Quick Transmigration: I'm Really Not A Scumbag - Chapter 2
Aside from being lazy, Zhou Fan had another well-known trait: he liked men.
His mother told him that even back in kindergarten, he had already learned to hold the hands of other little boys. By elementary school, it became even more exaggerated; he would bring groups of boys home to play until her head nearly exploded from the noise.
In middle school, Zhou Fan matured a bit and understood what it meant to be gay. One day after school, he came home and knelt straight down on the floor, startling his parents who had just returned from work.
“At the time, I thought you had beaten someone up at school,” his mother recalled later with great emotion. “As it turned out, you had just discovered your orientation. Your father and I ran to the school to find your teachers before we even had a chance to eat dinner.”
Zhou Fan was content to have such open-minded parents, so he did not voice any opposition when his mother became pregnant with his younger sister. Since he intended to find a man, he felt he should at least give his parents the chance to have a grandchild.
Zhou Fan never thought about hiding his sexuality. He was handsome and the cool, quiet type. Not long after coming out, he was pursued and confessed to by a boy, and he simply went with the flow and started dating.
They broke up shortly after, and someone else immediately confessed. By the time he started his senior year of high school, Zhou Fan’s ex-boyfriends were numerous enough to fill an entire classroom.
However, rather than serious relationships, those connections felt more like fleeting fun. At most, they involved holding hands or a kiss, and nothing more.
The reason Zhou Fan felt this way was that he met Chi Hanqing during his senior year. He was a wealthy young master with a refined name, snowy skin, and a cold, frost-like demeanor.
Zhou Fan was very surprised when Chi Hanqing confessed to him. It was not just because such a high and mighty rich second-generation heir liked him, but also because of the way he confessed. In an empty science classroom one afternoon, the boy in the white shirt handed him a pink envelope with an expressionless face and said stiffly, “Read it.”
One might have thought he was there to collect a debt.
If anyone else had spoken in that tone, Zhou Fan would have walked away, but this was Chi Hanqing. He opened the envelope and began to read as told. He started laughing before he was even two sentences in. Who would have thought that such a top student would use a pink envelope and rounded handwriting to write a love letter? He finished reading it with a smile and accepted the confession.
It was this relationship that made Zhou Fan realize his previous romances were merely child’s play. Unfortunately, it still ended abruptly.
Even six years later, recalling the breakup made Zhou Fan feel like a terrible person. Chi Hanqing, a pampered young master, had willingly followed him around and served him every day. Yet, Zhou Fan had kicked him to the curb for a random reason, even breaking up via text message.
In the end, Chi Hanqing crouched outside his door for three days and nights until he finally fell ill and was taken to the hospital by his family. Zhou Fan had been inside the house the entire time, listening to him cry and beg, but he never opened the door. He was a cold-hearted scumbag through and through.
As they say, everything comes back to you.
Today, six years later, Chi Hanqing was dressed in a tailored suit, looking every bit the wealthy and successful professional. Meanwhile, Zhou Fan wore old work clothes and messy hair, sitting in a repair shop in a small county with traces of engine oil still on his face. Things had changed, and people had moved on.
“Oh my,” Feng Ruirui said in surprise, grabbing Zhou Fan’s shoulder and shaking him. “Do you two know each other?”
Zhou Fan sighed and stood up. “Yes, we have met before. What is wrong with the car?”
Chi Hanqing also snapped back to his senses and remained silent for a moment. “The front left tire is flat.”
Zhou Fan walked out of the shop and was once again jolted by the cold wind. His head felt a bit heavy; he suspected he would have a fever tonight. He decided to drink some herbal medicine later as a precaution.
Zhou Fan stared at the bright red Ferrari parked outside the door for a while, found the front left tire, and crouched down. Fortunately, unlike the old lady’s car, it had simply been punctured by something. It was leaking air and only needed a patch.
He stood up and looked into the shop. Chi Hanqing was still standing exactly where he had left him. Zhou Fan reached into his pocket, pulled out the cigarette Feng Ruirui had given him, and lit it. He took several deep drags, making the most of every second. When he finished, he exhaled the smoke and pressed the cigarette butt out on the lid of the trash can.
“Don’t worry, Zhou Fan has worked for me for a long time. Even though he is young, his skills are better than many old masters in the city.” Feng Ruirui was likely worried Chi Hanqing would be uneasy leaving such a luxury car there, so she was smiling and giving her word.
Chi Hanqing listened silently.
Zhou Fan walked back into the shop. Passing by him, he smelled that scent again. “I checked it. It just needs a patch. It will be done in ten minutes.” He reached for his toolbox.
“Wait a moment,” Chi Hanqing spoke.
Zhou Fan looked back at him lazily. “Fifty.”
“I am not talking about the price.” Chi Hanqing frowned slightly. “Do not patch the tire. Replace it for me.”
Zhou Fan raised an eyebrow. “We do not have original factory tires for a Ferrari here.”
“It does not matter. Just change it for now,” Chi Hanqing said. “I will come to pick up the car tonight.” He raised his hand and placed the car keys on the counter, then asked, “What time do you finish work tonight?”
Feng Ruirui was no fool. She had already sensed the subtle atmosphere between the two of them, so she did not interject and instead looked at Zhou Fan.
Zhou Fan realized that Chi Hanqing wanted to say something to him and was only taking this long detour to create an opportunity. He leaned one arm on the counter, lowered his head, and sighed. “Chi Hanqing, we”
He originally wanted to say, “We ended a long time ago,” just as he had six years prior. He intended to crush Chi Hanqing’s heart again, regardless of whether the man still had feelings for him. Zhou Fan felt that given Chi Hanqing’s personality, he would not be attached to a disheveled mechanic anyway. Saying those words would cleanly sever any connection between them.
However, before the remaining words could leave his mouth, a crisp notification suddenly rang out in his mind.
[Ding!]

What on earth was this?
Zhou Fan looked at Chi Hanqing in shock, then at Feng Ruirui. Both appeared perfectly normal, as if they had not heard the eerie mechanical voice at all. He suspected he was so tired that he was hallucinating. He gritted his teeth and decided to finish his sentence.
But just as he opened his mouth, a surge of electricity accompanied by sharp pain shot through his entire body.
[Ding! Detection: Host is about to speak scumbag remarks. One electric shock warning issued!]
Dammit. Was this really happening? Zhou Fan was stunned.
