Reborn as an Alpha and Still Wanting to Engage in Lesbian Relationships - Chapter 28.3
Seeing Auntie Xu Nuo suddenly appear, the little one was momentarily confused.
Her gaze shifted to the pile of equipment beside Auntie Xu Nuo, and she suddenly smacked her forehead in realization.
So, the auntie all bundled up earlier was Auntie Xu Nuo!
The adorable child waved back at Xu Nuo, then looked worriedly at her red, swollen eyes.
Xu Nuo instinctively covered her eyes, then awkwardly lowered her hands. She offered the child a flimsy, poorly constructed lie to brush past the concern.
When guests arrived, Jiang Feng rose and deftly tied on an apron, stir-frying several dishes in the kitchen before bringing them out.
It was unclear whether the food was truly delicious or if Jiang Man was simply overjoyed at the prospect of seeing Wen Qing, but she ate with such delight that her head swayed from side to side.
After the meal, Xu Nuo, holding the adorable little one in her arms, stated her purpose for the visit: “Could Qing stay here for a while?”
Hearing this, before her mother and mama could respond, the adorable little one dashed over, tugged at her sister’s leg, and declared loudly, “Kay!”
Liu Ying and Jiang Feng, who had just been overruled, looked helplessly at the little one now turning to them with a sweet, pleading expression and shook their heads.
“Since the little master has spoken, it has to be a yes even if it’s a no.” Lifting her gaze, Liu Ying looked at Xu Nuo. “But Manzai’s kindergarten hasn’t been settled yet, and we’ll have to go out for interviews sometimes, which could be a bit troublesome. What about Qingzai? Have you found a kindergarten for her?”
Listening to Liu Ying, Xu Nuo hugged Wen Qing nervously and shook her head, replying in a small, uncertain voice, “No, recently, Wen Yu and I…”
Seeing her guilty expression, Liu Ying understood.
Since Wen Qing would be staying with them temporarily, and Manzai adored this pretty little sister so much, Liu Ying thought for a moment and suggested proactively, “Why don’t we just take Qingzai along to the interviews with us?”
“One kid or two, it’s all the same.”
If the little ones hadn’t been present, Xu Nuo would have been so grateful that she might have hugged Liu Ying’s leg like she did back in school, braving Jiang Feng’s murderous glare, and called her “godmother.”
But now, older and with the children watching, Xu Nuo held back for a long moment before finally rubbing the tip of her nose and awkwardly thanking them.
Time had silently changed so many things, yet bonds of family, friendship, and love only grew stronger with its passage.
The heavy burden of where Wen Qing would stay temporarily, which had weighed on Xu Nuo’s heart, was gently lifted by Liu Ying, leaving Xu Nuo feeling much lighter.
Full and satisfied, she kissed Wen Qing and Manzai, stood up, put on the gear she had arrived in, and like a warrior, planted her hands on her hips, waved to them, and turned away resolutely.
Jiang Man, held in her mother’s arms, watched as the elevator door closed behind Aunt Xu Nuo.
Having held it in all evening, the little one finally wrapped her arms around her mother’s neck and asked worriedly after Aunt Xu Nuo left, “Auntie, okay?”
“She’s fine.” Liu Ying, holding Wen Qing, reached out to ruffle Manzai’s head. “Auntie just ran into some unavoidable challenges in her marriage. She always did well in school, so don’t worry.”
The little one hummed in understanding and nodded vaguely.
Though Jiang Man didn’t quite grasp the connection between doing well in school and facing marital issues, she knew one thing: from today on, she could be as clingy and inseparable with Wen Qing as before, spending every day together!
Watching the two little ones cuddled up together on the sofa, just as Jiang Feng was about to flare up, Liu Ying pinched her cheeks. “Qingzai has had it hard enough. Don’t take out your dislike for her mother on her, understand!”
With her cheeks stinging from her wife’s pinch, the formidable and stern Chairman Jiang now looked as pitiful as a puppy under her wife’s grip.
Jiang Feng drooped her ears in grievance, appearing obedient on the surface but grumbling inwardly: It’s not taking it out on her, it’s just that Wen Qing is a tricky little one. One look and you can tell she’s no good!
When will my wife ever drop the filter she has for this kid because of Xu Nuo!
Jiang Man caught sight of her mother and mama’s interaction, covered her mouth with a “fufufu” giggle, then leaned close to her sister’s ear to whisper and share a laugh at their mother’s expense.
If they were a bit older, they would have seen a beautiful, glossy Ragdoll cat sitting beside Liu Ying and Jiang Feng, waving its paws and tapping them on the head of a dog three or four times its size, making a loud thump-thump sound.
At bedtime, the two little ones clung tightly to each other, expressing their wish to sleep together to the adults.
“Mommy, pwease~” QMQ
Jiang Man blinked her big eyes, shooting a pitiful, pleading look at Liu Ying.
Liu Ying brushed aside Jiang Feng’s useless objections with a wave of her hand, crouched down, and gently rubbed both children’s heads. “Alright, but no sneaking around to play, and no staying up too late, okay?”
“Otay!”
Jiang Man held Wen Qing’s hand, and together they raised their little hands, making a firm promise to Mrs. Liu Ying.
The night was quiet and still. In the pitch-black room, two tiny figures gently pushed the door open.
The faint creak made the two little shadows freeze instantly, hearts pounding like thieves.
Scout Manzai cautiously poked her head out, scanning left and right for any signs of danger. Then, she turned to Wen Qing and whispered, “Sis, be careful!”
The little one behind her tightened her expression and nodded seriously.
Huff,puff,huff,puff!
The two children crept stealthily, tiptoeing their way to the kitchen door.
Holding their breath, Jiang Man slowly, ever so slowly, pushed open the glass kitchen door and reached their final destination.
As the refrigerator door swung open, the interior light flickered on. Jiang Man skillfully dragged over a small stool and, with a soft huff, climbed onto it.
“Sis, what do you wanna eat?” Jiang Man asked, eyeing the array of goodies inside the fridge before turning to Wen Qing.
Wen Qing wasn’t actually hungry at all. Earlier, Jiang Man had patted her belly, calculated that it was “snack time,” and that’s why Wen Qing had followed her.
The pretty little girl steadied the stool under her feet, looking up at the experienced snack-hunter. “Whatever Manman picks, I’ll eat.”
Hearing this, Jiang Man grinned, her small frame diving into the fridge on a treasure hunt.
Ever since moving here, the little one would wake up hungry every night. But boiling water to make something was too dangerous for a child.
After some thought, she set her sights on the lonely refrigerator standing in the kitchen.
As Jiang Man knew, someone came in every morning to clear out the previous day’s leftovers and restock with fresh food, ensuring Jiang Feng and the others always ate the freshest ingredients.
The not-so-fresh items were taken away by the person in charge of cleaning.
What a waste of food!
Jiang Man, the little foodie, sternly condemned and denounced such shameful wastefulness!
Until one night, when Jiang Man was so hungry she couldn’t sleep, her secret snacking career officially began.
Relying on the fact that someone would come to restock early the next morning, the once-cautious child gradually grew bolder.
Mini cakes? Grab them!
Fruit? Grab them!
Jellies and drinks? Grab, grab, grab!
The little one below, tasked with catching the loot, soon couldn’t hold everything, but the greedy child showed no signs of stopping.
Holding the teetering pile of snacks, Wen Qing sensed trouble and quickly spoke up, “Manman, I…”
Before she could finish, the mountain of snacks in her arms came crashing down.
The loud thud startled the two children, freezing them in place like two stunned guinea pigs.
