- Chapter 7 - The God of Morning Classes (Part 6)
“…” Chu Yu’s father said, “Do you think he is into men just because you want him to be? Stop flattering yourself!”
Wu Hui understood. “You can go ahead and prepare my personal family tree then.”
Chu Yu’s father: “?”
Wu Hui: “Remember to write down: ‘Expert-level player of the Autumn Farm game’.”
Chu Yu’s father: “Get lost.”
After the call with his father ended, Pei Huaiye remained polite and did not interrupt. However, after Wu Hui finished, he asked curiously: “Were you mentioning me?”
Wu Hui looked innocent. “No, we were just talking about the Teddy dog my neighbor keeps.”
“Is that so?” Pei Huaiye said with hidden meaning, “Did you not say you like things to be more candid?”
Wu Hui replied as a matter of course: “It is enough if the other party is candid.”
It turned out it was only a one-sided candidness. But Pei Huaiye did not mind. Dissecting the petals and peeling back the layers was more interesting than anything else.
“Senior, do you not think that this is unfair?” Wu Hui said slowly.
“What is unfair about it?”
Wu Hui looked out the window. The café sat in a prime location in the shopping district. Outside the window, a flower shop filled with fresh flowers was visible, with roses of various colors blooming in a showy, ostentatious display.
He said as if it were a serious matter: “From the first time we met until now, if you want to know about me, you can find out everything quite easily, including my family, my schedule, and my habits. But I cannot do the same; everything I know about you is just information everyone else shares. Compared to that, I know nothing about you. I am at a total disadvantage.”
The youth removed his glasses and lowered his eyelashes. The more he spoke, the more apparent his downcast mood became. Anyone who saw him like this would find it difficult to be heartless.
Jianqiu: 【To be fair, I am not taking sides, but you peeked at him while he was bathing, and now you only deign to hold his hand. It is indeed unfair.】
Pei Huaiye watched him from across the table, ripples of emotion flickering in his eyes. He seemed moved. Everyone begged for a shred of pity from those in power.
Suddenly, he curled his lips.
“That is true.” Pei Huaiye leaned forward, staring at him. “So, what shall we do about it?”
Wu Hui blinked.
From the moment he captured the playful glint in the other man’s eyes, he knew that Pei Huaiye was not going to fall for this and would not soften his heart because of it.
“…It is fine.”
Wu Hui lowered his eyes. “I am going to the restroom first.”
His retreating back held a hint of loss, though his straight spine masked it, conveying a sense of proud, cool-headed dignity.
Pei Huaiye gazed at his retreating figure. Finally, he got up to follow him.
The restroom was empty. The water from the faucet splashed out, and Wu Hui stood before the mirror, letting the cold water run over his fingertips. Hearing the movement at the door, he did not look up but called out.
“Senior.”
Pei Huaiye walked over and bent down slightly. “Are you unhappy?” He spoke as if teasing a small animal in the palm of his hand. “You can tell me what you want me to do.”
Wu Hui turned off the water. “Anything?”
Pei Huaiye watched him with a smile.
So, that was a ‘no’.
“Never mind.”
Wu Hui wiped his fingertips in a slow, deliberate manner. Without his glasses to shield his eyes, the corners of his eyes lifted, a beauty that was indescribable and bewitching. He took the initiative to walk closer to Pei Huaiye. Just as they were about to touch, Pei Huaiye retreated without a trace.
Behind him was the marble wall.
Wu Hui spoke leisurely: “Senior, why do you not take your hand out of your pocket? Are you afraid I will see something?”
Pei Huaiye’s eyes narrowed sharply.
Wu Hui continued: “After holding my hand, you must have been very uncomfortable all the way here, right?” He stared back with equal compassion. “Why not say something if you are uncomfortable?”
Pei Huaiye remained calm. “Why would I be uncomfortable?”
Wu Hui pointed it out with a smile, his fingertips poking Pei Huaiye’s chest, one word at a time: “Skin hunger, can you still hold it in?”
The speed with which he had guessed it indeed exceeded Pei Huaiye’s expectations. The moment that hand touched his chest, a fire ignited from that spot, spreading throughout his entire body.
Wu Hui felt the excitement and tremor beneath his fingertips that even the clothing could not isolate, like a wild beast about to break through the cage that held it.
He guessed right.
The sudden pulling away, the thirst for the scent of his clothes, the constant desire for touch that was deliberately avoided; the initiator had become Wu Hui. He smiled like a villain, faking concern: “You can tell me what you want me to do.”
Pei Huaiye’s gaze locked onto him. “Anything?”
Wu Hui just smiled.
The boomerang hitting one’s own body was truly painful.
The hand on his chest was pulled away. Pei Huaiye’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His blood was boiling, and every cell in his body was crazily thirsting for touch.
“Help me,” he said hoarsely.
Wu Hui said with feigned regret: “I am not a doctor. I cannot help you.”
He took two steps back before Pei Huaiye could reach out, his malice undisguised. “The coffee is finished. Senior, please excuse yourself. I am going back to study for my CET exams.”
Jianqiu: 【Are you really going to leave him there and not care?】
Wu Hui walked on his way back: 【Did he care if I lived or died when I was calling for help?】
Jianqiu: 【What? Things like that happened?】
Wu Hui: 【Those three days and three nights, I pleaded so many times, but I did not see him feel any pity.】
Jianqiu: 【Stop, this is not the bus to kindergarten.】
Heh, so he had stopped denying his identity.
Stupid robots could never beat humans.
A few minutes later.
Jianqiu: 【Wait, do you even remember the way back?】
Wu Hui was confident: 【Who says I do not remember?】
Jianqiu: 【…You do not remember anything. You are walking the wrong way! The school is over there!】
If it weren’t for Jianqiu, Wu Hui might not have made it to the dorms before dark. He went to the cafeteria to eat first, and upon returning to the dorm, he found the door unlocked, but the room was pitch black even though it was already night.
Wu Hui thought Jiang Liexing hadn’t pulled the door shut when he left, so he clicked the light on and suddenly heard the sound of cans clinking.
“…”
Wu Hui was almost startled. “Why are you sitting here in the dark?”
Jiang Liexing was lying listlessly on the table, with several cans and small bottles toppled over. Wu Hui walked closer to identify them: Wangzai and AD Calcium.
Wu Hui said with a complicated expression: “Are you drunk on milk?”
“Wuwuwu…”
Jiang Liexing began to wail. “I was rejected by the goddess. Don’t worry about me, let me get drunk alone until dawn.”
“You are being a bit difficult for the Wangzai.” Wu Hui cracked open a carton of pure milk and raised it like a cup. “I will keep you company with a white one.”
Jiang Liexing raised a can of Wangzai through his tears. “I have the red one. Thank you, Chu Yu.”
He drank the Wangzai with the intensity of someone drinking canned liquor, gulping it down, his eyes dazed and shining with tears.
Deep into his cups, Jiang Liexing shouted: “Why! Why did she reject me! I clearly liked her so much! Just because I have nothing? I know, aside from money, I have nothing at all. I am a completely poor person…”
Wu Hui’s lips twitched.
Feeling better after shouting it out, Jiang Liexing wiped his tears: “I am sorry, I am just too sexy, I suppose. I am always emotionally affected by some things.”
“It is fine.” Wu Hui shot him a side-glance. “Your current mission is to get your degree, don’t think about anything else.”
Wu Hui went to the bathroom to take a shower first. When he came out, Jiang Liexing had already closed his eyes, drunk to the point of being unconscious.
He didn’t pay any mind and rummaged through the cabinet for a hairdryer. Suddenly, Jiang Liexing stood up, firm in his stance: “Unless it is the goddess, I will not settle for anyone else!”
Wu Hui wiped his hair. “Are you being forced into an arranged marriage by your family?”
“No,” Jiang Liexing said. “Don’t you remember? The school ball at the end of the year requires a dance partner. I invited my goddess, but she refused, wuwuwu.”
A dance ball.
Wu Hui had indeed forgotten about that.
At the end of every year, Aliston held a large-scale school-wide ball. It was held in the world’s largest auditorium on campus. Those attending had to bring a partner, regardless of gender, and they could be from inside or outside the school. Because most of the students were wealthy or prestigious, the school also sent out invitations to outsiders interested in high society.
It was designed to be a bustling event.
Jiang Liexing: “Do you have a dance partner candidate? Never mind, I am humiliating myself, you are definitely dancing with the Crown Prince.”
Wu Hui was not interested. “Not interested, and it is not mandatory to attend.”
Jiang Liexing: “But it adds academic credits!”
Wu Hui: “…”
