- Reborn Into The Harem Of A Prince From An Enemy Country
- Chapter 1 - Reborn as the Concubine of an Enemy Prince
Qi Xiaoyun mustered the remaining strength in his body, swinging the long spear in his hands with all his might to fight the enemy troops.
His body was already covered in wounds, and his originally flawless battle robe was stained with blood.
Qi Xiaoyun was peerlessly handsome and possessed extraordinary martial arts skills. As an imperial prince of Qi, he had personally led troops into battle many times with rare defeats, earning the renowned title of the Handsome God of War. Unfortunately, the disparity in military strength between Chu and Qi was currently far too vast, and he alone was simply powerless to turn the tide.
By this time, every single soldier under Qi Xiaoyun’s command had fallen in battle, leaving only him behind.
“Still putting up a desperate struggle?” Chu Weide, the Second Prince of Chu who was riding on a blood-sweating steed, smiled contemptuously and ordered the archers to surround Qi Xiaoyun completely.
Then, at a single gesture from him, a volley of thousands of arrows was unleashed simultaneously.
Arrows rained down densely upon Qi Xiaoyun from all directions, piercing straight through his body.
Qi Xiaoyun felt an agonizing, bone-fracturing pain ripple through every part of his body until he could endure no longer, tumbling off his warhorse with a heavy thud.
As his consciousness gradually faded, he heard the gloating laughter of Chu Weide: “Hahaha, wipe out this group of Qi people completely! His Imperial Majesty will surely reward me handsomely!”
With his final ounce of strength, Qi Xiaoyun opened his eyes to glare at Chu Weide, a cold sneer forming at the corner of his lips.
After that, Qi Xiaoyun plunged into a deep, heavy darkness, losing all his senses and knowing nothing more.
When he woke up again, he found himself lying on a soft bed, and the pain in his body had almost entirely vanished.
Only his head was still aching, and his mind felt extremely chaotic.
In disbelief, Qi Xiaoyun felt all over his body; those ferocious wounds had completely vanished.
Just as he was feeling dazed, a figure pushed open the door and entered.
The man before him looked to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, dressed in deep black brocade robes. He had sword-like brows, star-bright eyes, and a handsome, strikingly heroic appearance. However, the gentle rays of the setting sun filtering through the window lattice fell upon his face, adding a touch of warmth to his stern expression.
“Awake?” The man spoke. “Are you still feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
“You are the Fourth Prince of Chu, Prince Rui, Chu Lianmo!” Qi Xiaoyun blurted out the man’s name in astonishment.
Although they had not met for four years, he had served as a political hostage in Chu for eight years and remained very familiar with this face.
“What is it?” Chu Lianmo furrowed his brows slightly. “Could your fever have muddled your brain so much that you do not even recognize this Prince?”
“I have a fever?” Qi Xiaoyun touched his own forehead, feeling that it indeed seemed a bit hot.
Chu Lianmo also reached out to test his forehead. “It has already gone down quite a bit; it seems you are almost well.”
“Your Highness!” At that moment, a maid-servant hurried over. “Consort Yin’s Grace says his chest has suddenly started aching terribly, and he hopes you will go take a look!”
“Why would his chest suddenly ache?” A trace of anxiety instantly flashed across Chu Lianmo’s previously calm face. “I will go see him right now.”
After replying to the maid, Chu Lianmo turned back to look at Qi Xiaoyun and said, “Rest well on your own for now; I will come back when I have time.”
With that, he decisively stood up and walked away.
Qi Xiaoyun truly could not comprehend what kind of situation this currently was.
He did know a few things about the Fourth Prince of Chu. Rumor had it that this man was promiscuous, taking both men and women and keeping numerous wives and concubines in his mansion. The Consort Yin’s Grace the maid mentioned just moments ago was presumably one of them.
The social customs of Chu were relatively open, and the practice of taking male wives and concubines was gradually becoming common. However, due to traditional concepts and the need to pass down the family line, the primary wives taken by the vast majority of wealthy and noble families were still women, and Chu Lianmo was no exception. Even so, many of the secondary consorts and concubines he took were men.
Qi Xiaoyun still remembered that back when he was a hostage, he had a slight acquaintance with Chu Lianmo. At that time, Chu Lianmo was still a self-disciplined, upright, and progressive fine young man; he had no idea how things had turned out this way four years later.
However, Qi Xiaoyun did not care much about this matter. What he cared about most was his current plight.
Qi Xiaoyun got up from the bed, propped up his slender and frail body, walked unsteadily for a few steps, and made his way over to the dressing table to look into the bronze mirror.
The reflection in the mirror belonged to a completely unfamiliar face!
The person in the mirror had fair and tender skin, eyes as bright and clear as crystal beads, lips that were naturally red without any makeup, and extremely delicate facial features. Compared to his original appearance, he possessed a touch of gentle and delicate beauty, yet his brows and eyes still bore a faint resemblance to his former self.
Suddenly, Qi Xiaoyun’s head suffered a sharp pang of pain, and a massive flood of memories that did not belong to him instantly surged into his mind.
As it turned out, the owner of this body was named Zhou Yun, originally a concubine-born son of a minor official, who had been chosen by Chu Lianmo and taken in as a concubine.
According to Zhou Yun’s memories, today was the third day of the eighth month in the Yiwei year, and three months had already passed since Qi Xiaoyun died in battle.
“Someone come!” Qi Xiaoyun suddenly shouted with a hint of agitation.
A-Wang, the personal page of the original body, appeared. “Young Master, what are your instructions?”
“Tell me, what has happened to the State of Qi? Is it still around?”
“Huh?” A-Wang scratched his head in bewilderment. “This servant wouldn’t know about that.”
That was true. Neither Zhou Yun nor the servants around him paid the slightest bit of attention to affairs of state, leaving his memory completely blank regarding information about the State of Qi. Since Zhou Yun himself had no idea, his servants were even less likely to know.
“Hurry up and go find someone to ask! Someone in this Prince Rui’s mansion is bound to know!”
“Uh, this servant will go right away.” Although A-Wang was completely baffled, he still accepted the order and left.
