Reborn as the Heartless Alpha - Chapter 4
When the gland was pierced by the alpha’s sharp teeth, Zhou Zhou felt a slight pain, as if a nerve in her brain had been gently tugged. Her body instinctively curled deeper into the alpha’s embrace, her eyes fluttering open and shut in fear of the unknown, her long lashes trembling rapidly like the wings of a startled, beautiful butterfly.
Fortunately, the pain lasted only a moment. What followed was an utterly unfamiliar yet exhilarating sensation.
It was as if she had been submerged in a warm ocean of red wine infinitely gentle liquid enveloping her, lifting her up. Even though she couldn’t swim, she wouldn’t sink. She could relax completely, surrendering to this divinely bestowed moment of tranquil bliss.
She closed her eyes in comfort, her damp, dark lashes glistening under the dazzling white light streaming through the window, their shimmer reflecting off the cold gleam of the silver handcuffs and shackles restraining the alpha.
Click!
With a crisp sound, the restraints automatically unlocked.
Song Yi snapped out of her near-hallucinatory euphoria, reluctantly pulling her lips away from the omega’s enticing gland.
Well, damn. These things are smart.
Song Yi lowered her gaze to her own bruised wrists and ankles.
She had to admit, the original scumbag alpha Song Yi really knew how to play, and was far more twisted than she could have imagined.
The temporary mark was complete. Song Yi licked her lips, tasting not only the omega’s pheromones but also a new, blended flavor her own red wine scent mingling with the omega’s, creating a sweet, intoxicating fragrance, richer than grapes, more intoxicating than cherries, carrying a faint, tipsy allure.
Seemed like the temporary mark had been successful.
Song Yi exhaled in relief, finally daring to look down at the omega in her arms.
“Zhou Zhou are you, okay?”
Their current position could only be described as extremely intimate. Song Yi’s mind flashed back to the moment before she had initiated the marking reaching out to pull Zhou Zhou into her embrace.
Zhou Zhou now lay against her chest, her head tilted slightly to the right, unresponsive, as if she had fallen unconscious. With just a downward glance, Song Yi could clearly see the alluring gland on the back of her neck.
The omega’s punctured gland was already healing. Song Yi didn’t linger, quickly averting her gaze.
What now?
Still dazed from the floating euphoria, Song Yi felt momentarily lost.
She had only ever read This Scumbag Alpha Always Plays and Dumps this one ABO novel before transmigrating here. Her understanding of the ABO world was limited, and she had skimmed through many parts while reading. For instance, she had fast-forwarded through all the scenes where the original scumbag alpha Song Yi manipulated and forcibly claimed omegas using underhanded methods. As a result, this world felt utterly alien to her, even though fragmented memories belonging to the original scumbag alpha Song Yi were slowly surfacing in her mind.
Leaning against a massive bookshelf, Song Yi quietly waited for all the memories to fully integrate.
Finally, she had access to all of the original scumbag alpha Song Yi’s memories. She instinctively braced herself, wary, but the original’s consciousness didn’t resurface.
Had she driven it away?
Song Yi was puzzled, but then again, if transmigrating into a novel was already this bizarre, anything else shouldn’t be surprising.
She exhaled slowly, then looked down at the omega nestled against her.
Her gaze landed first on the omega’s fair, slightly flushed neck. Only then did Song Yi belatedly realize that she and Zhou Zhou were practically chest-to-back.
Her heart suddenly started pounding wildly.
Song Yi: ???
Although transmigrating into a novel was a major event, the repeated rapid pounding of her heart made Song Yi suspect that this body might have a heart condition. She decided she’d need to find time to get a thorough checkup at a hospital here.
For now, she had succeeded in the first step preventing the scumbag Alpha Song Yi from fully marking Zhou Zhou.
Next she would take care of Zhou Zhou and help her safely endure this heat cycle.
Having made a clear plan, Song Yi took action.
She tentatively reached out to lift Zhou Zhou into her arms, but in her sober state, she had never been this physically close to a girl before.
She couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Song Yi stared at her own hands, feeling that even touching Zhou Zhou would be an offense to her.
Even though they had done far more intimate things not long ago.
But that had been under the influence of pheromones, she hadn’t meant to. She had only been trying to help Zhou Zhou. Song Yi comforted herself with this thought.
She remained stuck in hesitation for a long while.
Suddenly, Zhou Zhou swayed to the side as if about to collapse. Reacting swiftly, Song Yi caught her.
Since she had already touched her, Song Yi stopped hesitating.
This time, Song Yi lifted Zhou Zhou in full consciousness. Her legs were slightly numb from sitting too long in one position, but she still held Zhou Zhou steadily.
She’s so light. Does she not eat?
The thought crossed her mind, and Song Yi suddenly remembered something mentioned in the novel.
Before her biological parents found her, Zhou Zhou had lived a very difficult life. Though she was an outstanding student and received limited financial aid from kind-hearted benefactors, she often neglected meals, focusing all her time on studying. She wanted to get into a good university, secure a good job, and become strong and capable. Most of the time, she survived on bread.
But, Song Yi glanced down. Aside from being light, Zhou Zhou showed no signs of malnutrition in her physique or overall condition.
If Zhou Zhou had looked a little less healthy, a little less beautiful, perhaps she wouldn’t have been targeted by those with ill intentions. But the character of Zhou Zhou was written to suffer precisely because of her unprotected beauty.
When Song Yi had originally read This Scumbag Alpha Always Plays and Abandons, what she found most unjust was that Zhou Zhou was not only coveted for her beauty but also imprisoned because of it. After fully marking Zhou Zhou, the scumbag Alpha Song Yi didn’t immediately discard her. Instead, she tampered with Zhou Zhou’s college application system, ensuring she wasn’t accepted by any university. The scumbag Alpha then manipulated Zhou Zhou, confining her to this house with lies like, “It’s okay if you don’t go to college. I’ll love you forever.”
Zhou Zhou, who had grown up without anyone to rely on, couldn’t resist such tactics.
Song Yi vowed that now that it was her in this role, she would never do such a thing. Zhou Zhou deserved her own world not to be caged like a bird, played with until boredom set in, and then discarded with broken wings.
The room belonging to the scumbag Alpha Song Yi disgusted her. Without hesitation, she carried Zhou Zhou out and followed the winding staircase to the upper floor. Her mind now held memories of this house, the rooms upstairs had never been used and should be cleaner, likely free of any disturbing items.
Halfway up the stairs, Zhou Zhou stirred in her arms. Song Yi looked down and saw Zhou Zhou’s delicate brows furrowed tightly. She wondered if her awkward hold was making Zhou Zhou uncomfortable.
She made a slight adjustment, but Zhou Zhou still seemed uncomfortable. Out of options, she quickened her pace, went upstairs, and entered the room closest to the staircase.
This room looked much more normal, a wardrobe, a dressing table, a large two-meter-wide bed, and a bathroom on the inner side.
Song Yi walked into the room. It was regularly cleaned, with the screen window open, letting in fresh, circulating air. Every surface within reach was practically spotless. Song Yi pulled back the blanket and gently placed Zhou Zhou on the bed, covering her up.
Zhou Zhou still had her brows tightly furrowed, eyes closed, her face full of unease.
Song Yi thought for a moment and could only come up with one possibility: Zhou Zhou was still in the throes of her heat. Although Song Yi had already provided a temporary mark, Zhou Zhou still needed the comfort and presence of an alpha.
Song Yi hesitated, afraid she might overstep and make things worse for the omega, causing more discomfort.
Moreover, she felt somewhat uneasy about it. To her, pheromones were akin to sexual hormones something meant to be shared with a committed partner. Having never been in a relationship, Song Yi felt that releasing pheromones toward a freshly marked, vulnerable omega like this seemed almost like taking advantage.
But it seemed this “taking advantage” was unavoidable. The omega on the bed grew even more restless, trembling in fear as if trapped in a nightmare.
In the end, Song Yi couldn’t bear to watch. She knelt beside the bed, one knee on the floor, leaning close to Zhou Zhou without touching her.
Screw it.
She decided to see this good deed through to the end, go all the way.
After all, she was just a lone wolf, simply doing a good deed. There wasn’t any deeper meaning to it.
Convincing herself, she began releasing her pheromones. A slightly rich, red wine-like scent filled the room, soothing the distressed Zhou Zhou on the bed.
Sure enough, Zhou Zhou gradually calmed down.
Song Yi let out a relieved sigh, a satisfied smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
The next moment, flashing, multicolored lights flickered above them, instantly transforming the proper room into a midnight dance club. Song Yi stood up, bent over, one hand braced against the bed and the other covering Zhou Zhou’s eyes, before looking up at the ceiling.
The once plain white wall had somehow turned into a mirror, and the lights were emanating from it.
Annoyed, Song Yi rolled her eyes at the mirror.
Trash alpha Song Yi really wasn’t a decent person after all!
