili’s gaze followed. Wen Yan had heard this kind of talk many times and said calmly, “I wouldn’t dare claim that. My mother mainly manages the company’s affairs.”
“Oh, what does that matter?” CEO Li waved his hand. “You’re the only child in your family. Won’t it all be yours sooner or later? Especially since you have such an excellent helpmate like Little Chen now.”
Wen Yan frowned slightly. Just as she was about to correct their relationship, Chen Sili suddenly stepped forward, linked her arm with Wen Yan’s, and naturally took over the conversation. “CEO Li, Wen Yan and I have some things to discuss.”
“Alright, alright. I won’t disturb you young couple.” CEO Li gave a knowing look, glanced at their linked arms, and smiled teasingly. “Then let me wish you both a happy engagement in advance.”
Wen Yan: …
After the person left, Wen Yan pulled her arm away from Chen Sili, her eyebrows furrowed. “I only agreed to date you. When did I agree to get engaged to you?”
Chen Sili quickly covered her mouth. After confirming the person had walked far away and couldn’t hear their conversation, she cautiously closed the door.
Wen Yan could clearly see through her actions. She threw the golf club in her hand, a sarcastic curve to her lips. “Chen Sili.”
“You used me.”
Chen Sili pursed her lips, staring at the dark eyes filled with anger, unable to speak for a long time.
Wen Yan took a deep breath, trying to calm down, and prepared to leave. However, just as her hand touched the doorknob, her waist was wrapped by a pair of slender arms.
Wen Yan froze for a moment. Realizing what had happened, her fingers clenched into fists.
The person hugging her spoke with a choke in her voice. “I’m sorry, Wen Yan. I didn’t mean to lie to you.”
“My family instructed that I must close this business deal, or they will take back my inheritance rights.”
“You know I have three younger brothers vying for it, Wen Yan. I… I really had no choice.”
Wen Yan sighed, slowly relaxing her tightly clenched fists. She turned around and looked at Chen Sili. “Even so, you shouldn’t…”
Chen Sili lifted her head, her eyes slightly red, yet the tears in her eyes stubbornly refused to fall, showing obsession and stubbornness.
Wen Yan was stunned.
“…”
“Let it go this time. Don’t do it again.”
Chen Sili’s eyes widened. She seemed surprised that Wen Yan was so easily persuaded.
Late at night, despite Chen Sili’s repeated invitations, Wen Yan politely declined her offer to stay together and returned alone to the villa under her mother’s name.
Back in the villa, Wen Yan collapsed onto the bed, facing the ceiling, and made a face.
After a long time, Wen Yan sneered softly, her tone self-deprecating. “Strange.”
When Chen Sili cried just now, she instinctively felt soft-hearted.
She seemed to have a memory of such a moment, seeing someone look at her with such obsession and stubbornness.
On the other side.
Chen Sili returned to her bedroom, supported by her bodyguard. The bodyguard looked at the lit villa in the distance, sounding worried. “Miss, Madam called. She’s very satisfied that the deal was closed, but regarding the marriage alliance… Madam wants you to be more proactive.”
Chen Sili frowned slightly, her tone annoyed. “How much more proactive can I be? I’ve done everything I can. What else can I do? Should I just drug her and wake up expecting her to take responsibility?”
The bodyguard handed her a document. Chen Sili irritably swatted it away. “I don’t know how many times I’ve looked at it.”
The bodyguard sighed, picked up the document from the floor, which clearly detailed Wen Yan’s life history, interests, and ideal type.
