- Rebirth: The Yandere Regent Prince Is Clingy Every Day
- Chapter 1 - The Sickly and Beautiful Crown Prince
In the 28th year of the Yuanqi Era, the armies of the Yuanqi and Song nations engaged in a fierce battle that flowed with rivers of blood.
Mist blanketed the sky as a fine drizzle fell, as if weeping for the fallen soldiers.
The Yuanqi army was beaten back in successive defeats until enemy forces finally breached the imperial palace. Slaughter turned day into night, and the vast palace reeked heavily of fresh blood.
Upon the high city tower, a lone figure in white leaned against the cold stone wall. Three thousand strands of ink-black hair cascaded down to the ground, and a gaping wound gaped through his chest, soaking his white robes in crimson.
Clad in black and gold robes that clung tightly to his body, a man stared with bloodshot eyes, slaughtering his way through the battlefield like a madman. Within a hundred-meter radius, everyone he killed was fair game, friend and foe alike!
“The Prince Regent has lost his mind! Run !”
Before the man could finish his sentence, a sharp blade pierced clean through his heart.
Jun Qingyu stepped foot into the imperial palace of the Yuanqi nation, lifting the white-robed Mu Chengyan from the city wall into his arms, his eye sockets red and wet.
“Gege… I’m late…”
He spoke, his pale lips trembling slightly.
He raised a hand to gently wipe away the mud on Mu Chengyan’s face. His Gege loved beauty the most.
Everyone could clearly see that atop the stone steps, the decisive, noble, and absolute Prince Regent who had never shed a single tear in his life was crying his heart out like a helpless child at that very moment.
The next day, the sickly Emperor of the Song nation suddenly passed away. Amidst the vicious struggle for the throne among nine princes, the Song nation plunged into an endless abyss of darkness.
Jun Qingyu stood tall upon the city tower, gazing indifferently as the people slaughtered one another inside the palace.
Mu Chengyan lay resting upon a plush chaise lounge, dressed in white robes as immaculate as snow. His detached face was pale and delicate, his lips tinged with a flush of red, with only one tragic flaw those eyes remained tightly closed.
“Gege, Qingyu has… avenged you…”
A single clear tear rolled from Jun Qingyu’s eyes, landing on Mu Chengyan’s pristine white robes and sending ripples across the fabric.
After struggling in the depths of hell for over a decade, he had ultimately failed to protect the person he loved most.
If only he could turn back time, he would have found Gege sooner, stayed by his side, and never left him for even a single step…
Three days later, a new grave was erected in a serene spot on the outskirts of the capital.
Gege, hell is too cold. I have come to look for you.
Jun Qingyu held Mu Chengyan close to his chest as they were buried deep beneath the earth together.
In the Yuanqi nation, one of the nine great powers of the Jiuzhou Continent.
The vast capital was as prosperous as a brocade painting. At its center, a sprawling complex of magnificent, gold-and-jade architecture extended for a hundred miles, endless to the eye.
Like a prison, it trapped everyone within its walls.
A person lay vaguely upon a massive bed, white gauze curtains swaying gently in the breeze.
A man dressed in white robes possessed a refined and exquisite face that kept others at a distance. He looked somewhat sickly, his lips tinted with an abnormal, unhealthy pallor.
“Your Highness the Crown Prince, His Majesty summons you for an audience.”
A soft voice broke the silence near his ear, causing Mu Chengyan to twitch his fingers.
Wasn’t he already dead?
He had died within that freezing, desolate palace…
Who was that…? In his daze, he seemed to catch the figure of a woman.
“Your Highness the Crown Prince, His Majesty summons you for an audience to discuss matters of great importance.”
Mu Chengyan slowly opened his eyes. Familiar faces greeted his vision; several attendants dressed in traditional court attire stood respectfully off to the side.
“What year is this?”
“The 25th year of the Yuanqi Era.”
The people exchanged bewildered glances. Could it be that His Highness had fallen gravely ill and turned into a fool, not even knowing what year it was?
The 25th year of the Yuanqi Era… He had traveled back in time. He had returned to three years ago.
Three years ago, the Yuanqi nation had not yet signed the humiliating peace treaty, had not been enslaved by the Song nation, and had not been destroyed. Everything could still be saved…
“Cough, cough, cough…”
Mu Chengyan sat up, his body frail and his complexion cast in a sickly, pale hue, shielding his lips as he gave a low cough.
Even though he had been reborn, his fragile, sickly body remained completely unchanged.
A maidservant dressed in white stepped forward. “His Highness has not yet recovered. What urgent business could possibly be so important?”
Mu Chengyan gave a gentle shake of his head. “Yuetong, it’s fine. I’m quite alright.”
“Your Highness the Crown Prince, His Majesty is waiting in the palace. You really shouldn’t delay any longer.”
Impatience flickered across the faces of the attendants nearby. The Crown Prince’s residence was a place they desperately wished to avoid.
What if visiting brought bad luck and turned them into sickly, short-lived ghosts just like His Highness the Crown Prince?
“Alright…”
Dropping those words, the group hurried away at top speed, as if they had just run into ferocious wolves and panthers.
Although Mu Chengyan held the title of Crown Prince, he lacked any arrogant airs and was always gentle and approachable.
The common people of the Yuanqi nation had always held this Crown Prince in the highest regard.
“Your Highness, they only know how to bully you! Next time, you shouldn’t be so nice to them; you should just throw them straight out.”
Their Highness was simply too kind, which was why so many people took advantage of him—even these errand-running eunuchs dared to act so arrogant and overbearing.
“Yuetong, considering someone like me a Crown Prince whose days are numbered and whose body is frail they naturally aren’t going to try to curry favor…”
Mu Chengyan let out a self-deprecating chuckle. His younger brothers were all capable of riding horses onto the battlefield, whereas he couldn’t even walk steadily.
Yuetong’s eyes shimmered with crystal tears as her heart ached for him.
“Who says Your Highness is useless? While Your Highness cannot take to the battlefield to slaughter the enemy, you can devise strategies within a command tent that secure victory a thousand miles away. Tell me, who else in this world possesses strategic brilliance that can compare to yours?”
In the past, their Highness had also been a breathtakingly brilliant youth, only to be maliciously plotted against and crippled of his meridians, reducing him to this state.
Mu Chengyan inadvertently recalled his past self full of youthful vigor and aspiration compared to the useless shell he was now.
He lowered his head and offered a gentle, helpless smile. “Things from so many years ago… I’ve long since forgotten them.”
Would he really forget?
He had once been a favored son of the heavens, too…
It was just that after all these years, his proud backbone had long since been worn smooth by the world.
