- Chapter 117 - Guarding the Empty Bed Alone
Xie Jingcheng walked closer step by step. She reached out to put on a pair of gloves before she finally touched the telescope. She adjusted the telescope’s direction slightly and discovered that it was aimed directly at a specific room.
The curtains of that room were drawn, and several potted plants were kept on the balcony. This was Song Qingxing’s room. After she had moved out, the house had not been sold, and the flowers she had meticulously cared for were still on the balcony.
Occasionally, a domestic helper would come to clean, so the curtains were not always closed, allowing a view of the living room’s layout. The living room was a simple, large open-floor plan.
The gray sofa, the white coffee table, and the television—Xie Jingcheng had seen all of these in photos because there were many of them in Song Qingxing’s mobile phone album.
Her fingers tightened around the telescope as a swirling rage rose within Xie Jingcheng’s heart, one she could not suppress no matter what.
This fellow had long since surpassed the level of a mere sasaeng fan; he had been doing such filthy things all along. Xie Jingcheng was angry to the extreme, but this caused her to return to a state of calm rationality instead.
She let go of the telescope and began to observe the other arrangements in the room. The entire living room was a mess. This apartment wasn’t large; it basically consisted of one bathroom, one kitchen, one bedroom, and one living room—the simplest of floor plans.
Xie Jingcheng walked further inside. The bedroom was not locked. Upon entering, the landlord was the first to let out a cry of surprise.
“Hey, I didn’t even come in to look when the police were here. I didn’t expect this guy to be so utterly shameless!”
Dense rows of photos were plastered all over the walls. Without exception, every single one was of Song Qingxing. Moreover, these weren’t the posters or magazine clippings that an ordinary fan would stick up.
They were candid, secretly taken photos.
There was Song Qingxing standing in the living room, wearing ultra-short shorts, her fair and delicate thighs captured perfectly in the shot. She was holding a black hair tie in her mouth.
Her two hands were busy smoothing out her strands of hair.
Even while wearing a gas mask, Xie Jingcheng’s expression was difficult to maintain. Her brow was tightly furrowed, looking like two knotted ropes.
Her gaze swept across these photos, and she was nearly exploding with rage. Fortunately, Song Qingxing was a celebrity who valued her privacy and rarely did anything out of the ordinary in the living room. Most of the time, the curtains were drawn, so the most “revealing” photos this person could take were only to this extent.
Photo after photo showed Song Qingxing wearing small camisoles or short shorts.
Since the police had already collected evidence previously, these items were now useless. The landlord would have a headache having to clean them up himself.
Xie Jingcheng turned around. The words she spoke through the gas mask were actually not very clear.
It wasn’t until they left the room that Xie Jingcheng spoke.
“I will find someone to help you clear these things out. I’ll also find people to clean and renovate the room for you.”
“However, I will be taking this trash away with me.”
The landlord nodded. He was naturally more than grateful; after all, Xie Jingcheng represented the victim, Song Qingxing.
It wasn’t until they went down the elevator together that the landlord remembered something important. He slapped his forehead.
“Oh right, you’re Xie Jingcheng, aren’t you? My daughter loves watching your movies. Could I get an autograph?”
Xie Jingcheng: “…”
She nodded, took the pen and paper the man fumbled out of his bag, and patiently signed her artistic signature. The flamboyant, “dragon and phoenix” style of the characters clearly came from her hand and was definitely not a clumsy forgery.
The landlord nodded with satisfaction.
Finally, he kept a commemorative photo before leaving.
Although Xie Jingcheng had returned to the city where she usually lived, she didn’t have much time to go home. Besides, home was wherever the person she loved was.
So, after finishing her business, she immediately returned to the city where Song Qingxing was filming without a moment’s rest.
Then, she went directly to the police station.
There, Xie Jingcheng finally saw the detained man. He had already grown a stubble of blue beard, and it was evident that the food here was very light, as his face had thinned noticeably.
“It’s you!”
As soon as Xie Jingcheng entered, the man excitedly grabbed the bars. Xie Jingcheng swept a light glance over him, her eyes filled with contempt.
She walked over.
“What, you hate me?”
“Bah! You lustful woman, you’re truly shameless, actually laying a hand on Qingxing.”
The man spat out insults in his anger.
Xie Jingcheng only gave a cold smile, her gaze like a sharp blade.
“You’d better worry about yourself first.”
“Attempted murder is no laughing matter.”
“I should have dealt with you back then. But, killing you wouldn’t have been useful. I want Qingxing to stay with me, to stay with me for a lifetime. Even if we go to hell, it will be together…”
The man’s speech was incoherent and rambling.
“How unfortunate. I am her partner.”
“Do you know? It was Song Qingxing who begged to date me, and she was the one who took the initiative to kiss me…”
Xie Jingcheng narrowed her eyes, speaking of things that had never actually happened. In reality, their roles were completely reversed.
The bodyguards and the driver standing to the side were stunned because the version they were familiar with was not this one.
Wasn’t it the boss who had relentlessly pursued the other person?
How did it become completely reversed here?
However, Xie Jingcheng hadn’t won enough Best Actress awards to go soft; those weren’t bought by her parents’ money.
She was truly talented. With just a casual display of her acting skills, the man in front of her believed it to be true.
He pulled frantically at his hair, shouting loudly, “That’s impossible! Absolutely impossible!”
Seeing the man’s humiliated rage, Xie Jingcheng finally felt a bit of satisfaction in her heart. However, she couldn’t let this fellow use this chance to feign madness and exploit a loophole for the mentally ill.
After all, what kind of mentally ill person would have such clear logic and follow someone for such a long time? This was clearly a case of love turning into a twisted, obsessive desire for possession.
After finishing the business at the police station, Xie Jingcheng slowly began her return journey. She had been busy all day, to the point where she fell asleep the moment she got into the car.
After all, she had spent the day traveling by car and plane, which was enough to make anyone exhausted.
Thus, by the time the driver pulled up to the house, Xie Jingcheng had not yet woken up. The driver waited for a while, and seeing that the eldest miss showed no sign of waking, he stood up, opened the car door, and called out in a low voice.
“Eldest Miss, we’ve arrived.”
Xie Jingcheng’s eyelashes trembled. Before she could open her eyes, someone on the second floor heard the sound of the car engine outside.
Without even taking the time to change her slippers, that person ran out along the stone path in the courtyard.
“Xie Jingcheng, you’re back. What did you do today? Why are you so late…”
Just as Song Qingxing finished speaking, she saw the driver slowly move aside. Xie Jingcheng was still sleeping inside the car, but hearing the commotion of her voice, she slowly opened her eyes.
“Why did you come out to meet me?”
Xie Jingcheng got out of the car. Song Qingxing hurried to support her. Perhaps because she had been too excited and ran a few steps just now, her wound was throbbing slightly.
“I haven’t seen you all day.”
Song Qingxing’s mind had been wandering all day. Previously, she hadn’t truly felt the reality of being “kept.”
But, after Xie Jingcheng had been gone for a day, that feeling of a lover guarding an empty bed alone immediately surged into her heart.
